[Q] Create ROM Backup for x10a mini pro - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi guys
I just purchased an x10a mini pro (Telstra branded version). I wanted to install a custom ROM on it, but can't find any instructions on what steps to follow. I'd like to install the most stable CM7 build if possible.
Also can anyone refer me to the steps on installing a custom rom (ideally gingerbread build). Again I can't seem to find any instructions on this forum on how to create a ROM backup.
Im a bit of a tech noob, so apologies if it seems noobish. I also tried a thread search but couldnt find any satisfactory instructions

tutorials R on forum. First U need to ROOT it, then install recovery (xRecovery or ClockWorkMod) and after that doors R open

Any Links to the Tutor Page ???
I have rooted my phone - used Super One Click)
Now I want to try the 2.3.4 Rom in my XPERIA X10 mini.
Though, before I do anything, I would like to backup my current ROM ( and need to be able to recover later, if needed ).
I'll need all help I can get.
Thank you.

Question [Q] Need help/Suggestion!!!
Hi I bought a Lg P500 a month back,details are:
Android Version:2.2.1
Kernel Version:2.6.32.9
Build Number:FRG83
Software Version:V10c DEC-08-2010.
When i checked through Lg update notification it said a new version 10d is avaialble.
Q1)What is the difference between v10 c and v10 d ??
Q2)suppose if i upgraded my phone to 10d,if i didnt like the update can i revert back to old version??
I am using APP2SD and moved all apps to mem card.
As my phone has 40 pre-apps which stored in internal memory ,My phone has hardly 19-20 mb free internal memory..So it is very difficult to manage .
Q3)Can anybody please suggest how to remove Preinstalled apps which i dont want??
I am afraid to install custom roms mentioned in the other posts as the phone is only 1 month old .
Q3)Does Warranty still exists if i do any custom rom like cynogen or unofficial ginger bread update etc?
Please suggest some tips to improve Performance of my Phone .
Many Many Advance thanks for replying ..
Thanks

Hi and welcome!
I'll try to reply to your questions in the same style
Q1: There is small difference between V10c and V10D. In my opinion, it is not wise to update original fw until the official 2.3 arrives. If you upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.2 you'll loose the ability to root your phone.
Q2: You can always downgrade your device using KDZ. If you need more info on this one, follow this thread. Just make sure to read carefully and try to understand the risk that implies flashing with KDZ. If you pass this ones, you'll be upgrading and downgrading in no-time.
Q3: You can remove pre-installed apps only if you root your phone, and use an root un-installer, or by flashing a different rom with no pre-installed apps.
To do this, you have to have Android 2.2 on your device (not 2.2.2), and use a tool like SuperOneClick Root or Z4Root. Again, you should be careful and read every warning.
To get the most from your phone, check out the threads on XDA forum regarding Optimus One Android Development or Optimus One General. There are a lot of things to do, with a lot of details and tutorials, just follow carefully.
I hope this helps you.
Cheers mate!

thanks for your kind advice .. I have tried to root using z4 root but it didn't rooted my phone instead my phone was lil bit slow after installation then i have upgraded to V10D through original firmware which shown in my pc suite .
It have tried to open the following link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500
but it seems the link is not working.
So ..I m thinking better to wait for one more month for LG till it releases 2.3 ..
Man, you'll have to wait more than one month for 2.3... :|
About the link you cannot open, i guess it is broken, it doesn't work for me either. But you must be able to find the fw you need for your country by searching for it on google. I found mine on other forum, and it works perfect. Just google "lg optimus one <<your country>> rom" (no quotes) and you shall find it. Be sure to get the *.kdz file, not *.dz, they need some other application for flashing, and it is more complicated.
About rooting with z4root, you need to downgrade to v10C or below (maybe v10D works too, i haven't tried) and then use z4root. Make sure you have debugging checked in applications before using z4root.
If you want to root v10D or newer (but up to android 2.2.1) you should be able to do it using OneClick method, it is easy enough, though you need the drivers installed on your pc, as you will connect the device via usb.
Tell me where are you from, maybe i can get you the original fw, at least i can help finding
Cheers!

Wat is sdk ???
Is it 100% safe dude ?
Android SDK stands for Android Software Development Kit provided by Google. After installing it, you can use the adb(Android Debug Bridge) to access your phone from the PC. If you read my post, I have clearly mentioned that you can either chose to install SDK and then install Custom Recovery from your PC or bypass this step and install Custom Recovery using a tool like Terminal Emulator from your rooted phone.
And, IT IS 100% SAFE
And, Please do a Google search before you post your queries. You will get a faster response than waiting for a reply on the forums.

[Q] how i reinstall factory apps

by mistake I unstalled all the google apps,as aresult of that I can't download from the market also i am reciving error message (com.google.process.gapps)
how i can solve or reinstall the google apps?
my device is x10 mini software 2.1 and rooted.
You should probably just reflash or go to a custom ROM now instead of reinstalling all the apps. There are flashable google app zips for 2.2 but i dont know about 2.1. Look in the custom 2.1 threads for the apks or download a custom 2.1 ROM and extract the apks from the zip in the data>app folder and install them. You can do that from your PC and transfer the apks if you want and then just install from a file explorer. If you dont have a file explorer from which to install from your SD and you cant use market you will need to reflash.

I realy appreciated you help bro,and it would be nice if you help me to finde the nessary google apps.
also i have no idea how to reflash or where to finde custom ROM ??
Go to this thread and install the flashtool and newest FW
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
follow the instructions on that thread to flash the FW, dualtouch, root and install recovery. Then head over to the development forum and search the ROM threads and decide which you want and follow the instructions. I personally recommend WolfBreaks 2.2 CM 6.1.3 some people really like the MiUi ROMs which kinda resemble iPhone. The 2.2 (froyo) ROMs are complete and stable and have almost all the functions from stock plus loads more. The 2.3 (gingerbread) ROMs aren't as complete and are missing some camera functionalities. If you spend time and read the instructions and follow them step by step you can't mess up so don't be intimidated. The X10 cant be bricked in most circumstances and anything you mess up can be undone. Just spend the time to read and dont be afraid to ask questions but always try and find the answer first. Like I said though just follow all the instructions and you'll be fine. Enjoy your new X10!

105 views and no one can help? Can someone please help me out?....
Hi.. That link you posted is to root android 2.2 and 2.1 ... Not for 2.3 gingerbread..
If u want to root your phone the safest and easiest way to do is flash a stock rooted (name of file).md5 thru Odin..
Odin= computer program that is used to flash stock roms and modems on Samsung phones
(name of file).md5 is a file that u need to download for your phone..
U can google rooting epic 4g 2.3.6 on xda and yolk for a way to root via Odin..
U can also YouTube rooting via Odin.. Super easy.. Happy rooting!
Also after rooting thru Odin u can install a custom recovery thru Odin so u can install roms thru ur memory card..

So probobly you will need to unlock your bootloader to install custom rom. Not every rom require it but most of them.
1.Here you've got tutorial to unlock your bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
2.This could be useful for you I think http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
If you need some additional info, just ask
I've been using Xperia U since last year. I would appreciate if someone could guide me in easy steps how to flash and install a new ROM in my device. I am tired of the interface and phone is working slow and giving me trouble.
P.S I'm a noob in this field.
