I have a unlocked dell stock froyo 347 version. I was messing with streakdroid recovery image files (recovery.img), then finally upgraded to 351 image (Streak_351_15609_00.pkg) and 351 recovery image (recovery.img).
Once the update was finish, it started reboot but was stuck at dell logo forever even after replacing the battery.
I used fastboot streakdroid recovery image (recovery.img), and it somehow starts to boot up okay with the new stage ui of 351 version. I replaced my home with LaucherPro since I hate dellStage.
To root the 351, I installed streakdroid recovery (recovery.img) again with fastboot, then from recovery environment (camera + poweron), installed Superuser.zip and finally got everything working and rooted. I used Root File Browser Aplha (free root explorer) to delete some useless softwares in /system/apps directory (amazon mp3, copilot, zinio reader). I'm seeing baseband gausb1a1347100-us, oem version gausb1a135100, build 15609. Is this how it's suppose to be?
So is this okay? What does baseband and oem version, and build number really mean? I imagine that it is better to have higher build number, but what does baseband and oem version mean?

After update and rooting and deleting (4/26/2011):
Higher numbers always does not mean u have the best
If u have no issues keep the 347 basband... Probably it might be better than 351
I have the same baseband and been through exactly the same scenarios. I am now on 351 after all.
To get out the stuck Dell logo, I simply replace the battery, and turn Streak back on. The screen will show "Start emergency recovery" (don't remember the exact wording), and it will reboot again. While it's rebooting, press "vol up, down, power" at the same time. Enter the recover mode and choose "Restore Factory Default". After that, my streak starts normally.
I wonder if baseband 347 has anything to do with this "Stuck Dell Logo" issue.
I had a stuck blank screen issue but both my baseband and rom are 351.
So do all of you guys have Baseband 351, OEM 351, and Build 15609 on your streak?

baseband 347. oem 351, build 15609

To get baseband 351 I had to flash back to baseband 319 first and then flash baseband 351. I could not get 351 to stick without doing this first.

I reverted to 347, so now everything except the recovery environment is same as original. Recovery environment is still the one from 351. I used fastboot to write system.img and boot.img from my backup that I have created. I thought it wasn't a complete backup since nandroid was stuck at backing up firstboot, but I guess those two are the only files needed for a good recovery.
I think the stock 347 is much smoother and works better for me. There's no annoying ooVoo, and no constant sync icon. 351 had too much crap on it that was hard to remove. I felt the apps were crashing more often in 351.

OOVOO is easily removable after rooting. I too think 347 was better. Gonna flash back to it and hopefully that bricks the phone and dell sends me one that is actually new.

I had it removed, but the service was coming back on again like a zombie. Besides, something still didn't felt right, so I went back to 347.
I didn't know bricked phone is covered under warranty. So if you act dumb, they just replace it? No charges later on? If true, that's a relief on these dangerous experiments with fastboot and system image files.
I went back to 347 from 351 by using fastboot tool with boot.img and system.img. I know someone had these posted somewhere, and they matched the exact same hash code as mine.
I tried reinstalling streakmod 0.3.2.6 and did a nandroid backup again. It's stuck at backing up firstboot, which I don't know what it is. But the rest of the files seems to be working fine.
That's cause streakmod doesn't work with 351. It mentions this in the streakmod thread. One guy said it worked but he was the only one to have it work as far as I can tell. Maybe he took different steps to get it to work.

If its bricked, they cant check to whats wrong, they would be in the same boat as u so...
they dont have anything special that we dont have so if we cant get it back on, neither can they
brick + warranty = good
brick - warranty = bad
Please Help Me...I am fighting with my streak...I just bought it originally 347 and tried to upgrade to 351...now I am stuck on dell logo...tried everything..tried to upgrade to 345, 351 and it flashes fine but when it tries to reboot it is stuck on Dell logo....
The easy way is to flash streakdroid 1.9.0.

Try installing the recovery image from 351.
Download 351 recovery.img from here and flash the recovery partition: (I downloaded the recovery img file and renamed it to recovery351.img)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak
c:\dell_tools> fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery351.img
If that doesn't work, download the recovery image from streakmod 0.3.2.6.beta, and flash your recovery partition. (I downloaded the recovery img file and renamed it to recovery0326.img)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326
c:\dell_tools> fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery0326.img
The streakmod's recovery image 0326beta should make your streak work, but if you had to overwrite the recovery partition with the streakmod recovery image, then you might have the same problem that I had with my initial device - baseband being stuck at 347, software being updated to 351. If this is the case, you'll need a replacement from dell and hope they send you a one that is manufactured sometime late last year (2010). The latest ones that dell sold which comes with 347 is different from the other streaks. That's what's making it hard to flash to other versions using update.zip.
So, it's not you that suck, it's your streak that sucks and causing all these trouble. I'm sure you followed the correct guides updating to 351.
If you want to keep that device, what you should do is just get the 347 version of system.img back on by flashing the system partition using fastboot. I tried 351 with 347 baseband, it didn't work well for me. I ended up returning the new one, and keep the replacement (2010/12 manufacture date). Now it's so easy to jump to another rom version.
Thank You so much, it helped now I am on 351 Baseband and 351 OEM, but now the problem is 3 home lights blink after few seconds..How to fix that..Help needed please.

Here.

Wow guys. Great stuff.
Just got it working on my stock Sim-free (unlocked) Dell Streak bought from Dell
I had the same issue last night so was thinking of waiting for the official release.
I am not sure why are people going back to 1.6. Even this is Beta, it is way better than the original one.
It's snappy and everything works. I actually liked the new keyboard. Also, Swype starts working with no force closing.
I didn't have any issue with Market.
Anyways, for those who couldn't get this running on 00 model, I had to flash it to 21.
The only drawback is it now shows O2 logo (which is removable). Its still unlocked as I am using it on 3 Australia.
Apart from what everyone has quoted here on getting this running, I had to:
1. Flash the Koush's custom Recovery (Thread, Directlink)
2. Install the Modaco ROM using Recovery. You need to select Update.pkg which will start the custom recovery. In custom recovery screen, choose option to apply rom update.zip - I think 2nd option from the menu. (this changes the Model to 21) (Thread, Directlink)
3. Flash stock Recovery (Thread, Directlink)
Just place the .img file from here into the same folder as in step 1 and rename it to the .img file name there. Follow the same steps on how to install Recovery using fastboot.
4. Place 2.1 package from this thread and rename it to Update.pkg in root of SD
5. Install the 2.1 beta from Recovery (i.e. PowerOff, PowerON + VolUp + VolDown)
The first time it started, I logged into Google account via 3G rather than Wifi (it might have worked otherwise, I guess)
Everything worked. I didn't have much to back up except apps which I did through Astro File Manager (Free).
Multi-touch works on the games I tested so far. The system looks more stable. I also did a few test calls. I was running System Lite to view the apps/processes running in the background. I experienced better task management, may be thanks to Eclair.
I can find two minor bugs so far:
* Although I couldn't reproduce it after booting the device, my screen orientation stopped changing automatically (May be caused by some app)
* You can't drag apps from the drop-down application list to the Home screen. (Work around is to add it directly from the Home using Short-cuts > Applications)
EDIT: Just updated some links for people who don't know their way arounds.
Please let me know if you need more help, with step by step guidance. I personally thinks it's not needed as everything is in these threads.

Thank you sir, glad to be here. Please take a look at MSigler's post because that's exactly how i did it. But here is a step by step guide with links.
1. Install Koush's Custom Recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754563
2. Flash Modaco Custom ROM
http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/312386/30-jun-r1-4399-modaco-custom-rom-for-the-dell-streak-with-online-kitchen/
3. Download 2.1 Update
http://www.mediafire.com/?bb9cvm5uaap2z8k
Save it to the root of your memory card and rename it to Update.pkg
4. Flash Stock Recovery
http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/314313/how-to-get-your-streak-back-to-factory-condition/
Just follow steps 1,3,4,5,6,7 (download the stock recovery, ignore the stock ROM)
5. Optional Root
http://www.mediafire.com/?o583zkt5hvhu5ma
Save anywhere on your memory card, use a file manager to install it. Run, then you have instant root with unroot option.
When it reboots you should have 2.1 with no market issues.
this seems like too many steps. I had success just by using stock everything (recovery and rom) and then flashing 2.1 using the stock method. Root works too!
With a non o2 UK device?
This is for people who need o2 ROM first. And you can only get it f.e. with an unlocked Dell that way.
Regular method didn't work with mine since i had a 00 unit. Had to find someway to update to a newer build.

Me, too. Have a 31 UK unlocked device.
But with the above method I got stuck at the dell logo. So I posted my method at the Modaco forum (after step 3, flash original 21 Dell o2 ROM, then 2.1 ROM)...
Greenarcher... THAT ROCKS. Excellent directions...not a single problem encountered.
Thank G O D!!
Any chance you'd have a suggestion on how I can remove the O2 boot screen?
2.1 is great... cant wait for 2.2 on the Streak.
I just wanted to give a public THANK YOU!
I have a 00 beta US Streak and the Modaco and StreakSmart methods I'd tried to get 2.1 resulted in a "e: no signature / verification failed" error. I followed your method here exactly, and now I have 2.1 working on my US beta (not ATT) Streak!!
Thanks so much man!
Hello,
I'm new to the fourms.
I have the Euro Unlocked Dell streak Model number ending in 00. ( Im in the US using the device on AT&T)
I'm trying to do this update.
Ive installed the Custom recovery software or so I think I did.
Followed the instructions, it says Fastboot Download done on the streak after I run the program to flash to a custom recovery software. ( just sticks on this screen) so I removed the battery.
and then copied the files for the custom rom to the SD and renamed the zip file Update.zip ( exactly as shown)
Boot the phone into recovery and choose the 2nd option ( the Update option) hit the camera button then I just get a blank screen....
I listed exactly what I have done. Is there anything that I'm missing or not doing exactly right ??
Thanks!
I've done it a little different on my German 00 device. I installed the stock recovery and simply applyed the update normaly.
Stock recovery: See Thread "How to get your Streak back to factory condition" (Option 1)
instead of using the stock Official Dell ROM I took the 2.1 ROM
First I had a few Problems with the Icons on the Home-Screen, wiped the device again, works nice
Ok Guys wish of the ways is the best and faster
@cue_32 - No problem, happy to help out. I'm still looking for that elusive stock boot logo as well.
@Bizzach - I'm glad everything worked out for you.
@shadowfactor - Try using the old custom recovery, the newest build causes that black screen error for some odd reason. Hope that helps, if not let me know.
brilliant! The older custom recovery software worked!
Question tho. How do I get rid of the 02 splash screen ?
Running 2.1. will post if I have any issues
Thanks alot!
Download one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696193
Rename the file to bootanimation.zip place in system/media (you will need to use root explorer and make sure the permissions are set to read and write. Works and looks great.

Thanks.

I personally use Titanium Backup for stuff like that, or sync all contacts with your google account for easy recovery. I haven't tried the Dell Sync Client.

First of all, I am on a MAC and have an 00 baseband Streak and updated it to a 21 baseband and 2.1 Eclair following the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754418
Everything worked fine up until the end where after the final reboot it got stuck on the Dell logo. Ok, no problem I used the instructions in "How to unbrick your streak *worked for me*":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754448
As instructed I substituted the 2.1 Eclair pkg for the stock and it flashed perfectly, no issues and booted into 2.1. At this point everything pretty much worked fine.
... UNTIL I decided to try an root it to get rid of the O2 Splash Screen. Universal Androot did not work for me previously so I went with the NExus One Superboot method which worked in the past. That's where it all went to hell and the Dell boot logo came up and the unit just sat there.
I have tried re-doing it, from all the steps listed, but either get a black screen in the recovery phase (after choosing update for sdcard/update.zip) or the Dell logo on boot. I have also tried AdamG's 'rooted eclair build [6841]' img but it also just comes back with the Dell logo (listed below).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753699
... NOW, the only thing that seems to work is clockworkrecovery using AdamG's updated 2.5.0.1 Dell Streak (original or alt img) (listed below) and the 4399-update-streak-stock-rooted-signed.zip file renamed to update.zip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754563
Every time I put an Update.pkg file on my sdcard and try to update using recovery it gives me a black screen in the recovery process. Renaming it to update.zip just gives me an error when I try to update in recovery mode. I just cannot seem to find a stock recovery ROM that will update using a .pkg file (either stock or 2.1) without giving me a black screen.
Any help/ideas/prayers would be greatly appreciated as I'd hate to think that I now have an $800 paper weight.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Why can't you just fastboot flash the stock recovery and boot images?
i can flash the stock recovery but cant find 1.6 stock .img files. Ive tried with my nandroid images from 1.6 and they dont work, just sits at dell screen. If i flash the stock 2.1 it loads but no radio so useless.

now i'm no noob, i've odined plenty of times. but ever since i flashed eugenes 2.2.1 the first update, my phone has went crazy. i had to flash back to bionix and it worked but everytime my phone rebooted or i turned it off then on i wouldn't get service because flight mode was always active for some reason, but bionix was the only one after i unchecked it i would get service, because i flashed tons of 2.2.1 roms and other 2.2 roms and flight mode would always be checked after boot. even though bionix still worked it was acting funky sometimes so i just odined and i used the true firmware 2.1 from eugene instead of froyo but i doubt thats the deal, now after a successful odin , it passed, it keeps coming on and i flight mode is still checked but after the second media sd card scan it boot loops, everytime... the phone won't stay on past the sd card scans.. wtffffffff help pretty please
which recovery do you have? root it, get clockwork, format system, data, cache, reflash to jfd, mini kies to kb5. I just did this from a borked voodoo recovery.
Lol its been rooted. Im not a noob man. I just odined eugenes 2.2 official jk2 stock. Now phone boots and works fine. But when I reboot flight mode is always on... and some apps keep fcing over unistalled and re installed bunch of times same result. I did two odins wtf is wrong wit my phone
BTW something I forgot to mention, ever since flashing eugenes 2.2.1 under about phone my baseband version always says unknown, even after the odin twice it still says that on every rom. Everything was alwaya fine until I flashed that rom. Odins didn't fix so idk wut is up.
Sorry not to spam but ever since I flashed dead horse and the rom my IMEI always shows up as unknown, even after odin, on any rom.
Couple of things if you odin back t ostock and you still have issues then try
1. Use three button method to get into recovery mode.
2. Click delete all user data.
3. Reboot Enjoy!
Or try clearing the cache, reset phone in recovery and clear dalvik

I got the pit and pda from the eugene does not brick thread then I used the true stock 2.1 firmware after flashing eugenes does not brick. Phone turned on but after media scanning finished it went into boot loot doing the same thing. I then odined the stock official jk2 and phone works again. BUT the reasons I odined in the first place is still there. In about phone no matter what rom or modem I flash it always says unknown under baseband version , and it says unknown on my imei number too, and when I reboot the phone no matter wut rom flight mode is always on so I don't get service untill I turn it off. None of this ever happened until I flashed eugenes newest 2.2.1 rom and even after two odins it still is affected from it.

get clockwork and flash kb5 modem. then save all bytes from the sd card (internal) and wipe it. whatever is causing your problems is persistent through a full \system, \data, \sys, \etc, etc wipe, so it must be on the internal memory.
I am about to do the same to my phone right now...

Let me know of it works for u
worked
everything copied over fine except the hong kong stock rom, so i deleted it. the phone rebuilt the necessary folders and files (Android, dcim, external_sd, lost.dir, and sd).
So does it no longer say unknown for all of those things under about phone?
i didn't have that problem, i ****ed up my kernel/recovery. worse than boot loop, couldn't mount internal, voodoo wouldn't mount \system. my saving grace...odin back to stock.
firtst, i went back to ji6, but didn't have a data connection (probably had the same issue as you have now, i didn't bother to dig deeper), then tried mini kies to get updates, but kies didnt do anything so, i flashed to jfd, (im trying to find it now for you) this got me back to a shipped straight from the box state. with data.
kies (pita) updated to kb5 on its own, went wonderbar. fast data, really smooth ui, i thought it was a tweaked rom. i think i m gonna root it and keep the stock rom...
so, the moral of the story? install mini kies if you don't have it already, wait for the link when i find the jfd i used, flash it, and then upgrasde through mini kies. ou, then put the personal stuff back onto internal

Hi guys, so my Streak's camera stopped working and I have StreakDroid 1.9.1 installed and StreakMod. I called customer service and they said I could exchange it. Does anyone know how to get the stock recovery back on the Streak? I was going to restore a Nandroid backup for Stock Froyo 2.2 for 347 and remove StreakMod.
I read the "What you need to know about the Dell Streak" guide that was made, but the link to the Stock Recovery isn't working.
I also looked at the MultiRecoveryFlasher, but I don't see a version for 347, only 345 and 351.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.
347 was never available in PKG form since it came preinstalled on some Streaks (like mine). There is no recovery image nor a PKG file for 347, so place 351 on your Streak and call it a day. Dell isn't going to care that you upgraded the ROM from 347 to 351. When it comes to exchanging the Streak all they are going to care about is that there is an official Dell ROM on the device.
Ah I see. Thanks for the reply. Also, I've never used MultiRecoveryFlasher, do I need to flash the baseband first, and then the recovery?
Nope. Just flash the recovery. Installing 351 will take care of the rest.
In order to keep streakmod on a stock rom you had to rename or delete install-recovery.sh. If you restore it the stock recovery should reinstall on the next reboot.
So as the title says I want to downgrade back to 2.2 and install simple streak 1.2
Don't think that I can downgrade directly. So how could I go abou3t it?
I wanted sonething nice and not so buggy.how is lobghorn compared to the simplestreak?
Are you aware that version 2.4 of GingerStreak is available and is far more stable than 2.3?
If you want to downgrade, restore a stock ROM first. Doing so replaces the broadband and amss files, as well as ensures that you have a consistent base to work from before putting on SimpleStreak. After that, replace the stock recovery with StreakMod then flash SimpleStreak.
You did search the forums before you asked this I hope?
I was.First thought was to do that. But i didn't quite know if that would replace the amss and the other files i had flashed.Figured i'd double check before attempting anything.
I somehow missed the stability of simplestreak so figured i'd jump to that since streakdroid is pretty much still in beta and some annoying issue or the other always pops up.
With the new StreakDroid comes new baseband and amss files, so you'd have to flash anyway. A stock ROM would put its baseband and amss files on the Streak in place of the ones you used for StreakDroid. But I completely understand the prospect of annoying issues cropping up.
I used the ROM for about a week without a single crash. But then I lost my battery cover and so had to go back to SimpleStreak which has the sensor disabled.
Flashed SS1.2 over 2.4, and did a factory reset. Simple!
