I put my phone on charge last night and it seemed fine. When I woke this morning I noticed that it had only reached about 35% full. Neither the charger or usb cable are working now. I've pulled the battery out and left it for 10 mins etc but it's still not charging. Is this something I can fix easily or does it sound like it needs to go back to three.co.uk ?
Maybe your charger is defective!
I've also tried the regular usb cable direct to the pc and it isn't charging via that either.
I'm a worried now as I've installed a custom rom and I'll need to try to go back to stock if I need to return for repair. Trouble is that the PC isn't recognising the phone is connected by usb now :-(
Hmm, before giving it to service flash back the Stock ROM and see if the problem still remains or not.

Yes, if you have CWM use it to flash back to something stock. If you don't have it, you can get it through the app Darkysrom from the market. If you have enough power left that is..
I was wondering if I could flash back to stock with CWM which I do have. But as usb isn't being recognised I can only put the zip file on the external sd. Can I still flash from that?
I think you can.
So, sort of long story, i'll cut it short
-Got an old X10, had stock 2.3.3
-Rooted it
-Did not unlock bootloader, got kinda scared.
-Tried to install FeraLab custom ROM, it failed probably because of sdcard permissions; i accidentally wipe /system /data /cache
-stuck at first Sony Ericsson screen
-Somehow managed to flash a 2.1 stock rom with flashtool, after an hour of different combinations of enterring flash mode and pulling the battery
-Tried to install FeraLab again, this time it went through
-After install, rebooted, phone shut down during boot up process
-Will not turn on at all. Even when plugged into a PC, wall, not plugged in, pulling battery, etc.
I think what happened is that FeraLab needed a newer baseband than the 2.1 stock rom had. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this sucker to even turn on? Not a single LED is on when plugged in, giving me the impression that it's not charging.
If the battery has drained out, it might take some time before it kicks in and indicates that it is charging.
If the ROM has failed somehow, it might not show that it is charging at all, but might be charging.
Either way: Let it charge "blindly" for a while, and see what happens.
Once it does boot up to some level or shows life-signs, let it charge fully before you'l attempt a ROM flash.
The flash/recovery mode needs a full battery, and reason is that the external power isn't used even when connected while in flash/recovery mode.
If you happen to be in bad luck, and the ROM failed as a result of a drained battery, you might have to charge the battery externally. Use an external battery charger made for 3.6 volts Lithium Polymer batteries, and make sure to align the + and - terminals properly.
I can recommend the multicharger from Powerbase, called C-734U:
http://www.powerbasehk.com/product.php?id=148
Using it myself to charge the X10 battery, as well as other batteries from other devices I have.
EDIT:
(For some reason, powerbase has taken back that it'll charge Lipo batteries, but when I bought mine, it was described as a li-ion, li-poly and Ni-MH charger, and it't ability to charge li-poly batteries was the very one reason to why I bought it.
I suspect PowerBase does not want to take responsibility if anything happens to the li-poly-batteries, as they are known to be more dangerous than other types.)
I've left it on the wall charger all night, no response or anything. Luckily, I bought a new battery a few days ago, so when that comes in, hopefully it will be charged enough for this thing to boot.

Yeah, i'm not sure what he expected. But, good news! Now for some reason my phone started blinking red whenever I tried to turn it on! I guess the battery completely ran out or something. It also blinks every now and then when plugged in, so I guess it's charging. The previous owner of this phone said that it had some battery problems, so that's why I ordered that new battery. I'll let it charge for awhile and let you guys know what happens.
Okay, after getting my new battery, the phone will still not turn on. I think i've figured out two behaviors:
1. If the battery is nearly completely out of charge, it will flash a red light
2. If the battery has charge, it will not do anything at all.
Anyone know how to fix this?
While trying to turn on the phone, after long-press power button, do you get a flash from status led & short vibration?

No vibration, the red LED flashes three times, and that is , as I said before, what happens when the battery seems to not have any charge. If I have a charged battery it does absolutely nothing.
Have you removed sim & sd card and tried. I know it sounds dumb but when I flashed a bad kernel I had to try to connect flash mode like 10 times. Finally I left the phone unplugged from pc, started flashtool and started flashing. I only put battery in phone just before holding back key. I never connected USB until tool said to dis-connect phone and connect in flashmode.
i wish you luck, I know how I felt when it went wrong

Last night battery ran out of charge & phone switched off.. then i plugged the charger it doesn't charge.. after some time i tried turning on.. Vibrates with the green LED but nothing happens then..

Rom : Spikelabs GB Gaming rom
Kernel : Ferakernel v23 beta6
I tried another battery, charger, data cable.. Tried flashing stock & spikelabs kernel., but of no use..
Any help is greatly appreciated..
Thanks in advance.. :good:
Something like that happened to me not long ago!
I was trying to flash some ROMs and I messed up then my phone wouldn't turn on!
But Miracously, I could flash a Stock 2.3.3 which fixed the problem!
At first, I used Sony PC Companion, which helped a lot- and after I screwed it for the second time, I used FlashTool-
I don't know if this was helpful, but I hope your x10 will be fixed soon!
yeah try the PC Companion first, it helped me too a couple of weeks ago
No luck...
Hi friends..
Tried to repair using PC companion, but was able to connect only in flash mode, unable to proceed software update..
I previously tried flashing stock GB using flashtool thrice. Still couldn't switch on the phone.. What else may i try..
Thanks friends..

Okay, I've been driving myself crazy trying to find the answer to this little bootloop, and have been all over the place. So I apologize in advance if there is an elusive thread answer to this somewhere...
Here goes:
I downloaded and installed (properly) the [ [ROM] CM9 (ICS) for the Galaxy Player 5.0 USA ] by JackpotClavin. Now normally I would post my issue there, but due to me being a new member, it isn't allowed as you all know. So please bear with me.
Everything works fantastic, until I plug it in when the device is off. Then the screen and buttons light up, it shows the busy signal asterik, and gets to where it would NORMALLY show the battery next, but powers down. Now if I do something that stops the boot loop here (can't remember what right now; no internet at home) then when I plug it in, it actually boots up. But as soon as I unplug it, it kills itself as if it had no battery.
But if I plug in the device when it is already on, then it charges like normal. So I am REALLY confused here.
I already un-bricked it by myself at home when I did something dumb during the ROM restore (CWM). Set it back to stock, and it ran fine. As soon as I switch to the ICS ROM, issues
Now I did a little searching, and in the boot.log it references a "charging_mode_booting" I followed the file path, and found no file there. Now I am aware that I have little (none ) experience in android until now, so that may be normal. I would post the exact log here, but since the device is bootlooping as I type, this will have to wait until I get home again and can troubleshoot
Anyways, I hope I'm not wasting your time. Hope you can help me solve this!
Thank you for your time

Are you charging your device (while it's shut off) via laptop, console, desktop, or anything else besides a wall charger?
Look under your /system/media
There should be a bunch of battery charging files. If they aren't there, find the files from another ROM and move it there.

Ah thanks mate, that's what I did to get it to boot up while plugged in. Then it has the error here that if I unplug it, whole device shuts off as if the power was the only power source, but will reboot from the battery if I turn it back on.

Hello everyone ,
first thank you for all your developments.
Secondly, excuse my English but I'm Portuguese.
I spent a lot of time to read all the topics related to this problem, and I have too with my Intl Player.
Since I installed the rj 's custom kernel (r14) if my player is turned off, as I branch as a wall charger or on USB in my MacBookPro , I boot loop load as described above.
So I installed a file explorer that allowed me to see that I had none of the files in the directory system / media.
Ok, I installed adb and fastboot on my Mac , and successful (despite the write permissions only one I managed to get around) to copy the files I found there.
I was sure now it was going to fix my problem, but unfortunately, I have always this kind of boot loop charge if my player is turned off.
Apart from that , everything seems to work well , I do not even know if this is really a problem , I did not let my battery run down lest I get stuck . As long as the player stays on, no worries, battery charging well. Of course I did all the basic wipe's (data/factory, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats).
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much information .
If someone has an idea of where it may come again, or at least tell me if it's serious in case my battery is fully discharged .
Thank you ! :good:
Edit : actualy I have installed the [ROM][4.3][YP-G70]CyanogenMod 10.2 - M1 Release whith the KKernel R2.1 by KOala888 (My YP-G70 run super fast...).

The charging mode bootloop has been a problem since the first gingerbread custom kernels and has been a problem up until KitKat. It is solved in KitKat. There is no fixing this problem in pre-KitKat custom roms without recompiling the kernel.
Here is information about the fix:

Thanks for your answer. I understand you be tired of answering this problem ... But everything I 've read (and I read for hours and hours , really), I thought it only happened when a USB connection to a computer, not to a wall charging.
If it's just a minor bug and I can use my YP-G70 like that, it's going well, I 'm just afraid to let the battery get to the end and did not do anything. (I also read an old post that says let the battery get to 5% and then moving into CWM mode, and let it discharge completely before reconnecting to a wall charger)...
Last question, is there an kitkat "light" version of that will go as fast as the YP-G70 I installed (4.3) ?, because really outside this bug, all is so good and speed all I 'm doing it (basic use) is really fast.

So I try to install a kitkat to see if the speed is correct.

When I was running pre-KitKat ROMs, I let the battery drain completely a few times. It does charge, when it is bootlooping. I let it bootloop for a while, say 10 mins or so and then disconnected it and started it up. Then plugged it back in and let it charge the rest of the way...

Hi everyone,
First, please excuse me for my bad english
So, I'm here because I have a really big problem with my Samsung I9100.
Indeed, I will explain my problem. I installed the SENTINEL ROM 5.00 a few month ago, and I never had a problem before.
But yesterday, I don't know why, I have so much problem with my Network, (My friends haven't the same problem and we have the same operator, it's Orange)
So, I don't understood why I had this kind of problem. After a few minutes, my GS 2 shut down...
I tried to boot but It had no effect !! I fall in a reboot loop, whith no home screen.
After a panic I try so much solution :
Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache, reboot. Same problem ! Sometimes, I can access to the menu, but a few minute after, it shut down again.
I tried to restore an official firmware, no effect, He can't load, he is blocked with "Samsung animation boot".
I tried to restore with a ROM (Rootbox 3.91), no effect too, I can access temporary to my message, and after a few minutes, he shut down !
Sometimes, I just click in the home button (The only button), and it shut down !
I observed now, it can't book if I don't connect it to the alimentation's cable.
Really, I'm so lost, I understand nothing. Especially, I didn't do something special to make this...
If someone can help me...
Thanks !

It sounds like you would get into recovery-mode?
Do you have an ClockworkModRecovery?
Can you make a nandorid backup with the recovery?
Do you have an older Recovery you could restore without too much data-loss?
Is the battery ok? Can you start your Phone if you connect it with the charger? If yes I would recommand to backup as many iportant data as possible.
I'm running sentinelRom 5.0 too and I have no problems.

I don't know if the battery is OK cause in the screen, I have 100% but when I disconnect the alimentation's cable. It shut down ! And I can boot but after the first boot animation, It shut down !
I don't care about my data really, it's nice but I just wanna recover my phone with all his fonctionnality !
I alrealdy make a backup !
I am very lost cause I don't know why it do that :/
Can you start the phone withe the cable plugged in but without the battery?

My battery percentage stucks at mostly 97% to 99% never goes full charge, thou ampere sees it as fully charged on 97% or %98. How can i fix this thing? Without opening the hardest back cover in the century of smartphones.
Edit: Tested with RR Oreo 6.1.0 07231028 build and it went up to 100% fully without single interruption. But on MIUI it never goes beyond 97% i have to replug and unplug the cable several times to get it to 99%.
Same ..bt i changed rom bt nothing happned.what can i do
same with mine. Before Im using AOSP rom then I revert back to Masik U 2.5. I need to power off to reach 100% if not its always 98% and plug and unplug.
Thanks
How u fix this
After switching from miui 10 to miui 9 i had this problems: battery never full charge, phone gets hot while charging, at 15% left jiuce phone switches off. I tryed to clean all and flash, i even relocked bootloader it fixed it temporary.
So I called service, guy told me that when you go back with os version sometimes drivers go bad, sometimes wifi, battery, signal, etc. He told me to send him a device and he will try to fix this. I sent him and he fixed it. Btw i noticed that it was installed miui 9.2.6.0 NEGMIEK. He didnt told me what he did but you can try to flash this version of miui maybe it will fix.
It looks like MIUI based misreading or like the reply #3 said maybe driver issue. I'm upgrading my device to MIUI 10 8.8.30 to see if it fixes this thing up. If not i'll have to sadly request assistance..

When on miui 9/10, root it, install a root explorer then go to data/system. There will be two or three files named batterystats.bin, batterystatsdaily.xml and one other file (can't remember the name as I am using Masik 2.5 and it doesn't have these files). Just delete them after your phone charges to 97 or 99 % , close all background apps and again plug in the charger and check if it goes to 100%......
I tryed that before, it will give temporary fix, even reflashing 9.5.6 miui didnt help, better ask for assistance they have another tools for flashing roms. Guy from service told me before that he dont need unlocked bootloader to flash rom. Becouse i told hom that i relocked bootloader and i have to wait 360 hours to relock again. Sorry for bad english.

Yean, there is no need for unlocked bootloader to flash stock miui rom. They use EDL mode to flash the rom which automatically locks the device. You can try this method on your own only if you know what to do or else go to the service centre...
download terminal app from google play store (like Terminal Emulator for Android)
or
if you have orangefox twrp, go in ADVANCED - TERMINAL
and type
Code:
su
rm /data/system/battery*
alternatively, you can use file manager from orangefox
after you have to turn off the smartphone
Open the phone and remove battery for a while, and plug in again....
this definitely fix the problem...
I have a same problem
But I have a solution
Try one time charge don't disconnect a cable while charging
Battry gets 100% charged
Did anybody find any solution for this? I tried everithing, but on MIUI it doesn't charge up fully. It stucks at 97%. And it won't charge further even after a power off.

My solution was to disconnect battery from motherboard for 5 minutes and connect it back. I didnt turned phone on, just connected charger (green battery only on screen)
This should help.
If you dont want to dissasemble your phone, calibrate your battery with root and app. But first discharge it to 0% and plug charger and turn it on. From 0% it should charge 98% or 100%. If 100% shows you can be free, if 98% shows try method with app.
Good luck!

Someboy mentiond in this thread that they reached 100 on cutom roms and this is what my phone does too. I tried the unofficial pixel experience pie rom, and my phone reached 100%. But when i reverted back to stock, or xiaomi.eu it only charge till 97%. I don want to take it apart, so I think that's it. I have to live with it.
Got the same issue on mine.
Only charge to 96% when the phone is on and 97% when the phone is off.
Same issue on Miui 10 global and EU 8.12.27.
Besides opening the phone to unplug the battery, had anyone tried to flash via fastboot miui 9 again?
On miui 9 i didn't had this issue.
Later i will try to flash miui 9.5.11.0 via fastboot to see if it fix the issue and report back.
Thanks.
Edit: tried 9.5.11.0 same result.
Will try now pixel experience official and unnoficial
I have a probelm too
My mobile battery stuck on 97%
How to fix it
