2 options, option "a" card needs formatting is corrupted so phone doesnt like it or "b" cards dead, even if card reads in pc sometimes the phone still decides it thinks somethings wrong with the card and you need to format it

that doesnt explain y the phone would not come on though...
mybe you should wait for a while... it takes time for the phone to run over the 16gb card before it can run.. try format using card reader with your pc then try it again..
What brand is the card? I had issues with Patriot SD and had to go with a real SanDisk and that worked well

both micro sd cards are sanDisk
is that brand new?
maybe your 16GB sd is damaged.. try to reformat it..
i am using a PATRIOT LX Series Class 10 16GB sdcard...
its properly detected... no issues there...
may be u have formatted it wrongly...
search on XDA site there are some tools for formatting high capacity sdcards
A physical defect in the card could cause a voltage short, which in turn would stop the phone turning on for safety reasons buddy. Does the card work in a reader etc?

Further to the questions above
(a) what ROM are you on - some are notoriously fickle about SD cards and how they are formatted
(b) when you say the phone wont turn on, at what stage do you get stuck? SE Logo, Boot animation? Can you get into xRecovery, and if so, can you see/navigate the SD card
(c) Is the issue by any chance your getting stuck in a bootloop?
id say the card is shorting the phone stopping it from turning on
do you format card to fat32 filesystem? try slow full format by bb
Ok i know theres a sim card slot, and 16gb of internal storage but im looking to see if there is a external slot for a Micro SD. I saw a post somewhere saying something about a MicroSD and another card possibly. but on the major sites like sprint. It only says 16 internal. nothing about external of having it or not.
Yes im aware of it being a stupid question but I see a site saying it does but then every other site doesnt even mention it.
It has an microSD card slot under the battery door. No need to remove the battery to extract the card.

Hello all,
I've bought 8GB SD card and used it on my mini pro, I faced some issues like:
1. Alot of programs suddenly crash
2. Wireless connection gets dissconeccted automaticlly
3. The whole Android software get crashed and the screen goes into black, then this can't be solved if I didn't remove battary and reinsert it.
I Tried to check the SD card for bad sectors and problems but there were nothing.
Any Solution?
NOTE: I have another SD card (2GB) and it dosen't make any problem when in use.
If you remove the card the problems persist?

remove your sd card, run your phone and see if errors still occur
I have another SD card (2GB) and I am using it now without any problem
It doesn't make sense, but you can always sell it cheap to someone that can make a good use to it.. #short term solution..

This doesn't make sense.
SDcard has nothing, that could affect wireless connections at all.
SDcard has nothing, that could affect whole Android firmware. Neither should it make apps crash.
What manufacturer's SDcard did you buy?

MAYBE a problem with file system, connect it to pc, with a card reader or put phone in mass storage and format it with FAT32 system.. thats what my 8gb card has..

It happen to once with my cheap 4gb card when i paired with nokia n82.. Till now i don't know why the phone keep refusing to recognize the card. The irony is, the "rejected card" works normally on my current phone "sk17". it left me scratching my head.
If you can return it, return it. If its not worth it, just get a new one. Basically, you have done everything on you end, so its definitely the card's fault.

Check for SD card class, its written on SD card.If its less than Class 6 then you should buy SD card with class 6 or higher.
Second you should not place large files like multiple blueray pictures or multiple songs in single folder. And last you can speed up SD Card read, write speed by using SD booster of Root tool box pro app to make your SD card faster.
I thing class is not so important. I now using few year old 16 gb card class 2 without any problem

Weird but I have no reason not to believe you.At least you know that the problem is the card,so either return it and get a new one or buy a 16Gb instead. They re already pretty cheap! Opt for a class 6+!

Why should I avoid putting multiple songs in one folder? I have put like that and my sd works fine eh??
and the other thing if you had apps in the other sd which was 2gb and u put the 8gb one without transferring them to the 8gb card the apps should not work. Android system failure sould be a problem of memory management. Check whether you had filled ur card.
and yea I think the best solution for u if u have tried every thing, return the card
Hi folks.
I originally bought a 64gb SanDisk micro sd card. After a firmware update my phone no longer recognised it. Samsung gave up trying to help and I gave up and sent the card back to amazon.
I'm now trying a 32gb micro sd card from SanDisk.
If I move mp3 files onto my internal phone memory it Will play them quite nicely. If I move them from there to the sd card they become corrupt and end up in lost.dir
If I move then from my pc to the sd card, worth or without kies, they end up in lost.dir
If I format the card in the phone or my pc and move the files in any way already described, guess what? They end up in lost.dir
What files it can find sound like High pitched static.
If I can't figure this out poor amazon is getting another sd card back.
Ian.

Issue solved. Things work perfectly with a class 4 sd card and fail miserably worth a class 6.

I thought the data transfers seemed a little slow to my external sd card so I decided to check it. I'm using a Sandisc class 10 64gb card. My internal card reads and writes at about 30mb/s. My external card will only write at about 8mb/s and read at up to 20mb/s. The same card in my GS3 would write at about 12mb/s. Shouldn't these class 10 cards be faster? I would expect the external card to be as fast as the internal. Could formatting be the issue? I am using an app called SDCardTester for the tests.
I've got a sandisc class 10 32gb and just used the same app you did. I'm getting 30.05MB/s write and 31.5MB/s read. I haven't done anything special to my card that I know off. It was used in my Bionic previously.

Wow, that's awesome. Did you format the card in the phone or in a PC? I did both. Also, what directory on the external sd card did you test in? I used the root folder of the external card. The app is kind of a pain to get it to switch from internal sd to external.
I just formatted my card again and tried the test. I can only get 7-8mb/s on the external card. My S3 used to get better speed with this same card. I have no idea why.
Wow I feel like a total noob...it was testing my internal storage. Sorry for misleading you. I tested again after changing to sd card and got only 5mbs write and 15mbs read. So yeah, mine is even slower than yours. I dont remeber ever testing on my Bionic so I couldnt tell ya if this is better or worse.

It is easy to do that with that app. Thanks for checking. This must be the reason the camera features are limited when not using the internal card. It sucks.
You should test the card from the computer too.
Slightly OT here, but the SanDisk Extreme Pro is currently the fastest, but the largest size is 16gb
