[Q] How to link contact to Facebook without modify contact name - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to link contact to Facebook without modify contact name?
For example
Contact name: Pet M.
Pet's facebook name: Pet Rbeliouz
After I link Pet M. to his facebook
Contact name in Atrix was change to Pet Rbeliouz.
It make me confuses when I want to call to Pet.

I can also confirm that FB names display for linked contacts even if you edit the contact. It is a bit annoying.

I mean that you are correct and there does not appear to be a way to resolve other than to unlink the contacts.

[Q] Changing From Field in Email

Whenever I send an email from my phone, my username is all that comes up in the From field. I really want to replace that with my name, but can't find the setting anywhere! If I change Account Name, it does nothing, it's simply a label for me to see which inbox etc I'm in.
How do I edit the Name the email says it is from?
In Account Settings you have Account Name, Your Name, Added Signature and Signature. You should be able to alert ever info in these settings.

When I go to account Settings, I've only got Account Name, Add Signature, Signature, Default Account, Always CC/BCC Myself.
So no one else is ever having this issue?
My email comes up as sent from Abbaskip ([email protected]), rather than:
sent from John Jones ([email protected])
There is no field in the email app to change my name.

Me too, I have the same problem using exchange activesync for hotmail. You too or something different? Because other POP3 account on my phone has the Your Name option...

Yeah hotmail exchange with push. Quite annoying. And it doesn't happen on my tablet
use this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hotmail.Z7 official hotmail app, it's similar and has a widget

Contacts problem

So I have contacts from facebook (I only add people I know). Some of these contacts have the peoples number and some don't. I can't edit a facebook contact it says to add a number. So instead I have a facebook contact and a phone contact with the exact same name but with the number. How can I merge these? I'm sure I'm not alone on this.
Open the phone number contact. Hit menu, edit, menu again, then join.

Nice, but I have 763 contacts!

I hear you..as far as I know that's the only way to do it unless your contact names are are listed exactly the same as the Facebook names.

I found out you can merge them when you sign into your Gmail account on the computer

This is what I did. It's a pain, and yeah, you have to have your contact's name be the same as their Facebook name. It's a real PITA when somebody wants to use a clever nickname and you just want their real name.
Ultimately, it's a choice between, don't sync, or sync and have a mess, or sync and merge and deal with the compromise.

Facebook contacts pics

I have an xt910 running on the latest EU version and I am facing a problem. I have some of my contacts linked with their Facebook so their photo shows when they call me. The first time I linked them everything was ok and their pics was shown correctly. But when someone updated their pic it showed it as blanc. Now none of my contacts has a pic displayed regardless if it is a simple Facebook contact or a linked one. I have the latest Facebook app from the market. I think it has something to do with the folder which the Android stores those pics and I want to delete it to see if it will force the update. Does anyone knows where they are stored or has any suggestions about the matter;

It was easy to force update of Facebook contacts on wp7.. Not so easy on Android..
I'm interested in a way to force it besides using an app which is free on goggler play, which messed up my contacts by attaching the wrong image to the wrong person..
Sorry, this is my first Android phone.. Previously on wp7, blackberry and Nokia 5800..

Go into config/aplications/manage apps/... and clear the contacts app cache, this may solve the black pics.
Thanks

I just cleared data for anything with "contacts" in the name, and your contacts will resync.
I have Facebook and friend caster pro installed. Friend caster syncs HQ pics when setup correctly and has kept them up to date for me.

Contact pictures, broken up images

I was wondering why the pictures of my contacts look like dots. It's like the image is broken up into dots, anyone else experience this?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
That's just how they are if you don't have the contact linked to a social networking profile or choose your own picture from the gallery.

That is when the sync picture resolution is not big enough to prevent the picture blurr. That is why I think they use dots to display it.
hey bro i had the same problem... if u transferred the contact from a different phone by HTC transfer tool, this what u will get............
best solution is change your contact to gmail account (no more on phone) and change the contact pictures that u want with pictures from gallery for one time (i know its sucks).... also if u have some of ur contact linked to facebook, that should update ur friend pictures without dots
Actually, there are issues with gmail as well. Check out this long thread over at Adroidcentral about the issue:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one/270273-contact-picture-issue.html
I setup all my contacts on gmail.com and uploaded hi res images (some 3000x3000!) and they still show up dots. I'm just living with it right now until I get the urge to move all my contact photos locally to the phone.

here's what I did
open the contact touch the picture it gets larger with a setting in the bottom right corner. Choose that and then from the choices choose phone and the picture cleared right up. Did not work with every picture so I deleted those and got new one's from gallery / facebook or where ever.

[Q] I need a *good* email application with working filters

Hey guys
I need help finding an app. First off, I will more than happily pay for one that does what I need.
I need:
Multiple email accounts
Being able to filter a specific distribution list to not notify me. I get other emails from that email that I need to be notified when they come in. I just need one distro list silenced
Different notifications for specific senders would be awesome
Please let me know if such an app exists.
Anyone?

I had similar requirements but haven't found anything.
So I gave up and just set up redirect to single Gmail account with filters.

Its for work so I can't redirect. Well I c a n but that would be worse.
I just have this one dl that emails me a bunch of stuff I don't care about. But I get emergency emails to that same email address. If I turn off alerts I could miss something important.
