+1 for imoseyon's kernels, only kernels I have been running for a while now and they are awesome.

Help me choose a ROM

Hey guys,
I've tried CM7, Revolutions and Asgard for GB Roms and for me and my 10 hour work days, I need something that'll last a little more and will respond better. My experience with the three roms were not the best, but promising. It didn't dissuade me from GB roms, but rather excited me. I just am gonna have to wait until they're 100% smooth haha.
Anyway, I've only ever really used 2.2 Roms and the only ones I've ever loaded was Axura, Nero/Bionix, and Trigger (and flagship, but I don't count that because it was for a day). I'm wanting something different and I think I've decided on these, but if you guys recommend something different please let me know.
Anyway, I would love to hear your opinions and I appreciate the time you guys are taking to respond.
Respectfully,
Vahdyx
I like Bi-Winning and most other 2.2.1 ROMs just because my phone seems to do really well with them. But to be honest, everyone is going to have something different to say. My best advice is just pick one and give it a try for a few days and see how you like it. If you don't like it (or even if you do!) try another, and see which you like better...
Well, for GB I'm currently using Revolution RC1.
It's pretty neat.
Just one thing, when he uploads something, wait for everyone else to try it.
It seems like the roms always work on his phone and everyone else's just bootloops.
The current version is very stable and fast though.
For 2.2, dunno if you've tried Boinix NextGen v2.
That one was one of the best ROMS I've ever tried.
Not a single error anywhere and the battery was awesome.
for the 2.21 roms try Biwinning or V if you want to try a good GB rom try the Asgard Rom it is excellent
Hey vahdyx,
I'm a big fan of vanilla ROMs. If you're going to stick with 2.2 for now, I can tell you that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054032 is great. There are little bugs though, such as the dialer crashing frequently when editing contact info.
If you want a vanilla ROM with GPS and Swype preinstalled, there is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832532, but I haven't tried this one.
If you do end up using a 2.2 or 2.2.1 ROM, I highly suggest using the Bali kernel found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043947. This kernel optimizes battery life so that your phone will have an easier time making it through your workday, but is definitely not for you if you're an overclocker.
From what I've heard, if you are currently at 2.3, if you want to go back to Froyo, I *believe* that you have to ODIN back to stock first. http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/. Youtube is useful if you don't know how to do this.
Hope this helps!
I suggest sgs hybrid it runs really great its a 2.3 JVP rom and it has great speed and battery

Multitouch problems on Evo 3D with CM7 and Tiamat

On CM7 VALPHA 3 and Tiamat AOSP 1.1.0, I'm having the multitouch issues as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rz3uWFuDkI
Does anybody else experience this? I know it's a ROM/kernel thing, as when I had a different combo installed, things worked okay. Just wish I could get it working with this combination!
Yes Tiamat kernel breaks multitouch on CM7. If you use the stock kernel with CM, multitouch will work better. I use stock an it is plenty fast without overclocking. It's your choice. I choose a better working Rom over overclocking. If you can't live without overclock, then you will have to live with borked multitouch until Tiamat works it out.
Right you are, sir. I got rid of Tiamat, and I'm rolling again. Thanks for the tip!

Why do oc kernels break webtop?

First off let me say, I am not badgering anybody here. But my question is, why "in my experience" do all the modded kernels break webtop.....specifically the webtop statusbar?
I love flashing my phone and trying new things, but it seems that all the kernels break webtop. I have done the modded webtop (debian), and no matter what rom and modded kernel, it just dont work. When I install the stock AT&T kernel, everything works just fine.
Is it just me, or is anyone else having this problem?
FYI, I am running Darkside 2.8, webtopmod, and "stock" at&t kernel, and everything is working great!! Just wondering what is up with webtop and modded kernels?
My webtop run faster with OC =p

I believe faux123 fixed the issue in 0.2.1 of his kernel. Id try it for yourself.

When I was on Darkside 2.6 I flashed faux's 0.2.1 kernel and 0.1.9 and my webtop was working flawlessly.
Faux is working on it, I tested two kernels for him yesterday....still a no go. But he is aware, and working on it
Mine works wonderfully with Faux's @ 1.4Ghz

Have you tried clicking on the "upper right" icons for web-top panel. They were unresponsive. If they work for you, then you are lucky!! He is currently working on a fix for that problem. His latest "test kernel" fixes web-top panel...but he is still tweaking it.
I highly doubt your web-top panel was working on his 1.45 ghz kernel, when it wasn't working for anyone else. Check his thread, we are very close to a fully functional webtop/working oc kernel.
On the other hand, my question for you is, are you on a stock rom...ext3? I use ext4 roms and webtop2sd always force closes. I;m thinking it's because the rom I use is ext4....can you confirm? Would be greatly appreciated!

I'm on R-9 V5 ROM and Ext4 because all others gave me problems under Webtop2sd for some weird reason.
The top bar was working great until I posted about it yesterday lol.
Yesterday I was testing other Faux and Clemsyn Kernels with different OC speeds trying to fix my wifi tethering and now I notice my top bar disappeared altogether under Webtop! Even when I return to the Kernel I was originally using at 1.4 now the top bar is gone.
Don't know which kernel broke it.
Will be testing some more.
Cheers

Anyone found a fix for this yet? I am using Faux 2.0 (now 2.1, but my last test was with 2.0) stock enhanced and the bar is gone so it's pretty useless. Just bought the lapdock from AT&T for $50 as they clear out stock. Might switch to OC kernel so I dont' have such a laggy webtop, and maybe can install programs so it isn't entirely useless.

[Q] Best rom for the atrix ?

Sorry for the silly question, i just unlocked the new Atrix and im looking for good Roms besides Darkside, ninja, aura, cm7, neutrino and miui...
Anything good ? Is the latest ICS rom by jokersax good enough for a daily use ?
Thank you
Haven't been here in a while since my last atrix broke.
I flashed AOKP last night... Runs very well...

We traditionally don't allow these threads, because no one ROM is necessarily better than the other. It's all opinion.

what kernel should I choose?

What kernel do you guys like to use with jelly beans or any ROM for that matter?... I dont really know what the differences or have the time to try them all out so ive been using the stock kernel. If anyone could share shed some light on this for me that would be great. Thanks a lot!

Kernels are kind of limited in this phone's development, but very high quality. I would say it depends on preference. I have tried them all, perseus is a kernel that hasn't seen an update for a while, but is one of the only 2 ExFat kernels that allows for Overclocking to 1.8ghz. PBJ is another just like it by Imnuts that doesn't feature overclocking but Exfat as well. Devil Kernel is a kernel that allows you to flash it onto either an AOSP or a samsung touchwiz rom, so its very useful and allows for audio increasing and overclocking to 2ghz stable. To prevent this thread from getting locked on biased favoritism, Every kernel that is available is good, some have stopped development, and some get it every day or time its needed, try a few and see what you like.
