[q] possible answer to froyo ota update failures? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I posted this in another thread but thought it was worthy of starting a new thread to get as much feedback as possible. See below:
I too am getting the dreaded IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED error when installing the Froyo OTA update that was officially released by Verizon on 4/20 so I called Verizon (I actually called twice to see if I would get the same answer, which I did). What I was told is that when an OTA update is released it's released in phases. If you are not included in the group of phones that the OTA was officially released to then you will not be able to install the OTA update.
So, the question I have for everyone on this thread is did you receive an auto notification on your phone when you turned it on or did you go into settings and do a manual system update check? If everyone that is getting the IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED message after downloading the OTA did a manual check then that might in fact be the answer to this issue. If the IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED is coming up even for people who got an automatic notification of the OTA update to Froyo then once again Verizon has no clue!
Loved to get a show of hands on this.
Thanks!

Any news on official OTA Update?

Very tempted to go for the EN.EU update mentioned in the EternityProject thread over in the developers section (i.e. the "leaked version"?), but was also wondering if anyone knows when this update will be made available "officially"? There's quite a bit of talk about a "december" release on other forums, but those are all US Droid Razr forums with very little mention of this current en.eu update. Any ideas?
I wouldn't update... breaks root and, like the Bionic, there night not be a way back onto the official upgrade path.
fair enough.. but no news on the official update from anyone then?
*tumbleweed*
Impossible to find any info on when/if this is ever coming officially from Moto. By the sounds of it, those that have tried the update from the dev thread don't seem to be having any problems (except for loss of root I believe).. but it'd be nice to have some more info if there's any info to be had?
Or should I just bite the bullet (root not important to me - yet) ? Kholk, any thoughts? Will I be able to update to any other "official" updates from moto after upgrading to this one?

[Q] ICS leak to Official??

Hi, ya'll!
I posted this question yesterday, nobody responded.
I'm running the .33 EU leak and I got a notification that an official update will be coming within a week.
So when they finally push the OTA can I update directly from the leak or do I have to flash it?
what do I have to do to go back official??

If nobody replies: wait and DON'T create another thread asking the same question. This just clutters the forums and makes it hard to have some overview about what's happening.
To your question: Again, wait. You are not the only one not having that official ICS update yet. When it gets pushed out to everybody, be sure that someone on here will make a guide for us 33 leak users.
If you already got that message, I'd even say that you can update the standard OTA way, but that's just a wild guess.
Thank you!
I looked around the forum and they said that the .33 eu is the final OTA build weird because I recieved that update notification.

[Q] ATT FOTA last night? Anybody else try and succeed?

>>I'm just curious if anybody else has received notification of a new update from AT&T recently, and if so, what was it?
I've had my E970 for about a month now. When I first received the LGOG, I did receive a FOTA notification and did the update. Then
I rooted, unlocked BL and installed TheBase.
Last night, I received another notification regarding an OTA software update being ready to install. Since I was actually ok with the stock LG ROM, I made a backup and then went ahead and let the update install.
Most of you won't be surprised to hear that the device rebooted into recovery, I received an error message, and the update failed.
Luckily, I didn't brick anything. I like all the information we get before allowing an app to install, and I can't believe there is no info given about what an update to our OS might contain. A version number [4.0.4 or 4.1.2?] and a short description saying bugfix / security fix / new features would go a long way here.
Personally, I kinda like the LG touches to Android and am looking forward to the official JB update.
I plan on sticking with stock-based ROMS on this device until it's no longer supported and then going back to CM.
I'm running Android 4.0.4
Baseband: APQ8064 / MDM9x15M
Kernel: 3.0.21
The Base 0.6.5
E97010l
I just checked for an update and...
now it says it is up to date?
I wish I had more information, and I DID search the forums and elsewhere to try and answer this myself first.
Now I'm thinking that AT&T is just trying to update me to their latest software and away from a custom ROM.
Incidentally, the OG is the first Android that I've actually done a FOTA on. I received the Atrix 4G and the X10a long after their release, and went immediately to custom ROMs.
It's just updates to E97010c. Nothing worth updating for.

Take OTA from ViperROM and retain soff/root

I'm currently s-off/rooted running ViperROM. I received the notification that the OTA is ready for download already but haven't taken it. Joelz said that he suggests updating the firmware for when he drops his 4.4 sense 5.5 ROM. I want to update to 4.2.2/sense5 via the OTA to be up to date on "stock", but as i've never taken an ota while on a rom i'm a bit nervous. does anyone mind giving me a hand in taking the update then regaining root/s-off?

Verizon v10 marshmallow

Is starting to roll out tomorrow allegedly
Verizon updates LG V10 support page with Marshmallow details, rollout should begin shortly
http://phandroid.com/2016/03/23/lg-v10-android-60-marshmallow-release-date/
Congrats to Verizon. First out of the shoot. Come on T-Mobile, don't be last...
My Verizon V10 just started to try and download a software update. 988.1 MB. I'm assuming this is the marshmallow update.
I'm not near WiFi right now so it's not downloading but trying to. Waiting to see how this affects root. OTA usually breaks root.
Edit: Just checked software update tab and can confirm this is marshmallow 6.0 update. I clicked no thanks and it canceled download. I'm sure it will be bugging me again soon.
