Is there such thing as dock? - G Tablet Accessories

There seems to be a port on the bottom of the tablet that is perfectly suited for docking, it seems. Is there such thing as dock for GTab? If not what the port for?
Thank
Eugene

Yes.. Google Malata z pad dock, or just poke around this forum. Google electronic crap com too. Sorry, not sure we're supposed to post links.

I don't think you looked very hard before posting as the thread 'gTab hdmi dock REVIEW' is almost always in the first or second page of the accessories section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865038

Seen HDMI dock thread but did not read into it as i have no interest in HDMI(ing) But after i posted this question i did looked in there and seems like its same dock, HDMI port or not.
Sorry for doubleposting, perhaps i had an extra slow day up in my head.

LOL, maybe your pressure is just a little low. I prefer 30psi or more myself.

[Q] An ASUS transformer keyboard for gtab?

Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker but never really posted that much.
i was wondering if there was any way that the ASUS transformer keyboard can be hacked with the gtab dock adapter? I dont im alone in this, or if not that do you think there will be some third party who would make one? I think the sale on woot and now amazon might help push manufactures to make it.
Its very less likely that the keyboard would work due to the proprietary connector.
That said, a blutooth keyboard with a 10" enclosure should work no problem, and I see many manufacturer going into this once the transformer style become popular.
There is nothing unique about the eee keyboard the convertible style keyboard was already available for IPAD2 long before any one knew about the EEE.

I just love the idea that I can have a netbook and a tablet and switch at my convenience. The links that you posted is exactly what I am looking for. Is there anything in that style that will fit the Gtab?

unfortunately not that slick, you currently can go with the clip cases with USB or BT keyboards, they are very campy compared to this (well at least the USB version doesn't cost that much).
That said, I think with the huge recent surge in GTab owners, I don't think it would be that before some go on and make a professionally looking case like the ones quoted above (esp if the EEE transformer goes popular)
Crossing my fingers to that! I've spent a lot of time looking at everything that is currently available for our G tabs, and nothing seems "professional"; instead it all looks slapped together. Engadget has been posting a few articles about the G tab and with the lower price and the over clocking kernels....
Here me hoping that some third party shines some light back in Viewsonic's direction.

How do you guys hold your primes?

In the dock or by itself?
I normally use mine on a table while docked and laying down when undocked.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
I tend to either use mine in the dock if on a surface, or portrait in my hands sometimes if I'm reading something. Any text entry makes me want the dock in a hurry.
By itself always in landscape mode. Thumb keyboard makes it very easy for me to type very fast. Plus holding it with 2 hands less likely to drop it. That's the goo thing with thumb keyboard. MAKES YOU get used to holding it thst way.

I hold Mine like you, however I use the Android virtual keyboard and not the default Asus one. I think the android one rocks I can type so quick with it, quicker then I can with the dock! The default Asus one is a pile of dog turd, if you press letters within a split second of each other it gets confused and just types out some randomness.
Haven't tried thumb keyboard before however, might give it a look

When not docked, I use a thumb keyboard and tend to hold mine landscape.
When docked, it sits on my desk much like my former eepc would.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
I split about half and half between landscape and portrait. But when I type, I always have it in portrait because thumb typing is a stretch in landscape.
Autobots, roll out! Sent from my Transformer Prime.
unless I'm playing a game, I use my Prime mostly docked and I use it anywhere, in the bed, on the sofa, sitting at the kitchen counter, etc.
When I read those threads, I can't believe my eyes... Come on opening a thread about how people hold their Prime? Who cares?

Here's an idea. If you don't care just move along. Wise words your momma should taught you are "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all."
report for what? general talk in the general forum? If you dont like it you dont have to come to this thread. easy as that. read the topic and think "wow thats something i really dont need" and you dont click it and easy as that.
Sigh, the ignorance of some people.
As to myself, i usually have mine in the dock, im considering getting some 3m carbon fiber stuff for the back, the aluminum scratches so easy... :/

The Asus one has Swype-like functionality from Nuance, so it assumes you're trying to swipe if you press keys in rapid succession. I think you can turn it off in the settings.
I don't like any on-screen keyboards much though.
I use the Steve Jobs technique!
Cheers

You mad brah's? As mentioned before this is general discussion for this device. Its not a support question, and has nothing to do with development so it goes in this forum. Don't like it? Then don't open the thread. And the whole reporting thing (for nothing wrong), don't waste the mod's and admin's precious time. They won't do anything about it.

You are definitely going to have to make that yourself. Maybe a mixture of a car dock and a clamp. I just use an old stand from my captivate that thankfully the s2 fits into

I saw them a few days a go, their pretty cool hey.
I just don't like the angle they sit on makes it so you have too hold the controller up to my face.
I made another (much like my previous ) a few days ago with a bit more of an angle.
Feels much better to hold.
His one just much more convenient though haha

Case with Bluetooth Keyboard

To use my Xperia Tablet Z profesionally, I realized that I need a physical keyboard. For the onscreen keyboard I installed Swiftkey and I'm satisfied with it compared to other onscreen keyboards but it is no competition for a physical one.
I looked around on various sites e.g. Amazon but unfortunately there is no case with integrated bluetooth keyboard has been designed specifically for the XTZ. There are enough bulky, generic cases with keyboards out there but let's be honest... we hate bulky crap! If you bought an XTZ you want a clean and professional looking case. :cyclops:
The Kensington KeyFolio Expert Folio & Keyboard for Android/Windows tablets appealed to me because of it's interesting micro-suction technique to hold the tablet in place. I decided to give it a try and was able to order one for EUR 50,-.
I'm sharing a couple of pics for you guys to see what it looks like together with the XTZ. The keyboard fits my needs perfectly and pressing any key works to wake up tablet. The dimensions of the XTZ seem perfect for this case and so I must say I am satisfied. Especially because this case allows a position where you can charge from the micro usb port! That darn micro usb port has finally been owned

What do you think?
Doesn't look too bad considering the others I've seen online. I needed something similar but went for a separate logitech bluetooth keyboard and the poetic case. In my job I need the ability to type quickly while sat in an office but also to take the tablet out around steel plants and take notes where I couldn't use the case keyboard. How do you find using the XTZ as a normal tablet with the on screen keyboard in that case? I can just imagine that having to keep changing the input method in settings each time I wanted to use Swiftkey instead of the cases keyboard would be a bit of a nuisance.
does the keyboard consume quickly the battery?
Could you please link the case that you bought? Tried searching for it but found alot of different version both for the iPad and stuff. Would be nice if you could paste a direct link to the case so I dont make any mistake if I buy one.
Is this the right one? amazon.com/Kensington-KeyFolio-Multi-Angle-Bluetooth-K39532US/dp/B007RB10K4
Please excuse me jumping in on your thread?
Not exactly confused but needing a bit more solid feedback on available android keyboards for XPERIA TABLET?
I have just watched the video on the kensington and it seems fine to me.but I wondered what other choices are out there? I have spent a long time searching and all I can find is APPLE Keyboards and one or two generic keyboards for Android.
I know Logitech make one which is probably the front runner?
any additional feedback most welcome as I have just ordered my Xperia z tablet

As long as the "Apple" keyboards use bluetooth you should be good. Most keyboard will work with the XTZ, it just boils down to personal preference.

Apple For Android???
Hello shangrila500
Really do appreciate your reply,I am not very tech minded..so it all takes a bit longer to sink in with us old folk
are there any good reasons why you would not use an APPLE keyboard with an ANDROID Device?
Something I and maybe others have not thought off, because if we can use an APPLE Keyboard then the choices really do increase, from 2-3 good keyboards,Kensington,Zagg e.t.c to a very wide choice.
Would love to hear from folk who have being using APPLE pads and how they find them

The only reason you would not want to use it is if it has some proprietary Apple connection that is what it communicates via. If it uses bluetooth you should be fine.
Ive recently found a sharp looking Nexus 10 keyboard that looks like it should work, the only thing I am worried about is that the case has the rounded edges for the Nexus tablets instead of the sharp square ones like our tablet has.
Here is a link to it:
http://www.amazon.com/GreatShield-S...67698&sr=8-26&keywords=nexus+10+keyboard+case
It may not work but im going to order one next month when I get paid and test it out. Im in the middle of writing reviews for the cases I currently have for the XTZ so I may wait to post them until I get that case/keyboard combo and just post them all together.

I believe you would be wasting your time because the case is dimensionally and geometrically incompatible with the XTZ. Even its cutouts are in the wrong locations. The case also looks bulky, heavy (15.2 ounces), and God-awful ugly.

I don't think it looks that bad for a keyboard case, it looks a lot better than most and out of all the keyboard cases I've seen it looks the best. It is going to weigh quite a bit because of what it is, if Sony made a KB case for the XTZ it would be nice and sleek but until then we have to ,odify cases that have been released for other tablets that are going to be bulkier.
The weight is on par with other keyboard cases and will be about the same as the Surface KB case that someone has already confirmed worked for our tablet
A for the geometrical imperfections I plan on making some modifications to the case to hopefully make it work, it may not in the long run but I plan on eventually getting a Nexus 10 so if I think there is no possible way it will ever work once i get it I will just hang on to it.
The cutouts are going to be wrong on every KB case until Sony or someone else releases one specifically for the XTZ.
All that being said I may just go with the Surface case for a KB case, I just don't particularly case for it but beggars can't be choosers.
P.S.
Would you mind if I sent you a PM to ask a few questions?
