Because I must have missed the memo
I have searched for forums and do realize they are not real reboots because I had my navigation still on when graphical shell came back up
For more info

I think many of you are misinterpreting the "Random Reboots" you're experiencing. Unless the screen goes completely blank, then it is not a true reboot, if all it does is flash back to boot animation it is just the graphical shell crashing.

anyway, that said, has anyone figured out how to prevent the graphical shell from crashing?

WTF? I had DLNA frozen because I never used it, and I just went through all my frozen apps and completely uninstalled them if I decided I REALLY didn't want them (and if I decided that having them frozen for a while hasn't caused any problems). I uninstalled DLNA and now it's constantly force closing...how the heck is that happening??? I've had to pull my battery just now, and I'm rebooting. Why wouldn't it do this while it was frozen...isn't freezing basically like uninstalling?

Well upon reboot I haven't seen any more problems, and it's been a while. But yeah you're right, I'm sure I'll open up another app or some process later on will call on DLNA and it'll start force closing again...
Anyway, I guess my concern is why it even did that? Don't most of the ROMs and P-ROMs us Atrix users have used get rid of bloat, including the DLNA app? And why didn't it do anything while it was frozen?

Haha, that's a fair answer. I just need to learn to not screw with this stuff in my attempts to preserve space or battery or whatever. All the more reason to ditch this for CM7 when it's completed

Don't be too sure. Our guys have a lot cooking and I don't think everyone will jump ship to CM. I for one won't, at least not until I tried what our devs will cook. CM is great for outdated phones with lesser power.
We'll find out soon enough!
It seems to freeze up a lot. I will select apps and they do nothing, same with downloads from the market. They just hang at showing them as downloading.
I use SPB Shell and sometimes when it does this it will also stick between pages rather than just flinging to the next it will actually just stop in between pages until you continue to scroll though.
When I select links to open, it does nothing until I actually open the browser. I have only had the phone for a few days and it worked fine, now its doing all these weird things.
Anyone got any suggestions or ideas, let me know otherwise I'm afraid I may be taking it back...
Something may be wrong with the phone. I haven't experienced none of that. Even out the box. Actually its been so fast for me that if I experience the littlest bit of lag it drives me nuts. Might be hard ware related.

LOL dude you have the data guard enabled. There is a setting in their that holds downloads and other things in a queue until you are using WiFi in order to save battery. Just disable that and you'll be on your way And the SPB Mobile Shell problem is probably a problem with the app. Contact the developer and tell them about it. There aren't many nVidia Tegra 2 phones out there so it's not very likely they have done much testing on the architecture. Also, what kind of links are you talking about? Like a link you receive in a text message?
Hey buddy aren't you from Hero Land??

I used to have the same problem with apps not responding after pressing. I was using adw launcher I reverted back to stock and everything is good now. Emailed the developer about the compatability and waiting for an answer but the photon is good otherwise

Yeah it really sounds like you have Data Saver enabled which is located under Battery & data manager in the phone settings. If not you may want to exchange the phone as faulty. I have a lot of issues which my Photon: stuttering during music playback, random reboots (twice in 2 weeks so far), and feedback when using the audio out (buzzing / static). These seem to be common problems but the performance issues you are mentioning do not seem normal from what I have read in these forums.

You would be correct. Although i went from the Hero to an LG Optimus S, and now the Photon.
No problems like that with SPB Shell here. Check the data saver mode. You can also try changing the vm heap to 48 or 64. Mine is on 64 but never had an issue with the stock setting either.
Update...
It does appear that it was SPB Shell which sucks because I was really liking it. I will send a message to the dev and see what happens. The funny thing is that is was working great the first few days that I was using it and then started acting up which was why I didn't thing it was SPB

How do you get it that high? I am using VM Heap Tool and the highest it will let me check is 48.
It's not data saver. Or it shouldn't be. It's an Android flaw.
I've had an Incredible, Thunderbolt and then Photon. Which means I've used a few Android phones over a couple of networks (more if you consider the 4G's as their own networks).
99% of the time my phones work fine. Every so often it will stall downloading an app, or an email will just sit on sending for a longggg time. Unless I am recreating the same conditions over three phones and two networks I think this just happens every once and a while.

I'm glad you found the issue, this right here always tells me it was something you installed that caused the problem. When it worked fine out of the box and then....
Just watch what you install, install one app at a time and see how it flows for awhile after each app. Yes, it may take awhile to get all your apps on but you will know what apps are causing you issues! Like a previous poster said, there aren't many T2 phones, so just be careful what you install!
Glad you found the problem!

whenever i download something from the store or update an app but notification that the download has completed continues to reappear after being cleared. i can hit the x and clear everything or i can swipe off each notification - no matter what i do these notifications will continue to appear for days on end. the only way to get rid of these notifications is to clear app data. obviously, this isn't very convenient as i have to do it all the time if i want the notifications gone.
anyone else have similar problems or have any idea why this is occuring? i've owned a bunch of android devices and i've never seen this
not sure. Xing mines out always clear it.

yeah i'm completely stumped by this. also, if i download something from the notification bar i can't just click on that completed download and it will open. there is no way to open it unless i actually open the downloads app.
have you tried rebooting the device to see of it clears things up?

I would try a cold boot if a normal reboot doesn't work.
While prime is turned off, just hold volume down and the power button until white text appears. Then do nothing until it boots up. This will clear your cache and (hopefully) any problems.

Does the Android OS have any way to check the logs like something similar to event viewer in Windows? I ask because my S4 just rebooted on its own and I'm curious what caused it to do that. I had laid it on my desk for like 15 minutes and I happen to walk by and noticed it was booting up. The phone is rooted.
Thank you
Mike

ADB logcat or alogcat from play store. There are also some other methods. Google is your friend.
All,
I keep getting an error message when trying to share a contact or really change any permissions for my apps that says "turn off screen overlay in App>Settings"
There is no setting and if I go directly there from the prompt, and turn all of the apps, it still will not work. This has been happening for the past week and I can not figure this out........
I keep finding other people say to factory reset it. We had to factory reset my wifes device due to a seperate issue and it is happening to hers as well. Is this because of the most recent update or is there some way I can fix it.
Thanks,
Adari

Most likely it is Facebook Messenger that causes this. Force close it before changing permission and it should work. It's because the Chat Heads are displayed as an "overlay" over the entire screen regardless what you are doing. This somehow prevents some buttons to work specifically changing permissions and stuff.

Thanks for the help. I turned off all of the apps that had the drawing permission before. I turned them back on and left messenger off like you said. It worked great. I tried turning it back on and it started messing up again. Thanks for the solution!!
