[Q] USB Operation Failed - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, for some reason my A101IT just gave me this crap message when I connected the micro USB cable to my A101IT and to my laptop.
"USB operation failed
There is a problem using your device's memory for USB storage."
I really don't know why this happened but I was wondering if there are any solutions to this problem WITHOUT having to reinstall AND reformat everything on my A101IT? Also, has anyone else ran into this particular problem before and if so how was it fixed? Do I absolutely have to reformat and reinstall everything?
*P.S. - I have full and permanent root access via Chulri's Firmware 2.3.20.*

[Q] Archos 101 USB Mass Memory -> FAIL

I have latest firmware (version: 2.4.19) in my Archos 101 16GB tablet, rooted using churi method.
Previous firmware worked fine with USB sticks and hard drives, but this 2.4.19 just can't notice anything when USB stick or drive is connected.
Tested using root and normal -> nothing happens when stick/drive is plugged in
Tested connecting to my laptop, using micro-usb cable and that worked fine.
Conclusion: My bigger usb-connector is dead or current firmware has some bugs.
Anyone else have similar problems?
I had this problem too!

had ?
Did you get usb working again somehow?
I was wondering, that maybe full re-format, wiping everything and setting up whole system from scratch is again only solution to solve this.
You can see if it's a hardware or software problem, Go to the recovery, and somewhere in the recovery menu you have an option to mount usb storage, if it works it's software, if not, hardware

Found option 'Start USB msc' but this option is only for connecting Archos to PC.
Tested before (yesterday) connecting Archos to PC and that works fine.
I have problem with connecting Archos to usb mass memory.
You mean plug an USB key on your Archos?

I mean any USB memory stick or USB mass memory.
Connecting something to bigger USB connector has no effect what so ever to anything, when this was working.. got connected USB-icon to statusline notifications and USB memory appeared to filemanager, but no more.
Reformated, erased, reseted and made complete reinstall to my device, nothing helps and tomorrow my tablet goes back to reseller and they will send it to Archos.
You have the official Archos Android?

SGS II USB 'device malfunction'

Okay I have a serious problem with my SGS2... It simply refuses to be connected with the PC via a USB cable, not in Kies mode, nor in development mode... I need to fix this ASAP because there's files stored on the internal SD card that I need to access.
Basic Info that might help:
My phone is rooted, has ClockworkmodRecovery.
Running CheckROM RevoHD v4
Using Speedmod Kernel K18
I doubt however that it has anything to do with my ROM or Kernel or the fact that the phone is rooted, it's been working fine for ages and now all of the sudden it falls flat... When I plug in the phone, it starts charging and makes a sound, so it is connected. Then Windows gives me an error. I took a screenshot of it and attached it.
This is on Windows XP but the exact same message pops up in Windows 7 on two different PC's. I'm not sure I should take my phone in for repairs for two reasons:
My phone is rooted, and therefore the warranty is void...
But more importantly, they might wipe the internal SD card and there's very important files. I don't have access to a wifi network so I can't just transfer the files via Wifi. Emailing it to myself is my absolute last resort because the files are very big, it's gonna cost me a fortune. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated...
Samsung usb drivers is corect instal?
do you have kies installed?
Also, if you're desperate just download airDroid
Connect phone in USB mass storage mode to PC mainboard usb port only using Samsung cable only and wiggle the usb lead in the phones port see if it makes a connection as they can be a bit loose .

[Q] "USB Storage Damaged"

When I am trying to connect my usb flash stick to my tab using the original Samsung USB adapter I am getting this message: "USB Storage Damaged, you may have to reformat it" . So I reformatted my USB to FAT32 and I am still getting this message. It happens with 3 of 4 USB flash drives.. and some of them actualy worked before. I dont have any problems with those drives when I connect them to my PC.
P.S :
I am getting mouses to work so I dont think its a problem of the port.
Questions go in the Q&A section

[Q] Big problem, would appreciate some help.

I have the following problems:
1. I can`t copy files to both the internal and external sdcard through usb
I tried to uninstall Kies and all the drivers, rebooted and reconnected the phone and windows says usb drivers not installed: missing cdc serial number. Than i installed Samsung mobile USB driver 1.5.5.0 and still cannot transfer files to and from the phone.
2. If i transfer files with Airdroid i cannot flash tem, it says E: not accessible ( i formated the external sdcard twice both on the phone and on the pc). Flashing from the internal sdcard is also not possible.
I have no clue what happened and i hope someone can provide a usefull tip. I`am on stock rom right now ,not rooted and did a factory reset and still no transfer possible. Get the message: Device stopped answering or the connection is broken. Tried several usb ports, using a samsung usb cable.
-Edit- SOLVED

[Q] Usb connector

Hi
I have bought a usb connector to connect my flash drives with my phone. Every time i connect the connector i get the message USB connector connected but right after connecting the usb i get SD Card is Damaged. Try Reformatting it.
I used to have Omega rom and it was working fine for a couble of weeks but suddenly the message came up again so i flashed the official 4.3 android for S3. The problem still persists... FYI the phone is rooted and with stock rom and kernel.
Any help?
Thank you
I donĀ“t have the problem with USB flash disk. Format: Fat32
I have tried all kind of format disk but still the message Damaged SD Card shows up..
And did you try another USB OTG or another Flash disk?
Yes i tried 3 usb flash drives and also USB OTG Checker app that gave me positive results about the cable..
I think the problem is with your otg cable. Go to a accessories shop and check it there before you buy it. If it's not with the otg cable then may be it must be with the port

I even have two cables and none of them makes the difference
Thanks anw for your responses
Ok i finally figured it out. After a a lot of formatting of my usb drives on windows i tried to format those in my Puppy Linux OS with the same format as before (FAT 32). After that everything worked. Seems like linux can when Windows can't
Thanks for your help hope i helped other facing the same prob.
