Where i live the phone prefixes are XXXX-XXX-XXXX. In the phone dialer and the contacts app, both stock and gingerblur the prefix is XXX-XXX-XXXX.
Anyone knows how to either change the prefix or disable it altogether? I'm willing to modify the android source if it comes to that (i don't know if the dialer is aosp)
I had the same issue, goto the market and download "MoreLocale 2" its free and will let you choose a custom one.
Tap "Custom Locale"
Tap "ISO3166" and change the country
Tap "Set" and close the app
Click Thanks in this post for the solution.

i installed it, and chose English (Venezuela) and now the prefix is gone. Not exactly what i wanted, but thanks

thanks for that, those instructions helped me remove the prefix.
however, do you know if its possible to change the prefix to xxxx-xxx-xxx ? its something that i am more used to, instead of just xxxxxxxxxx.
Find another locale that has it and try that, maybe that specific one is broken
Sent from my MB860 in Australia
i would prefer to know where android stores its locales so i can edit the venezuelan one (although from my linux days i think they aren't hand-editable)

Did you already try to make a phonecall with your XDA or MDA in your car? Then you certainly discovered a disadvantage of PocketPC Phone Edition: the buttons and menus in the Contacts application are much to small to select a contact and a number while driving (unless you have very sharp eyes and tiny fingers).
That's why I wrote PhonExt.
PhonExt makes it easier to scroll through your contacts, select a phone number and make a phonecall.
PhonExt makes it possible to really use your XDA or MDA while driving.
And with PhonExt you can easily recognize who is calling, even without watching the screen!
PhonExt offers the possibility to assign a specific ring tone to a contact or even to a category of contacts!
PhoneExt works on all pocket pc's with integrated phone that have Pocket PC 2002 - Phone Edition as operating system.
You can download it from http://phonext.oabsoftware.nl.
PhonExt extends your XDA; and it's free!
Oops, almost forgot to tell that PhonExt is freeware...
Cool and tiny software
It's Great tool
i install it and it's working fine with no problems and if i'll find any bug i'll let you know.
thanks with best regards

Great little app does exactly what I want.
Hi
Very nice app, works nicely and cleanly.
However have found that (here in the UK) it dials some mobile numbers wrongly.
eg. mobile number is 0781 123456
it will dial +1 781 123456 (i.e makes a call to America!)
Clearly this needs fixing.
Hi There
same problem here not only with mobiles...it was doing the +1 thing to ALL numbers...
The authors suggested I add country code into my XDA dialing properties...
After a reboot is is not doing the +1 thing anymore but now DROPPING all leading 0's ... so 0207 gets dialled as 207 , 07973 dialled as 7973
summat is going wrong here LOLOL

Just wondering: Have you changed your Country code from '1' to '<your country code>' ?
'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Connections' -> 'Connections' -> 'Dialing Locations'
After flashing qtek or the XDA-developers ROM my XDA Country code always changed to '1'.
grtz!
raymond..
yes I have, as said above , after setting the country code for mobile/home/work dialling properties , the dialler is now dropping all leading zeroes...
thnx for the reply
Doesn't customise ringtones
Hi folks,
I have the same problem- initially, phonext always dial +1 as prefix calling America as it is and then when I changed the settings of connections to country code 44, (ie not 0044), it dials correctly now. However the ringtone that I added to any categories doesn't work and even using the contact menu, adding ringtone doesn't work. Anyone has the same problem besides dialing out?
Cheers
Vic
For me it´s not working too....
First problem I have, that also the wrong numbers are dialed....
Instead of +497031.... it dials +317031....
I my contact list the number are stored in this format:
+49 (7031) .....
Another problem I have, is that i cann´t set a ring tone to a person. I´ve got this option in the contact list, but when i try it, I´ve get an error Message:
"Cannot run menu add in"
I´m using standard ROM Version 3.17.03 ENG and RAdio Version 4.21.00
Regards
Stefan

Ok, was my mistake. Have seen this thread already, but i didn´t mentioned, that there is a new version of Phonerxt Available. Now it works fine...
Stefan
This is a very very very useful utility.
One suggestion: I have in my contacts more than a thousand numbers. I presume I'm not the only one. Although the search is fast (arrows go page up and page down), I suggest to the creator of the software to add in the upper row (instead of "Dial a contact") three buttons dividing names in alphabetical order (A-G, H-R, S-Z or whatever): this allows faster search. Thanks.
Hi, are there any UK based custom 2.1 ROMs?
flashed Villain3.4 but it seems the market is the US one so all the location specific apps are US and doesnt work properly
anyone point me in the right direction?
@nortynort
Sorry for writing this, but did you inform yourself before you wrote this new, unnecessary thread?
sorry it might've been daft, but the only way to get informed is to ask right?
MarketEnabler
Install market enabler and set your location to UK.
http://uploaded.to/file/en3pg4
nope mate ... the right way would be to make some research.
but I will give you the answer, have a look at page 1 from the Villain thread. Villain 3.4 basis is from an Eris dump, means the sources are from a US thought software leak.
There is no UK based ROM even no Mongolian based ROM, why? Because no official 2.1 release exists.

Not at exactly a manual is it? More of a reference point and discussion on the ROM itself.

it is not only unnecessary, it is also in the wrong subforum.
Wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
"RTFM is an initialism for the direction "Read The ****ing Manual". This instruction is sometimes given in response to a question when the person being asked believes that the question could be easily answered by reading the relevant "manual" or instructions. It is also used to tell people to try to help themselves before seeking assistance from others."
So according to wikip phanes used the term correctly. And who wants to start a discussion concerning the validity of wikipedia? Not me. I believe in the peoples opinion.
Edit; Oh how i love metadiscussions..
As far as the original question goes. What is not working, market is fine for me using VillainRom 3.4?
Things submitted by U.S developers will show in $ anything in UK will show in £ and some will be Euro's you can still purchase them all the same.
Have you checked to see if you can change the "LOCATION" and "LOCALE & TEXT" options in SETTINGS?
I'm honestly trying to help, but no matter how I try wording the above, it always sounds a little condescending.

I'm not too knowledgable in this, but whatever app I download seems to be set to be US centric?
For example Yelp, which worked fine in the stock tmob uk ROM, now can't find my location at all. I set the currency thing in the settings to UK and it still can't find my location.
Other apps like pocketauctions for ebay are set to US by default but that one is managable as setting it to UK works fine.
Shopsavvy barcode scan feature no longer works, it doesn't recognise any barcodes anymore, I dont know if thats a US/UK thing as well. Typing products in by name brings up US prices. There's no setting to set it to UK.

Going to Settings ---> Location only gives the options "Use wireless networks" (Checked), and "Use GPS satellites" (unchecked)
Can't find a direct reference to Locale and text, but in the keyboard settings there's a LOCALE setting and clicking on it you can only choose a language

yes tried MarketEnabler. installed it, didn't see my original network (Tmobile UK). Tried tapping on other networks just as O2 germany, but nothing happens, no error message no nothing. Nothing changed in market.
Have an Eris with 2.1, but the keyboard doesn't have the mic icon for typing text by speaking. How so ?
You need to clarify just a bit. Are you rooted or not? If you are rooted, which rom are you using? Either way, double check to see if there are any other keyboards installed. First, go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > and see if there are any other keyboards to select. If there are, check them off. Next, go to any text box, long press then select whichever keyboard you want. If you don't have any other keyboards to try, well there are plenty to choose from, either on this forum, the Market place or if there is a specific one you want and can't find, PM me and I'll send you a link.

Hey thank you for the reply. I'm not rooted. On stock rom.
No problem. It's been so long since I've had a stock rom, I don't remember what choices that are included for keyboards. Did you find any others to pick from? If not, there are a lot of good choices out there. It isn't for everyone, but check out Swype. I like it, and it amazes your friends and family at the same time lol. I have a working .apk if you want to try. Ask and I'll pm you the link.

Hi there,
I recently installed JellyBam into my i9100. I have the standard Trebuchet installed with the Google Search bar widget.
When I type in Amsterdam weather, the weather is nicely displayed but the values are in Imperial.
How does one change it into Metric?
( It would be interesting to query the value of product.locale.region, but I don't know how)
( Please note I do not wish to install a new app for this. I simply want to know how to change the existing Google Search app. There are no options in the Settings menu).
Cheers, F.
There is a small "C" next to the temp displayed in Fahrenheit. Tap that, and it will change to Celsius. All future results will then be in metric.

Do the search at www.google.com via the browser, then try doing what I said. Then repeat your search using the search widget. The preference should carry over.

Nope. A search on Google.com gives it in Metric. The change is not carried through. It is specific to Google Search widget/app in Android.

That's totally weird. My results always get displayed in a browser window. Your results appear to be something else.
Check in the ROM thread?
EDIT to add: it's probably different for me since I'm on stock ICS, and you're running the JellyBam custom ROM, so this is about as far as I can go trying to help you, I think. Sorry.
OK. Shall try there. Cheers for the suggestions.
Did you check in Settings->Google Now->Weather->Weather Units?
Btw. which Jellybam Version are you using? The one based on 4.1.2 or the one based on 4.2.1?
V 4.2.1
Thee is no Google Now settings section .
Enter your search term; once the result is shown hit the left touch key and there should be a settings entry (at least it's like that in the 4.1.2 version).
Yes there is a settings entry, but nothing there adresses measurments.
Screenshot of Settings in Google Search widget
Well it looks like that for me.
You do have a google-account, right?

No. Can you offer proof that a Google Account is required?
If no Google account was configured then one would think it would base results on GeoIP or the handset locale, which is the Netherlands and UK English, which would always prefer Metric.
My wife's i9100 does not have a Google Account, and it gives the results in Metric. However she has stock Samsung/ADW.
Actually no, I don't have proof. It was just a guess.
Maybe it's a bug in the 4.2.1 Jellybam (or CM) version.
Edit:
I just found another thread on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827768
You have to activate Google Now to be able to change these settings. But I guess you can't activate Google Now without a Google-Account (still guessing, sorry).
Hi
I just got my Honor 7 and in the themes app I only have 6 themes available and I don't have any option/tab to look for more themes in internet. I've seen that other people has some tabs in the themes app like 'featured' 'top' 'mine' 'categories'.... but don't have any tab or option to access to new themes. Anyone knows how to solve this?
Thanks!
In the themes app, there's an icon at the bottom next to "customise", something like "access IEMI" (it disappears when you allow this, so I can't quite remember), once you say "yes" to this, you get all the online themes..

Erm, no idea. The only thing I can think is versions:
What version of software are you on? (B140 on mine). Is it the EU model (PLK-L01) ?

I've the EU version and I'm using the b121. I've read that the B140 has worst battery life than b121 so I don't want to update at the moment. Anyways is strange that I don't have that tabs but it's not a big problem. Is there an oficial website to download the themes and transfer them to the device through the computer? I only know the chinese site http://emui.huawei.com/cn/plugin.php?id=themezone but is there anyone for europe?
SOLVED: Ok, it was that i wasn't using a sim (I just got my nanosim) Now I got the message you said (IMEI access) and I get all the tabs.
