I have searched and found answers to most of my questions, I have two questions that I am sure are answered here somewhere but I lack the search-fu skills to ferret out.
I see several people referring to doing a 'factory reset' after flashing 1.9, although I am having no issues except a few random lock-ups that required rebooting. I would like to know if doing the factory reset really resets the Streak to factory settings, or simply resets streakdroid?
I do have an issue with the market where it has no network connection until you press retry a few times. I see this is talked about in the streakdroid thread, but there does not seem to be an answers to it. I am on baseband 318 (originally had 347 but the instructions i followed for streakdroid said 318) My question is, can I update the baseband without hurting my current install and would this maybe alleviate my market connection issues?
Sorry that was so long winded and probably painful to read, I appreciate any replies.

I recently upgraded my 8525 to radio v1.38.00.10 from the factory installed 1.16. I am experiencing worse radio reception with 1.38. Anyone else?

I know, the search button seems tricky, but it does work.
You can also search individual threads and set the search to display posts as results instead of whole threads. Just play around with it for a while and help keeping/making this forum a better place.
Should you have already read the aforementioned thread, I apologise for my redundant post.

Oh, I am running this radio since it came along and have had no issues with it.

Thank you very much for your search tip! I have already read that thread and already searched the forum.
I'm getting much better reception with 1.38 than other Radio ROMs I've used. Just revert back to an older ROM if it's giving you that many problems...

I'm playing with the 2G vs. 3G thing. Cingular seems to disable this menu option vs. other carriers.

Good to see that you're not offended then.
All I can say is that I have not had any problems with this Radio and I have been heavily switching ROMs for some time running them for a couple of days each.
No Problems, Better Reception
I also upgraded from the same Radio ROM on my 8525 with no problems with the upgrade process, better reception and significantly better battery life.
First, to all that have created and contributed to this site, Thank you.
Now I know I'm new here and I'm probably going to get murdered for posting this but I'm completely out of ideas. I've tried searching everywhere and I can't find any answers. I tried flashing the Axura 2.1 and 2.2 roms and my GPS stopped working completley. I've tried using several different modems with the roms. I tried flashing the macnut roms and had the same result.
I've tried searching but there are so many gps problem thread that I can't find the answer(unless I'm skipping over it). So now I'm hoping that somebody will be able to help me out.
Sorry for my ignorance but I really am desperate cause I really wanna get this $500 phone working like one
this needs to be in Q&A, but; ODIN to JFD/JI6, then run the GPSRestore app from the market. If your phone's GPS still doesnt work, then it's the GPS hardware.
I've run GPS on all TW roms, and each one locks quick and accurate.
JL5 and JL5 GPS are spot on.

I don't think you're going to get murdered for posting a question. It just needs to be in the right forum. Next time please post questions in the Q&A forum to keep the Dev forum clutter free.
As far as your problem goes, when you say not working is your gps seeing satellites and just not locking or not seeing any at all.
Is your roof made of solid tinfoil???
Just kidding, but seriously, Odin back to JFD or some other 2.1 firmware and download GPS restore or something like that from the market and go stand OUTSIDE and test it.
If this fails, then you have faulty hardware. Send it to Samsung.

exactly. or your house or where ever you are is getting bad GPS signal. my gps worked flawlessly for a while now. it's just with newer modems, they lock faster.
I had similar issues to what you describe. My GPS would not work with any ROM combination. Sometimes I could see satellites but I would never get a lock. Tried anything with no luck. Finally- I did three things, and I can't tell you for certain which fixed it- but at the end it was fine.
First thing was I followed the hardware fix guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970 and then I installed a JL4 ROM (I hear JL5 works great too), left settings as stock and made sure Server FQDN Type was set to Auto config instead of www.spirent-lcs.com. Then I went outside and waited like 10 minutes in LbsTestMode "Get Position Test". Now my GPS works!
I haven't had a real problem with the GPS ever since JI2, and the GPS performance in the Froyo-based ROMs is even better. If it's not working for you at all, then you need to exchange your phone for a new one. You should be able to arrange that with T-Mobile at not extra cost to you.
If you bought your phone through T-Mobile you need to contact them. Jump through their hoops and get a replacement ordered.
Sorry for not putting this in the right forums. If a mod has to move it....
This is exactly whats happening. Whether I'm outside or not, the little gps icon blinks but it says my location is temporarily unavailable. I don't think its hardware cause this is a brand new phone that was working yesterday before I installed the ROM. Thanks for the suggestions. Some more are welcomed
no rom or modem fixed my gps completely till i was on eugene's ginger clone r2 and flashed the JL5 Modem WITHOUT doing the Samsung GPS restore from the market. In fifteen seconds i was locked with less than 10m.

This is a brand new phone. Its my 3rd one in lest than a week. This GPS was working to some extent right before I installed the Axura rom. I just did a the GPS restore and now it still won't lock onto my position but it will do the navigation(poorly just like before) to a spoken destination with voice guidance. If I ask it for a map of something it will bring those destinations up also. I'm at a complete loss but I do like this ROM better than Eclair.
samsung restore isn't in the market anymore.
Can someone upload the .apk please ?
Thanks
G
So I just read a thread asking users that are running the new MR2 if they are still seeing reboot issues. It appears that many people that had reboots before running MR2 are still having reboot issues AFTER MR2. The ONLY people that aren't seeing reboot issues are ones that didn't seem to have the problem before... This leads me to believe that this still could be some sort of hardware issue.
My question is.... Is there anybody that was able to eliminate reboots with a new phone? If new hardware fixes the issue I am ready to go down that route because there sure doesn't seem to be a guaranteed software fix out yet.
Comments anyone??
From what I've been reading, some of the reboot issues may be with the way people have their systems configured for under/over volting and clock speed.
Since every phone is a bit different, so some can handle more extreme setting than others can.
Might be something else causing your issues, but a lot seems to point to the settings.
Hi guys, I have a rooted Bolt currently running 1.70.605.0. I rooted when i got it back in May and since then I installed a rooted update of Froyo. The phone has been dropping network connection a lot lately that it's very aggrevating. I am thinking it may help fix my problem if I update to Gingerbread with the new radio.
i downloaded the file 2.11.605.3.zip from the TeamBamF.net site last night but now I am sort stuck. It's been so long since I rooted this phone so I kinda need some help. I search everywhere but haven't found a thread where there is like a step by step direction. If someone can provide me some assistance or point me to the right thread I would so much appreciate it.
Vince
The data dropping out may be due to some work/upgrades in your area ... call VZW to see if they know anything.
As far as updating to GB, my advice is tread lightly ... especially if you're just wanting a stock version of it. There are bugs, the biggest being voice mail notifications not working, that may drive you nuts. That being said, there are several custom ROMs around that have fixes/tweaks that make this plagued GB build VZW & HTC released much more manageable. Look around and there are a few "stock" custom ROMs out there - or if you prefer a totally different look/feel there are several Sense 3.0 ports to choose from too.
As far as a how-to guide, the best one I've seen is THIS ONE. Read it and get knowledge my friend
Happy flashing!
2.11.605.3.zip is the [gb] patch - "It changes camera libs, and some insignificant
framework, and apks." as stated on teambamf.net, i did read it is running smooth,
increased battery life but, with issues pertaining to vm notification error and front facing camera
upside down. i agree with Yank talk with carrier, im currently running dasBAMF Forever
kernel 2.6.35.10 stock radios have had no issues.

Can you link me to that download? I would like to see exactly what you are making reference to before I comment.
Some of those update .zips are the full unrooted rom. You wouldn't want to flash that. You want to make sure and look for something like...
"Rooted Debloat Blah Blah Blah"
The link provided by Yank is a good one. #3 for "Flashing a Rom".
Also another hint (just in case you are unfamiliar with recovery). the camera buttons toggle up/down and the power button is used to make a selection. you can select "go back" by toggling to it and selecting it or you can use the soft back key.
hope that helps.
As to the voicemail issue, Eris has fixed that. Took him 30 minutes, he said.

I would have posted this in CDMA dev, but I don't have enough posts yet. First, ROMS like dastin's CM11 ROM usually list "Standard CM11 Issues" under issues. However, I've never been able to find a comprehensive list of "standard" issues for CM release since CM only has wiki entries for supported phones (which does not include CDMA 3D/V 4G). I'm running Angrybean CM10.1/AOSP/AOKP, and only vaguely knew "standard" CM10.1 issue for this phone usually meant no MMS. I only discovered that issue by happening upon a thread post skimming through a lot of threads. So, is there a place where "standard" issues gets documented, or is this one of those "if you read a lot of posts in this forum, you'll understand what 'standard' is"?
Also, ever since Gmaps 7 came out, I've had flickering/glitching/screen tearing issues that some people seem to have. I've tried a lot of the recommended fixes, which usually include disabling HW overlays, forcing GPU rendering, reinstalling, or downgrading to Gmaps 6 (not a solution in my eyes). Just wondering if anyone has found a definitive answer as to why this happens, and what the solution is, because I see the same issue has popped up in dastin's CM11 ROM. I'd love to flash CM11, but the flickering is driving me crazy.
Thanks for any info or help you can give me.
