Hi, really sorry if posted before please dont flame shout or anything else.
i have managed to root my x10i.
my phone has the following details
uk on 3
firmware 2.1 update1
baseband 2.1.54
kernel version 2.6.29
build number 2.1.a.0.435
what i want to know is what should i do now???? i would like to install a new rom.
which one do i choose.... there are many threads with links here, there, and everywhere and i am finding it confusing, i am new to this and would appreciate any help and advice that you could part to a willing and eager x10i user.
i would prefer to use/have a fully working rom inc camera and video playback.
i understand this will limit my options,
i dont mind using a stripped down stock rom.
thanks in advance for any help
It is possible for you to get 2.2, but dont know which version is the best, thinking rdannar or what he's called. it doesn't have a functioning cam, but you can get that from apps.

mmmh the camera works in most of the roms but the quality really isnt great. there is a 2.1custom stripped down se rom which im using and that is full functional and much faster than the standard se. just go through the 1st to pages on the android development and take your pick, they all list whats working and whats not.the 2.1 roms will mostly be fully functional
i got my x10a last week on friday an within 12 hurs rooted 1.6 installed 2.1.a.0.435 rooted that installed Root Explorer, xRecovery, hunnycomb 2.1 rom.
used this to install new F/W

Well.
Have you considered the applications you can use?
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/07/13/8-great-apps-every-rooted-android-user-should-know-about/ (I know.. Old news, but still gives some idea)
Regarding ROMS: If you paint a SAAB blue, it doesn´t become a Volvo. Some parts of the 2.2> roms still uses big parts o the 2.1-update 1 firmware and it uses the same bootloader
thanks guys for all the replys and links. i have just used the go3easys rom
Hello everyone!
I have a simple question that I would like to have answered. I'm adept at running custom ROMS on my GTAB, but I've never really messed with kernel stuff before.
There isn't exactly a 'topic' that deals with this, and pershoots website doesn't have that much detail either.
So I would like to know what kernel would be the best for me to run.
I've got VEGAn-Tab GingerEdition running and I just installed pershoots 2.6.32.39-cyanogenmod and it should be the ginger edition
Is this the right kernel or should I be running another?
Thanks
There are basically two kernels that are being actively supported on XDA, pershoot's and clemsyn's (clemsyn has several kernels out, but they're all just slight variations on the same kernel). If you want to overclock above 1.4GHz and/or adjust the voltage settings, then you should try clemsyn's. If not, then stick with pershoot's. It's what I use. It's what most of the devs on here include with their ROMs. For me, it seems to run better with less work. But try them both out for yourself and see what you like better. That's the only way you can really know if you're running the "right" kernel.
Also, pershoot just updated his kernel to 3.6.32.40, if you want the latest version.
Froyo use clemsyn. Gb use pershoot. Jmho...
Hey Thanks! This stuff gets quite confusing.
Another question here. I have installed Roms but how do we install a Kernel? Do we install prior to the Rom?
Thanks in advance
I've tested out every version.
1- froyo -->clemsy
2- ginger --> pershoot
3- flash kernel as you would with any other zip file. Do not use calk wipe all zip.
Hey guys,
It's been some time since I have been here, I went out into the void of other phones when T-Mobile gave me a free G2 back in July. Anywho, I am here because I am trying to set my old Optimus T up for my boyfriend as his iPhone just fell out of his car and obliterated... Plus, he wants to give Android a whirl (I am so excited!)
Does anyone know the best gingerbread rom that is currently available, looking for something that can run things like angry birds, fruit ninja, maybe a gba emulator... OH! I also saw that there is FLASH available for this phone now, should I look for a rom with that built-in? Or should I flash it myself?
; Sorry for all of the questions! I really hope I don't seem too crazy. Haha.
There is a poll here. I'm running mik_os' CM7 6.6.1, and I've successfully installed Flash 10.1 with this ROM. You can download the Flash installer here.

Hi, guys
I looked around I saw lots of ROMs and there is no thread which is talking about which ROM should be the best for Tab10.1.
so, what do you guys think which ROM is the best and also include link to that room....
Thanks
1. This shouldn't be in this forum section. It's not ROM development!
2. There is no such thing as 'best rom' as it's highly subjective. If you don't need the Camera, flash an ICS rom. If you do, then stick with a Honeycomb one.
Questions go in the Q&A section.
Simple as it get's
Care for Camera: HC 3.2 ROM's
Care for Speed/Performance: ICS Kang CM9
I choose Overcome v 2.3.0 as i want the tab to function flawlessly.
Now, i can wait for a fully functional ICS rom
I am using Overcome 2.3 too.
Hey guys, I recently bought a MP3 player than runs Android and was thinking of rooting it and running the custom ROM and all, but found NO dev for it and the latest software for it is Froyo. Just a few questions
1. How hard would it be to port over a Gingerbread ASOP/CM7 to a MP3 player? I've done some research and it seems to have an Adreno 200 and a "Cortex A8 ARMv7 CPU that runs at 800MHz", assuming that it is a Snapdragon QSD8x50. If all would run well then maybe build a ROM from source for it.
2. How would I go about getting a custom recovery for this device, such as CWM?
All feedback appreciated.
EDIT: Forgot the device name lol. Creative Zen Touch2
