[Q] How do I remove StreakMod? I have BB 347. - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, so my Streak's camera stopped working and I have StreakDroid 1.9.1 installed and StreakMod. I called customer service and they said I could exchange it. Does anyone know how to get the stock recovery back on the Streak? I was going to restore a Nandroid backup for Stock Froyo 2.2 for 347 and remove StreakMod.
I read the "What you need to know about the Dell Streak" guide that was made, but the link to the Stock Recovery isn't working.
I also looked at the MultiRecoveryFlasher, but I don't see a version for 347, only 345 and 351.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

347 was never available in PKG form since it came preinstalled on some Streaks (like mine). There is no recovery image nor a PKG file for 347, so place 351 on your Streak and call it a day. Dell isn't going to care that you upgraded the ROM from 347 to 351. When it comes to exchanging the Streak all they are going to care about is that there is an official Dell ROM on the device.

Ah I see. Thanks for the reply. Also, I've never used MultiRecoveryFlasher, do I need to flash the baseband first, and then the recovery?

Nope. Just flash the recovery. Installing 351 will take care of the rest.

In order to keep streakmod on a stock rom you had to rename or delete install-recovery.sh. If you restore it the stock recovery should reinstall on the next reboot.

Phone messed up badly and/or bricked. Need HELP please.

First of all, I am on a MAC and have an 00 baseband Streak and updated it to a 21 baseband and 2.1 Eclair following the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754418
Everything worked fine up until the end where after the final reboot it got stuck on the Dell logo. Ok, no problem I used the instructions in "How to unbrick your streak *worked for me*":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754448
As instructed I substituted the 2.1 Eclair pkg for the stock and it flashed perfectly, no issues and booted into 2.1. At this point everything pretty much worked fine.
... UNTIL I decided to try an root it to get rid of the O2 Splash Screen. Universal Androot did not work for me previously so I went with the NExus One Superboot method which worked in the past. That's where it all went to hell and the Dell boot logo came up and the unit just sat there.
I have tried re-doing it, from all the steps listed, but either get a black screen in the recovery phase (after choosing update for sdcard/update.zip) or the Dell logo on boot. I have also tried AdamG's 'rooted eclair build [6841]' img but it also just comes back with the Dell logo (listed below).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753699
... NOW, the only thing that seems to work is clockworkrecovery using AdamG's updated 2.5.0.1 Dell Streak (original or alt img) (listed below) and the 4399-update-streak-stock-rooted-signed.zip file renamed to update.zip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754563
Every time I put an Update.pkg file on my sdcard and try to update using recovery it gives me a black screen in the recovery process. Renaming it to update.zip just gives me an error when I try to update in recovery mode. I just cannot seem to find a stock recovery ROM that will update using a .pkg file (either stock or 2.1) without giving me a black screen.
Any help/ideas/prayers would be greatly appreciated as I'd hate to think that I now have an $800 paper weight.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Why can't you just fastboot flash the stock recovery and boot images?
i can flash the stock recovery but cant find 1.6 stock .img files. Ive tried with my nandroid images from 1.6 and they dont work, just sits at dell screen. If i flash the stock 2.1 it loads but no radio so useless.

It's definitely worth a shot for everyone with this issue to try, although it did not work for me.
FIXED
Thanks to marra2 who provided a link to a 1.6 rev.4399 NANDROID backup image I am now up and running. I used it to get my Streak operational then did the update to 2.1 Eclair and all is well.

The update.pkg is the actual rom and flashes via the first recovery screen (option 2 then it installs) after you've flashed the stock.img.
Clockworkmod (option 2 then black screen with green writing) is for update.zip which are update files for custom roms (steves 2.2) for that you flash clockworkrecovery.img.
You will also need to downgrade the baseband back to 1.1.1 version.
Hope it makes more sense now?
Hi, i am unable to find the stock image to help install the dell 2.2 rom.
The ones i tried are give a blank screen when i select update from SD (option 2) hence the problem. Searched a lot and there are too many image files saying stock image but all give the same problem, one gave a fota mismatch.
The PDF put together by one of the members was very helpful updating.
Thanks for your help on this.

If I were you, I would...
Downgrade the baseband
Then just flash the dell 2.2 (factory reset before loading)
Need help with how to do that
Please let me know how to go about that.
Also wanted to have the stock recovery to cover any warranty related issues.

Glad you got it sorted... the stockrecovery.img is for flashing purposes only, doesn't affect warrenty. There is a thread somewhere on modaco you might want to bookmark just in case, restoring streak to factory condition to send back sort of wording.
Yes am happy it got sorted out..files are on STEVE'S WEBSITE too

[Q] update to 2.2 caused buttons to flash now and then

Hey everyone - I just got a new Rogers Dell Streak. Like a good noob, I followed a guide on how to upgrade the rogers build 7921 and I'm now at Android 2.2, Build 10688. Everything seems to work OK so far, but the home, menu and back buttons flash every 1 minute exactly. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, it's almost as if it's a notification of some kind. They do not flash while the screen is off (sleep).
I followed a few different guides and I think this may be the issue but I thought I'd ask first. the first thing I did was use QDL Repair Tool to upgrade to a dell release of 2.2 (I guess)... the last thing I did was follow the StreakDroid Rom installation instructions using StreakMod Recovery, amss.mbn, and then tried to install Streakdroid 1.6.1, but it wouldn't boot properly, so restored 2.2 using nandroid.
I've done some searches but couldn't really find an answer to the issue I'm having.
If anyone could give me the step required to correctly upgrade the Rogers version of Dell Streak I'd really appreciate it. Ideally I'd like to get to a stable version of 2.2 (DJ_Steve's preferably, but I would be OK to go to the new release from Dell if it would work right).
thanks everyone!
-Steve
Never mind everyone. I figured it out. I reverted back to a stock Rom and recovery and started all over. I'm now using cw recovery and Dj_steves 1.8.1 Rom.
Everything seems to be working great!
Cheers!

Not sure what to do

Hey guys and gals, i bought a whitr dell streak used off somebody and it has streakdroid on it. I want to go back to the att rom, but since i didnt upgrade it to streakdroid, i'm not sure what he used or did to get it that way. What is the safest way to get back to the stock att rom?
my phone says.
android version 2.2
baseband GAUSB1A131800-us
kernel 2.6.32.9-dj_steve-BFS-CFQ-KGSL2D-Vol-OC
oem version Froyo V1.6.0 by DJ_Steve
Just not sure where i should go to get back to stock.
thanks
Get the version of the ROM you want and put it on your SD card. do some searching and you will find a link where someone has them.
Next flash the recovery for the same version of the ROM. There is a tool called multirecovery or something like that. Use the tool to do the flashing. Again there is a thread with instructions.
once you have flashed the recovery then boot inot the recovery and install the ROM. To do this power up and hold down the volume buttons just when the Streak sgarts to boot up. Once in recovery, make the selection to update.

That should give you a good head start. From the ROM link, I'd download either the 345 or 351 ROM, because that way you don't have any AT&T restrictions such as sideloading and tethering.
Thank you guys. I will give it a shot.

[Q] Can anyone explain the builds to me please?

I have been searching all night and can not find what i am looking for.
Can some one explain why the dell streak 5 I have is at version #347 15274 but i see that latest retail version as # 351 15609.
My question is what are the differences between the two? I also see a new build from hong kong version #354 15881.
I already have a rooted phone but i have never upgraded the version before. Is it even worth it?
I guess i am just confused.
Actually there is a lot of info at the XDA Streak Wiki.
It appears that 347 is one of the ROMs that TheManii does not have files for. You should contact him about sharing your ROM with him, so it can be posted to the Wiki.
AFAIK 351 is just bug fixes. I am running 351 and have found it to be very stable.

I have never used 347 so I can not make any comparison. I do know that 351 runs very well for me. The reports that I see for 351 are better bluetooth and wifi connectivity.
I would try downloading the 351 .pkg file directly to your phone. When the DL is complete open your notification bar and tap on the completed download and it should install. Using this method preserves your apps and settings. You should be connected to WiFi.
Please note that on some phones (probably depends on what apps you are using) you may see issues and have to do a factory reset after the upgrade which will mean setting up your phone again, so back everything up.
You must have the stock recovery for 347 on your phone for this to work. If you still have install-recovery.sh on your phone (never renamed or deleted it) your phone will still have the stock recovery on it. See this info about the recovery image.
If the upgrade does not install rename the file to upgrade.zip and make sure it is in the root of your SD card and install it from recovery.
Read this flashing guide.
Please contact TheManii before upgrading to see if you can get the 347 files to him.
I already have a nandroid of 347, what i dont have is a pkg which i would not expect him to have.
