Screen won't timeout - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Between two versions of Jellybomb and two versions of MiniN3 MaximuS, my screen will not timeout while connected to any charger. The screen will dim at the set timeout interval but will not turn off automatically. However, when I am not connected to a charger, the screen timeout works just fine. Did I miss something? Is this supposed to happen?

I'm wondering if it might be "daydream" related? I had a similar issue with a Docking setting in an earlier phone...
(edit: after further research, that doesn't seem likely...)
I guess my thinking here is that if it's followed you through updates and roms, it would either have to be something physically wrong (I don't think so), or a setting that Google has backed up for you and reloading when you log in.
I also have a couple apps that do that to me when they are running in the background. (Onkyo remote, as an example)
Sorry, No real help here.

To me it sounds like a setting in developer options. it keeps the phone awake and the screen on when charging. Uncheck stay awake. If it is not check then it is something else. In settings it is under the general tab. If you do not see developer options then go to about device and tap on the build number 7 times to get it to show up.

Sounds like you are very new to Android, so you have normal questions. First thing it to figure out what the settings for your phone do. Theres always the Samsung forums for asking about your specific device also. I'm not sorry if that all sounds harsh. It was meant to. icrappers turning Android annoy me. There's an amazing app called Tasker that will do a lot of your wish list. It's all about contexts - e.g. "on external power" "App {x} is in the foreground." It's the best ~$6 you'll ever spend, and never want to have another phone with out it. Almost all of it's awesome functions work without root, too.

Thanks for the support. If I came from a walled garden, then why would I expect these functions that should be so easy to do. I have gone through the settings and came to the conclusion I needed help. Hence this post. If you can't help, I understand. Not everyone has that type of intelligence.

Juice defender is a placebo...
I bought it when I was on eclair... it made a difference there... though not much
However froyo up... android does a better job on its own...
Think about it... running a program that is on all the time to "save" battery?
Sent from my MB508 using Tapatalk
As to you wanting the lockscreen to stay on longer, there are several lockscreen replacements you could use. I'm not sure which ones have the option besides widgetlocker though. With widgetlocker, you can set the lockscreen timeout to various durations. I know it worked on my infuse, not sure about the note though.
The downside is that it costs a couple bucks and it will drain your battery a bit if I remember correctly because it keeps the device in a wakelock and does not allow deep sleep. Its not a huge battery drain, but it does some. However, if the timeout is more important than a tiny amount of battery drain, I suggest doing that.

I have noticed an improvement using JD and that's actual not placebo. I get your point though on an app that runs to save battery. But whatever its doing, its working better than whatever I'm doing without it.

[Q] Any way to toggle data access notifications off?

I just started seeing the new application permissions thing on my HTC Thunderbolt and thought it might be interesting to see when apps were accessing data. It was interesting... for the first dozen or so times. Now I'm getting toast notifications (especially from Locale) about it's various activities all the time, and I am no longer finding it remotely interesting.
Is there any way to get back to the settings and turn the toggle back off?
Please?
Anyone?
What ROM are you using, and how did you enable the option? Some screenshots of the notifications and settings would help as well.
Running eternity-tb-runnymede-r238 (Infectedrom), will try to screen cap the next time one of these prompts appears. The screen only seems to show up since Android Market "upgraded" to Google Play, and only when an app changes data permissions.
Took me a while to get back to this, but...
Here's a screen cap of the settings screen I'm talking about. Only seems to show up after initial install/update to privacy settings and I have no idea how to get back to it.
Um, apparently I haven't posted enough to post links, so make this into a URL --
i.imgur.com/Kn03q.png
I think you are referring to an app that is doing that. It's called P Droid i think. Maybe if you just cleared it's data you could reset it. Just a thought I'm not sure there may be an easier way.

Hmm.
No, don't think I have that installed, unless it's baked into the ROM.

How to Properly Use Google Sky-Map?

Hey all,
Does anyone know how to properly use the app Google Sky-Map with our device? I'm not really sure how to hold it correctly to where I'll get accurate results. How should I hold it in regards to the accelerometer? GPS Settings? Other recommendations?

When I used it I just turned it into landscape and use like that also the app should be set to automatic somewhere in settings. Just hold it up to the sky and what ever it shows is behind your device.

Hmm, alright-- what do you mean it should be set to "automatic"? And does it shake the screen constantly for you as well, as in it's not fluid whatsoever and jumps around?

I'm sorry to bump this post, but I recently downloaded Google Sky and initially had some finnicky problems with it, it kept bouncing with what direction I was looking at. Had to download "GPS Tools" app, reset the GPS and recalibrate the compass, and it seemed to work a bit better. Good luck!

Voice prompt when going to home screen edit

The only bug I seem to have found with my new Galaxy S3 might just be a setting I cant find. Basically when ever you use pinch to open the edit screen (where is shows how many screens you have and which is the home screen) the phone says it out loud. Even when I have the audio muted it still talks and tells me what screen I just clicked on.
Is there somewhere to turn this off? VERY annoying.
Have you installed lightflow on your phone ? It was causing my phone to do this as well until I uninstalled it
Yeah that was it. Hope they fix that.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
It's not directly related to using Lightflow, but rather to adding apps as accessibility services (which Light flowers unfortunately requires to work). That means it's an Android issue which will hopefully be fixed at some point.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Wow i just got this too - scared the hell out of me! Is this the ONLY quirk of Lightflow? If so, i can live with it i guess.
Ours the only annoying thing I've found so far. Happens as well if you turn accessibility on in tasker. So yeah, it's not as such lightflows fault. Only seems to affect me when opening and closing folders, and when going into hone screen edit, which I don't use anyway. I just avoid those things.
lightflow developer has raised the issue with google, and if you find where you can 'star' it which add you as sometime who wants it fixed. As yet google haven't fixed it.

Seems like a random bug: I use lightflow with accessibility setting turn on and never have this issue...

Limit Background Processes setting?

I was wondering if I modified the Limit background processes setting (which is found under "settings > developer options", would it help or hurt anything? I am not sure how the different options may effect the regular performance/battery of the phone. Any insight would be great, thanks!
I limit mine to 4 cause I don't like having so many apps open. It seems that after a while or reboot it goes back to the default though.

Yeah I do the same, but wondering if I I set it to 0 if that would cause any issues. I know when I clear RAM sometimes it would close up to 10+ or more and I'm confused as to why it had that many since I usually close everything and exit. Basically, I'm not sure what essential things may be running that this setting would effect?
No matter how many processes or apps you think you close by doing stock memory clean, they will come back shortly. The only way to make sure they stay innactive is to disabled them at start-up, just like in Windows or any Linux version. You choose which ones u want at start-up. I use Rom Toolbox by JRummy for that. You can easily control many things with that app. As for which ones are essential or not, it totally depends on what u do with the phone (ur personal use). Try and see what depends on what when u close things. That's the only way)) we all walk through that at some point!
