Question [Q] Need help/Suggestion!!!
Hi I bought a Lg P500 a month back,details are:
Android Version:2.2.1
Kernel Version:2.6.32.9
Build Number:FRG83
Software Version:V10c DEC-08-2010.
When i checked through Lg update notification it said a new version 10d is avaialble.
Q1)What is the difference between v10 c and v10 d ??
Q2)suppose if i upgraded my phone to 10d,if i didnt like the update can i revert back to old version??
I am using APP2SD and moved all apps to mem card.
As my phone has 40 pre-apps which stored in internal memory ,My phone has hardly 19-20 mb free internal memory..So it is very difficult to manage .
Q3)Can anybody please suggest how to remove Preinstalled apps which i dont want??
I am afraid to install custom roms mentioned in the other posts as the phone is only 1 month old .
Q3)Does Warranty still exists if i do any custom rom like cynogen or unofficial ginger bread update etc?
Please suggest some tips to improve Performance of my Phone .
Many Many Advance thanks for replying ..
Thanks

Hi and welcome!
I'll try to reply to your questions in the same style
Q1: There is small difference between V10c and V10D. In my opinion, it is not wise to update original fw until the official 2.3 arrives. If you upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.2 you'll loose the ability to root your phone.
Q2: You can always downgrade your device using KDZ. If you need more info on this one, follow this thread. Just make sure to read carefully and try to understand the risk that implies flashing with KDZ. If you pass this ones, you'll be upgrading and downgrading in no-time.
Q3: You can remove pre-installed apps only if you root your phone, and use an root un-installer, or by flashing a different rom with no pre-installed apps.
To do this, you have to have Android 2.2 on your device (not 2.2.2), and use a tool like SuperOneClick Root or Z4Root. Again, you should be careful and read every warning.
To get the most from your phone, check out the threads on XDA forum regarding Optimus One Android Development or Optimus One General. There are a lot of things to do, with a lot of details and tutorials, just follow carefully.
I hope this helps you.
Cheers mate!

thanks for your kind advice .. I have tried to root using z4 root but it didn't rooted my phone instead my phone was lil bit slow after installation then i have upgraded to V10D through original firmware which shown in my pc suite .
It have tried to open the following link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500
but it seems the link is not working.
So ..I m thinking better to wait for one more month for LG till it releases 2.3 ..
Man, you'll have to wait more than one month for 2.3... :|
About the link you cannot open, i guess it is broken, it doesn't work for me either. But you must be able to find the fw you need for your country by searching for it on google. I found mine on other forum, and it works perfect. Just google "lg optimus one <<your country>> rom" (no quotes) and you shall find it. Be sure to get the *.kdz file, not *.dz, they need some other application for flashing, and it is more complicated.
About rooting with z4root, you need to downgrade to v10C or below (maybe v10D works too, i haven't tried) and then use z4root. Make sure you have debugging checked in applications before using z4root.
If you want to root v10D or newer (but up to android 2.2.1) you should be able to do it using OneClick method, it is easy enough, though you need the drivers installed on your pc, as you will connect the device via usb.
Tell me where are you from, maybe i can get you the original fw, at least i can help finding
Cheers!

my phone (optimus one) is new and i still have insurance from the company.
i really want to root my phone in order to install overclocking app because as you know this phone is not that quick.
anyways, people told me that first i need to downgrade my device and than root it with some softwares and to be honest i don't know **** about those stuff.
i would really like someonee here, who knows how to do those things, to help me though skipe or msn and take me though those steps without destroing my android.
my msn: ok i cant write my msn here than just know that the name is Wizarflesh and the mail is gmail.
my skipe: omri.haim
huge thanks to anyone who can help me root my phone.

i meant it when i said i dont know **** about those stuff.
i am from israel and i bought the O1 from orange company in hebrew languang.
it is 2.2.1 android

Only v10b is root-able. If you have other version you gotta downgrade to v10b.

you cannot root 2.2.1
you can find all the info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
basically find an original LG firmware for your country that is 2.2 (v10b). Then flash phone using flash tool from emergency mode with firmware.
Once you have the original 2.2 rom on the phone, grab Z4root app and then easy to root phone.
Next step is custom rom like cyanogenmod 7 etc if you want real performance! start reading! (alot)
Has anyone tried SuperOneClick to root the O1? They say that it can root any version of Android. Is that true with O1?
No,only 2.2 is rootable for now
I suggest that you read the thread given below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
The instructions are well explained there.

Once you root your phone immediately install the recovery. Don't play with a rooted handset if it is not having recovery. Otherwise you will end up in a boot loop and its really hard to get phone back in working condition(in case something goes wrong).
Be very carefull while installing recovery. Crosscheck twice before you push anything to handset.
Chat with me on g talk my I'd is [email protected]....

can you install CM or amon recovery and and custom rom on P350?
Hi guys
I just purchased an x10a mini pro (Telstra branded version). I wanted to install a custom ROM on it, but can't find any instructions on what steps to follow. I'd like to install the most stable CM7 build if possible.
Also can anyone refer me to the steps on installing a custom rom (ideally gingerbread build). Again I can't seem to find any instructions on this forum on how to create a ROM backup.
Im a bit of a tech noob, so apologies if it seems noobish. I also tried a thread search but couldnt find any satisfactory instructions
tutorials R on forum. First U need to ROOT it, then install recovery (xRecovery or ClockWorkMod) and after that doors R open

Any Links to the Tutor Page ???
I have rooted my phone - used Super One Click)
Now I want to try the 2.3.4 Rom in my XPERIA X10 mini.
Though, before I do anything, I would like to backup my current ROM ( and need to be able to recover later, if needed ).
I'll need all help I can get.
Thank you.
Hi all,
I have spent the past two weeks rooting my phone, trying to install CM7 and then failing everytime with a permission verification error when flashing clockwork mod.
Could someone please give me a step by step guide to rooting and installing a decent rom on an CPW SGS2 with the following settings:
baseband: i9100xxke7
kernel: 2.6.35.7-i9100xwkf3
buildnumber: gingerbread.xwkf3
I would be eternally grateful as I scoured so many threads but to no avail.
Thanks in advance
I can say Chainfire's rooting process is the Simplest yet effective most out there, not interested in CM or whatever out there, so if you want CF guide, then read his thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399.
After rooting you will have Yellow triangle and to remove that you will need Samsung signed kernel and you will find it from here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278.
The above two threads have more than enough information on rooting, so just go on.
Regards.
Thanks for the information - this is the root method that I did before which worked but I couldn't install CM7 - is it necessary to remove the yellow triangle ? Will this prevent me installing other ROMs?
I don't think so. Some users are using their phone with the YT without any problem afaIk.
I will give it a go and respond with my results. Cheers for the information.
I gave it a go and still ran into problems - had a look round and installed litening ROM. That took literally 5 minutes and didnt involve manual root permission. Definitely a android beginners friend. Fixed the volume problem aswell! happy days

Hey willcass, did you have to root your phone first than install the Litening Rom?
or did you just follow the step by step instructions?
Cause my phone is not rooted, and I'm wondering if I can just install the rom without having my SCS2 rooted.
Thx!

well, I allready got my xperia mini pro rooted but with firmware 4.0.2.A.0.42 and android 2.3.4 GB. It's a brand free new phone, I haven't even inserted a SIM since I received it yesterday, I'm still waiting for my SIM. I've only downgraded the firmware & rooted the SO, nothing else (the only new change is the adition of superuser after rooting)
I'd like to know the steps I have to follow from this point to install a rooted android 4 ICS , if there is any good guide to lead me..
Thanks
EDIT: finished...simpler than I thought

You have to downgrade to a rootable version using Flashtool, then root it using DooMLoRD's method. THIS tutorial is absolutely not obsolete... and it's sticked in the first page of the forum
I got confused
thanks for your reply
I saw it before, but I was confused in beginning, it seems there's a msitake:
when it says "NOTE: If you have newer firmware(4.0.2.A.0.62 or 4.0.2.A.0.69), check tutorial 3 first to downgrade your firmware"
should say "...check tutorial 4" That silly thing made me think that the whole tutorial was wrong or obsolete, cause both points have nothing to do with each other.
Thanks for your help, I'm gonna try it
PD: do I need a SIM card in any step of the whole prcess?
No. I don't think you'll need a sim
