DLNA constantly force closes - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

WTF? I had DLNA frozen because I never used it, and I just went through all my frozen apps and completely uninstalled them if I decided I REALLY didn't want them (and if I decided that having them frozen for a while hasn't caused any problems). I uninstalled DLNA and now it's constantly force closing...how the heck is that happening??? I've had to pull my battery just now, and I'm rebooting. Why wouldn't it do this while it was frozen...isn't freezing basically like uninstalling?

Never uninstall!! Check in one of Ken's roms if you can find the DLNA apn in the bloatware zip & install it again.

Well upon reboot I haven't seen any more problems, and it's been a while. But yeah you're right, I'm sure I'll open up another app or some process later on will call on DLNA and it'll start force closing again...
Anyway, I guess my concern is why it even did that? Don't most of the ROMs and P-ROMs us Atrix users have used get rid of bloat, including the DLNA app? And why didn't it do anything while it was frozen?

Haha, that's a fair answer. I just need to learn to not screw with this stuff in my attempts to preserve space or battery or whatever. All the more reason to ditch this for CM7 when it's completed

Don't be too sure. Our guys have a lot cooking and I don't think everyone will jump ship to CM. I for one won't, at least not until I tried what our devs will cook. CM is great for outdated phones with lesser power.
We'll find out soon enough!

How, using the freeze option in Ti Backup to freeze an app, save your battery?
Some apps don't stop running when you back out of them some system apps run all the time but are not needed freeze them and they won't eat your battery all day long .......longer battery life!
Sorry for the noob question but how do you figuer out which app is running all the time even when its not showing up in the default task manager. I would love to use this feature to get more juice out of my battery.
System panel is an app you can get and see what apps are running in the background and if there not crucial to the system freeze them I would ask someone before freezing anything though cause you could really screw up your phone and have to odin back to stock which isn't that bad just a pain in the ass

Not to get off topic, but does anyone have a list or recommend common apps to freeze? I see it mentioned a lot and everyone says ask someone before freezing, but I never see examples of what is safe and what is not.

Freeze drm and samsung apps and media hub and then I freeze whatever apps I don't use cause some apps have core functionally if you freeze them you'll get f/c but I'll try to make a list of things I freeze and post it later

I'm curious about this as well. Is there a good rule of thumb abou what things are not going to cause problems to freeze?
Now, I freeze the basic stuff, like Allshare, etc. because I don't use them, but I'd like to dig deeper into what services can actually be frozen as well.

asus didnt implement a combination of buttons?
Not that I'm aware of. Look at the bright side, now you have an excuse to root.

Thanks, what's adfree? the only other use i see for rooting is six axis, everything else seems phone worthy, my thunderbolt is rooting and tethering
edit: found adfree on market (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bigtincan.android.adfree&feature=search_result) - i am going to try on my phone first
I was also wondering if there was some sort of reset. Although, powering down and back up is fairly quick, so it's not that much of a problem for me.
Titanium backup and Chainfire is what I probably like best from rooting.

Backing up is a pretty damn good use Especially when an app update causes crashes, I can revert to a previous working backup.
Freezing apps is also awesome. I can disable bloat without having to physically delete apps, and I can re-enable them when I want to do OTA updates.
Those two things alone make the premium license worth the price.

i got a response on the transformer forums.
"Keep holding the power button (about 10-12 seconds) and the screen will go black, and then start back up. "
back to titanium, freezing apps essentially stops the apps from running in the background?

Thanks for that piece of info!
Yes, freezing apps stops them from running in the background 99% of the time. The 1% of the time they don't stop running is when another app that isn't frozen opens them.
Freezing an app basically makes the system think it's not there, even though they are not physically deleted. Then OTA updating is as simple as unfreezing the apps.

MeanBean 3.03 apps

i was just curious if someone can get me a list of apps that can be unistalled for faster performance on MeanBean without bricking anything. i dont use most the stock apps but am unsure of which ones i can do without ie...News and weather....email..... sprint music.... stuff like that im not sure if i can get rid of them without something else suffering. thank you in advance.

Try using an app freezer first then if there's no negative impact un install frozen app. Of course do a back up of each app incase there's a problem later. That way you don't have to reflash rom.
Titanium backup
System tuner
This is the most recent list for Sense I could locate for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197265
If you're flashing ROM's with some regularity, I do. And I don't feel like removing apps from the zip. Here is an app that makes it simple to do after the fact: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32849928
You could also set up ROM Cleaner to take care of it for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832162
Hope that helps
really just looking to get rid of the garbage, like news and weather i don't believe sense uses them besides the widget which i delete anyway.

Just get the NO-Sense_user.txt from here and use Notepad++ to customize it just remove the # from anything you want to remove
I could if you'd like but it would be better to edit one for yourself as I probably have A LOT of things deleted that you might want to keep and might have kept a lot of what you want deleted. It's really simple to edit as you are only putting in or taking out a # sign.

[Q] what to do????

Ok help!! I finally broke down and bought an unlocked zoom on the net. It is a great phone, we love it. I use ultrame for a carrier, now it comes down to this> The phone originally is ATT, I read all over here and am confused, if I root it is there a way to remove the ATT software?? will it really mess with the GPS?? will I loose other functions on the phone??? I am confused and yes I talk to myself at times. But I am getting fifty responses all different as to what to do, or just leave the phone alone? It works great, camera is beyond belief. any opinions?????????thanks red423

I understand your worries but as the above member said, you have nothing to worry about. I have the International unlocked version (Not AT&T's) and I rooted it with 'Kingo Root' 2 weeks ago and everything is fine.
So, by acquiring root, you can use Titanium Backup to disable/freeze or delete AT&T apks. Now I suggest you only freeze them first, reboot your phone, use it a bit, make sure there are no errors happening since some APKs are needed by the system for your phone to function or else it will crash and not boot-up properly. So freeze first, test your phone, if all is good, delete them. I personally only delete apks that I am sure I don't need or those that I can re-download from the Play Store if need be. The rest, I just freeze them and forget about them. They can't act on their own if they're frozen =).
Btw, you can still disable/freeze apps without root by going to System settings - More - Application manager, and swipe to "All" category, and find the ones you don't want, click on them, and then click on "Turn Off". (I still prefer Titanium Backup since it shows me all apks and freezes all of them)
got the root
Ok I got the root, so the titanium says no freeze without donating, there are a few ATT apps that show up, on the zoom which ones have you guys just removed forever???? or is there another program like titanium to remove att bloat ware???? AND A BIG THANK YOU FOR REPLYING!!!!!!!!! I am all rooted now and want to make sure if i erase apk's they are the correct ones I cant freeze. red423

Great! glad it worked out. I had an S4 prior to this and this Zoom is quicker and smoother I just miss the bigger screen + resolution and thinner body.
There's no kitkat update yet but apparently they announced it and should be out in the coming months hopefully!

How do I replace the stock file manager completely?

Hi there, I was wondering how to change the stock file manager. I don't mean just setting a different manager as default. Because even then, android uses the stock file manager for use within other apps (like wallpaper apps) for uploading files.
So how do I replace the file manager completely? I have the same question for the default gallery app too. It doesn't look the way I want and it's driving me nuts. I didn't simply uninstall the system apps because I fear it might break something.
The same question
Try disabling the stock one if it really bugs you.
Uploads can be a bit witchy...

You may be stuck with it. I've noticed similar issues on my 10+ running on Pie.
Pretty much ignored the slight inconvenience as I reckon it be more trouble than it's worth to fix.
May play will it a bit and try to optimize if I get really bored... more likely that I'll light up another cigar and chill though
You could try clearing the app data on the ones that default to the stock file Manager.
May have to go deeper into the system apks that manage file interlinks.
Clear system cache.
I can do all uploads but it's far from ideal... requiring 2 retries sometimes to get the right menu index. Sometimes it takes 2 light up attempts to get the cigar burning proper too
I should ignore it too cause I do not have enough technical knowledge

My stock 10+ does similar bs. You have more options than me if you're rooted. The trick is learning them; it can be a steep, time consuming learning curve.
The biggest reason I haven't rooted as well as voiding the extended warranty I have.
