[Q] Hboot problems - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im trying to flash the new radio and BAMF remix 1.5, and have for some reason when I try to get into Hboot(holding volume down and pressing power) it just boots up like it normally does. Ive searched the forums and tried to find a solution, either I'm doing something wrong or i've messed something up. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks again

Never mind I figured it out

Oh yes I am sorry. So the phone wouldn't get into download mode and I was getting frustrated. I am quite familiar with these things. I usually power the phone off. Plug it into the computer and hold the the power button with the two volume buttons. That wouldn't work so i finally tried this. I took my battery out. I then put the charger in ONLY holding the two volume buttons and it finally worked.

[Q] x10 hard keys dont work

Hi all,
I have a problem with the hard keys of my x10. Today my volume just increased without pushing the + button. It stopped when i touched the - button. This happenend a few times.
After a while none of the hard keys work. Can it be that the + button is stuck and thats why the buttons won't work? Someone else had this problem?
How to fix?

Please tell us more info so we can help you better. For example, which SE firmware are you running or ROMS from the x10 development section are you running?
Or?
Have you modded anything with your phone lately?
Thnks for your answer.
My phone is running on original android 2.3. My problems started when i putted my phone in a car holder, wich squeses the phone between 2 soft "pillows" and pushes the camera button. I drove for 2 hours like that. Maybe that could cause these issue? I havent modded anything to my phone lately.
Edit: forgot to say, when i shut down power of my phone and start it again the keys work just fine for like 2 minutes. After that the keys stop working.

It sounds like the keys are damaged. You would have to go to a repair center to fix that. If you find a different way to fix it let us know.

I have the same Problem, all Hard keys doesn't work keys work only for 2 minutes after EACH restart... factory reset doesn't help. I had the same problem before, when the OS was 2.1 then I upgraded to 2.3.3 using X1 service update (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ds/subject/updateservice/1.349192?cc=gb&lc=en) It worked like a champ for couple months Then now it has the same problem again... I got stuck upgrading... this phone sucks... it always get stuck at the point where it ask you to hold the back key then plug in usb cable ... it only work 1 times out of 20 tries...
My x10 works fine now, i havent done anything to the phone and now everything is working good. Kinda strange if you ask me.
To bad that you cant fix it. Im kinda scared that the problem will come back to my phone. But now it works good im fine with it.
Suddenly happen to my wife phone now. Anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

[Q] Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 screen wont turn on!

Hey guys i have the samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 model gt-p7510ma and the screen wont turn on. One day i accidentally hit the power and the volume buttons and now this device's screen wont turn on! I am at a complete loss as to what could be wrong. i was told that i may have to flash it back to factory to get it to work but i cannot find any stock rom download links. i have never dropped this thing so i dont know why the screen would just go out.
Does anyone have any suggestions tips or things that i may try to get this thing back operational? Right now it is just a 500$ brick. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
EDIT: when you hook tab up to computer it shows up as APX in device manager under unknown devices. I dont know if this helps but that a little more info.
Steve
have you tried charging it?
Apart from that I believe this is non-dev related, should go to Q&A section.
It might be that your device has hung. Press Power button and keep it pressed for 10seconds or something like that. And then try to turn it on again.
Sometimes it hangs like that. Especially if you are on some unstable custom rom.
/Edzz
it is actually running the stock rom I never rooted it or anything like that. To the guy above, of course I tried charging it that didn't work. It doesn't even show that it is charging on the scree. I have pressed and held the power button trying to get it into bootloader mode, but that did nothing. Wonder why the computer is picking it up as APX. Wonder what that is? Thank for the suggestions so far!
If you are on stock and not even rooted, then just take it back to shop or service for warranty. You will get if fixed immediately or working back in a week. Better play safe.
In your case I would do so.
/Edzz
black screen and apx on the computer usually means you're in the mode needed for nvflash.
i forget how to get out of that mode, but google nvflash and apx you should be able to get an answer.

Hey guys,
I've been having this same problem the last 24 hrs or so now. I'm running custom rom Cynagoen mod ICS 4.03. This is apparently one of the more stable roms out there. Prior to this I ran an alpha stage jelly bean rom which ran just fine until last night. After leaving the screen off for an hour or so, the screen won't turn on after pressing the power button. I reboot every time and that seems to work. Is there something I need to do here? Should I look for another rom, maybe a 3.x? Thanks guys

Maybe try upgrading your CM9 install. 4.0.4 is the latest flavor of ICS.

You could try reading the entire thread. Hold the power button down while touching the screen. That fixes the SOD (Sleep of death).

[Q] problem with rebooting+screen+swipe

My problem continues
i read all, 3 days reading and testing, and nothing new about my problem.
I have a problem with rebooting loop. (i cant touch correctly the power button, didnt work, also all the time is rebooting, or staying without screen light, i cant explain correctly!!)
I did all, back to stock, tried install many roms and kernels, but nothing works.
the best thing that i did to use it for few moments was.. use the swipe 2 wake, with AJK - using Siyah v.4.3.3 ICS over the SHOstock3.
The swipe 2 wake not works all the time, most of time the screen only wake up when i receive a income call.
But continues rebooting, most of times when i shake the phone.
Any idea for me?
Thank you

I got a great idea.....
STOP MAKING NEW THREADS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM!!

Here is an idea. Get a new phone, or your phone repaired. YOU HAVE A FAULTY POWER BUTTON. With all the reading and testing you have done would have thought you had that figured out. Quit making new threads about the same issue please. I am guessing we won't be seeing too much more of you around here if you keep it up.
Good luck getting you power button fixed.

Help. My phone is stuck in a boot loop

So I was charging my phone, and it restarted itself and now it's stuck in a bootloop!
I can't access download mode or recovery, it keeps restarting before I have the opportunity to press any buttons (hardware or on screen) and removing the battery does nothing either, as soon as I put the battery back in, the phone resets without me even pushing the power button
I'm using Temasek CM11 v8 with the "201113-1248-cm11-i9300-r3p2-linux30101-BOEFFLA-temasek" kernel
Is it recoverable?
I've managed to get it into both Recover and Download mode briefly, but both times the phone restarted within a few seconds back to the bootloop
Sounds like the power button is shorted out, fairly cheap repair if so.

Thanks for the reply. What makes you think that it's the power button shorting?
Holding power button for 5 seconds acts as a hard reset, everywhere.
That's a good starting point actually. There's no reason for download mode to reboot automatically. If it loaded then it waits for the events. Either it works until you do anything with a PC, or doesn't work at all.
hi
try using a universal battery charger and then try again

Ah Well I suppose that makes it pretty conclusive. 2 hours later and it's still bootlooping... I'd take it apart but I don't really know what i'm looking for and I suspect if it's shorting, something will need replacing or soldering etc. Thanks very much

I don't think I have one, I shall check though. Thanks very much
The issue of having it shortly resetting once reinstalled the battery sounds to me like a hardware failure, most probably hard resetting all the time.
A hardware repair should help fix this.

It's funny you say that, after hours and hours of trying to get my phone to work, somehow through more luck than judgement I managed to get it into recovery and flash WanamLite 7.2 (I figured it was the next best thing to stock, as I couldn't access download mode) and well... since then, touch wood my phone hasn't restarted itself even once... now granted in that time i've only touched the power button once, to turn on the device, but it seems like progress to me
So my question is, is it possible that I could of had a bad flash or something? It seems too coincidental to me, and I don't actually think the different ROMs have anything to do with the problem (that is still lingering beneath I suspect), but the optimist in me REALLY wants it to be fixed haha
EDIT: Oh and thank you tweetatoo for your reply

Possible its the well known multipleromflashed problem .

Interesting, thanks. It's just a bit confusing, it seems plausible because I flashed the ROM earlier in the day but at the same time, im not sure how much control the new ROM would have over the phone entering Download Mode... Mind boggling.
I'll keep an eye on it for a bit... and im still too scared to use the power button haha
Thanks very much
Download mode is entirely separate to the rom, I still think your power button shorted out (stuck down) as it's been reported many times before. If you have warranty then now would be the time to triangle away and return to stock for a while, just in case.
