That was my first time, but door explorer doesn't allow the movement of system files with root control, ie r/wpa_supplicant doesn't work

Rather than using Root Explorer, I would like to have full root access to the file system via USB, so I can do my file management through the PC.
Is this possible?
You could try Droid Explorer, I haven't been able to yet since it started giving me low memory errors on startup, but it might work for the Atrix.
Ideally, I would want to use my own file manager. I guess that's not really a viable choice at the moment, I take it?
When I plug my phone in to my computer is shows that it is charging, but I cannot access the SD card or get usb debugging. Neither the phone or the computer even recognize that something is plugged in. I have always used this same computer when working on my phone, and I tried 3 different cables, all with no luck. Help?
Have you tried install nexus drivers....it's the only thing other then the generic samsung drivers I've ever heard work. and don't forget to reboot your pc after installing them.

I turned the phone off, pulled the battery and let it sit, rebooted the computer as well (thank you moss). Now the phone and computer detect each other, but adb see's nothing.
All I want is the accurate battery mod....
Could I put it on my sd card and use terminal from there to do it?
something like
adb push sdcard/framework_res.apk system/framework
??
EDIT: yes, I do have debugging enabled
I just used root explorer and moved it.
All is good
I'm having the same issues and have been using root explorer to do everything but I'd like to figure out this USB issue.
Want to do file transfer between your TP and computer without USB?
Here is the ICS wifi file transfer app
Airdroid
File expert for root access
Ive always just used File Expert even on CM7. Its pretty easy to set up a Windows file share over wifi.

Or you can just turn on MTP in settings and plug in like usual.

Yes you can use mtp unless you have a win xp system like mine. I have an Acer aspire with win xp sp3. I have tried all the fixes posted as well as modifying the inf files but cannot get mtp mode to work. Airdroid works just fine and it is a small issue to work around. I love ICS on my TP and I am sure the small things will get ironed out in time. Everyone involved in this work has done a great job and I see great things to come for this dead device.

This app is still great if you don't want to have to mess around with pluging it into your Pc I will give it a try thanks !
Samba File sharing (on the market) works fine, you can then map your TouchPad as a network drive in windows (makes it easy to put stuff on it, take stuff of) Just install it, set a password, and enable the share, and then map a drive using the info on the screen. Super easy. (Needs root and working SU)
If you install the Bricks kernal, you can use CIFS manager or Mount Manager to map a network drive to the TP, which allows you to then access files directly over WiFi without having to copy them to the TP first (a normal network share). I found it finicky to get set up, but was able to access my Windows SBS server and Win 7 systems.
Moshe5368 have you tried enabling mtp and disabling debugging? I'm using winxp and that's how I got it working.

Solved problem already. What I did:
-Installed rootexplorer
-Installed xRec3-GB-Ready by copying stuff to root /
-used xrec to install former miui rom
Got Miui back and usb works again haven't tested the flash mode yet.. hope I wont be needing that.
---------------
Hello,
Considering my X10i phone. I've had the miui-cobrato ROM installed for about a year when my GPS started acting weird. To solve this problem I used PC Companion to reflash my phone to the stock 2.3.3 rom and thus GPS worked again. Today I tried to root this version using flashtool. Flashtool did indeed root my phone, however, since rooting, the usb connection has been unavailable. With this i mean that I can charge, but can no longer make a data connection. Neither sides (PC nor phone) detects the other one. Even when booting with the back-button pressed nothing shows up in device-manager under windows or lsusb under linux.
I now rember seeing some warning about MTP mode which i had ignored earlier. Could this have be the culprit? Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Using the terminal emulator and 'lsmod' I could see only one module loaded "ar6000". Perhaps I should load some USB module. I'm assuming this is integrated in the kernel, but you never know

Ready by copying stuff to root what did you mean i have the same ....USB connection broken
You'll have to download the xrecovery for x10 from xda and somehow get it on your phone. I just used my wifi for that. Next I used file explorer to copy the contents of the zip file to my root directory. This in turn installed xrec so I could install the custom rom I still had on my memory card.
Search for xrecovery 3.0 GB ready. This is the version I used for my stock 2.3.3 system.

To explain it simply,
My extSDCard used to have 2 folders once upon a time. Then I connected the phone to windows. Then unplug it.
Now I have renamed one of the folders from 'Pictures' to 'Pics'. And I add one extra folder with 2 GB of Data in it. This is done using Root Explorer Android App.
Now I connect the phone to windows PC. Windows still shows the original 2 folders [with one of the folders still named Pictures] and does not show the new 3rd folder, but only shows a reduction in available memory space.
What is happening!!!? Running Latest CM10.1 Nightly with Siyah Kernel.
Not sure how this problem started - I reckon its got something to do with Root Explorer. Not sure though.
You should provide a screenshot of the folder in root explorer and again in windows

I have had that kinda problem, don't know, but I figured out how to fix it, at least temporarily and partially, I think that's something related to MTP.
Try reboot your phone several times should help, or run media scan .
Another way to avoid this is use ADB commands to push and pull files will not not encounter this problem as far as I can tell

Yeah if i restart loads of times and then connect it to the PC, then the filesystem on the PC shows the updated android filesystem. But if I disconnect and make any more changes, then the same problems again...
