This is why I am hesitent to aaccept the ota 2.2.2 . My streak is functioning great at 2.1. What are the need that would mke 2.2.2 better to have if it "may"have bugs like low volume, etc?

Origins of O2 2.1 update??

I dont know if this is of any relevance to anyone but I just thought I'd post something I've noticed on the 2.1 update from O2.
Facebook now tells me i can download a version for my DESIRE, rather than my Streak (which it did on 1.6)
Have O2 modified a Desire ROM to get 2.1 out there? Might explain the volume and accelerometer issues? Or then again i could be completely wrong!
Right now i just hope bluetooth call quality is fixed......

i noticed it too, might explain why i'm having internet issues with my phone.
Hmm.what internet issues are you having?
Mine seems OK, although I prefer the old browser for functionality. Also not impressed with the email client - can't handle wifi connection for sending mail whereas the old one worked fine (or swapped to mobile automatically? either way it worked with wifi on)
on the plus side - bluetooth phone calls through my car's head unit seem fixed now, compared to the stuttery rubbish I had on 1.6. Volume is lower though (or was that the problem in the first place? )
I'd be really happy with this 2.1 BUT for the volume control issue and the "reversed" accelerometer (oh and the new home screens are pants compared to the old ones). It's certainly more stable than 1.6, mind.
The streak REALLY does need a good 2.2 build though - Flash capability is essential for a device like this: O2 and Dell pay attention cos this device is only a shade off being the most awesome thing out there!! (IMO of course!)
If Dell wouldn't violate GPL and released sources for Streak kernel, I'm more than sure that we would have a working CyanogenMod-6 for Streak by now.

hey, the internet issues i'm talking about is that prior to updating to the official 2.1 02 update everything was groovy, now when i try to connect to the internet from my provider it sends me to wipcore.t-mobile.com to sign up for a data plan. i have the android plan which worked flawlessly before. really is a big let down.
that seems a bit weird - even on wifi? I'm on an O2 £35 a month package with the data bolt on. Didn't have to do anything after the update apart from reset the email provider details.
The only data issue i've had so far is being unable to send emails whilst connected to wifi (will another email client fix this?)
@smokku: what does cyanogen-6 do? Fairly new to Android after many years of Windows Mobile use.....

In short: It is most known custom build of Android OS. Version 6 is based on Froyo (2.2).
thanks!
and yeah you're right, it's a shame we can't get that onto the streak!

[Q] Headphone question for anyone running froyo

The Aria under 2.1 does not support iPhone-compatible headsets that have a in-line volume control. I have no idea why, but there seems to be general agreement that this is the case-- the headphones work but the Mic and controls do not.
However, it looks like the Incredible under 2.1 didn't support it either, but under 2.2, it now seems to work for Mic, center button (play/pause), and headphones.
Does anyone who upgraded to Froyo on the aria have a pair of iphone headphones (or iphone compatible with a volume control) that they could test to see if they work? I don't want to root and upgrade my aria if it doesn't work under 2.2 either (i'll just sell it factory instead).
Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
well i have my aria on cyan 2.2 froyo with iphone heaphones, and my problem with them is i have to answer the phone itself when i get a call instead of just pressing button on headphones but from there on its good, i can talk through the headphones but again have to end call from phone to hang up which sucks when your driving :/
Im guessing youre referring to the stock version of 2.2 (HTC Sense) That's really interesting what you've mentioned about the incredible. I started a thread under the accessories section trying to address this as well. Most iphone/ipod headsets seem not to play well with android when it comes to the controls and mic. Anyone running the Gratia rom or the liberated 2.2 rom please weigh in.
Thanks both of you for the input. Based on this I think ill take my chances upgrading to Liberated 2.2, and i'll report back (probably won't be till early next week).
Just wanted to let everyone know that I updated to Liberated Froyo, but ye olde microphone still does not work, either with the stock iPhone 3GS headset or with a Klipsch headset designed for iPhone.
Very disappointing, but hopefully I can at least save someone else the effort. This sucker is getting fleabayed; maybe i'll try a samsung next.
iphone FTL
I agree as far as the lock-down philosophy goes, but given that iphone-designed TRRS headsets are very nice and prolific, it would be nice to see android fully support them.

[Q] Lower signal strength on 345?

I've recently upgraded from the stock O2 319 rom to 345, and am finding that my reception seems to be way worse than before; almost as if the phone is just applying less power to the radio.
At first I'd assumed that the signal strength bar was just calibrated differnetly at 345 (it seems to like dropping down to no bars, and yet still be able to send txts!), but I've also noticed that on my daily route to work I now get far more dead zones; i.e. areas where it drops off the network entirely.
Has anyone else noticed this, and/or is there any way I can boost the radio?
It's bad enough that right now I'm contemplating downgrading back to 319 (or 318) so that I get things like the original baseband back and then maybe switching over to DJSteve's rom.
Any thoughts more than welcome!
using 340 and its as bad as you make 345 sound, so if your changing, definitely steer clear of that one. If i change out will post what i find that might work better for us.
Thanks for the heads-up! .. good to know I'm not the only person having this problem too
So got my original unlocked streak back up after changing the LCD out after dropping it...this one came with 2.2, baseband 315, build 12332. This phone will pull signal at home whilst the previous one I mentioned wouldn't do a thing her at home where signal is belch at best. Haven't upgraded to 2.2.2 yet, just got the OTA notification after firing the phone up today....hesitant to update in case I loose signal again, if you venture to the 2.2.2 let me know if your signal increases. Good luck!

[Q] Speakerphone is super quiet?

In addition to the volume bugs with the ringtone, im noticing that when im on speakerphone it's super quiet. anyone else noticing this? Im on 12070
same
i have this problem too. hands free is imposible like this !!
I have seen this with 12072 as well, instead of flashing back to 12070, I am just going to wait for tango!

Volume too low(audio out)

Hello,
I use the streak as a nav/media device in the car.
I currently use a ROM called simple streak.
Some of you may already be familiar with the audio out low volume problem.
I read on some forums that with the version 1.6 everything was normal
With the upgrade to 2.2 came that problem that the audio out being too low.
I am not talking about the built in speaker that the streak has... That is loud enough.
My streak is connected to the car stereo and as for a comparison with i9100,
Streak needs the stereo volume cranked up to 20-30 but the i9100 gives the same sound at around 10-15. My question;
Do any of you experience this problem?
How did you fix it?
Is there any specific ROM out there which addresses this issue(say longhorn)
I will switch to the longhorn in no time if someone acknowledges this problem and confirms that it is fixed with this rom.
Thank you very much.
