I found my old SPV phone so I plugged the USB cable in into my HTC USB wall plug and it just does nothing, I've tried plugging it into my computer and still no joy.
Any suggestions? I've tried loads of different USB cables with no luck
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The SPL (and the batterydriver later in OS) only charge if a dedicated HTC charger is connected or the device is linked via Active Sync. Not sure what was the specialty of the HTC chargers - but I believe it was that some (usually data lines that chargers don't need) are connected and that pin 4+5 are as well (ground).
It would also need some seconds to revive the old battery. Lights will be red first and then step to orange when you can start switching it on.
Last resort: charge battery manually (any single element charger for Li-Ion should do).
Just to add: If you replace the original SPL with one that allows you to flash up to WM5/6, then also the charging will become possible with any USB Charger. If you want to keep the original OS you can also only replace the SPL - the device will still boot but not accept an original OS Update.

Hello,
I work in IT, and have been given two of these phones that both have their own problems. I finally found a disassembly guide at http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_star_trek/
The one phone has no charging port at all. The other phone has a broken external LCD screen. So I want to move the working external LCD from the phone with the broken proprietary usb port to the phone with the broken screen. In theory I should have a working phone.
Now I don't have any wall charger for this phone (blasted proprietary port!) But I have the usb sync cable that fits the phone. I tried plugging this into 4 different USB ports and none of them will charge the dang thing. I guess my question is, does the USB sync cable charge the STAR100? I have two batteries here that are dead (they sat around for months). I know my Cingular 8525 Hermes charges via the USB port (although that port is very flaky, I use a desktop charger).
So am I out of luck, or do I need to get a wall charger? I could find one at work to test tomorrow, but I would of liked to test it now.
move
instead of doing that, move the working control board from the one with the good charging port to the other one, it will be much easier and yes you can use the usb to charge.
Thanks I got it to work.
Today at work I sourced a wall charger. That made the LED light red on the phone, after awhile it turned orange, then green (after about 4+ hours). Now it appears to charge off the USB cable at home.
Now if I can only figure out how to get a T-Mobile sim to work in it, without paying an unlocking service (I have enough bills to pay with a wedding coming up this October).
Hi, my Xperia X1 does not boot normally. I did not mess with the SPL or bootloader. I made a call, put it back in it's pouch, tried to make a call a few hours later and got the bootloader screen instead. All software and ROMs are stock standard and was never changed. I started by reading XDA forums. The phone will power up to bootloader screen when switched on. Serial is displayed. Plug in a USB cable to PC and this changes to USB. The PC makes its sound to indicate a USB device has been connected. It then says the device cannot be recognised and removes the usb icon from the taskbar. Activesync, mtty, SEUS or any other software will not recognise it. I have since put RA2 on a SD card and updated the ROM. This worked fine. There is no way I know of to HardSPL the phone as it cannot communicate with a PC. If you plug in the wall charger, car charger or USB cable to a PC, the phone will skip the bootloader screen and switch on. The phone cannot be charged while switched on. No charging symbol and the battery will still run down. Switch the phone off and it will however charge. Anybody seen this before? Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks in advance
Maybe you should ask in the correct section. This is for discussion on HTC Titan not sony experia.
Plugged my usb cord into my computer and it says to be plug into ac adapter cause usb is not sufficient enough to charge. It shows that it's charging but when I lock the screen and didn't even touch it with usb connected to the computer my battery just dies and its set to charge only.
Sound like your computer's USB port is screwed up and is not outputting enough current to charge the device.
If you have a powered USB hub handy, plug it into that, or try another USB port on your computer.
I'll see if that works just weird though since I was using the same port for my previous 3 phones and they would charge pretty fast but not this time.
whats odd is my gf just texted me and said that her cable isnt charging her phone at all. i'm going to have to go pick up her charger and stuff and test/return it.
Prob , you don't have the driver's installed .
My battery reading is really inconsistent was charger on a outlet said 28% rebooted then said 78% rebooted a couple of mins later and now it says 60%

This particular phone may need the entire 500mA of current that USB ports are supposed to capable of supplying. The error on the computer may be because when the phone connects, and tells the computer that it wants 500mA of current, one of three things happens:
1.) The computer says no and throws an error.
2.) The computer said yes, but when the phone actually tries to draw the current, the hardware of the computer can't provide it.
3.) The Amaze doesn't ask if it's okay to draw 500mA (to which the PC may respond no), and just starts drawing the current, causing a hardware fault on the computer.
Your previous phones may not have required as much current, therefore not causing any issues.
I don't know this for sure, but I've done some programming with USB drivers and I know that "handshake" when a device plugs in, does happen.
Happened to me to. Same thing with the notice to use wall charger. Dumb. All my other phones work with PC. Just not this one.
Just had this happen, except...
* I didn't get the "you should plug into a wall" message
* Using the USB of the computer seemed to *suck* power from the phone; anti-charging, if you will.
I've got a wallcharger on it now. Maybe tomorrow I'll try my USB3 port for it...
The USB3 didn't help...
what drivers do I need to install? My G2 charged just fine on this computer.
What I have going on now is an older USB "y" cable for an external hard drive; one side of the "y" is data + power, the other is just power. I've got the "just power" side of the "Y" plugged into a wall jack...charges fine now.

Guys, i found the solution, by trial and error...
forget about USB 3.0, drivers, micro/mini USb, app tweaks, AC usb charger etc.... You know what turned out to be the culprit ??
THE CABLE !
I realized that this charging issue happened only when using the aftermarket cable i bought from ebay, as an extra one to have on hand. While the backup cable was also OEM. (i could tell from the corn-plastic bag it came in...)
And all along it has worked fine for data transfer, sync etc, and also when charging it does in fact say it's charging... - only thing in actual it's draining.
So i downloaded the 'battery monitor widget' and kept a close eye on the mA number as i tried out different combinations of cables, stock and aftermarket along with stock and aftermarket AC chargers i had and all USB ports on my laptop.
With the cable from ebay mA was rather in negative using with all power sources, including USB.
With the stock cable from the box, it was a steady +200 to +350 on USB power, +400 to +700 on AC power.
Now the after market cable is also OEM, but it appears to be for another HTC phone, that the HTC Amaze 4G doesn't accept.
Also if your AC charger is model TC E250 it's only gonna show up as USB and not AC in battery status.
You need AC charger model TC U250 for the HTC Amaze 4G to be fired up.
There! That was what was wrong.
Hope this helps.
Hey mates
One month ago, I connected my D6543 (i'm using a D6503 ROM, but half of D6543 users do this and do not have this issue) on charger and it doesn't recognized it, neither give a signal that its charging. Since this day, my device only chargers through magnetic port, and recognized my USB cable only two times during this period. Also, when I shutdown the device with charger plugged, it shows the battery charging screen, but instead of charging, the battery keeps the same level (neither the lightning inside the icon appears).
I'm using ExistenZ 5.6.5 (based on stock .291) and elite kernel v3. Already made a factory reset and reflash the ROM, but the problem persists (even with stock kernel). Also, I'm unable to go back to pure stock because my device isn't detected by my Windows 10 PC (neither by my Win 7)
Can anyone please help me? :crying:
1. Ask yourself, did you do anything that void the charging port that day when you found that you cannot charge your phone?
2. Did you tried to charge your phone with other cables or charger?
hello Forum
I own two identical LG G5 Android 8.0.0 smart phones, say A (working) and X (has issues) and several Windows 10 (1909, 20H2, 21H1) PCs.
Since today, I have the following issue with phone X:
won't fast charge anymore
is not recognized by PC/Windows anymore
To isolate the problems, I've performed the following tests:
tried 3 different USB cables to connect A to PCs
A is recognized with by every single PC/Windows
conclusion: all 3 USB cables are fine
connected A with USB cables to 2 different USB ports on each my PCs
A is recognized on every USB port
conclusion: all USB ports on my PCs are fine
connected 3 different cables to the same quick charger
A gets "fast charging"
conclusion: all 3 USB cables support fast charging
conclusion: fast charger is fine
Now the results with X, the one that has issues:
Connecting X to any USB Port and any PC with any USB-cable:
no "USB device detection" sound
no "unknown device" in Windows Device Manager
no "USB device not recognized" in Notification Center
Connecting X to the quick charger with any cable I get only a normal charging behavior even though the battery level is below 80%.
Well, luckily I own two identical phones, so I swapped the whole battery/charger module but interestingly exactly same behavior:
A wird erkannt, aber X nicht
A still gets detected by Windows
A still can fast charge
X won't get detected by Windows
X won't fast charge
Conclusion: the LG G5 Charger Module and thus the LG G5 USB-C-Ports are fine
I've also connected an OTG-USB-socket to my X and in it a USB flash drive and guess what: I can read the USB flash drive via USB-C port flawlessly!
IMHO something else is wrong with X which has nothing to do with cable, LG USB-C port, PC USB ports, Windows version.
I did not install any Apps during the night as I have automatic app updates disabled.
What could the issue be?
What else could I try besides:
rebooting without SIM card
rebooting without SD card
rebooting in Safe Mode
turn off, leave it off for an hour, turn it on
I did of course not factory reset X! This is the last thing I want to try.
i'm totally clueless

Dude you got any fix????
Exact Same things are happening to My LG-G5 toady..... No idea what to do now.....
No unfortunately not!
What I did, was creating a backup with LG Backup App, additionally copied all the data (never trust the rabbit) onto my microSD card, then removed the microSD card from the device and copied the data to my PC to have an actual backup! I still haven't factory reset my device, as I hate to install and setup every app again.
If you do a factory reset or reinstall a new firmware, please let us know, if that helped!
thanx
SAME PROBLEM HERE!!! FACTORY RESET DIDN'T HELP, ANY SOLUTION??? THX!!!!!!!!
