[Q] Superclean slow to respond to unlock - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed Superclean 2.9.2 non-voodoo last night with the help of some guys in the IRC, and now when I wake the phone up, it doesn't respond to the unlock swipe. It times out, goes back to sleep, and if I wake it up right after, it will respond to the unlock swipe.
Is this the "lag" part that the voodoo lagfix is supposed to address?
Anyone know what's going on here, and how I can fix it?

I don't think I've ever heard of someone having a problem like that. The only suggestion I can make is to try a different ROM. Superclean 2.9.2 is retired and hasn't been updated in over 5 weeks so it hasn't been updated since the recent verizon update. I would suggest trying the Community ROM or the Evil Fascination ROM. Those seem to be the two most popular and fasting updating ROMs available.

hmm it went away on its own... no idea.
ok will try one of those soon.

Did this only happen immediately after rebooting? Could be the media scanner making things lag.

i rebooted it, it happened.
i went to sleep, left it plugged in.
i woke up, went to work, and it was happening the whole time, up to about 10 hours after. now it works fine. maybe it was just the unlock mechanism.

Trouble With Sleep of Death on EB01/SuperClean 2.x?

Please try this patch.

Install via clockwork and please report your findings.
Stopped by the IRC chat earlier and was given this. Worked for me. Thanks for all your work. I take it this has been a developing issue..?
I'm assuming that sleep of death us the phone not sleeping. Is this true? Hate to assume and install a clockwork file for something I don't need.

Opposite rather. Phone not waking up and essentially shutting off. Goes to sleep, and never wakes up, hence, sleep of death
Huh, that's what that was. Had it happen with 2.3 wiped and updated to 2.4 and it seems to be okay. Wondered if it was only me.

Permanantly never wakes up? I'm having an issue with the phone sleeping. I usually just have to hit the power button a few times.

I've read that too. Mine just flat out wouldn't wake up. Same issue I believe.

I've been having this problem rather frequently as well.
Wheww...I'm relieved it's not just me. Started happening to me yesterday with Blackhole 4.2. I'd press the power button to wake my phone and nothing...just like it's off, except that it won't turn back on until I pull the battery first. Reflashed everything and then it worked most of the day then started doing it again. Also nearly tanked my battery.
Anyway, gonna flash SC and this patch and see how that goes.
Just out of curiosity Adrynalyne...what is causing this that the patch fixes?
So we finally have the name for this problem.. I was having a hard time looking for info on this problem with no luck and just switched back to dl30. This problem always drained my battery pretty bad after I battery pulled.

Thank you so much this fixed the problem I was having. When my screen would go to sleep it would not wake the phone up until I pressed the power button 3 times and the lock screen would come on....thanks again

I don't know if this would help anyone but I'm curious to know if it's the case for anyone else:
For those of you who have not applied this patch that are having problems getting your screen to come back on until you pull your battery, does it unlock if you hit the power button and the volume keys a couple times?
When I was having this issue, I just got into the habit of squeezing both sides of my phone (power button and volume up key) twice and my screen would always come back on.
Somehow or another, it seems to have stopped. Not sure what I did to make it stop since I've done so much trying to figure out an unrelated issue. I never looked through the logcat to see what was happening back when I was having the screen lock issue, so now I am curious.
I remember this was a common term used in Windows Mobile development (Omnia, Omnia II)
Which is where I first admired Adryn's work
Thank you for making my devices the way they should have been
Said my Frozen Yogurt-filled Fascinate (EB01)
thanks for the patch. i didnt know what the hell was wrong with my phone.
Installed SC 2.4 and the patch, but I'm still getting the sod. This is really driving me crazy now and there seems to be almost no information out there. I ran the stock bloated rom for several days without any problems so I'm just about to the point of going back to it.
For informational purposes, I'm running SC 2.4 with ADW EX Launcher. The only apps I've installed other than what comes with SC are Beautiful Widgets, PowerAmp Pro, Switchpro widget, and HanDbase. I do not have a theme installed.
I patched this file yesterday and everything was fine. Woke up this morning to a phone that was off and it has been doing it intermintly all day long. I'm flashing again now. We'll see.

Doubt it'll work. I've re-flashed the rom and the patch several times and it hasn't worked for me. FWIW, it does the same thing with Blackhole 4.2. The only thing that has worked for me is to go back to the original stock eb01 rom.
Also should probably mention I'm running the non-voodoo version. Anyone have any thoughts as to whether I'd have better luck with the voodoo kernel or would it make things worse.
Strangely enough, I loaded this up today for occasional lag at wake up, not for sod & now I've seen sod... Might be an app I just loaded tho. Anyone ever try process monitor widget? It has a setcpu type function & I'm not so sure it wasn't the culprit
Sent from my SuperClean'd SGS
I've loaded the patch, but haven't had a chance to test if it works.
When it happened to me (SOD), it was only when running on battery, never when the charger was plugged in. I'm just waiting for my batt to charge back up to full, then I'll pull it off of the charger and see if it reoccurs.

[Q] EB01 ROMs - Slow clock / time lag?

I have a problem where the clock / time will lag behind by a few minutes over time on EB01-based ROMs? I know that there were a few people that posted about this in the custom ROM threads, but I couldn't find any potential solutions.
I have tried auto-syncing the time off of the Verizon network, as well as manually setting the time - same problem in both cases. If it is relevant, I'm using a Blackhole 4.2 ROM.
(1) Does anybody else have this problem? It might help to see how widespread this is.
(2) Does anybody know of a solution to this?
I've had time issues with all of the EB01 roms I've tried. I think it has something to do with not having the original kernal or something (if I was a dev, I could fix it myself, lol). Anyway, the best solution I've found is to install "clocksync" from the market. It's free and you can set it to update every 30 seconds or so.
Hmm I keep hearing about clock lag on Froyo but I haven't had it on any of my roms. I've used stock, deodexed, super clean 2.3, and now black hole 4.21. No clock lag on any of them, my kernal has been switched off and on between voodoo and normal so idk. It's on auto sync from the network too so I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe try the EB01 Odin package?
I have been running different EB01 releases since it leaked, and I did not have this problem at all until yesterday. It doesn't seem to just slowly drift behind, but it does end up falling behind anywhere from 9-18 minutes from what I have seen so far. Then, it will just sync fine, as it is currently reporting the correct time.
I had the problem for a day and it seemed to go away when I reprogrammed my towers with the *228 function. If you haven't done that already, you should try that.
Never had this issue. Is this happening with the clock in the status bar or a widget? If its a widget it could be a task killer killing the widget and its not restarting. But if its the status bar clock I suggest you use eb01 clock remove.zip. ;-)
I'm with all the others never had batt issues, clock issues, or the infamous sleep of death.
Used my fascinating voodoo powers
I too am having problems. But I also have problems if I turn auto time sync off, so it leads me to believe it is some kernel issue? I've had this issue with Super Clean and Vanilla.
Is that *228 command 2 that you're suggesting?
This is certainly very annoying..

Excellent! I'll give this a whirl once wife is back with her phone! Thanks!!!
No issues as stated here. SC2.2.
good day.
Never had any of the EB01 issues till the clock lag. I just did the *228 since going to SC 2.6 so time (HeHe) will tell.
It's not enough to make me go off SC 2.x. It's only my 2nd day on SC 2.6 so I'm still watching the issue.
Have SC 2.7. I had the clock issue once, but it was fine after I restarted the phone and never had it again.
Only rooted/flashed once with Odin with EBO1 Debl/Deodex. Also using PhoneWeaver auto profiling.
I lose about a hour overnight when I let PW turn off the phone at 11:30 PM and back on at 6 AM. Last night, I tried turning OFF Automatic (use network provided values), and the phone lost 45 minutes in 2 hours. Turning Automatic back on manually didn't let the phone catch up until after a reboot.
My temporary solution is to let PW turn the phone back on an hour or 2 early so it will be sure to catch up before I need the alarm to go off, but it is a bit alarming to depend on it so looking forward to more complete Kernels/ROMs that I know are being diligently worked on as we speak.

[Q] Sleep of Death Help

I recently went from the original leaked froyo rom to super clean 2.9. Ever since I flashed that rom I have had the sleep of death. When I say that my phone has the sleep of death that is Everytime my phone goes to sleep. I have tried many things...I have tried using odin and flashing back to the original and them putting 2.9 and even going to 2.9.1. I have also went as far as not even installing titanium period. I eventually gave up and tried installing DarkRevenge v3 and am having the same results. I guess my only option is to go back to stock non-froyo. I have read that it is a froyo issue, but can't understand why I never had a problem with the original froyo leak. I honestly believe that I had the same kernel every time. I believe that I first had the froyo leak with DL09 then upgraded to the EB01. Let me add that each upgrade I never used voodoo, nor have I ever used voodoo...to my knowledge. I also went into wifi settings and changed the sleep policy to the plugged in option in hopes of saving battery life and thought it might be what was causing the issue, but it is not after switching back and having the same results.
If anybody has any ideas it would greatly be appreciated. I have tried wiping everything and flashing all roms according to instructions to a "T". If my SOD problem with just once or twice a day it would be tolerable, but every time has got to be a pain, especially since I have to take the phone out of the case and do a battery pull. Of course my battery life sucks, but that is acceptable. I am hoping that someone can help me with this issue before I go back to stock. I really like SC 2.9 and DarkRevenge v3 these roms are sooooo awesome. There again I am scared when I go back to stock I will still get the SOD...I hope not.
Thanks,
Leroy \oo/
Having the EXACT same issue ... any success?
I had to go back to a non froyo rom. I went with dl05 super dark with voodoo5 kernel. It runs great with no sod and awsome battery life with no froyo though. I might do some experimenting this weekend and I will let you know if I find any solutions.

[Q] LTE issues. Random shutdowns.

Ok, before I get crucified, I have searched and I haven't found anyone having anywhere close to the same issues as I. My last phone lost 4g after rooting. I couldn't get it back till I restored to stock. Flashed radios, roms, and wiped cache, data, and davik cache. Well, I finally raised enough of a stink to get an NIB thunderbolt. Rooted then had the same issues with 4g going out. So finally I tried something I didn't try before, I reflashed the mr1 upgrade rom from J's root thread. I got 4g back, but now I have issues with it shutting down randomly. It's not a reboot, it's more like a sleep of death. I can only fix it with a battery pull and reboot. I'm not overclocked, and I haven't even used setcpu on the mr1 rom. Is anyone else having these issues? Also, when I first received the phone and used it unrooted for two days until I had time to root it, it was plagued with random reboots every hour or so. I loved my new phone and didn't mind it until I started having major usability issues. I can't deal with a phone that can't stay on all day and I'm not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone have any possible explanations for what I'm experiencing?
I have this issue but I am pretty sure it's hardware related. Sometimes if I put pressure on both ends of the phone and bend it a tiny bit, it will shut off. Might not be the same thing as you but that is what is causing it for me.

Sleep of death? Haha, yeah, I've got the same issue. Screen refuses to turn back on, but I know the device is still running since my notification light keeps blinking. Only solution is a battery pull. Happened twice today.

Yep. I too have experienced the sleep of death at least half a dozen times. I experienced it a lot on MRs. at the time I was running Gingeritis beta CO and Imoseyans kernel OC to 1403mhz.
I've been running on MR2 for a week now with Gingeritis final and Imoseyans kernel.... and haven't had one spasm.
Rooting doesn't disable 4G. Did you make sure your original TB radio wasn't set to CDMA auto (prl) in settings/network before returning it?

I've been getting SOD occasionally as well. Happened once on stock rooted, several times on gingerBAMF, and on BAMF 1.7 as well. Often it has happened while asleep to find phone unwakeable in morning, but still on. The last day or so I've had market downloads seemingly trigger it as well. At least it did it while updating apps....No physical triggers have caused it. It's never frozen in my hand as previous poster mentioned.
I'm scared it's increasing in frequency. Guess I'll see how MR 2.5 works when I get a chance next.
I didn't say that rooting was the cause. Just the series of events. It wasn't until I flashed new roms that I started having issues. I have gone back to mr1 upgrade and gotten 4G back, but now I have the sleep of death issue.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I may try this setup and see if I still have issues. Thanks for the feedback.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Mine has only frozen while using once. Most of my issues with the sod have been after being in sleep for a while.
Thanks for all the responses, maybe one of the devs can chime in with some advice as to what we need to do to fix it.

I did have a simi random reboot issue this morning or o think so. I was making coffee and heard the phone vibrate than screen. Went off and rebooted. I was running gingerits with twisted and imo kernel at 1400/184 smartass extreme. I think that was the issue cause I set it to 1400/240 interactivex and have had no issues and got 16hrs outta of my 1700 batt with heavy usage.

+1 sleep of death
^_^_^
It's happened to me twice, once yesterday and once today. I have never had it happen until I flashed MR2.5.
i'm 3 days free of any more SODs after wiping to death and flashing MR 2.5 radio. happy days again. I hope. Probably just the wipe and not restoring any app data at all that made it better.

Atrix random reboots and screen not turning back on

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me....I'm getting kind of desperate here! Basically my Atrix keeps randomly rebooting or getting stuck with the screen off (requiring a batter pull) . This happens about 10-20 times a day (my Atrix is far too unreliable right now to use as a daily). This seems to ONLY happen when on network (ie 2g/3g/hspa) and doesn't seem to happen on wifi. I can leave it on all night and day at home on wifi happily with no trouble but as soon as I go to work and leave it on network, the trouble starts. Its weird cause if the phone is doing something with the screen off (playing and streaming music over Bluetooth for example) it won't have any problems. Its only once I leave it at rest on the network that it turns into the most unreliable handset ever.
At first I thought it may be the neutrino rom I was running but I've since been using jokersax's amazing ics builds and the same problem persists. I did a full clean (format /data & /system plus cache and factory wipe ) and loaded on the latest beta build this morning, left it clean with zero apps except google (and xda!) and within an hour of getting to work the problem came back.
I am fully boot loader and network unlocked.
Please, if anyone has any idea I would be really grateful. I am tearing my hair out!

Since i flashed beta 0.1.0 2d of Jokersax's ICS and come out of home

Why not try a more stable ROM first and see if you get reboots. You do realize some phones just cannot handle unstable roms like the cm9 builds even though they are great for some ppl it just doesn't workout also maybe you are using an oc kernel that your phone cannot handle.I would check both things first.
Try some a bit more stable.
cm7 ba2ft
wetdream
darkside
gingermod
If you get the same with those then maybe fastboot wipe and stuff like that so you can clear everything out
EDIT: flash a radio too

Hey,
Thanks, I'm going to try Gingerblur tonight... I had ruled that out as I have used darkside/gingerblur before and apart from the occasional reboot they were OK. The reboot was OK really, I know its a known issue with this model even with unrooted handsets, as long as its occasional and clean boots back to system again it doesn't really matter as I don't pin lock my sim (currently my problems are either a reboot every three minutes as soon as I switch the screen off... or, more commonly, the dead screen, needing that battery pull) .
I *suspect* that it may be the radio, but really need some solid advice on this because a couple of years ago I completely bricked my G1 by flashing the wrong radio and vowed never to touch radios again if I didn't have to....I am naturally very hesitant about radio flashing from that episode. Can anyone give me some decent advice on which radios i should be looking at for an unlocked ( but formerly Orange UK) Atrix? One very nervous owner here!
The other weird thing is that is perfectly fine when on a power source.

I have the same problem with my Atrix running cm7 ba2ft. Sometimes it does not respond when you try to unlock, and I need to take out the battery to turn it on again. I bought the phone couple of weeks ago.
another thing to look at would be the battery my friend had similar problems with his nexus and tryed Roms and radios I bought him a new battery as a joke and the joke ended up on me cause he hasn't had the problem since let me know if this helped you aswell

Same problem here. Very aggravating.
I am having the same problem. And I am 100% stock with no mods. I just installed OTA 2.3.6 so I am waiting to see if that helped.
Yeah, I'm really worried this is a hardware problem - I've been quiet these past couple of days testing the brand new GB radio and when that still had errors i then also tried the European one - the problem still persists. I have now downloaded every Atrix radio under the sun now so may try a few more...
This is quite frustrating as a) I really want to enjoy ICS as it really is a step up from previous versions of Android and b) I no longer have the option of selling this in its current state.
I'm also going to try a new battery as WikidClown suggested above, can't harm....I can pick up one on Amazon for less than a tenner.
One thing is for sure, I don't think I will be buying Moto hardware again!

i baught my atrix used. everything was stock. still had multiple reboots and battery pulls daily. on cm9 they seem to happen less. and the battery pull only happened once. but i know the issue must still be there. might try my wifes battery. her atrix has rebooted maybe 5 times ever. 3 since this last official update (she is still lock stock and 2 smoking barrels)
OK, trying a new battery is my last hope...I did a fastboot wipe this morning and for an hour and a half it was all going so well...but then the reboot happened.
I'm getting a bit fed up with this pos hardware...I can't even sell this thing in this state.

Anyone have any other experiences? I have confirmed that it isn't the battery...I bought a new batter and within 45 minutes it has rebooted once and done the screen off thing where it needs a battery pull. Complete crap.
One thing to note is that it does seem to get very warm on the back, although the internals ( behind the battery) don't seem so bad. Is there any way to keep the temp down aside from underclocking? All my roms have always been under clocked so I know that doesn't make any difference.
The other thing I might try is to use something like Noled so the phone isn't completely idle. Might drain the battery a bit unnecessarily though....why couldn't Moto have put in an amoled screen?
Anyway, will report back once I've tried it.

I used to get tons of random reboots and then I was told to get the app called "Wake My Android Pro". Settings -> Test Activity -> Auto Startup, and Stop Activity checked. Weird settings, I know, technically with stop activity checked it doesn't do anything, but ever since then I don't experience random reboots. This was a few months ago when I was on just CM7. I've always installed this app when I get a new rom and I've tried Neutrino, Darkside, Alien, Aura, CM7, Wet Dream, and currently on joker's CM9 beta 1 build and RARELY experience random reboots. It went from once an hour to once a month now. I'm also on the .36p radio if that helps.

Cheers, have downloaded and will report back. The most annoying thing about troubleshooting a problem like this is that there is no immediate 'it worked or 'it didn't work' ....it's just a waiting game! Thanks a lot though, really hope it does work (and thanks for replying, was starting to feel like I was answering threads to myself!). I have .36 radio installed already (I think, will check...it's the Brazilian one isn't it?) .
Just to check then...you have all the check boxes in wake my android ticked?
