just follow the first instruction the updated one and root it and install custom recovery |hands on to your custom rom|z4root does not work on 2.2.2 so no use trying just follow the updated instruction orelse if it doesnt work then u may try downgrading and then root

If you want to downgrade just to get rooted, use this new rooting app.

It works with 2.2.1 and 2.2.2

You can't change the rom until someone finds a way to root that firmware, or unless you downgrade your firmware to a previous version.

Nope.
I had v10n and z4root failed to root it. I flashed my phone with v10b using KDZ updater and then z4root worked. Here you will find the tutorial. Make sure you also have LG drivers installed.
Good luck!

[Q] SuperOneClick on X10i now Gingerbread

Olá,
I'm having a problem rooting the X10i, since it was upgraded to Gingerbread. I had installed the latest version of SuperOneClick, and I'm doing just as it says The Unlockr step-by-step on Youtube. Had also sellected the exploit option "Gingerbreak". Still, when it gets to step 6, the program stucks.
Hope somebody can give me a hand on this issue, using the SuperOneClick or indicating another program.
Thank you very much!
you can try to use flashtool for X10, hope can help you!
I'll try it.
Thanks for your help! =)

if you just upgraded your phone from 2.1 to stock sony 2.3 GB upgrade then it cannot be rooted even with flash tool or super 1 click.
What you can do is to actually down grade your phone to 2.1 first.
Download flash tool and also download the firmware 2.1 version.
from the below link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Once u download the firmware, place that .ftf file in the firmware folder of your flash tool.
Now flash the phone to 2.1, use the below link if you dont know how to flash it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Now once ur phone is 2.1, just root it and install xrecovery.
now you can install any of the 2.3 ROM available in the development section and all these ROMs are pre rooted and recovery installed.
PM me if u need any help.
THKS!
Thank you very much, runaway_bunny!
Right now, I'm having no time, but as soon as possible, I'll try it and let you know if it worked.
See you soon, and thanks again!

Nope only way to root is flash a pre rooted zip and like 4.4.4 there wont most probably be any other way to root. So yes you will have to downgrade to 4.4.2-->Root-->Install Recovey-->Flash pre rooted 5.0
