my icons have gone maaad :| - Optimus One, P500, V General

i'm having problems with some of my apps, they are listed as installed in my app manager, but they are missing from my app drawer and their shortcuts from my home screen just looks like the default .apk icon, but they are running properly. :| how can i fix this?

this happens due to sd card unmounts. the apps installed on your sd card will be affected.
possible fix: move them to phone memory, restart phone, move them back to sd card.
if that does not work, create their backup using astro and reinstall them.

so you mean to say that there's a problem with my card?

I don't think that those widgets will work if you install them on SD. You'll have to take them back to the phone memory and re-add them.
It's a know problem with widgets and placing them on the SD. It does work when you use a app2SD scripts with ext partition if I recall correctly.
Thanks for the answers. I will reinstall them on phone memory, but it is strange that they worked perfectly well on the sd for the couple of days.
Do you have the same problem about the low phone storage memory, although there is about 17mb of free space? I didn't have this with 2.1 version

Memory Card Does Not Exist

I have a Samsung Epic 4g and just recently while trying to download third party apps or anything outside of the Android Market I get the error: Memory Card Does Not Exist. Has anybody ever had this error? Please help!!!!

I've got the sd card does this before just the restart your phone and see if your sd card is back using a file browser.

Yea I tried to reboot but still its giving me errors

Does file explorer find the sd card? Is the sd shown as mounted in the settings?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yes it finds it, its just every time I time I try to download something from one of those downloading sites, it just goes to memory card does not exist. Is my sd car corrupted or something?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Well you might need to format your sd card, or not use third party markets...
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
How do you reformat your card? Do I lose everything that is saved on my card when I do?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yes, a reformat wipes the sd. To reformat you can do it from recovery by mounting sd and formating or from the settings menu

Please download another app from Android market and see if this error also appears.
Thats the weirdest part about this. I can download from the market just fine, its just gives me the memory card does not exist when I go to download a zip from one of those file sharing sites.

Is it possible that the problem comes from the the app itself, maybe you can try another app from the same site or another one from the shared links. It happens to me sometime, and I will just let it go and try something else.
Thats what I thought too but thats not it. It gives me that error whenever I download from any of those file sharing sites. I tried to download Roms, Music, Etc with no luck... It just keeps saying Memory Card Does Not Exist.

Noob question

I want stuff like downloads and what not saves tto SD card... they all go on phone memory I hate that my phone memory is 4.Gb left and my internal SD is 11.4.. how do I get all saved stuff to SD card!?!?!

If you mean things you are saving off from the browser, it is in the browser options.
Not just that how about apps also!?

You have to move those manually I think. Under settings>apps>manage apps. After that go into a few of them. If they can be moved the move to sd card with be available. I don't think it can be done by default.
I use the app below myself. Every week or so, I'll load up the app and have it move whatever it can over to my SD card. You can set it to do it all in one shot or app by app, whichever you prefer. You can also enable a Notification to alert you when an app can be moved.

[Q] ZDBOX moving apps to sd card

I have ZDBOX installed on my nook tablet and used it to move apps to my sd card. The only problem is now I cannot find the apps. If I'm in ZDBOX, go to the App to SD tab, and click on - ON SD CARD, NOTHING is there! The app is also now missing from my App Manager. Did I lose the app? How can I find it? What's the use of having the SD card if I can't move anything to it!
Are you using the stock ROM? It does not play well with moving apps to the SD card. Not something B&N intended, I guess.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Yes I am. So these apps are now lost?
If I recall correctly, that is the case. What is motivating you to move them to the SD card? By default, they are installed to the (larger) B&N partition.

Storage Question

Seems that I have no room left on my phone storage & tons of space left on my SD card. How can I get my phone to put everything on the card, by default??
Would this work: if I hook my phone up to my PC, then just took all the folders on my phone storage, and moved them to the Card. Would my apps & stuff still work or would doing that not be good??

I am rooted also

I don't think just copying the apps will allow them to work. You can use Application Manager to move some apps to the sd card.
I went thru all my apps & moved whichever ones I was able to move. But I did that a long time ago. So I still have no room on my phone storage.

Move photos, downloads and any music on your phone to your SD card too. Then in your camera app go to settings and change the SD card as default.
Download the free version of SD Maid and use it to clean up old thumbnails and program files still on your phone from before you moved them.
I once deleted 2gb of photo gallery thumbnails from my phone with this app. You can also see which files are the largest on your phone and SD card to see if you can move or delete anything.
I have this app on my phone, tab, and my kids tabs to keep up with their memory and storage usage.

Thanks, I'm also running out of space, I'll give this a shot.
Tonight I was gonna try to just backup all my.stuff and then start over. I use GO launcher and I saw that I have GO backup on my phone, so I was gonna try to.use that. I started the app & it said my SD card is corrupted or damaged. I included a screenshot of what it said:
So would this be the reason why everything is on my internal storage instead of my card? Or is that message just something I.should ignore??

If you have a card reader unmount your SD card, take it out and try reading it on a computer. If you can read it I would copy everything off and put in a temporary folder on your desktop. Then format the card with the computer and put it back in the phone, format it using the phone and try your back-up again.
If it works put the card back in your computer and copy your files back. Be sure to unmount the card each time. Mine went corrupt once because I didn't.
How do I make the SD card, the default storage for everything? Or is that not possible...

You would have to change defaults on all your apps, camera is a big one.
