Can someone send me the post on how to update to the new android 2.3 on my g2. I would prefer to do it straight from my phone. Thanks
You need to root your phone and follow this guide, flashing roms is done entirely from your phone.

hang on do you mean the tmobile g2 aka the HTC desire z, or the tmobile g2 touch aka HTC hero?
because if its the former this is getting ridiculous, we need a forum rename!

Check it out, looks pretty slick:

It's probably going to cost a lot more than the Optimus V and going to be locked down by motorola. LG Optimus still has the more bang for the dollar.
Looks pretty sweet to me
How is that related to O1? Should a thread like this not be in General Forum or something?
The Motorola Triumph with Virgin's $40/month plan would do me good.
No matter how hard ANY of you guys try, you will NEVER be as excited as I am for this phone.

Well yes, "Virgin", not "LG Optimus One/V". This Motorola has no connection to our Optimus so this thread is pointless.

Is Motorola known for locking down their phones? Any chance they would open this one up for us?

Well the guys at Android Central are blogging that Virgin Mobile is having a lot of say on what goes in to the phone. They're keeping it stock and no Motorola Blur stuff on it. There might be a possibility that Virgin Mobile requires an unlocked boot loader. We'll just have to wait and see in July.
i bet i am the most excited

you can go in settings/apps and disable or uninstall nearly all the AT&T apps you know
and the AT&T HTC One is m7_ul

What's the difference between them?
(GPe, HTC Unlocked, HTC Developer)
I got regular AT&T version. Amber gold.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
GPe is stock vanilla android. It is running what the nexus devices would run without Sense software on top of it.
The Dev model is basically the same as carrier models except it is SIM unlocked and you already have unrestricted access to the phone to develop or flash roms. Still has sense on it.
Good thing about having the M8 on at&t means we can easily turn our carrier versions into a developer version or GPe.

with soff, it doesn't matter which one you get. You can unlock the phone and once ruu's become available, you can truly convert to any variant. I would not convert to gpe because of partition size. Just flash gpe roms if you want to use it.

Once the sense RUU become available moving back to sense won't be an issue as the RUU will restore the sense partition size.
I purchased the developer edition because I was not due for an upgrade and it was the same price at the time. I also like the fact that it is not branded. All I had to do was flash recovery, super user and then S-Off. It won't be long until a ruu and fuu becomes available. Along with a recovery switcher that is in the works.

GPE is stock Android and will receive updates ASAP (the M7 GPE got 4.4 10 days after release)
HTC Unlock is just sim free. Use it on any GSM network.
HTC Developer editor has the bootloader unlocked from the factory and doesn't void your warranty if you root etc. It's also sim unlock
I have a AT&T branded M8 because I knew it would be dev friendly and I can easily convert to GPE if wanted. Plus I don't plan on leaving AT&T anytime soon so sim unlock isn't important to me. I can always unlock it myself later

I picked up the ATT branded version because I was eligible for Next so it was convenient. I'll probably pay it off soon anyway. So far I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
I picked up an at&t model and just s-off'ed the device so when the dev ruu drops I will convert to that

Yeah GPE is not stock vanilla android (read: aosp like the nexus comes with and who's source code is out to build on from google), it is HTC's senseless android build for a stock vanilla "feel".

Took me, and lots of others a few seconds with ioroot!
What is the saying, "a bad workman always blames his tools" . . . It is not LG's fault at all.

I didn't even TRY to read your post.
Try to apply some actual, appropriate punctuation and spelling next time.
It really isn't hard at all, and instead of asking for help, you made yourself look like an idiot.
I LoL when I read this post.
it took 30 seconds to root d802kk with ioroot... and i'm not an expert...
I think OP didn't read directions.

That is still not a question...
You are just announcing that you failed at a task.
Anyway the biggest failure here (beside the tantrum) was that you did not share any details about your phone, version,os, your rooting methods, your system where you tried it.

in your sig it says you sold the g2x and are currently using a htc one, so this thread is pointless and should be closed.

If you can't follow the directions to root, then you shouldn't have a rooted phone. Wouldn't be safe.

We finally got to the question.
Follow sticky guide return to stock rom make sure you download KDZ of jelly bean.
Follow guide explicitly.
Once back in with jelly bean use ioroot to root it.
If you have sold the device then delete this post..
