Q. installing new kernel re-calibrates battery? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does battery stats automatically resets if I flash a new kernel at 100% battery full charge?
I flashed a kernel at 60% battery, so I did su bstat from terminal after kernel installation with a full charge, but even after calibration the battery took 4 hours to drop from 100% to 90%, but 3 hours until 9%.
So which way would be more accurate? should I just recharge till 100% and flash the kernel again?

Devs always say to recharge to 100 (as in let charge all night), then do battery stats wipe.

[Q] Is my battery life normal?

First, I apologize for my bad English.
I very doubt with my battery life. e.g. Today, I had been using my phone about 9hrs before battery dropped to 1% and after a few minutes it grew up to 2% and after a few minutes it dropped to 1% and grew up to 2% again
e.g.2. I turned off my phone when it has about 50% battery and after I turned on the phone, my battery directly dropped to 13% and after a few minutes it grew up to 25% WITHOUT charging.
I tried to wipe battery stats in CWM recovery mode, delete batterystats.bin, pull of the battery for 2-3 minutes, use battery calibration app, change the ROM or kernel or modem and it still no change
I am using Criskelo Rom v34, Speedmod k18 kernel and XXKL1 modem, edge on, sync off
Yup, seen that as well.
Just quit messing with all those battery related things, charge it to 100% a few times and use it up a few times without flashing roms kernels and wiping stats etc.
It should be normal after that. Give it a week or 5-10 cycles or so.
Thanks, I will try it and come back to review : )
i also had this problem once. i just kept using my phone as normal and the problem fixed itself

Do I need a new battery?

for the past couple days ive had charging issues. ill go to charge my phone at night my battery will be at 40% or whatever it is. I plug it in for like 5 minutes and it says its 100% charged, obviously its not. Also when I wake up and unplug my phone it says its 100% charged, itll stay at 100 for like an hour and a half then all the sudden itll drop to like 85%. Is there anything I can do? Do I just need a new battery?
Wipe your battery stats charge 100% wipe battery stats again .
Use Better Battery Stats to check excess drain .

[Q] Transformer Prime Battery Dies at 30 %

I have had Transformer Prime for over a month. its rooted and never gave any battery issue. i have installed Battery Booster app to monitor battery percentage and temperature and also to be notified when battery is fully charged so i dont over charge it and damage the battery.
recently my prime shuts down with 30% battery still remaining. i have to charge it to get it back on. Once i charge it for 5 - 10 min it turns on showing 34-35 % battery life. ( Battery Percentage checked with Both Battery Booster app and built in Device settings )
Kindly Help.
Wipe the battery stats, it has the "dead" state at 30%.
Wipe the stats, run a full cycle or two and it should be good to go.

I have already done that , and now have my fingers crossed , will update once i reach 30% or Below.
Ok . wiped the battery stats , charged it to 100 % and no problem faced after that. took 5-6 pics with flash on at 1% battery remaining, still didn't die.
Good to hear!
You might want to change the thread title by adding solved at the beginning or end.
If you're not sure how to, if you edit your first post and go into advanced mode, you can then change the title.

Drain all battery and charge it from zero. Let it be fully charged before starting it. If you run CWM you can wipe battery state.
Your question is in wrong section in the forum. Try starting the thread in General.
Cheers
+1 this -- and some additional detail...
Wiping battery stats does NOT improve actual battery life. If done properly, and coupled with a calibration cycle, it can increase the accuracy with which your battery reports its current charge. Ideal process is as follows..
Charge to 100%
Reboot into CWM
wipe battery stats under" advanced"
Reboot
Charge back to 100%
Let it DIE (go to 0%) from normal use, DO NOT charge it during the cycle
Re-charge to 100% and you're all recalibrated.
From the sound of it, don't be surprised if your phone sits at 5% for hours. After the calibration, your battery history should be a relatively smooth, downward sloping curve.

Check Settings>Battery Information>Battery Usage and see if a process named RILD is using a high percentage of your battery usage. That process - a very necessary Motorola radio daemon - is wreaking some havoc by causing very rapid battery discharge and also preventing normal charging.
No solution for you but thought I would let you know before you try too many different "solutions" needlessly.
Thanks!

Battery Issue?

I have been having this issue for a while, not sure if it is my phone but it is not the rom. Been through 5 roms and it still has a problem.
The phone seems to be charging to fast... After a 5 minute charge, it charges to over 15%. Not normal...
After an hour of standby time, the battery drains by 7%
5 minutes on youtube = 10% battery. Charge won't last 3 hours, it use to be lasting 11-12 hours. Motorola is sending me a new battery, but I have bought a new battery online and it is kinda doing the same thing.
Is there a mod I can download and install it inside of recovery to make it better?
Thanks.

The problem seems to be the 'battery stats' failure.
It usually occurs when you keep changing ROMs over and over. If repeated, the system fails to detect the correct battery information(like battery percentage, charing phase and etc).
There's two ways to get this thing straightened up .
The first is to go to CWM recovery(if you've unlocked your bootloader and installed CWM recovery)
I recommend you to fully charge before going through this steps.
1) go to -advanced menu.
2) go to -Wipe Battery Stats then select Yes.
3) Then charge till 100%, and then disconnect from AC charger.
4) Discharge until it reaches 0%, then recharge again.
The other way is to make use of 'battery calibration' app by NeMa.
You will be able to find it on Playstore.
I hope it would help solve your problem
Wiping battery stats doesn't do anything. That's why this selection was removed on recent TWRP 2 recoveries. People still use CWM???
