Nope, MOD CLOSE PLEASE

I'm on BAMF Remix, working fine for me.
I debated answering. Being insensitive and impatient won't serve you well around these parts.

if you research this, the sirius xm app seems to have some type of disable over 3g function so that you cannot use it over 3g. but then people claimed that it started to work, but only for 10 minutes over 3g. some people even posted that they called sirius support, and they were told that this app is specifically blocked from streamign over 3g. so who knows. its a buggy app though.

Not my experience at all.
The Sirius app works perfectly on my Thunderbolt (Verizon), my Nexus S (TMobile) and iPhone 4 (AT&T) over 3G/4G connections. I'm listening to Srius's Dr Radio on the iPhone 4 over a 3G connection right now. I listened to it in the gym on the Thunderbolt for two hours on Tuesday. No noticeable bugs for me.
The app pops up a warning when you're not on WiFi about excessive data charges are possible over cellular data, but it doesn't prevent you from using it.
To the OP - impatience is understandable when you're frustrated, but the xda crowd isn't very tolerant of breaking etiquette...

Im on VirusRom and cannot connect to sirius. Im in a 3g only area with no available wifi anywhere nearby. The sirius app just keeps acting like its loading, and thats all it does, it never starts streaming for me.

I'm pretty sure its the Rom I switched to boltofphotons and the app works now
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Yes, probably something in your ROM, or you're in a weak 3G signal and something streaming like this taxes it.
Stock phone, and Das BAMF the app works just fine on my Thunderbolt.
Does it stream fine on wifi? How about other streamers like Pandora or the like.

I've got a TB and an Evo. TB is running Liquid 1.0 with the new radios and it works fine for me on both 3G and 4G as of this morning. App is known to be buggy tho- it didn't play nice with the last Evo RUU (3.70) and broke streaming (but was fixable with a hack to proxy settings)- but whether that's Sprint's fault (as Sirius says) or Sirius's fault (as Sprint says), nobody really knows.

Ive seen posts about people on VirusRom not getting sirius to work, Ive seen posts about people on VirusRom that did get sirius to work. Anyone have any ideas about whats up? Any ideas about how to fix it besides switching Roms?
Signal strength is -70 dBm/ 3g only area and no wifi for hundreds of miles from me. I also use a dual band signal booster in my home. And apps like Pandora do work for me. I just cant stand Pandora.

I don't have the answer to this, I'm afraid, but there are threads about this in Eris General. Several people have noticed that this happens, including me. It's happened to me with both wired and wireless tethering. It was horrible. And then I did some research and found a way to wired tether that was different. It uses your phone as a proxy server.
If you don't mind wired tethering and want to try this, see my thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852618.
It's not my idea, I just found it. Inititally, it worked great, to be honest. Much more reliable and I still have never had the 3G drop with this method. However, for whatever reason (perhaps something specific with my setup on my computer and/or phone), it wasn't working so well several days back so I went back to wireless tethering, and although I still have problems for the most part things are okay. When it becomes unbearable again I'll once again go back to this "Proxoid" method.
Thanks I appreciate the help.

Free WiFi!?

OK so question is, is having a rooted Tbolt and the hotspot rooted .apk really free? I chewed up almost ten gigs last month, but mostly through the phone. Not sure how much was actually tethering. Couldnt have been much. Got netflix running through ps3 via the root hotspot .apk today and destroyed over 800megs in an hours time. I wanted to know, had we have the ability to watch Netflix on our tbolts, would the same show I watched eat up the same amount of data? What are some of your guys data usage over the past month using root hotspot? And any billing issues? Thanks for any input because I don't wanna crush almost another gig til I get some feedback

I'm just a noob guy.
New here and wanting to make some friends.
These guys fricking rock here.
I see no reply so I just thought I would say hi.
The topic of free hot spot and tether is kind not cool right now.
peace.
Edit
Just came from the x, every one is freaking out about this topic right now.
I didn't even know about that offer.
Leave it to a noob.
Free hotspot and tethering is extended for another month.
Assuming when you're streaming netflix to a PC or your PS3 you're getting HD it would be less when using your phone. I would imagine anyway. The Thunderbolt's screen is 800x480. 720p is 1280x720. SD widescreen would be 854x480 (for 19:9) So, netflix on your phone would only need to be SD. Obviously, that's less data than HD. And if anything, VZW would probably say they suspect you're tethering without paying and tell you to sign up. I doubt they would just add to your bill because they can't say you're not just a heavy data user.
And legitimate WiFi tether is free for another month thanks to the Charge, VZW's second LTE device.
I would assume when using the actuall netflix app on the phone it is designed for a smaller screen so the video feed is less data intensive to save data.

The answer is no. Rooting the phone does not change the way the *built-in* hotspot app works. It's Verizon's app and they can see that you're using it. It's free for now because VZW has extended the free trial period, but after that ends you will be charged for using the mobile hotspot app.
However, since your phone is rooted, you can use a *different* wifi tethering app that they can't track.

Yeah, the text was sent out to almost all TB users today. It has nothing to do with the fact that you used the app.

Does that mean other tether apps for rooted phones wont be free, or do they work around the charges?

They will still use the workaround. But no one knows yet if VZW will still be able to track.
just download barnacle wifi tether from the market. its totally free and verizon cant track it

Wifi Data stops when BT + Phone radio are being used??

I use my phone for work and frequently on conference calls. I use wifi when I'm home and I am 99.99% I never had this problem with my Evo 4G but now, if I am on the phone, utilizing bluetooth with wifi on, my data stops. All I have to do is shut off the BT radio and data will fire up again.
Any of you seeing this on your end and do any of you know if this is a new limitation we'll be dealing with for ever(at least until we get root and move past this stock rom)
Bump bump... Am I really the only with this problem?
3g has been working awesome for me. I just got a new bluetooth a few days ago n noticed that sometimes I can't get a damn thing going on 3 g while the bluetooth is on.
I thought I was the only one. Never tried your combo of wifi n bluetooth. But I will now n keep an eye on it.

Perhaps the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is housed on one chip w/ 1 antenna? Not sure for the evo 3d but it's been done on other phones.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I started play around with it more, thinking I was looking my mind and it seems to be some kind of software issue because if I turn wifi off and then back on when this starts happening I can get it to work.
So weird.... Let me know what you guys experience.
Thanks!
I did all those u stated and WiFi was still kicking
Bussin Caps n 3D
Having the same issue. No data can get through while I'm using a headset. When I'm not on a call though, it works fine. BT and WiFi both work on the same frequency band. When I had both enabled on my epic, people complained about the sound cutting out. Dropping WiFi in favor of call quality may be an option that HTC has taken. Curious to see how it evolves, because i tend to use WiFi while calling.

I have that same issue with Internet calling, not just WiFi calling with the Amaze (which I haven't tried yet). I use an inexpensive VOIP system at home called NetTalk. It plugs directly into your router which avoids the necessity of having a computer turned on in order to work. I'm generally pleased with it, but I experience frequent delays in audio between home and anyone else - whether they are on a traditional land line, cell phone, or another VOIP. It's like listening to the audio track from conversations with the space shuttle. I honestly don't know whether it's an issue with Internet traffic/speed or the system itself, but it does get annoying. However, at $30 a year and considering how infrequently we use a "land line", I put up with it.
Yes I have the same problem, I was told it was a rom issue.

[Q] VZW GNII Tethering Data Issues

I live about a mile from the nearest VZW LTE tower. I have a direct line of site to it from my back deck. I have the GNII and an iPhone 5 and my previous Android device was a GS3 (Verizon). Tethering with the GS3 was OK, and the iPhone is great, but with the Note its subpar at best. I have the $30 unlimited tethering package (No other High Speed internet options where I live). I have been experiencing data drops when tethering to the note and the speed is definitely lower and less reliable than when I am using the iPhone. I REALLY prefer using my note, does anyone know of any radio fixes or firmware to help correct the issues with GNII tethering? I can post screenshots if necessary, and I do understand that the GS3 used a Quallcomm chipset while the Note uses the Exynos radio, so I expected differences, just not this much. I also will note that using the Note while not tethering doesn't seem to be an issue at all. I can surf, view youtube in HD on the device etc without much buffering time at all, but when I tether it it will drop out several times in just a few minutes. Any info or opinions would be great. Many thanks guys.
I have the same problem from time to time. Keep in mind this phone just out and I'm sure we will get firmware update down the road. I had bluetooth pairing problems with my HTC phone at first when I got them.
If you restart your hotspot when it happens it might reduce the drop out problem. It works for me when I start getting that problem.
I swap back and forth between the official VZ hotspot and the TreE Mod wireless tether.
We use tethering for my ipad, my daughters ipod and a very fast PC laptop.
I find the TrevE mod is consistently faster than the VZ hot spot for some reason, but the reason I use both different methods is that I'm never sure which one will stay connected better on any given day.
One day, one will work better and the next day the other one will work better and I never know ahead of time which will be the right choice that day. I have unlimited data and don't pay to tether so I can't call VZ and ask. I don't really tether all that much or I would pay for it (I'm definitely NOT one of those DBs that uses 150 gigs a month with a free wireless tether and then brags about it) but I just live with the little quirks as I'm getting it free anyway.
I use TrevE mod and have a rock solid connection. I can stay connected for days at a time. Considerably faster than my Galaxy Nexus was.
I've downloaded a couple hundred gigs so far. It NEVER drops connection.
Scott's CleanRom FTW.
This phone has an awesome radio.

You know it's really funny that you mention this because I just got a killer deal on an iPhone 5 and my whole intent was to just flip it and make some $$ and that is exactly what I did! Anyways, I live right next to an LTE tower too and I found that the iPhone 5 sucked at data speed tests and tethering... In fact, the iPhone just SUCKS period!! You gotta be connected to wifi just to download an app over 50mb from the app store???? WTF?? I really didn't know just how lucky us Android folks are! :good: My post is not about bashing the iPhone or anything but I just thought I would chime in cause I had the exact opposite effect of what you are posting about...
BTW: Is it just me or does the iPhone 5 suck REALLY bad?? It was actually dropping frames in some heavy games that I was playing on it... I thought that Crapple was supposed to have the superior gpu? Guess NOT! Well at least I got to play with IOS for about 24 hours before it was sold on Ebay to some poor guy that thinks it's a great phone... Okay, maybe I did post in this thread just to flame.
I have the note 2 and clean rom 4.5 installed. Using stock tetherer I experience tons of dropped data. Anyone have a link to exactly what I need for travel mod? I've tried installing and turning on hot spot and it just doesn't turn on.

Which tool do you use to measure packet loss? I use the hotspot feature all the time at the gym (mostly for web browsing) with my tablet and have not noticed any issues (I am on cleanrom 4.5). Note that when it rains the signal usually drops to 3g in this location.
