hello everyone,
i'm a newbie and just tried to flash the rom of my phone to a newer version and then i got to the point where i needed help.
my phone is x10mini baseband m76xx-tsncjolym-53404015 with kernel 2.6.29 and 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware.
first i root my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833722
then i install xrecovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426x and copied everyting to system/bin ...
after wiping the settings (factory settings) in xrecovery, installing MIMICM6 1.00 and restarting, i got an error message saying "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" repeatedly (each time two messages) and also no network (gsm) connectivaty.
then i though that maybe i need another rom.. so i tried xCyanogenMini - Gigglebread - v10 and got the same thing. same with Srom-2.3.3Gingerbread-v1 and then ... i decided to try to go back to factory-empty-backup and i got network connectivaty and no error messages whatsoever.
so it seems that my phone dont like non-official roms?
any help in this matter ?
thanks,
elad

1)use SEUS to clean up and install the official FW.
2)root and then install Xrecovery
30backup your fw using Xrecovery
4)copy to your sd card and rename the downloaded CM1 as update
5)install through Xrecovery using the update zip option
6)only then do a factory reset---REMEMBER only after you install your custom ROM
7)reboot
NOTE---ensure that you format your sd card(and avoid having any partition) before you start all this but of course after backing up the contents of your sd card so that you can copy all of it back again.
Best wishes.

very easy--start by reading http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
....download to your pc the free software, connect your phone with the sd card in it,mount and then use what you have read carefully.
One thumb rule to remember is that the size of the partition that you create should be not more than 10% the size of your sd card---eg if you have an sd card that is 2GB in size.don't make a partition larger than 200MB....
For most of your needs,it is better to create and ext 3 partition,of course PRIMARY.

hello sathkartha and thank you very much for your quick answer !
what you described is just what i did... step by step... without success so far.
i will try to do anything again from scratch (starting with the SEUS) and hope it will do better this time... will keep u posted.
thanks again
app2sd
btw, i wanted 2 ask - according to the root article in the forum there are two main stages, the root itself and then the installataion of app2sd usind the adb shell... so.. i wanted to ask what is the app2sd for ? is it required ?
thanks!
hey,
sorry about the multiple posts... i've just tried to redo everything frmo scratch.
i payed extra attention to what i actually need todo lol since i'm still little new in this.. and i think that everything was done right (root, xrec, update rom ...) but i still get the same result. right after the initial (2mins) boot when i get the android logo and the 'click to begin' text, i'm getting the same annoying com.android.phone error and i see no network connection on the icons on the top bar.
what can be the cause? the phone seems to be working fine with the original sony rom and the other roms seems to be working fine... only with no network which brings those annyoing messages.
any ideas???
thanks
ohh this is annoying! no computer have come to defeat me so far (i'm a pretty advanced user hehe).., and as u can guess i'm still playing with this thing.
currently the biggest progress that i could make (same on every rom) is that if i'm able to tap the phone into airplane mode the errors stops (but still no network connection ofcourse). then if i leave it on airplace mode, reboot and disable airplane i'm able to go into the network setting for a sec before it crush and even get the list of providers. for a sec it seems like its connecting and then.. the same error. i tried to disable network data, to set only 2g providors.. and any setting i've tried so far gave me the same annoying com.android.phone error.
from what i can understand.. the error that i have is related to the sim card somehow? so i tried to take the usim card off and see whats up.. the result? no error but still no network connection (duh), but this time it seems like everything is working fine? i'm able to get into all of the network settings without airplane mode and etc and list the network providers but nothing more as u can guess because i dont have a sim installed.
anyway, i'm hopeless, dunno how to continue from here.
needs ideas!
thanks again everyone! and btw: this forum kickass!

just wondering---after installation of CM1 and when your phone boots and you see the opening screen with a green android with the text, you click on the android to begin okay?On the following and subsequent screens, click on 'skip' button instead of sign in etc right upto the stage it ends with 'finish'.
You will then see the launcher and the home screen from which go to 'settings'---wireless networks----mobile networks-----now on this list check and enable data traffic.By default, this is not enabled and it will not facilitate data.
This is the only thing I can think of that you may have to redo properly and wish you all the luck.
Best wishes.
no success yet...
i tried also cm2 and cm1 without success (everything is same), on each of the versions that i've installed i could somehow skip the initial setup and make some testings and all of the versions gave the same results - whenever the phone isnt on airplane mode there is an error message repeating twice each time with about a sec delay between the 'double error popups', in the sec between i'm able to use the phone.. until what i do is being halt by the error message.
once or twice (when starting the phone on airplane mode - aka starting airplane mode and rebooting) i was able to use the phone for a min or so each time with airplane mode off and with network connection (coudlnt make phonecalls but received income calls).
it seems like there is something going very wrong when the phone tries to read the usim card, the only thing i can think of is something related to the service proviers here in israel ? dunno ?
anyway, for now i gave up testings... because it doenst seem to work :-( but my phone is rooted and xrecovery-ready for future testing so please if u have an idea ... lets try! ;-) hehe
thanks again,
cheers,
elad
hey dude
the problem is as you said
the phone trying to read the usim card but it cant
i bet you are on Cellcom
the only way to fix this problem is to replace your usim card
as you know , cellcom holds yellow and white usim cards
and probably you got the yellow one
changin to the white usim will solve your mystery
if you try orange sim it will work on you phone without that error its
throwing at you

hmmn.. my x10 mini does not have that kind of problem. by the way, what is your rom version, you could access it on Settings->About, are you using custom rom.
even back then when I was using 1.6 until now 2.1, I dont have any problem with the camera.
or you could install watchdog to see the process culprit.
i think you have removed the your phone from flashing pre-maturely. same thing happened to me after i upgraded from 1.6 to 2.1.
try to reflash your phone and see if still persist.

I had the same identical problem from the first day i bought the phone. look at my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913448
but now (due to some delay on giving) i have given the phone to the se service center and they flashed the phone, which was utterly meaningless. now i have given the phone and they have it on 'observation'. tomorrow i have to go and get the phone back.
i tell you again, it is not the software, but the hardware. give it to the se center and check it out. flashing the phone will make no difference.
I thought i was the only guy suffering from this maniac problem, but now i found a partner. (just kidding)
Regards!
i got my phone with the main board changed. now it works normally. matter finished!
I had the problem of phone rebooting when using camera...sent phone to service but they just flashed it and sent it back saying it was fixed... apparently it was not. Anyways i found a workaround which seems to work fine for me. Down load automatic task killer from market and install it. Go to settings and in list add Camera app. This will kill the camera application rather than letting it run in background which makes the phone crash when we restart the camera application. The camera works fine when you are using it. The task is killed only when you dont use it. Try this if it works for someone else too.
camera error can be rectified by two steps,
1. Connect ur phone to pc with pc companion or unmount the sd card from it. Then open the camera app.it shows a message "no sd card" or something like that.If the camera application can run in the absence of sd card do the next step.
2.Cconnect ur sd card to pc by either card reader or the device.open the drive then reset the computer setting to "show hidden files and folders" and delete thumbnails, cache in camera folders(DICM) or back up the personal data and format it.(check back up contains thumbnails,cache.....).ur camera will work finely.............................
for any doubts email me [email protected]

Hi guys;
I run American Android SD version and since 4 days my phone is always busy for who ever is trying to call me. I know the SIM and card is good, because it works perfectly in Windows mobile. Also the green key to bring the phone app does nothing. For the called her hears one ring and then shows the caller is busy. What is happening?
I am guessing I blocked a service or deleted a file or changed a setting. Would any one have a clue what could have happened? The green key does nothing as well.
Thanks
I have reset permissions for from clockwork, un-installed7disabled all apps which was installed lately. Still no joy.
Any one with a clue where to go?
Backup your data with astro file manager then reflash the rom.
Finally had to start again
Bit the bullet, formatted and started everything again. Seems to be working now.
Hi
I recently installed Touchpal Dialer to replace the Android Stock Dialer (Phone). I then used Titanium Backup to uninstall the stock dialer. (I only select Phone and pressed 'Uninstall'). However in the process of uninstall, something crashed (some process stopped working) and I was stuck on Force Close (which repeatedly pops up).
So to return to Android I rebooted. However the phone can no longer detect the the SIM card (and hence the network). I tried to access Settings>Call, but I get the error "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly".
My first thought was to restore Phone using Titanium Backup, but this seemed to be stuck (or at least it was taking excessively long >20min).
Then I reinstalled the rom but that doesn't affect the files required to detect the sim card.
How do I fix this and get my phone to be able to dial again?
Any and all help is much appreciated.

If there was a point in time when everything was working and then one change was made, the stock dialer was removed, then things stopped working, the solution would be to revert back to the working point in time.
Curious, what guide suggested the removal of the stock dialer?
As a side note, before removing files it is always best to either make a complete backup, nandroid, or to at least backup the specific file being removed so it can be quickly and easily replaced.
The main issue here seems to be the removal of the stock dialer. On the technical side of things, the dialer is a very integrated component of Android.
In AOSP, which all ROMs to some degree are based off, the dialer apk file contains not only the dialer but also browsing of contacts and links in on the back end with a few files.
Once you restore the Dialer, I think called phone.apk or something similar, the issues should go away such as FC. If there are issues accessing the SIM card after restoring the previously removed file, off the top of my head, my best guess would be to clear out the settings stored on the data partition. A setting could have been created during the dialer removed state which might prevent the system from restoring proper SIM access.
Hope that adds a bit more detail around the standard process of removing files and making adjustments!
Cheers thanks, much appreciated.
Largely the guide of my ignorance that decided to remove the stock dialer. It's only in the last half hour or so that I've just come by a guide that specifically says to *not* remove the stock dialer. In the first instance I thought it wouldn't be such a big deal as Titanium Backup could always restore it ... in which it turned out it couldn't.
So after all's said and done, is there a way (apart from Ti Backup) to restore just the stock dialer phone.apk (say by download or other)?
Another approach I'm considering is to find a way to flash a custom / stock ROM to fix this. However as my phone is unbranded and on HBOOT 1.49.0018, I'm finding this very difficult with the standard methods posted. On the other hand, ideas are starting to run out and desperation running high!

I have had this happen to me a few times, this mostly happens when you apply a mod/tweak to a rom that is not compatible. Do a wipe and re-flash the rom that you want and it should fix the problem.
Thanks so much for this, that's fixed it.
Re wiping, since you can wipe from the Recovery and installation of the rom wipes before flashing anyway, is it necessary to use a wipe img? If so, what is recommended? (As I'm on HBOOT 1.49, I seem to only be able to run CWM 4.0.1.4 Shooteru Recovery).
ROM not booting
Looks like I've dug myself into another hole again.
The 'Sim Card detection' problem was fixed with a wipe from CWM 4.0.1.4 and flashed with ShaWn3D v1.4 rom. Everything works and I was happy.
But I was keen to try out the LeeDroid rom but the WiFi error keeps recurring despite my attempts with the solutions provided at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248838.
I've tried:
- re-flashing LeeDroid with so many versions of bcm4329.ko I've lost count
- reflashing the kernel with the LeeDroid kernel addet
- re-flashing another rom altogether (King Cobra v1.9) to see if it makes a difference; it doesn't - WiFi persists.
So now I've decided to go back to the ShaWn3D rom but now although the flash is successful, the boot is stuck at the white HTC splash screen.
What have I done wrong?
Hey guys, this is my first time starting a thread on this site, so please bear with me for a bit. Earlier today my S2 was working fine, i was browsing the net, chatting and etc. But when i started my "whats app" it started lagging for a bit, because i was chatting to a group. Then all of a sudden when i lock my phone and later on unlocked it, it said the phone was running on "Safe Mode". Soo i google'd "how to exit safe mode on galaxy" and it gave me a few solutions, one of them told me to switch off the phone and remove the battery for a minute. I did that, and all of a sudden when i unlock my phone, applications keep crashing including the interface itself ("TWLauncher" i guess that's its name) Soo please help me as i don't know much about this. My phone is not even rooted, i could manage to open the task manager but that's all. I can't even use the usb as it will crash again. All help would be greatly appreciated =)
*small update* I could access my settings and i could switch to the ics launcher but i still can't use the net and stuff =S
Basically I've noticed the default apps that comes with the phone are acting up :S

I can't do that really =S Because i have alot of important data on my phone, this problem came out of nowhere. I hope i could find a solution before referring to that
You have not backed up your data ??? Nor do you have a nandroid backup ???
If so you need to access the internal storage of the phone via USB mass storage and copy off what you can .
Alternative methods such as rooting and installing a no wipe custom rom will probably keep your data but void warranty .

If you are not worried about your applications you just do factory reset of the phone and try
settings/privacy/factory data reset
if you are not able to do this,
Volume Up + Home + Power brings your Phone into Recovery Mode.
Volume up: Highlight up
Volume down: Highlight down
Home: select
Power: back
select wipe data factory reset
if your phone keep crashing and you will not be able to factory reset... then you can did it from recovery mode from stock ..
Just hold power-menu-vol up from off condition then chooswl wipe data from recovery mode
if u thank me then i will thank you ( 이 승 기 )

My IMEI is still the same, the phone never was SIMlocked, and I already read all the Help-Threads in this Forum.
I also tried to create some new APN´s, because there weren´t any - but after setting all the informations and pressing "save APN" there is no APN shown. It seems not to be saved in any way.
In order to this problem, all my contacts exported on SIM are gone. Checked SIM in another mobile phone - it works and I get service, but the contacts are gone. This isn´t my major problem, but this info might help diagnose.
After checking all options and re- re- re-setup the system i don´t know what to do.
Please please help me, i don´t like setting up the old Sony Android 2.1 again - it´s so ugly!
At least, please pardon my "english" - i tried my very best
update
I still hope someone might help me fixing this bug.
meanwhile I tried searching manually for service-providers, and it´s disgusting. The result is, that my phone can find each provider you can find in germany but mine.
then i tried to re-install with testing other miniCM (9; 10) - and it´s still the same result with miniCM9. The miniCM10 doesn´t finish the setup-wizzard correctly, and it seems as if the miniCM10 would create the system on my SD-card and not on the internal memory.
so, yesterday i got used to having a broken phone, i tried CM7-robyn (not the mini-version), and the display just showed some kind of "test-screen"...
