What do you think? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looks like Big Red is getting the S2. Now the question should i get the Play, Revo ,or S2?

not a big fan of leaks because most seem way far off and I hope this one is too...
If vzw is gonna support an s2, that can only mean bad things for mt fassy.
They barely support this one and which do you think they are really gonma keep up on? A 3g or 4?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

They will be supporting the bigger and better phone of course which is why i will be updating to the S2 once its available. Thats the way it works. My Eris wasnt sold or supported pretty much at all 7 months after it was released. The Incredible replaced it.

Most people believe that roadmap to be fake... The SGS2 probably won't hit VZW until late summer or fall, since the carriers will make their physical alterations and add their bloat. Just take a look at last year's SGS and SGS variants release schedule

Engadget just posted their review of the SGS2 and it's probably the most glowing review of a non-Apple product I've ever seen from them. I'm seriously considering selling my Fascinate sometime in the summer to get it, it looks simply amazing. No more pentile subpixel, bigger screen, thinner, faster, *better* battery life... seriously, my Fascinate is my favorite gadget but the SGS2 is on a whole other level. And it looks like jt's going to get one...

I'd be shocked if the majority of Fascinate devs didn't end up getting it...

Infuse to Note?

Who jumped ship from the infuse? I did today picked up the note and it does take some getting used too. I do like it though.

I did, dropped the infuse like a bad habit. I love the note. As soon as I saw the release at CES I knew I had to have it...

My brother-in-law has the Infuse and was always bragging about his Infuse was bigger than my Atrix. Now he rarely takes it out while I'm showing off the Note he's now currently finding a way to get an early upgrade to get the Note.
I did also. Larger screen is great.

I too now have the Note. I still have my Infuse..it has been an awesome phone and i had tons of fun with custom ROMS. Looking very forward to what's coming in Dev for thsi beast.
I will be upgrading to the Note by Summer at the latest. I cannot wait. The Infuse has decent dev support, but the forums are filled with a bunch of jackasses. I got the Infuse when it was a top of the line device for ATT, before the SGS2 was released, and had high hopes for it, as it had the best screen on the market at the time and was a super solid device. However, I have a feeling that after the SGS2 was released that the Infuse was only bought by people that aren't serious about android, because it was discounted heavily for a fairly new device. That led to the forums flooding with inconsiderate n00bs that drove many great devs off of the Infuse. I have been waiting for something great to come along, and the Note is my golden ticket.
I was also wanting to get a tablet, but the Note seems to fill my want/need for both a tablet and a new phone perfectly. In my eyes, the Note is the future of mobile devices. It is basically the largest pocketable device possible, and the S Pen gives it added functionality that puts it on par with the larger screens of many tablets. The HD screen, coupled with its dual core processor and all other specs make it seem as though it will be a fairly future proof device. I don't think that many other devices of similar form factor will be released, and the size of the screen is perfect in my eyes. I see the Note as the first device that I will actually be happy with for a full two years, unless a Note 2 is released within that two years.
I jumped over to the Note on release day. My girlfriends teenage son got my Infuse ane couldn't be happier as he was a windows phone fan before the Infuse was handed down. I'm pretty pleased with the Note, myself. Looking forward to great dev support, ICS down the road (hopefully not too far) and fewer of the afore mention douche nozzles.

I agree that there are quite a few rude people on the infuse forums!! Everyone has been really nice on the note forums so far.
I switched from the Infuse to the Note yesterday. My Infuse battery was giving me about 3-4 hours and I was having to charge it incessantly - driving me crazy. Picked the Note because it was the newest, got generally good reviews, gets ICS soon. I was worried about the size, but it took me about 15 minutes to get used to it. Doesn't seem hard to use as many have said, and I have normal sized hands.
Compared to the Infuse the screen is way better, it is faster to use and so far the battery life is much longer. I rooted it the Mashi way, but will steer clear of custom ROMS for the time being.

Hey rocket! In case you didn't notice I'm now rocking the Note! Haha. Skyrocket wasn't working for me. After my coworker got the note and i messed with it I was like disgusted by my phone ( skyrocket ). Seriously couldn't even look at it without thinking about how much better the note prob was. Lol. Anyway. Great device. Now just need dman working on a noteworthy Zeus release right?

Not necessarily true. I got my Infuse for a penny. I am very serious about android, Just cheap! I broke down and got the Note so I could read the screen without reading glasses. Getting older sucks!! We are not all college age party-ers- But to those of you who are, have fun now before the real world comes crashing in on you! LOL The good ole days!!!
Jury is still out for me about what's better. I like the size of the Infuse better for portability. But the technology of the Note is top of the line. I'm sim swapping for now. And to return the note for a Skyrocket is not an option. The infuse does nicely for me. I like them both - the Note and the Infuse- for different reasons. I'll be keeping them both. The only thing I miss when switching back and forth are the texts that don't flow on both. Any way to sync sms texts between Phones?

Yeah, the Infuse is definitely worth the penny. I'm hoping to either snag the $150 off on the Note or that it at least is discounted by the time I get it. I got my Infuse shortly after its launch for $200, but my parents paid for it for my early birthday present. My dad is allowing me to use his upgrade for the Note, but I have to pay half and I hope I can get some sort of deal to make it less than $150 out of my pocket.
Good Luck!
I had the infuse then I made the mistake of upgrading to the thrill and selling the infuse. I had to snag note...I love everything about this phone.
this phone is what you get when a skyrocket and galaxy tab get together and make babies - galaxy note!

Get the Galaxy Note on Amazon.com, its $249.99 for existing customers on individual or family plans. Amazon always has AT&T devices cheaper than anywhere else without tryin to rip people off and make them get certain plans.
I currently have the Infuse and when I am eligible for an upgrade on March 18th I will be getting the Note. I do have a pass for an early upgrade from an AT&T store this week but I would lose the $50 gift card that Best Buy recently offered. Not a huge difference but if I am not so fortunate to get the $150 back that many others got, I would like at least some money off the top. Especially since I will not have sold my Infuse yet.
Now I just need to convince myself that I do want to wait three more weeks (I am not so sure ).

Contract Up - Which phone next?

So I'm due for an upgrade, and the only things that even remotely look appealing are the Samsung Note or Skyrocket. I do like the nexus, but the specs feel more like a lateral move than a vertical one. It has a slightly faster processor (if I didn't overclock), NFC (which is cool, but nothing around here uses), and a worse camera. The biggest thing going for it is ICS and the AMOLED, and from what it looks like, the Atrix will have ICS soon too. So really, it feels like I'm just trading the fingerprint scanner for AMOLED.
It seems like all the cell phone companies lately just released their own flavor of the exact same device. I don't even hear talk of anything else with ICS coming along. Honestly, I think this might be the first time that I sit on my current device for a while.
Does anyone know of anything coming in the near (next year-ish) future that would be a good option? More importantly, I really like the fingerprint scanner. I heard somewhere that ICS has at least some built in fingerprint support, but does anyone know if there are plans for any new phones with fingerprint scanners?
For now, I think I'll flash another build of something, that usually stops the "I need new stuff!" feeling for a while
Wait for Sony Ion to be released!
<edit> New HTC One X doesn't look bad either.
Samsung Galaxy S3? Due sometime this year.
My contact renewal is in March. I'm either going to get the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD, or if the SGS III is coming out within the next 3 months, I may wait for it... if it's not going to be out until Q3, then screw it, Skyrocket HD it is.

The regular skyrocket is actually better than the HD version, something to do with the SoC... Best bet right now is the SGS3 - nothing compares to it thus far - even if the rumors are even partially true....
The literally just announced HTC One X looks pretty good if you dont mind the non-removable battery.
If you're looking for a good rom, try Turl's CM9 v8. No camcorder but otherwise really solid and fast.

Rumor's floating around the skyrocket forum that the 'HD'(introduced at CES) may not actually see production. I believe a fairly credible Sammy source divulged the information but rumors are just rumors...
if true, I'd speculate the Note and S3 rubbed it out of the lineup.
My next phone is SGS3 or atrix 3
CM9 v7
Unlocked SIM,
& Bootloader!
That HTC one X looks sweet, depending on what the specs are when it ships. In my ultra short Google search i saw something about losing the Tegra 3 due to incompatibilities.
I like the sound of the quad core atrix 3, but without the fingerprint scanner it really puts it down a few notches.
I did find this http://www.geeksailor.com/fujitsu-quad-core-tegra-3-smartphone/ I never really cared for fujitsu before, but if they play their cards right then that might be my next phone! (Assuming it does actually launch in the US) It's the only thing I can find coming out with ICS and a fingerprint scanner. It also has a quad-core 1.5GHz, and the 13.1MP camera and rugged-ized body sound pretty sweet too.
I don't know your tastes but the razr could be an option due to is similar to the atrix but with a little improvements, also this phone will have "ICS". (Well the Atrix too =P)
And if you prefer something similar to the "Galaxy Note" the HTC Sensation XL could be an option too, due to it have a big screen, also it have beats audio, but well is not the most powerful phone.
Sorry for my horrible English. I hope my post is clear.
I do like the RAZR, but it does not have much more than the Atrix I have now, and I don't think it runs on AT&T (correct me if I am wrong).
Mostly, I want a new phone, on AT&T, with ICS (standard, if I wanted XDA to support it I could stick with what I have), and a fingerprint scanner. It also needs to have an easy recovery, and while an unlocked bootloader is not required, the ability to modify the ROM and kernel is. I realize that the fingerprint scanner might have to be a lost dream, but whatever replaces it has to make up for that wonderful feature somewhere else.
Right now, I don't see any phone on the market that can meet that criteria, so I'm looking toward what's coming.
I retract my comment, the HTC one X is a beast.
My vote is on the Galaxy SIII
Yea the more I look, the better the SGS3 sounds. From what I hear, Samsung has been very good at giving people who want to modify the tools to do so. I don't like the "apple style" reporting being done on it though. Give me some real specs already!
The more I think about the HTC one X, the more I think it will be a flash in the pan. It's going to be the top of the market, I'll give you that, but not for very long. The 1800mAh, non-removable battery is gonna kill it I think, at least for me.

FML, the American LTE version is gimped! F YOU SAMSUNG! So who else is looking at the next HTC phone? Seriously, if it's not a Samsung Exynos, I'm not going NEAR it.
The official word I got from Samsung is that the specs for the USA ATT SG3 haven't actually been confirmed yet, so there's some small hope.(small.)
We have a S3 forum now
I really dont know who would buy that phone. Samsung really screwed it up. visual wise. the back looks like a cheap phone. it is round. i was really expecting something else from samsung. i had money saved for it. but im gonna take it to HTC instead and import one of those HTC one X in black. it is really a bad looking phone it looks cheap. nothing about it makes say og hot dam look at that. the i777 looks way better.

Agreed. As with every other Galaxy S line version, I expect the American version (and different carrier designs as well) to look differently. In my opinion, AT&T has always had the more aesthetically pleasing of each iteration (Captivate and our device, in comparison with the Fascinate, etc.). I'm not sure this is salvageable though lol.
In regards to the HTC One X, I guess you don't want the AT&T version?
I am hoping At&t just might release 2 again as with the Skyrocket and OG but thats looking grim. Depending on how much the At&t costs vs. the International, I might just sell the OG S2 and just import, but the S4 chip does seem fast and I am in an area of LTE.

I like the new s3. Its candy. Og Hspa + quad exynos. Not getting it tho just got my s2 last November so it would be dumb to replace this great phone so soon . Bring on the Note plus next year!
Now Im really glad I bought the OneX.
Lets hope they make the S IV better.
Now, for my thoughts on the SIII... The only thing that got my attention was that half of the announcement was all software related tweaks and improvements. But its still TouchWiz. They made TW hook into the phone deeper than ever and its ugly. I feel they relied more on software and less on hardware.
Samsung should have taken a page from HTC's playbook and scaled back (like HTC did with Sense4) instead of driving the roots of TW even further into the core. Just look how ugly the messaging app is or how laggy and ugly the photo album was when doing burst shot. If they are going to integrate TW into everything, at least make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
If they sell an Exynos based version in the US subsidized then I will buy it. I don't live in an LTE area and I get solid 4-11MB/s with my SGS2 which is more than sufficient for my needs. I download AOKP and CM9 directly to my phone and it only takes a couple mins and that is the only time my data speeds are taxed even a little. The need some people have for 20+ MB/s connections seems crazy to me I don't get it. I would MUCH rather have the faster CPU. If there is no US Exynos version of the SGS3 I will probably just wait until 2013 to upgrade.
SGS3 > One X.
One X deal killer: non removable 1800mAH battery and 12GB user accessible built-in storage with no microsd expansion slot.

I am very picky about how my phones look. the S3 was on buy list no matter (i was expecting Samsung to come up with a better design than the crap they released), now way in hell i am going to spend on that phone. I hate oval looking phones. HTC One X is oval, but it way better looking than the S3 i got to give it to HTC on this one.

You know maybe I'm just a fanboy but I'm sick and tired of people calling the phone ugly, like how many black square slabs do you have to see before you've had enough? I for one am for the new look, I like the ergonomic nature look of it. Sure it didn't blow me away but it's growing on me with every picture and video I see. Oh and for people complaining about TW I really think Samsung focused on the right area for the phone, it's software rather than it's hardware. I mean let's be serious a dual-core S4 would be enough computing power for any smartphone, couple that with LTE and I for one do not care if I get the Quadcore Exynos or the S4. Sure I'd rather have the Exynos Quad and coming from an at&t SGSII I know the power of the Exynos, but I think it's time companies focus on making the phones run better with more features than just beefing up the specs.

+another 1. The only reasons I'm not going to get this phone is #1, I don't have an upgrade and I can wait until S4 when that upgrade comes around, and #2, the phone is too big for me. My S2 is already pushing the size limit for me, I love the large HD screen but the fact that the whole phone is bigger than my current one means it's too big for my pocket and my personal taste. I was pretty happy with everything else they included hardware-wise, and very pleasantly surprised by all the new software features, especially because I happen to be a fan of stock TW.
Ehhhhh..... I am the biggest Samsung fanboy ever..... This phone is pretty ugly.... The screen looks alright, the back looks more generic than the Vibrant.... Overall it's ugly compared to the OneX. Average user won't tell but the display in the OneX is nicer than the pentile crap....
Clear cut instances of a company on top has nothing to prove.... Therefore puts out whatever it wants and we accept it as the best. On the other hand a company that was once great fell real hard and now strives to redeem itself.... and did it well. Kudos to HTC.... Samsung will win next time.

Looking at upgrades - SGN or SGS3

I have been looking at upgrades to my SGS2, and I am a bit torn between the two phones - Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy S III (AT&T).
Looking at the stats, there is very little difference, and the Nexus is about half the price for an unlocked one straight from Google.
Battery life should be close, but the specs all show a much lower number then I would expect, so I am guessing that it is from the quad core version, and not the US version.
Has anyone done a comparison? I have been looking and always end up with the Quad core version rather then the Dual core one for the US.
The Nexus isn't an upgrade from the S2, it's a sidegrade at best (and possibly even a downgrade depending on what's important to you in a smart phone).
I've been having the same trouble . It just seems like the SGS3 is a better choice. Also the SGN isn't LTE and the SGS3 is.
According to your question it's undoubtedly the Samsung galaxy S3
but on the other hand if you are a pure android fan and want fast updates from google then it's definitely the Galaxy Nexus...
I would say that the SGS3 would be the better one unless you want pure Android.
i would say wait for the next nexus phone with lte capabilities..that's gonna be my next smartphone maybe, want pure android not pure bloatware from carriers and delayed updates

As much as you would hate this... I'll say waite.
There is nothing wrong with the SGSII. Its freaking awesome, and for me, it's even better than the G Nexus.
As for the SGS3, Android as for now, is in no need of 4 cores, specially samsung ones that are a brand new technology that is still in developement. Even Tegra 3 are equaled in performance by S4 dual core chips, while consuming less power. (as seen on One X series)
I bet around fall we will see a new and decent Nexus device, that i say its worth the waite.

IMO, the only reason to pick a Galaxy Nexus over any other phone is because you want quicker updates. It has nothing else over any other device, imo.
I too am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have 1 line available for an upgrade now and another on Aug. 1st. Problem is my SGS2s work perfectly and even though the S3 has some nice features (zero shutter lag for one). It does not feel like enough of an upgrade harware wise. The GNexus is pretty much on par with the S2 except a slightly larger screen size and NO removable sdcard. So I decided to just wait. But my daughters handed down SGS1 Cappy sdcard just failed a few days ago. She was runing it with CM7 still and liked it. So since I am STUCK with having to get a new phone my dilema is this. Get the SGS3 and hand down my SGS2? Get the Gnex from the play store which I like the updates available but give it to her, then I STILL have 1 phone available for upgrade and another soon so IF something better comes along I can jump on it. OR third choice get a SGS2 I777 for her and waste one upgrade. Decisions decisions...

That middle option sounds good to me. It'd be nice to have an upgrade available late in the year or early 2013 when new phones start coming out...
Wait for the Next Nexus that will hopefully come out in the fall/winter season.

That's what I'm edging towards with my upgrade. I was considering selling my SGSII and buying the GNex in order to have the upgrade available for the next batch of phones (Krait Quads) or just wait until then with my SGSII although I would be able to sell if for much less at that time.
SGSII is such a great phone but seeing the SGSIII, that screen is just making me so tempted to upgrade. I'm a sucker for bigger screens with better res. Someone smack the temptation out of me!

Well... Give your daughter the SGS2 and get a SGS3 or One X. And you'll have the extra upgrade to get any of the phones coming later this year.

Now when you say s3, att crap or real, int s3? Because if att one, id say stick to s2 or maybe Note.

IMO, the only reason to pick a Galaxy Nexus over any other phone is because you want quicker updates. It has nothing else over any other device, imo.

Well I know that the idea of getting updates quicker is what is would seem, but in reality, that is not the case. The Nexus models may be a Google phone, but they still have to go through the carrier to get updates.
I think that although a new phone may be nice, many of you are right that the S2 is an amazing phone, and should be good for a while. As far as the comment about no need for Quad cores, I thought the same thing when I got my Eris, and thought it was lighting fast... until the new apps came out and then the phone ran like a slug, even rooted and modded.
The software will push the hardware limits at all times, so if new hardware comes out, software will start to use it, which means that eventually the old ones just don't work right. This is the bane of technology. I also have an iPad, and as of later this year I am out of luck and will not get any software updates before iOS 6 won't install on it. (But that is whole different conversation)
Looking at the specs between the two on phone arena is actually funny, since they are both SO close. I have worked in computers for long enough that I know that a .2 or .3 different in CPU speed, isn't going to make or break a difference. Memory, Cores, and Storage tend to make the biggest difference.

Note vs Note2

First time I've been in the 'Note' section. I'm up for an upgrade with AT&T [have an Atrix right now], and just wondering how everyone here likes their Note? I browsed around, and it seem development has come along nicely and people have good stable versions of CM9 running on the Note. If you have a second, would love to hear what you like and dislike about it. Trying to decide whether to get the Note now, or wait for the Note2 to come out, or possibly go with something else.
Any thoughts welcome and appreciated!
Thanks
-Josh-
I feel like that is hard to say because it's like would you like a 2008 car or the same car 2012 model you know? Especially since it hasn't come out yet or the specifications have not been announced (as far as I know). I hear that they should be announcing it towards the end of August but who knows when it will come out after that and if it will be the International version or AT&T version. Tough decisions.
Like:
-Screen size (I don't know how I would get along with an even larger screen, this one seems perfect to me)
-I actually really like our processors, Exynos sounds like it has more problems although it is a bit faster
-Our developers (I adore my phone to no end because our development section is seriously the best)
Dislikes:
-Black crush although I have not noticed it really on my personal device
-The cracks that some of the white notes have near the rocker ( I have the "blue" one)
-Call quality ugh
Hope this helps at least a little bit. I wanted the Atrix for the longest because it was the biggest phone for a little bit. Oh how times have changed.
Good luck with your decision making. PM me if you have any specific questions about the Note experience.
Ur right i dont know if i want a bigger phone ..but! The note 2 will be slimmer i love mine now so i say ill prolly buy it lol

Welcome to the "Note" section. I currently own an Atrix and a G-Note as well. I must say I still enjoy my Atrix a lot and find myself using it all the time. The Atrix works really good with CM9 and the battery life is superb so I am mostly using it strictly as an mp3 player. The DSP Manager in the CM9 rom sounds beautiful. As for the G-Note, I just can't see myself going back to a smaller screen size. Being an artist and attending comic convention I especially love the screen size to view my art on the go or use the S Pen to do a quick sketch to iron out an idea. The photos and videos are beautiful with the G-Note. Being able to attach a flash drive for sharing files or even hooking it up to a large TV to operate it like a desktop are deal breakers when compared to other competitors.
I haven't really found anything that I didn't like about the G-Note. With all the different roms floating around in the forum it's kinda hard not to find a rom to your liking. Which brings me the G-Note 2. Due to the fact that it's so new don't expect a lot of roms or support right out of the box. Though if you've never owned a G-Note then why not hold out for the latest and the greatest? I won't be eligible for an upgrade until December which is cool for me because by that time all those hard working Devs would most likely have lots of Mods and roms available to try out. And that 5.5 inch screen in the new G-Note 2 is nothing to sneeze at.
I love the note and there are a lot of great roms for it but depending on how long you want to wait it may just be worth it. The other thing is the note 2 is going to be bigger, in my opinion the note is big enough already but it's all up to you

Wait til the next version of the Note is announced to make your choice. It shouldn't be too long.
Once the gnote 2 solidifies I can address it directly. Until then I can share some observations about the existing gnote. I came directly from the captivate, which except for the abysmal gps, is still an extremely nice phone. The first thing I stress tested on the gnote was its gps. It uses both the Russian glonass and US satellites and the results are fantastic; even indoors, I can fix my position to within 9ft. Samsung clearly decided to address their previous shortcomings in this arena. The processor is responding well to extensive development and is shaping up for a very long successful run. The screen quality is to me is another major factor, I to am aware of the so called "black crush" but attribute it to pushing the still new amoled display technology to its limits. Overall, for me the graphical gains achieved outweigh this negative effect. That said, I can't but believe that Samsung, a company famous for displays, will sit still in further perfecting this promising young technology. So, if Samsung released an improved amoled tech that say, significantly reduced energy requirements while also demonstrating an enhanced resolution, then I would be sorely tempted. I do get great battery life, particularly given the humongous display but who doesn't want more? The thing is if you wait, you could get the gnote for a steal off contract, then after the gnote2 matures,if it is bug free and has some compelling technical advancements, then you can jump maybe 3-6 months into its release. That seems to me a win win but your mileage may differ. Either way, good luck with your choices whatever you decide.

Honestly, the Note is everything I've wanted in a phone. The only complaint anybody can really have about it is the minor black crush issue. And even that doesn't bug me much. Other than that I don't have a single complaint.
That being said, waiting for the Note 2 would probably be worth it at this point. The improvements won't be enough to make me upgrade early, but if you're deciding on what to buy right now I would wait it out.
Either way you'll be happy. And I wouldn't go for anything else except maybe the gs3. Samsung is absolutely killing it right now IMO.

The announcement for the Note 2 is just around the corner. Although there is a problem. Unless the new Exynos will support LTE, it will probably take longer for it to get to the states.

I see it taking the same route add the gs3, international will be different, but the USA version will release roughly the same time

Today I played with the S3. It is really fast BUT the screen seems small. Even though its only .5 smaller than the note...in my hand..it felt small. That shows that I wont be satisfied going back to a smaller screen. So Note 2 definitely for me whenever its released. Honestly, if youre not in a hurry...wait for the Note 2. If you you really want it now...get it. We just received official ICS so its still a great device.

I like my note but at this point, unless you want the stylus and pen, the GS3 or the HTC One X would probably be a better purchase.

Get the international note1 online for $200-250 and when the note 2 comes out, sell that note1 on craigslist and use the money to buy the note2 on contract for the discounted price.:fingers-crossed::victory:
for $200 where?

I'd love to know where you can get the N7000 for $200 please tell?
I have the i717 which I think is great apart from my g/f complaining she can't hear me properly during phone conversations.
I'd go for the N7000 unless you really need LTE, you get option to boost volume 'Voodoo Louder' and FM Radio and arguably better processor but not sure on that. Personally I like the look of the i717 better than the N7000.
Size wise I wouldn't get the GS3 too narrow, possibly the HTC Sensation XL but an even bigger Note is fine by me. Contemplating getting a Galaxy Tab 7.7 anyway. A Note 7.7 would be my prefect device with a quad core CPU, hopefully the Note2 will have quad core.
I just pick up a galaxay note refurbish for 200, as an early upgrade from att. It is amost impossable to find a second hand set for less than 450. The att version is still new and tmoble is getting theirs next month. Non of the quad core chip sets can process american lte so far. I would think a us note would not hit he shelf till next year. However there has yet to be a chipset named that could handle lte for the u.s. We would have heard something about this already.

I love my note. The only thing I dislike about my note is the battery door.
Coming from the Atrix to the Note the only thing I miss is the Atrix vibrate motor. The note feels like a fast buzz instead of a solid rumble.
I got an Atrix on launch day and replaced with with the Note on launch day and hated that phone each and every single day that I used it. The headphone jack stopped working, then the wifi and gps stopped as well.
I heard about the Note last summer. At that timebitbwas rumblings. I waited until February 19, sitting on my Atrix coming from the Dell Streak prior for thus magnificent phone.
I love this phone. Love it so much I bought it twice. My first one was stolen.
As great a phone this is I will get the Note 2. However wow it will literally be 6 months from the first and second releases of this phone. I'm greatful for the quality of this phone and I'm great with a bigger screen. I'm still learning about this phone. I just wonder if this is hurting the Note with such a quick turnaround of the 2.
I'm not going to lie. Ill get it lol.
The Noteworthy Note. Running OBJECTION rc1 UCLF5 / h0tw1r3's r4 OC.
I'm definitely waiting for the new Note. I do have the original, but to think that it could be bigger, slimmer and come with Jelly Bean. I... am going crazy lol.

Haha. You know .5 inches is actually an extremely massive difference right? It's not a linear progression. It even looks bigger because its 16:10 and wider.
Uh, people here need to stop saying its gonna be bigger. The SCREEN will be longer by .2" in the diagonal, but the overall phone size will stay the same, and might even get smaller. Definitely slimmer. The 4.8" SIII has similar dimensions to older 4.5" 16:10 phones with thicker bezels. There are many other examples... The key here is the change in aspect ratio, from 16:10 to 16:9. It'll probably have the same screen width, although I don't have any numbers handy.
Yeah there'll plenty of $200-250 notes on ebay. They usually say CRACKED and SOLD FOR PARTS ONLY. You can get a used one in the low $400s. A new one for >$450. Expansys-USA has the cheapest retail price I've seen for a non-eBay semi-trustable site at $520. Plenty of testimony about them helping out with warranties as well floating around xda.
Be aware that this so called "around the corner" is in fact the IFA tradeshow in Berlin on August 31. That will be for the international note 2. It's expected to come out in October in international markets, not the USA. Who knows when it will arrive stateside? The original note didn't even come out on AT&T til January, and was released internationally in October as well. An Optimistic guess would be before the holiday season, a good 4-5 months away. It's not an iPhone competitor so won't have to rush to market like the GS3.
Can you wait 4-5 months, or maybe even until Jan 2013 for the Note 2?
