Hate to cross-post but I sort of need an answer fast and wasn't getting much feedback in the general section.
How is this possible? I only have a few zips on there yet I only have 708 mb left on there. Is this normal or what should I do to clean up

Really... check settings -> SD Card & phone storage... What is the reading for internal phone storage Total space and Available space? You didn't try to partition with CWM did you?

Total space 7.39 gb??? Atrix comes standard with 16gb... after android os, some apps, etc.. you should have more than 7.39... and then what the hell is taking up 7 gb that it is showing??? Yeah, I know that's the question you have
Huuummm... you haven't been doing multiple backups with CWM and saving them the internal sd have you (i doubt you would be, but thought I'd ask)?
How long have you had this phone? Did you just notice this problem? Has it always been like this?

yeah, there you go that sounds more like it... those numbers are "normal." So, it sounds like your mico sd card is almost full... delete some pron and you should be good to go
The missing 5 1/2 gb more or less of your 16 gb internal drive is the os, bios, etc. Just figure out what taking up so much space on you micro sd card and delete some of it (*cough *cough porn), or get a bigger micro sd card.

???? ext sdcard (aka micro sd)???? When I plug in my phone, it doesn't say anything about having two drives. Maybe it's just warning you that your micro sd card is almost full... take it out and see if you still get a warning/message.

Recently i flashed anderoids aosp rom and before i flashed it my internal memory was 12 gb and my sd was like 2gb but after i flashed it my internal and sd switched my computer now reads them as the opposite my internal is removable disk g and my sd is removable disk f when before it was switched. The my device app is also telling me that my sd is 12 gb and my internal is 2gb.
Just wanted to check if this is normal and if it reads like this for anybody else.
Mine is backwards also. And in my folders I have multiple sd folders. All good though. I guess mixing and matching folders from other types of phones something will get confused.

hey peeps just wondering if anyone has or knows if it would be possible to change the internal sd card? im assuming the ram is soldered in and is linked in some way to the phone and wont be able to change but what about the internal sd?
Not possible... Its not an sd card and also soldered in.
Just partition your sd to add a 1GB primary ext2 partition and then install link2sd. Means you can move any allocation and its data to sd card. You must be rooted though! Hope this helps!

thanks for the reply mate. u sure its not a sd card? i could of swore most of the smart phones which have internal memory is a micro sdhc card. in this and the galaxy s it has a lil plastic bit where it is behind? i just thought with a class 10 8gb or something it would make the phone quicker and obviously not have to worry about moving things to external sd
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but here's some theory: the phone got 2 storages: the internal storage of 1gb flash which is soldered and cannot be changed and the sd card for data/music/photo/whatever to store on. This micro sdhc card can be changed. Class 4-6 is okay and every micro sdhc card should work... hope i answered your question

is the sd card you talking about the external one? i thought there was a internal sd card which you would have to take the phone apart to get to. thats the one i was thinking of changing. i know people have done it with the dell streak
So i searched for the answer for this problem and have found no threads on it.
The problem is that my STOCK amaze 4G keeps telling me that I have "insufficient storage available" when I am trying to install updates. The updates that I'm having trouble with are HTC WATCH, Facebook, Google Maps, and a few others. These are the main ones though. I noticed that it started doing this after Google decided to switch from MARKET to PLAY STORE.
Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to fix this. I have over 250MB of RAM left on my phone, 14GB available on my SD Card, and 7.65GB of available phone storage, and 203MB available of Internal Storage.
Thanks!
try moving some of your apps to the sd card and try again. sounds like your internal memory is too low

Agreed, this is likely the issue. I finally ran across this myself, moved a bunch of big apps to sd and then had enough room.
I've literally moved everything I can to my SD card :/
I think I might just have to do a factory reset...
I had that exact issue, only went away when I rooted. Factory reset 2x; nothing.

I truly think Energy ROM is the best out of the ones I tried. It's the most stable and all features work solidly. The battery virtually doesn't change when the phone is locked and not in use, and its the only ROM that lasts me all day.
Bulletproof 2.5 is pretty stable, but its hosted at a different site. You will have to Google it. There are only a couple handfuls of ROMs for this phone, so if you have the time, it would be best to try them all. But as of right now, NRGZ28 (Energy ROM) and XBoarder56 (Bulletproof 2.5) are the main 2 developers for this phone, but we have quite a few others attempting to make the leap

Your problem is the phone uses the internal memory as the sd card. The real sd card is actually listed as ext_sd and the phone does not use it as it should. Its strange and no one seems to be talking about it.

I've used it with my 16GB external SD since the day I got it. Still couldn't figure out why it wouldnt let me update anything.
Today i restarted my phone and noticed that it uninstalled about 15 apps out of nowhere! Decided to just do a Factory Reset, all is good so far.
205mb of internal memory thats your problem thats out of 10gigs total its full. Like i said the phone uses that internal memory 10gigs as the sd card that what its labeled as in any file manager. Go to. Sd card and open it you'll see ext_sd thats your real sd card. Dont know how to fix it seems like a programming error. The phone just dosent save anything to ext_sd so it sits unused at least for apps. I think it does store pics there.
Edit: my bad i think in your case the 7gigs free is your internal memory and the 205mb is the 2gig of phone memory either way its full.

Thats not correct it uses the internal memory for apps real sd card inserted or not at least unrooted. It calls that internal space sd card for some reason i cant understand. A real. Sd card is in the sd card folder called ext_sd check it out.
same device, same freaking problem
tons of memory (48gb). Always got bogged by "insufficient storage available" and apps bizarrely disappear and reappear, and sometimes disappeared forever (need to redownload every single time).
Have tried your advice to move apps to SD but problem didn't go off. You don't need to root it. This solves it.
http://www.ganshani.com/2012/01/11/fix-insufficient-storage-available-on-android/
I had this problem this morning and tried all sorts of things
-Deleting the temp cache of used programs
-Uninstalling programs
-Moving programs to sd card.
Nothing worked.
What DID work was deleting a bunch of mms/sms messages. As soon as I did that and rebooted problem solved (for me at least).
Amaze 4G low memory
HTC posted an application on the market for this. Search for Amaze memory clear
Sometimes when you have a fresh install and if it does not allow you to install apps (insufficient storage available) even after a factory reset, this command should fix it (if you have s-off or unlocked bootloader)
Mind you, this command wipes all userdata and cache.
fastboot -w
This has fixed the insufficient storage available for me
The amaze 4g seems to think of its internal memory as an sd card. Its saves things that should be going to the real sd card to the phones internal memory. If you look in astro or other file managers the real sd card is listed as ext_sd and the phone dosent use it. What gives i cant find much info on this. If you manually move the files to the real sd card (ext_sd) then the game cant find the data and wants to re download it. Apps to sd and such just move things back and forth between the phone storage and the "sd card" which is really the 10gigs of internal phone space not the true sd card. Very strange. Please help.
A lot of newer apps have a setting to store in ext_sd... if they don't, you're gonna have to move the stuff manually. Aside from editing the system files and changing the variables I don't think its going to be possible unless the app supports it. Sorry, just the way it is.

I have over 100 apps and don't have that problem. None of them are on my ext_sd... Quite a few big apps too... I've seen a few ppl with the same prob, but I don't get why. Maybe it's because I don't have any music or movies on my phone...
I guess I will consider myself lucky :screwy:

it is a true sd card, its just internal and its separate from the phones internal memory. i wish there was a way to default to the external sd, but no dice
I notice your rooted and from the looks of your memory it looks like your phone is using the real sd card not the internal memorh. Im not rooted and mine looks opposite of yours i have like 7gigs free on my sd card and like 700mb of internal memory. I wounder if rooting fixes this issue and thats why more people dont seem to be having the issue.

It's using internal for downloads and everything on my external was placed there by me manually (except for my cwm backups - I have 3 cwm backups on my SD which is hogging most of the space. I deleted 1 BU and now have 2GB+ available on my external.
I don't know if rooting makes a difference. I mean I deleted some bloatware, but none of the stock apps are that big in size, and I only removed about 10 stock apps/widgets. I only ran my phone stock for about 4 hours so idk

The internal memory is much, much faster (test it with SD Tools or AnTuTu Benchmark), so I wouldn't be in a hurry to move things to /mnt/sd_card/ext_sd. So long as you have the camera and other apps storing on on the ext_sd card, the 9GB internal should be fine for data, right?
i love how forum responses are always anything but a response to what op asked.
this is standard behavior for devices that have their own internal (mounted on android as /sdcard) storage partitions. the point is that, if this is not done, the a device with a large internal storage sees no benefit of it other than have a ridiculously large /data partition (we'd have over 13gb for apps on the amaze 4g for example).
ics has a better way of dealing with this treating the whole internal storage (no partitioning anymore) but again, the internal storage takes priority over the sdcard.
in my opinion it's better. I hated android automatically making several directories on my sdcard, but I agree the media scanner still has a way to go including media in the sdcard.
your best option if you don't like the new setup is to get a device instead with no internal storage that relies instead on a microSD
No its not when all the new games need 700mb downloads and the only program that uses the real external sd card is the camera. I love the new games with console quality games that's why i got a phone with no battery life and a ton of horse power. It wasn't to send faster texts. But any app the has a check box to save to the sd card ends up using that internal space called sd card. So i have a full phone an empty "real" sd card and the only app the knows its there is the camera. I cant download my audio books unless i delete a game. I cant use that external space for anything but pictures. 16gb is a lot of space just for pictures. I get internal memory is faster i just wish other apps could use it. Not just the camera app. Its dumb to call that space sd card when every app thinks that space is an external sd card. No app looks for an ext_sd card. So your 32gig class 10 card you spenf $100 for cant be used for anything but pictures its a dumb programming move.

Great answer if you don't like it get a phone with no internal memory brilliant! Why can't they just save the name sdcard for true external sdcards? The point of a ton of internal memory is to have a ton of internal memory so i dont get your point of no benefit. The benefit is i have 13 gigs for all these games that require almost a gig of space. I think thats why they started putting that much internal memory. With the new power of these phones the apps are getting huge. So put a lot of very fast internal storage space. And then you can use your real sdcard as you always have. Apps arnt 2mb any more. So 13gigs of app storage would be a great benefit in the day of gigabyte sized apps. SORRY FOR THE RANT IM DONE NOW. some people's kids just bother me with their logic.
Hey guys, ima level 3 technician and I use to work at a T-Mobile refurb center and have worked at RIM and to end some confusion.
The internal memory is in fact an sd card ranging in sizes from 4-32 gigabytes class 6, I've worked on my phone personally just to double check and found one as well
I'm currently in the process of decrypting the format of my internal sd card so I can transfer it and swap it with a 32gb patriot class 10 just a little info I wanted to share, also the capacitive buttons light leak is due to a physical malfunction in the amazes hardware where the screen and glass met which makes a slight crevice where in turn the light leaks thru creating that dreaded overshoot,
I fixed this by opening up my phone ( I do not advise this I am a professional and have all my equipment so I don't make mistakes) and putting a line of electric tape (black) between the two so there is no longer any way the light can leak thru.
again I don't advise any of this simply giving some information on these problems

So... You will have the only 64GB Amaze with no light bleed? If you tape a folded piece of paper in your back cover to stop the squeaking, and somehow throw ICS on that, you can prolly sell that thing for $2M

I thought the data transfers seemed a little slow to my external sd card so I decided to check it. I'm using a Sandisc class 10 64gb card. My internal card reads and writes at about 30mb/s. My external card will only write at about 8mb/s and read at up to 20mb/s. The same card in my GS3 would write at about 12mb/s. Shouldn't these class 10 cards be faster? I would expect the external card to be as fast as the internal. Could formatting be the issue? I am using an app called SDCardTester for the tests.
I've got a sandisc class 10 32gb and just used the same app you did. I'm getting 30.05MB/s write and 31.5MB/s read. I haven't done anything special to my card that I know off. It was used in my Bionic previously.

Wow, that's awesome. Did you format the card in the phone or in a PC? I did both. Also, what directory on the external sd card did you test in? I used the root folder of the external card. The app is kind of a pain to get it to switch from internal sd to external.
I just formatted my card again and tried the test. I can only get 7-8mb/s on the external card. My S3 used to get better speed with this same card. I have no idea why.
Wow I feel like a total noob...it was testing my internal storage. Sorry for misleading you. I tested again after changing to sd card and got only 5mbs write and 15mbs read. So yeah, mine is even slower than yours. I dont remeber ever testing on my Bionic so I couldnt tell ya if this is better or worse.
