[Q] Case that Accomodates KB Dock - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

Anybody know of a case that allows you to put the Transformer into the KB dock without taking it out of the case?

I got this sleeve today. Unfortunately, wont know for sure until the dock order fills and gets to be, but has roughly x3 thickness of the tablet availabile, plus a bit more at the top.. so unless the keyboard is more than twice the thickness of the dock, i think it will be good. Granted this is a sleeve, because i bag it with my laptop.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/SwissGear-Lunar-10.2-Sleeve-Black/14964986
Let me know if you want a pic of it open so you can see the tablet inside.

*read the question totally wrong*

any netbook case should work. Now, the transformer is a little wider than a typical netbook so you may want to actually bring it with you to test out. just to make sure.
but basically with the keyboard dock it's about the same size as an eee netbook, so i'd say 80-90% of netbook cases should work just fine.
may not be what your looking for but i'm buying this: http://www.amazon.com/CaseCrown-Ver...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1303933662&sr=1-1

Guys, he's asking if there's a sleeve you can put the tablet into, THEN put the whole thing into the keyboard dock.
( Transformer --> sleeve ) --> keyboard dock
I doubt any would work, due to the fit of the tablet into the dock receiver. A sleeve would have to have a pretty large cutout to accommodate that.

Cases?....

I recently got this tablet, and purchased a leather type of case (the kind you can fold back to prop it up...here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CaseCrown-Bold-Standby-Case-Asus-Transformer-Pad-BK-/180690088957?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item2a11f7f3fd)...
and now I am thinking that I may like something else better like perhaps a sleeve or a carrying case of some sort, but I do not want anything big or bulky because I picture that I will put it inside of my backpack anyways....
for example, I was currently thinking of one of these, or a variation of...

I figured the extra pouches can serve as a spot to hold the charger and whatever else accessories I happen to have at the time..
Please give me your opinions and recommendations, I am open to all..
I am also considering the sleeve, I simply want something cheap to protect the device some when I put it inside a suitcase/backpack. Wonder if anyone used these?
I use the Case Logic VNA214 14.1 inch attache, and the AYL Leather Cover Case Folio for Asus Eee Pad Transformer from Amazon.com.
(sorry there are no links, I haven't posted enough yet)
The bag is perfect, holds everything i need with the TF: Bluetooth mouse, charger for TF, charger for phone. Keyboard dock (even when not in use), head phones, notebooks, etc. Main thing I like about the case is that it let's the transformer sit a tad higher so it can use the charger while standing up.
Hope this helps!

My I ask why you bought the VNA214 instead of the VN210 (10 inch) ?
Is VNA214 (14 inch) not to big for it ?
I just ordered a Sling-bag and a sleeve for under $20 USD shipped
Portable Soft Protect Cloth Cover Case Sleeve Bag Pouch for 10" Tablet PC MID
from - ebay for $3.15 free shipping
Kensington iPad Sling Bag - Black
from - ebay for $15.99 free shipping
I can't post links yet but if u copy/paste them in ebay search they should come up easily.

I wanted a bigger bag. But the reviews I read on the 10 say the 10 fits the TF just fine. And the 14 fits with room to spare, without seeming to big. I didn't want the 10 because I felt it would be too small for everything I wanted to carry with me, and I felt it might appear as a man purse, which is definitely not my thing! But it would work, I am sure, for a sleeve type replacement.

Best case for in a backpack w/ dock

So I am a student, and I'm always walking around with a backpack full of books. I want to carry my transformer and its dock with me so I can do some on the fly word processing between classes when I get a chance, but I'm worried about the weight of my books being pressed against the dock, being pressed against the tablet in the case.
So, does anyone know of a good, hard, case that will fit the dock and the tab? I looked through the sticky and didn't seem to find anything that wasn't discontinued (unless I missed it??).
Thanks a lot!

Smith
I have the same conditions in my bag due to my classes.. I don't use a hard case but these:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...oocase+super+bubble+neoprene+sleeve+case+10.1
work super good and are only like 15 bucks.. the bubbles on the inside are super cushiony.. I don't even worry when its in there.
That's dope! If I may ask, how do you situate your tab in your backpack? Front, back,? And do you face your screen to your keyboard dock or away?

I carry mine in my backpack with no issues. I wanted one that would encase the tablet AND the dock. In my opinion, this one is the most practical if you are almost always using the dock anyway.
Well, since I can't put a link in a reply yet; go to amazon and look up: "Poetic(TM) 2in1 Ultra Light Leather Case for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer"
Hope this helps!

I use this for with the dock. There's also a more expensive blue one, I wish they had a green.. but I got the red because it's cheap and worth the cost!
I am using the malina case made for Mac Air 11. Fit perfectly.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Targus-CityGear-Mini-for-iPad-Tablet-Netbook/16480776
I ran across this one at Walmart. Fits perfectly while docked or not, and is very well cushioned. It has a good amount of room, allowing me to carry my adapter, phone charger, Jambox, and ZaggSparq. For $25, it's a pretty good deal.
yes its very nice

Has anyone used the Targus Spruce Mini Messenger?

This thing: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0046SNNRY/.
I have a rooCase coming in next week, but I'm looking for something else for extra padding when I'm traveling and to carry accessories with the tablet.
It looks like this Targus bag should be about the right size, but I was wanting to make sure.
Yes I have one. I got mine at target for around 24 bucks. It is a perfect fit. I imagine the keyboard will fit in the other compartment perfectly but i have no keyboard.
The inside pocket might seem to small but it is very soft and it doesn't take long to stretch making a very snug fit.
It holds my prime and 2 chargers. I don't have a need to carry more but there is room for it.
I 100% recommend this bag.
Yeah, I saw it at Target a couple of hours ago for that price, which is why I asked. Thanks for the review!
I have it as well and second the perfect fit. When the dock is attached to the tablet it fits next to the inside pocket. When their separate, the tablet fits in the pocket and the dock fits right next to it. The padding is soft and not excessive. I included some pics for you. There's also room for the charger in the outside pocket and of course a cloth for the fingerprints.
I also paid 24.00 at Target but couldn't find online for that price. I 100% recommend
I almost bought it several times in the month ( felt like months) wile my prime was preordered. Then my wife bought me one for Christmas though I still had a bit of a wait. It is perfect for travel. It feels like it was made for the prime.
I picked up this at Best buy. Had some rewards points that needed to be used
http://www.amazon.com/Targus-CityGe...1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1326572391&sr=1-1-catcorr
It fits it well and it has the two compartments which fit it nicely if I detach the keyboard they can both be separated and protected if I choose or it fits fine as one piece. It has extra pockets on the inside for my mouse, cables and charger.

I got this one. It looks exactly the same but the two compartments are supposedly a little bigger than the one you posted. Yours is the TSM148US while mine is the TSM097US. It's a little cheaper too.

Perfect for my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and its keyboard dock, June 8, 2011
By L. Paquin (San Francisco, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Targus CityGear Netbook Case for up to 10.2 Inch Netbooks- Black and Grey TSM097CA (Personal Computers)
I have been looking around to find a good mean to carry my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet around and its Keyboard/Docking Station but not necessarily always docked. Most netbook carrying bag only have one padded compartment to put the netbook. I was looking for one which had two sections so that I can leave them undocked to quickly pull the tablet alone quickly (as opposed to pull the docked tablet, undock and then put the keyboard back in the bag).
Last weekend, I brought my Transformer and the keyboard dock and went shopping around for that perfect bag. I found the Targus CityGear Mini (TSM148US) and tried it. The form factor was definitively what I was looking for but one of sub-sections was a little tight. I still decided that it would work for me and that it might strech a little over time. Then, when I looked on Amazon, I saw that there was this model, the Targus CityGear Netbook Case for up to 10.2 Inch Netbooks (TSM097US), which had pretty much the same specs but was cheaper (always a good thing). So, I decided to try it.
I received today and quickly opened it. It is pretty much the same as the one I tried last weekend but the two sub-compartments are bigger. So, no need to strech them and they work out of the box. It is a great way to carry my tablet docked or not to the keyboard. The side pockets of the bag also offer enouch space to carry the charger (it is pretty small anyway) and also my Arkon Portable Fold-Up Stand (great stand for this tablet BTW).
So, all-in-all, I highly recommend this tablet. I had been searching for recommendations for the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and did not find anything that stroke me. This is why I thought of writting this detailed review (and I will post pictures) for my fellow Transformer owners!

This case looks pretty cool. How much storage space is there in the other slot? Is it enough to carry say a mouse, charger, and sixaxis?
I bought this one.

It works for the most part just will for a little more pocket space in the other spots.

Docks for tf201, 300, 700

I remember reading that the docks would work with all 3 devices... The pictures of the 300 apear to have its "own" dock, which looks like the same dock just a new color.
Any info on if the docks work with all 3 devices or not?
i think the docks are incompatible...
can't speak for 700, since it's not out yet.
But the tablets and docks are interchangeable between 300 and 201
(Prime on 300 dock, TF300 on prime dock). Since Tf300 is a bit thicker it feels a little tight on prime's tablets, but it's clicked on and very stable. Prime on 300 docks on the other hand feels like a perfect fit, but you do feel like it's looser when opening/closing the lid.
I see no reason why tf700 won't fit on either keyboard docks.
wont work. each dock it fitted properly to its mated tablet. a prime could fit in a 300 dock but wouldn't be a tight fit and will lead to it breaking. a 300 wont fit in prime dock because its too thick.

OK.....so it seems we still dont agree on an answer....
This is just pure speculation, but after watching a number of videos from the MWC on the 700, the dock looks identical. Of course the keys had a bunch of crazy letters over the English counterparts, but from the LOOKS of it, the 700 and 201 docks looked identical. But like I said it's just pure speculation....and hope...lol
Anandtech wrote something about it.

it feels a bit tight, but everything works just fine.
The only thing is the latch (switch on the prime dock won't go all the way to the right when the tablet is attached, but it is in fact properly clipped on)

could you please test tf300 wifi signal range or side by side with the tf201.
thank you.

best solution is to get the matching dock to whatever tablet you have. because believe if you crack your screen or mess up your port from not using a matching dock, asus wont cover it and itll be user induced damage. asus doesnt suppoert cross device docks. if it were like that they would just make one then.
like anandtech said, you can fit a prime in a 300 dock but its not a tight fit and will be wobbly and lead to breaking. same for 300 in prime dock. it will be too tight. leading to easily stressing the screen and port. also chance for the hinge to crack.
people need to stop looking for some cheap shortcut and get the matching, appropriate dock. then you have firmware issues for the dock to worry about. they are not all going to be the same likely.
moral of the story, get the matching dock you've been warned...lol

i know that. that wasn't what i meant. i meant by trying to use another tablet dock with a different tablet. why do you think Asus makes a dock for each particular type of tablet? if asus wanted cross device docks, they would've just made one particular universal one. each dock is properly made for the matching tablet. not meant to use a prime dock on a 300 or vice versa.

I agree, ASUS is going to expect you to use matching parts. However, people like to accessorize and they should have indeed made just one dock with multiple colors and kept the different Transformer iterations closer to the same sizes.
Plus, I wouldn't mind having both a Prime and Infinity, and it would be nice to be able to just use the one dock as I want as opposed to pretty much having two touch-screen netbooks. There's no real need or point, and I'm most certainly a minority in the market, but still would be that much cooler.
Last I heard was that the 700 and 201 docks were supposed to be the same.
As for the 201 with a 300 dock, I was thinking that I might want mismatched colors (Champagne/Red or Champagne/Blue), but it's not worth it for 1) less battery life and 2) improper fit.

Dock difference

Am just wonder if each dock matches each model or all the docks are universal cause all the TF have the same form factor and designs.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2
each tablet has a matching model dock. there is no universal dock. all devices are slightly different in dimensions. only by the dock that matches your model tablet. ex. prime aka tf201 only should use a dock made for tf201

ah, ok reason i ask is cause best buy had TF101 dock on sale was wondering if i should waste my time and buy one to see if it works i guess its all program in the dock then, sucks wish there was a universal one
there have been reports the 201 can fit in the 301 dock but its a loose fit (so if you have screen protectors AND a protector over the back it might be a good fit), the 300 MAY fit in the 201 dock but it would be very tight (as the 300 is slightly thicker)
The mech in the 101 and 201 is different, unless you opened the dock and removed the locking mech theres no way to get the 201 to fit in the 101 dock. period.
This whole "issue" with the dock not fitting universally is perfect proof that you can't please everyone. If asus made the dimensions of every transformer model the same, then people would cry bloody murder. If asus made improvements in the design by making the later models differently dimension wise, then people would ***** to no avail at how they can't use the old dock on the new tablet.
On another forum, one guy even went as far as saying he will never buy anything asus ever again because he couldn't fit his prime in the tf101 dock and he thought this was a design flaw.
well the 300 could probably fit in the 200 dock if you removed the felt padding... thats what i had to do for my prime because of the screen protector and back protector i have, it does not have the cutouts on it.
And the prime can fit in the 300 dock, its just loose.
Overall Asus DID keep similar sizes however the plastic has to be thicker for structural reasons otherwise the tablet would warp too badly. And the 201 is rediculiously thin as it is, at least they are keeping the dock connector the same so accessories should work across the board.
Anyone try a GPS dongle in a 300 yet?

likely wont work because it doesn't have the software on the 300 to support it. plus the dongle is a tighter fit than 201 dock. probably wont fit unless you mash it in there. might crush the glass since it'll be so tight.
