Hi all,
My Tbolt is rooted. But when I try to install an app its rejected because its says my phone is not rooted.
It's there an app that's I can down load and have it verify my phone if indeed rooted?
Much appreciated.

You can just download an app on the market called "root checker", but if you are not able to use root apps you might have messed up somewhere and will have to redo the process.
Did you root manually or use one of the other programs?
Hi
I did it manually....
But not sure if this unrooted problem started after I did new ruu update.
Manual rooted method.
Update. Just install root checker n it show I have no root access. Wtf...
My phone has been rooted for at least 1 month now.without any issue. Damn... Must be be the new RUU.
Thanks for your quick respond.

Pro-tip you can also just open up the terminal emulator and type in "su" and hit enter. If the doallar sign changes to a hash you have root.

there are at least two versions of the update RUU floating around. from the two that jcase posted in the the development section, one keeps root and s-off and the other returns the phone to complete stock with s-on.
maybe you flashed the wrong one?
try going into ROM MANAGER and click on Fix Permission..see if that may help

No, there is not. The current root method requires a downgrade RUU to obtain root. I recommend you head over to Developer section and use the root method posted by jcase.
OK thanks geuss I'll keep messing with adb to see if I can get it to work right

dude be more specific
Its common for OTAs to remove root access. Sometimes root can be preserved using OTA Rootkeeper, but it would have to be installed before installing the OTA. Check in the forums for your phone to see how to root it. Its also possible the OTA patched the root exploit that you used before.

You'd better find the appropriate forum on XDA for the phone and try to revert to a pre-OTA version. How did you verify that you've lost root, have you tried a terminal emulator and SU into root to verify?
More details will probably be most helpful
I have lg marqee, got update from sprint that took away root

How did you confirm that it didn't work? Device status "Modified" after using ExynosAbuse usually means it worked. I would try to install Titanium backup (Tibu) or some other program that requires root and if it works then you know you have root.
If you have root use Tibu to freeze SDM 1.0 to keep the update from happening if you want to use the first developer created method to unlock your boot loader so that you can flash ROMs. You can use the later new method to unlock the boot loader if you accept the update.
I have titanium back up but it says I dont have root access... basically what im wanting to know is, is it okay it try another root method even though it says my device is modified...

I unlocked the phone using rumrunner, and then loaded cwm recovery. I then installed the superuser, and it appears to succeed. Then I checked root with root checker and it said sorry you don't have proper root. I have checked my steps again and again, but am still pretty new to htc.

are you s-off?
what version of SuperSu did you flash? What Rom are you running? The latest SuperSU 1.94? Doesn't work for 4.2.2. If your S-off why and have CWM recovery why not flash a custom rom?
I am trying to do just that. I can't really find any up to date info to help me step by step, so I am piecing together the newest info I can find. I am a little confused right now. Stuck on trying to root. I flashed superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip

Do I need to root to load a custom rom? Is s-off =root on htc? I guess I have deleted everything off the phone and now it is stuck at the white htc screen. I can get to recovery but did not perform any backups. I can get to bootloader and recovery and I guess need to sideload a rom. I haven't had time the last few days to try anything new. Thanks for the input, I need to fix my dna so I can get off of this note 2 I don't like. I don't understand why htc doesn't sell better.... my dna was the **** before I ruined it!
S-off is secure flag removed meaning you can install unsigned firmware (eng hboot) unlocked means you can write to system partition and other secure partitions. Root means you have an app (like supersu) able to have other apps execute admin (root for Linux) commands. If you have cwm installed, just side load a pre rooted Rom from development sections.

Thanks, I will try the sideload. Any ideas where I can find such a rom. Oh wait I think I s-on ed trying to fix it.... will I still be able to fast boot USB and unlock again for s-off? I sure hope so.

I've received a message for a software update. When I attempt to install it using the <About Device_Software Update>, I get a pop-up saying my device has an unauthorized update installed. Use Samsung Kies to install new update.
Anyone else getting this error?

Can we use Kies to install the update with Root or do we have to flash back to Stock first?

It's not an error. Rooted devices don't get OTA's

You can use Kies to flash, or download the .tar file and flash via Odin...that way you don't lose your app data.
Once you flash the new update via Odin, just re-root using CF-Auto-Root

If you have G900TUVU1ANCH that is the newest available version.
I don't think everyone got this update from G900TUVU1ANCD right away.
Probably just a delayed update to that.
That one should be available through samfirmware.com
Ya I am on that version but I got a ota notice last night but couldn't take it because I am rooted

That's strange
I'm not rooted and says I'm up to date when I check.
Not sure what that would be then. Either that or a glitch in the matrix.
Mine says it's been modified in an unauthorized way, even though it's practically bone stock. The only thing I can think of is I have developers menu unlocked. Any ideas?

I'm not rooted, but I did turn on ART. I changed back to original, still custom status Turned off Dev Mode (even though the application is still there) and still no luck. Restarted multiple times.
What is ART? If I may ask
