Galasy S II with TV antena? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Korea model only?
Look at video from 1:05

Amazing...koreans got it with nfc plus tv reciever built in....i wonder what other goodies went their way..

Apparently the Japanese version is going to have TV functionality, too.

i get the feeling that it is thicker i may be wrong though

It is thicker, 8.89mm, and thats largely due to the TV Antenna and not NFC. As it was mentioned in another thread here. (Cant Recall Which One)

[Q] USB 3G modem - will it work on Prime or TF300?

Simple question - any ideas?
I dot iPad1 3G but I need keyboard and something other than iOS and Safari.
Transformer (at least before Win8 devices) seems like a perfect device but I need 3G connectivity from time to time. I can do it with my phone but since it is ****ty ZTE Blade its battery is not very good.
If I could have an option for stick (where I need 3g for longer than few minutes) it would be great!
First of all don't knock the blade , that phone was amazing for its price and spec.
In terms of a 3G dongle i don't think the android os supports it yet.

Oh, I know. I paid about 299 zloty for brand new one abot 6 months ago. Since I do not call much I don't need anything better for my private use.
But that creates a problem with 3G Internet.
I think there's a thread in general that was about 3g modems. Someone got it working but he couldn't download anything just load webpages (and baybe flash videos but I'm not sure)

Thanks, I will have a look.

Is it Bluetooth 4.0?

I keep reading different things. Will we be able to just always have Bluetooth on and not worry about the battery?
From what I've read, the phone should have Bluetooth 4.0
I asked this same question on one of the Sprint forums and there's a mix of yes/no answers to the question. Took some time researching product qualifications from the Bluetooth site, shown below, but haven't been able to reach a conclusion about the EVO 4G LTE. The HTC web page for this phone says v3.0+ but then other various web sites show a mix of v4.0 and v3.0. It wouldn't seem like a phone has support for v4.0 bluetooth smart if finding the answer proves less than simple. I'm hoping the thing does support v4.0 and hopefully on Friday the 18th we'll find out.
The site is:
www[dot]bluetooth[dot]com[slash]Pages[slash]Product-Listing.aspx
Select Phones and then the manufacturer (HTC Corporation)
This site states it has Bluetooth 4.0

It's 3.0. Link on official HTC site: http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-evo-4g-lte-sprint/
I saw somewhere there was a device that plugs into the headphone jack and makes it 4.0

I'm honestly surprised they wouldn't put in the latest and greatest everything. This seems to be the one thing that isn't. Oh well!
Well I know that it is compatable with bt 4 cause all it is is a very very power efficient version of bt 3 so if we got bt 4 we could leave it on and never notice battery drain.

I would take that with a grain of salt as they don't list anything other than Wifi for the AT&T X-One nor that this phone has BEATS Audio, so I would wait for a dev or someone with one in hand to confirm or deny the V4.0..
Will
Yeah although HTC says it's v3, on the Sprint forums one of the techs verified that it was v4 so that's what I'm hoping for.
Root: Android unlimited
in my phones hardware settings it says Bluetooth is 4.0 so that's the end all be all answer.

Samsung MHL Adapter + o2 Note III

Hello there,
I'm struggling to find a solid answer for this.
I have a o2 branded Galaxy Note 3 (i.e it shows the o2 logo during the boot splash) and when i go to the MHL website it scans my phone and says MHL is not available on my Note 3.
I have read a few threads where people say it could be a carrier restriction to not enable it. I have the Galaxy Gamepad which is fantastic and i wanted to get this adapter to play the games on my 40" Samsung TV as the wireless streaming has too much of a latency issue to play games however i dont want to drop £20-25 for an adapter that won't work.
Can anyone confirm if there is such a thing as branded firmware blocking MHL / if an o2 note 3 will work.
Kind Regards,
Gav

Not really going to be able to comment on the restrictions for MHL use by carrier, but be aware that there is a lag when using these screen mirroring devices that is just enough to make playing some games very tedious. Fyi

Ok thanks. I did also want it for portability of playing TV shows and movies and stuff. Easy to take my Big Bang Theory collection to my Girlfriends house if i can just slap a HDMI cable in and play from phone!
I have a Vodafone branded note 3 and the mhl works fine so i'm sure it'll be the same with o2. And what's this mhl website you're referring to? I'm pretty sure no website can just scan your phone's hardware from the browser.

Hi thanks for that. I will give it a punt then. The website is meetmhl.com which seems to be an official site. I pressed the link that said how to do I tell or something similar and it instantly came up with a page that said your galaxy note 3 doesnt have MHL which shocked me as well. Im guessing maybe the browser gives out some sort of phone identity or something.

Hi. i've visited the site, and it's not up to date. None of the note 3 versions appears as a MHL supported device, but from my own experience with a N900w8, it does support MHL.

Quality Android 2-Din Car Stereo. Which is the best and why?

Okay the title may say it all but I am looking to get myself an Android Double Din car stereo.
I currently have a 6.2" Clarion and the screen size is adequate and it is very usable and I love the radio but I would prefer to have an Android stereo, possibly with a larger display.
I haven't made a decision yet and I'm extremely interested to hear from all of you to see what type of Android car stereo you are using and why you think it's the best one.
Ideally the stereo I would like to buy would have a 7" screen that is either detachable(and doubles as a tablet) or motorized with full DVD capabilities. I'm not super picky about the screen size. DVD/CD is not a real requirement but would be nice to have.
I do not care if it can be rooted but root would definitely be a plus.
The newer the Android OS loaded onto the stereo the better as long as it's stable and everything works as you'd expect.
I've already done a bit of research on these stereos and was leaning towards the XTRONS TD729A or this OUKU Stereo found on eBay but I know there's hundreds of different stereos out there and what better place to get advice on Android Tech than XDA?
Also saw the Newsmy NU3001 Android 4.4 Double Din car stereo. No DVD or detachable panel like I'd like but it does seem like a nice stereo. Opinions?

I think that radio looks nice but there's no way that would fit in my dashboard. I had to modify my dashboard to fit a double din stereo to begin with. The way my current stereo is installed it sits flush in my dashboard. It almost looks factory. See the photo attached below.
I'm looking to recreate that "almost factory" look again but this time I'd really like an Android stereo. That stereo you linked to would require extreme modification to my already modified dashboard.

And yes these stereos to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and with the correct accessories, 3G as well.
If the stereo has Google apps installed and is connected to the internet, it will sync most information with your phone.

This Sony stereo is not an actual Android car stereo. It's a double din Xperia phone mount that replaces your radio and puts your Xperia phone in it's place. As far as I can tell anyway.
I'm really starting to think that this one might be a winner.

Certainly the unit I posted before wins on specs, but this one is more good-looking, for sure... it seems nice. I can't understand why you said that the device with the tablet wouldn't fit in your car but this one would... both of them are 7", right?

The tablet unit you posted before has a much larger bezel around the screen. that bezel makes it too large to fit in my dashboard. Might not be the same for everyone but if you look at the photo of my current setup that I posted up above, you'd see what I mean.

The only thing I can see about that stereo that kind of makes me keep looking at others is the fact that in the item description there's no mention of the stereo having Google Play. Maybe it's been figured out in the xda thread I linked to in that post but without Google Play what's the point in an Android device?
EDIT-- Even though the website selling the unit does not expressly say that Google Play is pre-installed to the device, there are hundreds of posts in the xda thread that mention "install this from Google Play" or "install that" or "I installed this from Google Play"
I'm assuming that considering it is pre-rooted out of the box that you can either install Google Apps from recovery or that the apps are pre-installed.
Here's that same radio only it has 2gb of RAM.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-2-Din-Uni...05&prg=11353&rk=2&rkt=6&sd=271673297957&rt=nc
I confirm Google play is installed.
I just check one video on YouTube and I see the icon installed
And checking randomly in the xda post related, I see discussion about "where do Google play and Google play music install their files after downloading "
So definitely yes

Yeah I really think I like that unit. My only gripe with it is the lack of DVD capabilities which truthfully isn't an issue because it's been confirmed that you can plug in a portable hard drive and use that for movies and music just fine.
That and the damn price tag. For the model with 1gb ram you're looking at about $400 and the model with 2gb ram is over $500.

Enough of Google for me.

I'm really pissed of with Google, it seems that their ways to stop us from using what they doesn't want is by killing what we use...
My Nexus 5X already died into the bootloop issue, and today I've just seen that the Nexus 6P is having the exact same issue, which they say as a faulty hardware (Really? 2 completely different brands, with the EXACT SAME ISSUE? You must to be kidding me..).
This is not the first time that Google is killing what we use.
I'm a user of Miracast technology, since marshmallow it wasn't present, but you could activate via a build.prop tweak if you are rooted, in nougat they introduced a bug (yes, intentionally), that the phone will crash If you this tweak and connect to the tv, forcing me to buy their Chromecast 2.
This is not the only thing, have you ever wondered why the hell it doesn't has QI charging? To make us to use their "Fast charging USB C solution..
The Nexus 6 has also had something similar with it's notification LED, which can be activated only If rooted..
Now I really don't know what to do, I'm thinking of downgrading to Marshmallow before my phone got into bootloop, and not having another paper weight on my desk.
The only thing i can assure is that my next phone will be an Galaxy S8, and not another Google Crap phone.

I agree. It is getting ridiculous. All of the reasons we love the Nexus line are becoming blurry. Miracast is a huge one. Smart tv, Xbox One, and now I have to have a damn Chromecast as well. I'm starting to feel like Apple users must feel. Poor souls.

Given that the 6P has a metal build and that no other metal phones(from the top of my head) have Qi charging, I would assume it was due to the the metal build. And in regards to saying that they are just trying to sell "Fast Charging USB C solution", wouldn't you think that they would generate more revenue from implementing a convenient way to charge a phone?
Based on your opinion and what you had said, it sounds like the S8 is the perfect device for you. It's so great to have a plethora of device choices!

Google played a "good guy" comparing to Apple for a few years now, and I really saw this coming. Basically they're just the same. Profit, profit, profit.
You want to cast? Buy a Chromecast.
I really wouldn't be surprised if their Project Fi gains success, and they decide to lock their future devices to their own network.
Nokia years ago was really something else, but it was in the way of the American capitalism so they had to remove it from their perfect market picture.
