Hi there,
I recently installed JellyBam into my i9100. I have the standard Trebuchet installed with the Google Search bar widget.
When I type in Amsterdam weather, the weather is nicely displayed but the values are in Imperial.
How does one change it into Metric?
( It would be interesting to query the value of product.locale.region, but I don't know how)
( Please note I do not wish to install a new app for this. I simply want to know how to change the existing Google Search app. There are no options in the Settings menu).
Cheers, F.
There is a small "C" next to the temp displayed in Fahrenheit. Tap that, and it will change to Celsius. All future results will then be in metric.

Do the search at www.google.com via the browser, then try doing what I said. Then repeat your search using the search widget. The preference should carry over.

Nope. A search on Google.com gives it in Metric. The change is not carried through. It is specific to Google Search widget/app in Android.

That's totally weird. My results always get displayed in a browser window. Your results appear to be something else.
Check in the ROM thread?
EDIT to add: it's probably different for me since I'm on stock ICS, and you're running the JellyBam custom ROM, so this is about as far as I can go trying to help you, I think. Sorry.
OK. Shall try there. Cheers for the suggestions.
Did you check in Settings->Google Now->Weather->Weather Units?
Btw. which Jellybam Version are you using? The one based on 4.1.2 or the one based on 4.2.1?
V 4.2.1
Thee is no Google Now settings section .
Enter your search term; once the result is shown hit the left touch key and there should be a settings entry (at least it's like that in the 4.1.2 version).
Yes there is a settings entry, but nothing there adresses measurments.

Well it looks like that for me.
You do have a google-account, right?

No. Can you offer proof that a Google Account is required?
If no Google account was configured then one would think it would base results on GeoIP or the handset locale, which is the Netherlands and UK English, which would always prefer Metric.
My wife's i9100 does not have a Google Account, and it gives the results in Metric. However she has stock Samsung/ADW.
Actually no, I don't have proof. It was just a guess.
Maybe it's a bug in the 4.2.1 Jellybam (or CM) version.
Edit:
I just found another thread on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827768
You have to activate Google Now to be able to change these settings. But I guess you can't activate Google Now without a Google-Account (still guessing, sorry).

I like the Pocket IE home page with its search, history, favourites.
But i dont like the way it uses live.com for its search.
So you can make a quick regedit and now it uses google.

senergy, since you know how to create cab.
can you create this cab to fix the softkey calendar to switch to agenda
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113
"Open"="\Windows\Calendar.exe"
This is the problem with the latest LVSW
after applying the google hack, it seems there's a problem with more than one word searching! has anyone else experience this??
From the PIE home page multiple word searchs work fine but from WML they dont, it seems WML passes the info with html tags such as %20 for spaces. Not sure how to get around that besides not using WML
oh I see! thanx for the response!

how to change back to the original settings for WML?
I dont seem to have a copy of the original settings.
If someone can go into their phones registry and tell me what the value of
HKLM/Services/Windows Live/HSAppPlugins/SearchURL
Then i will make cab to restore the settings.
Senergy,
The original value is: http://mobile.live.com/search/Results.aspx?q=
Hope this is what you were looking for.
Murad
Thanks,
Here is a cab to return WML Search to its original value.
working great!
after more than a year, it still working!
thank you very much!
Better:
http://google.com/m/search?q=%s
%s passes the string from the input field in the PIE home page, but if you follow link here, it will give a google error
try this:

Hi, are there any UK based custom 2.1 ROMs?
flashed Villain3.4 but it seems the market is the US one so all the location specific apps are US and doesnt work properly
anyone point me in the right direction?
@nortynort
Sorry for writing this, but did you inform yourself before you wrote this new, unnecessary thread?
sorry it might've been daft, but the only way to get informed is to ask right?
MarketEnabler
Install market enabler and set your location to UK.
http://uploaded.to/file/en3pg4
nope mate ... the right way would be to make some research.
but I will give you the answer, have a look at page 1 from the Villain thread. Villain 3.4 basis is from an Eris dump, means the sources are from a US thought software leak.
There is no UK based ROM even no Mongolian based ROM, why? Because no official 2.1 release exists.

it is not only unnecessary, it is also in the wrong subforum.
Wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
"RTFM is an initialism for the direction "Read The ****ing Manual". This instruction is sometimes given in response to a question when the person being asked believes that the question could be easily answered by reading the relevant "manual" or instructions. It is also used to tell people to try to help themselves before seeking assistance from others."
So according to wikip phanes used the term correctly. And who wants to start a discussion concerning the validity of wikipedia? Not me. I believe in the peoples opinion.
Edit; Oh how i love metadiscussions..
As far as the original question goes. What is not working, market is fine for me using VillainRom 3.4?
Things submitted by U.S developers will show in $ anything in UK will show in £ and some will be Euro's you can still purchase them all the same.
Have you checked to see if you can change the "LOCATION" and "LOCALE & TEXT" options in SETTINGS?
I'm honestly trying to help, but no matter how I try wording the above, it always sounds a little condescending.

I'm not too knowledgable in this, but whatever app I download seems to be set to be US centric?
For example Yelp, which worked fine in the stock tmob uk ROM, now can't find my location at all. I set the currency thing in the settings to UK and it still can't find my location.
Other apps like pocketauctions for ebay are set to US by default but that one is managable as setting it to UK works fine.
Shopsavvy barcode scan feature no longer works, it doesn't recognise any barcodes anymore, I dont know if thats a US/UK thing as well. Typing products in by name brings up US prices. There's no setting to set it to UK.

Going to Settings ---> Location only gives the options "Use wireless networks" (Checked), and "Use GPS satellites" (unchecked)
Can't find a direct reference to Locale and text, but in the keyboard settings there's a LOCALE setting and clicking on it you can only choose a language

Hi All
I've googled this issue ive been having countless times, but to no avail. The problem is the following:
Ive just gotten my new xperia ray. I use the stock browser because its fast and basic. I often use the address bar for googling as I used to with my X10(both gingerbread). With my X10 I used to get the results displayed in the mobile google webpage. With my Ray, it doesnt do that. It gives me google search results, but displayed with a "powered by google" heading, and very limited access to things like images etc.
This is extremely annoying because I now need to first go to the google website before and search there if I want my search results displayed properly with the option of switching to image results. Some idiot at the sony factory thought he was smart and added this usesless stock setting.
I assume I somehow need to specify the settings of my stock search engine. All I get in settings is yahoo, bing and google. Nothing more and no more settings. Obviously google is selected as the stock search.
I hope theres someone out there who can give me some advice. I fear that otherwise this is going to piss me off untill ICS.

There is a help thread
Just change 'View Google in' on the bottom of the search page. Should fix it.
Thanks for the reply, but I think you might be misunderstanding. I dont want to view it in desktop mode, I want to view it in the normal mobile mode not the mode where it substitutes the normal google links (like images, maps etc) for a "powered by google heading"
I want to be able to search for say "cat", get all the web search results for cat and then have the image link availible so that I cab look at images of cats if I want to.
Atm I have to either go to the google website first to get the same results. If I search straight into the address box, I get the silly "powered by google" result.

AFAIK, it is not happening with mine. I got some tabs at the top to search another type (like image) Maybe you can try to log in to your google account first from browser, and then when you do a searching, try to find setting link from that page. I haven't tried it but if i remember correctly, with google account attached to your browser you might get what you want for.
Hi All!
I searched this kind of app but with no results ... maybe someone hase some suggestion. I am searching an application that can tell me "who is calling" in those cases where the called number is not in among my contacts. To do this the application should access via internet to databases such as yellow pages, white pages and tellows. It would be nice if the same application could use all of these 3 databases and, if a match is found, a pop-up should come up on the screen with the information found.
According to me such an app would be really usefull ... don't you think? Is there already something in the wild?
I recall hearing of such an application at least once before, but I can't remember the name or where I heard of it...I will have a look and see what I can find.
EDIT: A quick search found this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webascender.callerid&feature=search_result (whitepages only, official app seemingly)
Also this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gogolook.callgogolook2&feature=related_apps (seems more broad, but no list of what databases it uses)
EDIT: Another one: http://m.truecaller.com/

Yes. This is the kind of "look and feel" i was searching. Now the only problem is that this app is based on the US white pages. It would be nice to have more choice (white pages+yellow pages+tellow) and also the ability to choose (among a definite set of countries) the county of interest (like USA but also germany, italy, uk etc ...).
I am interested in the italian yellow pages (and similar) services.

Have a look at the other two apps I posted, both seem to be more international.
In the meantime i have found this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.tellows#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiZGUudGVsbG93cyJd
It is only based on tellow but it is only the german version If only this app could allow the user to select the country of interest ...
It seems that TrueCaller is not available on Google Play anymore ... it has been removed ... why? Should i trust such an app?

However, i will begin trying the other app, WhosCall. Let'see how it works. I will also email the developer about the databases they use. Maybe there is the possibility they point it out more clearly.
Hey guys, did a quick Google search on this and didnt see any answers to this bizarre quirk.
I am on non-rooted ICS (stock) - no comments from the peanut gallery about this. Once CM is stable enough that I feel I can use it, Ill switch.
Now, on to the problem.
I installed Chrome and set it to the default browser (but Ill probably change it considering what Im about to post) and set the home page to google.
I begin typing a search query, for example, 'Samsung AT&T No' and Google presents some suggestions of what it thinks Im going to actually search for. Tapping ANY of these suggestions hides the suggestion list and does NOT fill in my query with the suggestion I tapped. In addition, the keyboard is also hidden until I tap in the query edit field again.
In addition, Id like to just state for the record, xda is TERRIBLE on mobile (the website). I dont know what this new 'theme' is but it is barely functional on mobile, on the desktop, the website is completely broken in Firefox (14.0.1 w/ No Script and Tree Style Tabs plugins installed - and yes, I am enabling scripting for XDA).
So, I have reverted to the old xda theme until this is fixed.
BUT, does anyone know what is wrong with Chrome?
Is Chrome out of beta?
if you click the arrow next to the auto complete search query it will fill it in for you.
