[Q] New radio update - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get the new radio to update...I boot into hboot...it goes through the process but doesn't ask if I want to update?...just goes back to the original screen... I have the file on the root of the card...it has the correct spelling of the file but still no luck... I'm not rooted but what I have read you don't have to be to apply this update... What am I doing wrong?... Thanks...

I believe you need to have S-off

I've taken all the ota firmware and updates. Can I still root?

I've kept abreast of the current state of s-off and root for the past week and have done some searches but haven't seen a concrete answer yet.
Will I still be able to apply the s-off and root method using the prescribed procedures and software considering I've downloaded all the available ota firmware?
Thanks in advance.

If the ROM you flash doesn't already have the updates baked in, which they will, then yes.

[Q] how can i root HTC GRATIA?

Is there any way rooting HTC Gratia without an xtc clip?
Sent from my R800i using XDA Premium App
Yes. First you will need to use this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133446
Next you need to use this to S-OFF and install custom recovery to your phone: http://revolutionary.io/ (this was formerly known as AlphaRevX)
Please keep in mind that there is not currently a known method to return to S-ON.

No, the only way is to follow the steps that have been outlined for you.
So it can be bricked easy under the operation? :/

Not if you read and follow instructions carefully. Also, I don't see how anyone could manage to brick their device using this method (if they follow instructions).

Well, I have not heard about anyone bricking their device using this method, so if you do manage to brick it, I'm sure you definitely did something wrong which no one can be blamed for other than yourself.
looks like the site for generate Goldcards is down. does any1 know if it ever coming back?

ll the tools use the same web site to generate the goldcard.img file. When the site is down all the tools are rendered unusable.

It's likely to be back online but the question is when. It could come back tomorrow, next week, next month even or never. Or, the website could even be changed.

That's because the power button is no longer the way to "select" a choice in Recovery. If you press the power button a second time when that happens it will come back.
Press the trackball button to select and you can use the trackball to move around as well.
I'm not a big fan of the change either. You can flash any version of CWM you want though.

It's a sdcard with a special boot sector image (from Revskills in this case) applied, based on the serial number of the sdcard. it temporarily bypasses your phone's CID to allow flashing HTC updates intended for other carriers/distributors.

Dude you can root after the OTA. Do a search for root after ota. There are many threads about it.

In another thread people are claiming you don't need stock recovery (but will need all apps and such) to get the OTA. Not sure if this is specific to Amon Ra or if cwm is also ok.

Sorry, work intervened with my XDA posting. Stupid work.
If you download the PH98IMG.zip (I can post it if you need me to), open it woth 7zip, and it should be recovery.img.
Place the recovery.img in your adb folder.
Then you boot to hboot, select fastboot, and using abd:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Rooted but usb is messed up, looking for a stock PJ75IMG.zip

I have an evo 4g lte which i rooted originally using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671577 unfortunately when I did it it messed up my usb (windows and linux both can't get at it) does anyone have a PJ75IMG.zip I can load over hboot or a way to get it out of the RUU? The root works and the phone still functions but no usb. If I could get back to stock I can give this another shot and not hork it up this time

Just download the RUU and extract it from there. If you search, there are instructions on how to do this.

P.S. When you find the 'rom.zip' file, just rename that to PJ75IMG.zip, and you can flash it.

sd card went kaput on me. I had stock rom on it before that was flashable from the bootloader (PJ75IMG.zip) and would like to have it again, been looking around but can't seem to find one. If anyone can point me the right way that would be super.
Thanks

It was a PM75IMG that had the stock (no root) Rom, stock recovery, basically put everything back to stock minus the bootlader.

From what I can tell it's all stock, just have to use his s-on script after. So it must be everything.
