hi. i'm new with android but i'm catching up.
i have installed official korean froyo and made a nandroid dump. later i decided to try nordic froyo which so far is the best stock rom out there. however i would like to have stock application in previous korean rom and install into current rom.
for an example i try FileManager.apk and FileManager.odex. i deleted existing filemanager and replace with the above files but nothing showing up in the drawer. i install it manually using file explorer but it give an error "application not installed".
am i doing wrong or not all stock application is compatible with other rom?. thanks
.........anyone/.?
I'm trying this as well. Have a go at wiping dalvik cache just after placing the new files in your system. Tell me how that goes

Hey everybody.
I've been using custom roms for a while now, but when I install a new one I need to disable fast dormancy with *#*#9900#*#* and change my HSDPA version with *#*#301279#*#* in order to get usable data speed with my carrier.
On roms that don't allow secret codes, I usually just replaced the phone.apk and contacts.apk with the stock versions and all would be fine, but on my current ROM, AndyX 8.0, it doesn't allow me to do this. I replace the files, reboot and get com.android.phone" error messages, no matter what files I try. I've tried wiping dalvik cache and fixing permissions but nothing works. Worked fine up until version 7.2 of this ROM.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Use the matching apk files from the stock rom .

Thanks for the reply. Still no luck, though
EDIT
Nevermind, got it . I tried doing it via root explorer, fixing permissions, wiping cache, making my own CWM update .zip file. In the end, the only way it worked for me was replacing the files inside my ROM's full update package and flashing the whole thing again.
hello, I am totally useless noobs.
sorry for bad english.
here's my question :
1. is it possible to remove an original apps (some developer apps / something that cannot be removed even I reset it to factory setting) without rooting my phone??
because I've read somehing in this forum about "ROM kitchen", so I can modify the stock ROM. because so many apps that I want to uninstall it.
2. how to get my current ROM in my phone??
I've search it for 4 days and no one have it. Sometimes I want to go back with the same firmware like I used now.
in order to remove system apps, you have to be rooted, you can uninstall it using titanium backup,

The stock rom, or the rom, or the firmware, is just the /system folder in your device.
In that folder you have to delete (or rename) in the folder /system/app/yourname.app and the corresponding .odex file to delete it from rom.
You can also use CWM.zip + Aroma Manager and load them sequentially from Recovery, choose in Aroma Manager to mount all partitions and do the above.
[Guide] Types of Android backups
There's also the possibility to modify yourself the rom, but, is much more difficult. If you are using Vodafone o other operator custom rom probably there is the unlocked one and is official (stock) as well.
I did a factory reset on my phone yesterday and decided to really clear out a bunch of stuff with titanium that I never use, including widgets. I deleted the stock clock app thinking it was a widget. Does anyone know where I can find that? I'm open to a different app but I'm quite happy with the stock JB clock app.
Thanks!
Did you try doing a reset again?
tell your version and Rom so someone can upload it for you
i717, 4.1.2, stock and rooted
I haven't tried that because some of the bloat I deleted previously (Yahoo, some other stuff) was gone this reset.
also there are 2 other ways to get it back
flash stock Rom and you will lose root
flash custom Rom
also next time i suggest doing a backup via CWM

Factory reset won't replace any deleted files. All it does is delete user data and downloaded apps, and makes all settings to default.
Flashing the same rom on top of your rom will replace missing files and put back all the apps you deleted.
I suggest you use Titanium to freeze any unwanted things, then run a few days like that, then eventually delete the frozen apps.
I am on Telus and when I want to revert back to stock with all the bloat (well not quite all the bloat) I simply flash the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268617
[ROM][Modems] Custom Canadian Jelly Bean - Rooted & Deodexed. A similar thread exists for ATT. Then I restore additional apps via titanium backup or my apps in play store.

Google CM cLock apn. Very easy install. I always use this and not all the custom ROMs include it.

here is stock clock.apk and odex file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8psbgzybq5y3ze0/ClockPackage.apk ___ https://www.dropbox.com/s/0c0u7eoyyph22c3/ClockPackage.odex. download and move to system/app and make sure permisions are set properly then reboot. if you are running a stock deodexed rom you will need to remove clock package from that rom instead.
Thanks guys!
The dropbox clock downloads but doesn't install. Permissions are correct.
did you try installing like normal apk or did you place in system/app? should place in system/app. both clock.apk and odex.apk
Like normal? I'm afraid I don't know how to do the second one.
using a file manager that has root access(i use root exploerer but there are lots) move the apks that you downloaded into system/app folder. then long press the file until you get menu to come up and select set permissions. should be rw-r--r--. change if not. then reboot.
I use an LG Exceed 2 and like a month ago I went into superuser and deleted some android files which came with the system, I factory reset it and now it says "Unfortunately, LGSetupWizard has stopped." Is there a way I could recover those files at all? I went into Safe Mode and it said the same thing! Please help!
You will have to refresh the stock software.

You need to either reflash the system, or find TWRP flashable zip of your current OS, extract it and copy the items you deleted. Or you can try editing build.prop and change "ro.setupwizard.mode" value to "DISABLED". It might work after reboot

How would I do that?
maybe u deleted the setup files that we use after booting a new rom or killed the launcher.
Just copy the files u deleted by recovery or reflash ur built in rom.

do u have ur stock rom?
if yes..
Then..
1)extract your rom with any archiver software.
ex-winrar,zarchiver
for pc - winzip etc
(pro version recommended)
There's an app called setup wizard.
(it depends on your rom.
On samsung stock its samsung setup wizard, on cm its cyanogenmod setup wiz)
U will see something like that on your
rom/system/app or priv-app/here
copy that one to ur phone's root/system/app or priv-app
exactly where its located on ur stock rom.
(u need a root explorer software to put that in ur system)
Easiest way is find ur stock rom and flash it.
If u r new to this things, get help from somebody who knows.
Hey guys, i wanted a Android stock experience in my new rom so i put it on all Gapps, and thanks to the root access, i uninstalled all apps i didn´t want, but in all the things i deleted, i deleted two things i didn´t want:
-One of this wasn´t very important, but i managed to recover it, i refer to com.android.providers.calendar (i had another calendar calendar app and i wanted the Google one, but i deleted that archive which i didn´t know what was).
-The non-solved problem are the downloads, i have the ES File Explorer and i deleted all the System Apps with the android stock download icon, i think they are android.providers.downloads and android.providers.downloads.ui, i downloaded with the pc both apks (because now i can´t download nothing with the mobile phone, that´s my only problem left with the mobile, but i think it is a big one), but the thing is i can´t install none of them because it says "App not installed the package conflicts with an existing package by the same name". Anyone can help me with this issue?
PD:i deleted it because i wanted the "Downloads" app of android stock (i had no one with my actual rom and I am used to have one).
What a mess. You can't just randomly delete system files and expect no problems. Dirty flash your rom and start again.
They said the same with the calendar problem and i managed to solve it, there has to be a manner to solve this too, i mean i have all configured in the new rom and the only problem i have right now is this, i´m not going to flash the rom again at this ponit.
Are you trying to re-install the missing download apk's with app installer? I would just replace the missing files in the correct system app folders and reset their permissions to rw-r-r-
Which rom are you on? You may have to backup your current rom setup in TWRP, reinstall the rom, copy the necessary files and folders, noting where they go, then restore your rom backup and replace the files where they should be.

If you deleted them with ES file explorer they may still be in the recycle bin.
I have nothing in recycle bin, i wanted somebody to tell me how to recover the downloads like i recovered the calendar, i have the apk but i can't install, anyone has the .zip to install it via recovery or any android downloader i could use? I think there has to be somebody who had the same problem and managed to solve, and PLEASE, don't tell me to re-flash the rom, all i want is a solution, deleting all i have done is not one.

Im sorry but you have to dirty flash. I don't understand why would you do such a thing but that doesn't matter. If you dirty flash your ROM they will be reinstalled and you still have your data.
