Best kernel for battery life? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Imoseyon's leankernel extreme or Bamf 4.3B? Any differences to take note of?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App

I installed BAMF 4.4.3 with BAMF remix 1.5 and Ive been getting about 20-25 hrs off a charge with normal use. ie texting, phone calls, facebook, foursquare, downloading the amazon free app everyday usually. Although I am in a 3g only area.

I had great battery life with Imoseyon's but my phone didn't agree with it very well. (had a few random restarts) I'm running ziggy's now and still have great battery life with no restarts (yet).

Excellent batt life for me with Imoseyon's extreme kernal on BAMF 1.6 Remix. My battery is only draining about 2.5% per hour with normal use on 3G (not in a 4G city).

Thanks for the responses right now I love imoseyon's 1.92x it has really good battery life and I still haven't tried the new Bamf 4.4.3 but I want to because Bamf has pretty awesome battery life.

instead of leankernel extreme if you want massive batt life go with leankernel batt saver you can go a whole day no charge now on your t-bolt and run very fast for the amount of battery life you get!

Battery life

I was looking for peoples opinions on which roms seem to have the best battery life.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I think all of them are about the same. xtrSense is nice if you want the stock feel but without the bugs or lag.
The froyo Roms get good battery life with theright apps and settings. If you go froyo o suggest getting toggle2g as it greatly helps my battery life.

If battery is such a big issue, just buy a Seidio 3500 mAh battery and you'll never worry about what apps and ROMs to use
KaosFroyo with CFSv5, Toggle2G, and the Collin_ph battery tweak. Getting 24+ hours.
Thanks for everyones input

Ok, downloaded toggle2g. Not sure of network settings for verizon. I have it set to switch at 50% but it didn't seem to do so.?

[Q] Best combo for battery life?

A while back when the Vibrant was solely on 2.1, I was running on Bionix Fusion v1.0 along with the JI2 modem. With that combination, I was getting some pretty amazing battery life on the order of 65% remaining after two and a half days of light usage. Now, after upgrading to 2.2 (on Obsidian), my battery life has significantly dropped—just idling over night, the battery loses about 15% of its charge.
Is there any way to regain that awesome battery life or is this just a side effect of having the latest and greatest?
All 2.2 roms are known for excessive battery drain

Just out of curiosity—will that always be the case or will things start to change as people adopt the new official 2.2 as a base for their ROMs?
Its because the speed boost in froyo, but there are plenty of tips on how to save battery

Not really.

Battery Performance

What is the best ROM in terms of battery performance? I'm running Bionix with Overstovk and battery isn't that great. I'm actually considering going back to stock 2.2 if it offers the best battery performance. Thanks!

Been asked many times. Did you recondition your battery? Your phone will vary on different roms. I would try a couple of the more popular ones and see.
You can also change it by modem and or kernel choices no matter what rom you choose...its all different for every one

I've been using bionix with overstock for two months now and have conditioned my battery multiple times.
You say modemm, I know KA5 is good in terms of battery. How can I install that?

And how is Stock 2.2?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I would check out the ROM called Toxic Heroes Presents Toxic FF SMoke. I have been using this rom for a few days and i can attest to the battery life. I got got 17 hours with heavy to moderate usage throughout the day and still had 50 percent battery life left. I have also had bionix and atriarc and both of them had gopod battery life. Also alot of depends on ur modem, kernel combo. For example i use the KB1 modem and right now have overstock 2.2 and getting great batt life.
Also i have used KB1 modem with supercurios stock KB1 kernel with voodoo on bionix v 1.3.1 and also had great battery life with it as well. Also depends on where you live as well hope this helps a little
If your jumping from edge to 3g alot that'll drain. Your battery. If you leave wifi on all the time and are going in and out of buildings or places in general that have wifi its constantly scanning and trying to connect. Hell, when im driving down the road mines trying to connect to houses that have it. The radio is a big thing though. (Or so I've read all over the forumns)

Best Battery life ROM/Kernel combo?

Which ROM/Kernel combo offers the best battery life? I could care less about performance and features. I just got a vibrant with a potentially borked cellular radio (will be disabling it) that will be used strictly as a media player

Toxic firefly 2.9 with kb5 modem and bali kernel 1.8.4, got 24 hours out of it with light/moderate use.

Bi-Winning V2 and Bali 1.8.5UV was getting me 40+ hours with light/moderate use. Trying DragonMODz SSJ-ULP/ZenDroid 1.3.4 and it looks to be even better. Still calibrating though.
Thanks for your suggestions
I got 40-48hrs multiple times with light to moderate use on bionix V 1.3.2 and nextgen v2 with bali 1.8.5uv. Testing it on Trigger now.
Anything with the Bali 1.8.4/1.8.5UV kernel.
I got a day and a half of use with Bi Winning V2(V3 Now) and Bullet kernel underclocked @ 800 mhz. Watched 5 episodes of that 70's show w/ wifi. Only thing is, the phone still flies.
Im using GB roms right now, and im very pleased with the battery life on M.I.U.I using Platypus Revolutions Kernel and the modem KB5. Im getting more than 15 hours, wich its great comming from CM7's 4-5 hours...
im getting great results with Trigger 3.2 and Bali 1.8.5 combo
Any rom not thats not ported. They use more battery. I used Zendroid rom and Bali 1.8.6 UV.

[Q] UnNamed battery vs ICScrewed battery

does anyone know how the battery life of the UnNamed ROM compare to the ICScrewed ROM battery life?
really? just try it yourself
ICScrewed 1.4.2 awosome bat life! Can't speak for UnNamed haven't tried it yet. Been on ICScrewed since I got the phone.
Sent from my Dual Core Monster via xda premium app
They should be about the same, unless ICScrewD leaves the SNS widgets/services in. If it does you can remove them.
ICScrewD might be slightly better due to being based on an I9100 firmware release, but it's going to be a tiny difference if at all. I9100 firmwares seemed to have lower idle drain than UCKH7, but UCKK6 might be improved in that regard.
Just try them both - the differences in battery life will be negligible if anything.
Unnamed rocks
note this is a old image i took a while back usually i get similar to the above screen shot with battery life

Geez, is that with heavy use? I can only get about ~15 hours before I'm around 25%. I'm running Entropy and UnNamed.
honestly that was from weeks ago i dont remember, just found my screen shot, i normally get around 16-17 then i charge soooo
My best is 4 days on Unnamed with light usage (some calls, text messages, gmail, web browsing, comic reading). Haven't tried the other one.

I have used both and think they are both very good. I believe I may have had slightly better life on UnNamed but not by much at all. I personally run ICScrewD because I feel it is a little smoother and has a better layout.
