So what is the next option if you like samsung phones. Droid Charge or Galaxy S II (If it ever makes it to verizon).
If it makes u feel better its not a noob question imo jus cuz wen I bought my fascinate way back wen it came n the guy at verizon told me 4g would be backwards compatible n that I would have it wen it came out... Guess they were as informed about 4g at the time as they were bought the new froyo 2.2 w flash that was goin 2 be released at the end of that month lol.... Verizon reps suck

[Question] Im recieving a vibrant 4g as a gift

Is there any custom roms? Or should i sell it and keep my vibrant? I was looking at the 4g forum and it looked pretty dead. Anyone know if its compatible with regualr vibrant roms?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
from wht i know its not totally compatible!
So there arent very many roms available? I want the ffc and 4g
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
then keep it stock and enjoy the ffc and 4g...
So there are no roms for the 4g?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Not really. Doesn't seem to have any active developers.
The lack of developers is what's keeping me from getting one.

Think i should go with the new or the old one? Im getting it for free so i dont know

You keep saying you want a custom Tom for the galaxy s 4g, and we keep telling you there really aren't any nor is there an active development community for it, and you still keep asking the sake question.
If you want custom roms, stick with the vibrant. If you want ffc, 4g, and no custom roms, go with the sgs 4g. Pick your poison.

Yeah, he posted how to, but he's not developing for it, so it's up to other users to do the leg work, which people aren't stepping up to do.

If you get one, i could port roms you want over from the vibrant. Just pm me the rom you want and i will port it.
I would trade it for a G2 or Galaxy Tab (if you get lucky). Or just sell it on ebay. Just avoid the Mytouch 4G since you are out of warranty if one of the slews of issues with that phones occurs.

I'll pass, tablets aren't really my thing. And, I'd rather have a g2x than a g2. G2's are kind of wack. Im just waiting for a phone that really blows me out of the water.

MoPho GSM question

Does the GSM radio help when roaming in the US? Was thinking of getting this phone for my wife since Sprint reception is horrible were she works. Also how is the battery life?
Was hoping for a non root answer as she will not want me to root it. She, for some reason, doesn't enjoy when things don't always work.

GSM will not help in u.s. however it has the best reception of any sprint phone I've used. Battery will last all day.

Photon 4G isn't an LTE device, it's WiMax. Minor difference. But you can get the whole suite of Photon 4G wallpapers here.

4g question

Thinking of upgrading to this phone and was wondering if the whole thing with the phone not picking up Wimax is software based or something with the hardware. I'm in Saint Louis, MO and it doesn't look like we are getting LTE from sprint anytime soon.

LTE only

Thanks for the response but that did not answer the initial question of whether this is software or hardware issues as to why.

Yes and not to sound indignant but the way I worded the question the knowledge that the phone only picks up LTE is already there. I was asking why that is and if it was a software or hardware issue, not for clarification on the type of network the phone can use.

Thanks for the link.

No problem. Reading back over this thread, are you wanting to know about the LTE connectivity issue, or why an LTE phone won't work on Wimax?
Sent using my HTC EVO LTE and a magic wand
Wanting to know exactly why, if it is a software issue there may be a work around, if it is hardware then obviously there is nothing to be done.

Wimax and LTE are two different types of 4G, and they operate on different frequencies, therefore they aren't compatible with one another. As far as the LTE connectivity issue that many EVO LTE users have complained about, it's not entirely known whether it's a hardware issue, software issue, or both. The thread I provided you the link to above deals with the connectivity issue.
Sent using my HTC EVO LTE and a magic wand
Wimax support requires an entirely different radio chip inside the phone, which the EVO 4G LTE does not have (one of the main reasons being battery life). It will never have Wimax support.
So it is hardware then. Buying the phone next weekend anyways, the 3g speeds here in St Louis aren't that terrible until you go inside a building. Thanks for that confirmation.
