Is there a program or App you can install on you Thunderbolt that will allow you to auto power on and off your phone like the blackberry tour? I would love it if I could set a time on my phone for it to shut down and then come back on a couple hours later. EX: turn off at 1am and turn on at 5am. That way it can get a charge while its off. I loved this feature on my blackberry however I hated blackberry!
I also would like to find this, at night I would have it reboot for bump charge effects and when Im in school generally not using my phone Id have it turn off.
Problem I see is that the blackberries never truly shut down unless the battery is pulled out, they go into a hibernation mode. Once an android phone is off not sure how you'd be able to turn it back on.
That's exactly what he wants the unit would be in deep hibranation mode.

You can hibernate the phone, not sure about an auto wake tho...
Try to hibernate, then set an alarm.

Tasker just got an update that allows system reboot (and you can set up profiles to time it automatically). Haven't tried it yet (critical to have my phone on all day today) but will let you know how it works.

Not sure how to edit a response on my bolt. Anyway, I went ahead and tried. Tasker (paid app) works to schedule a reboot on our Bolts - even gives you an option of what kind of reboot to do. Both tests (simple reboot and a profile to reboot at a specific time) worked.

Okay - Tasker is basically set up in a "When this happens, do this" format. We gotta set up a context (the time you want) for it to do something (reboot)
So, for your auto-restart, we'll do:
1) Select new - Name the Profile (Let's Use "Reboot" just for now, feel free to rename however you want)
2) Select Time as your context - this will be the "When this happens" part
3) the time is Military, so let's say you wanted it to reboot at 3AM every morning, select 0300
4) Hit Done
5) Select New Task
6) Name the new task if you want (you don't have to name it, but for ease, let's put it as "Reboot Android")
7) Click the "+" symbol to add a task, Select "Misc", and then select Reboot
8) If you want just a simple reboot, leave everything as is and hit done
9) Hit Done again, and you are set.
10) Hit apply at the bottom of the screen, and Tasker will "engage" - make sure that there is a green checkmark next to the profile you just created and the bottom right of the program says "On"
**If you want to test out this profile, you can always set the time to 5 mintues from now and then wait and see. I've tested the time part of this and it works just fine to reboot.
If you need any clarification, feel free to ask. I'm no expert at Tasker, but it's a great utility.
ok so i dont have reboot as a task, it says action category at top and then i have things like alert, audio, app, display, dialog etc....please advise?
It sounds to me like the OP wants it to shut down for the evening (BB feature), not just reboot...

You can download the demo, just get the timing right so it does not play a registration notice. You may also need to change the spelling of words or add punctuation to get cadence and phonetics to your liking. You can also adjust speed in options if you use the downloaded demo.

I'm Looking for an app that you can set up a schedule to have your phone reboot at a specific time every day. I know about "Fast Reboot" and those type of apps, but I'm looking for something that fully reboots the phone, hardware and all. Anyone know of an app that does that?
I would think Tasker could probably do it.
I haven't used tasker before and I have read that it is complicated to use so I was hoping for something a little more simple. Plus, I don't really need tasker for anything else so that would be kind of an expensive rebooting app. But I bet your right and that it could do it and thank you for taking the time and giving me your suggestion.
Why woukd you need a reboot app? Just curous

Also charging is better with phone off on GB so having the ability to have the phone turn on at a set time would still allow use of an alarm...theoretically anyway. I've actually thought about this but haven't looked into it.

Theres no way to have the phone turn on by itself while it is not on...he probably means he just wants his phone to reboot itself like a half hour before he wakes up every morning so its fresh and ready to go, and he has all that nice reboot-RAM to play with.

Thanks, I will check that app out. And yes, you knew exactly what I meant. Thanks, I couldn't think of another way to explain it and you did perfectly.
Titanium Backup would be the easiest way to do it, but you have to back stuff up, which you're probably doing, anyway, right?
I would have paid at least $20 for it, and it's been worth much more to me than that.
You can use Script Manager to write a script that reboot
(Create a Script in your SD card, under the #!/system/bin/sh line just write the word reboot, it should look like this:
#!/system/bin/sh
reboot
)
Afterwards, long hold that script, and then change it so that it Run as root.
DO NOT check the Run at boot, or else it'll infinitely reboot.
then in Script Manager, go to Menu --> Advanced Options --> Scheduler
and then schedule the time you want it to reboot. Then press add script, add that script you just made.
Maybe there are fixes for my issues. As I am new to android I'm not sure how to get them corrected. Here's a list. Maybe someone can land a hand.
How to keep screen on while on a charger.
How to make the GPS turn on and off when app starts and finishes.
How to set so it can detect a known wifi source, then activate wifi.
How to get the long lasting battery results everyone seems to be getting.
How to set the email app to open to the emails versus the screen to select which account to view as I have multiple accounts set up.
How to keep the lockscreen front turning off 3 seconds after I hit the wake button but not swiping to unlock.
That's about it for now. I come from an iphone ecosystem and am used to a few features my JB iphone provides. I'm sure ill have more "how to" questions.

There's an amazing app called Tasker that will do a lot of your wish list. It's all about contexts - e.g. "on external power" "App {x} is in the foreground." It's the best ~$6 you'll ever spend, and never want to have another phone with out it. Almost all of it's awesome functions work without root, too.

As to you wanting the lockscreen to stay on longer, there are several lockscreen replacements you could use. I'm not sure which ones have the option besides widgetlocker though. With widgetlocker, you can set the lockscreen timeout to various durations. I know it worked on my infuse, not sure about the note though.
The downside is that it costs a couple bucks and it will drain your battery a bit if I remember correctly because it keeps the device in a wakelock and does not allow deep sleep. Its not a huge battery drain, but it does some. However, if the timeout is more important than a tiny amount of battery drain, I suggest doing that.

Coz one I was on YouTube in portrait mode for at least 1/2 hour... half of my screen got burnt with a blue shade. Thankfully it has gone now after a week (it ideally can't go... but I might have reversed burned it without knowing). Try your best not to burn it, it will look ugly and might need to be replaced.

Screen burn occurs when you take a photo of the sun at a specific angle. According to my knowledge. Correct me if I am wrong.
Couldn't you just use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nkahoang.screenstandby it puts the display off and keeps the phone on. Also i have done this loads of times and no sign of burn in. Oops sorry just read you're not rooted it may not work

Wifi Sleep
Go to the following:
"System Settings" -> "Wi-Fi" -> Menu (three dots or button etc) -> "advanced" -> "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and change to something like "Only when plugged in"
(if this option is available on your ROM)
Between two versions of Jellybomb and two versions of MiniN3 MaximuS, my screen will not timeout while connected to any charger. The screen will dim at the set timeout interval but will not turn off automatically. However, when I am not connected to a charger, the screen timeout works just fine. Did I miss something? Is this supposed to happen?

I'm wondering if it might be "daydream" related? I had a similar issue with a Docking setting in an earlier phone...
(edit: after further research, that doesn't seem likely...)
I guess my thinking here is that if it's followed you through updates and roms, it would either have to be something physically wrong (I don't think so), or a setting that Google has backed up for you and reloading when you log in.
I also have a couple apps that do that to me when they are running in the background. (Onkyo remote, as an example)
Sorry, No real help here.

To me it sounds like a setting in developer options. it keeps the phone awake and the screen on when charging. Uncheck stay awake. If it is not check then it is something else. In settings it is under the general tab. If you do not see developer options then go to about device and tap on the build number 7 times to get it to show up.

SOLVED!
Thanks chief! That's what it was. I've never changed that setting, but it was set to, stay awake...
