[Q] Help with gADAM or Home Launcher Pro Plus volume ctrls?? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Just curious if there is a way to modify the gADAM 1.3 rom to remove a few features. Specifically, the rom is advertised as a fix for the g-tablet to get rid of useless phone functions (I don't ever intend to use my tablet as a phone....) and I am impressed that the dock bar buttons are so easy to customize and rid of phone function icons. I REALLY love this rom but had to switch to homelauncher PRO rather than the launcher it comes with. Therefore, I am not certain if my issue is with homelauncher PRO or with gADAM 1.3...
That all out of the way (I am long-winded; sorry)... from homelauncher PRO main widget screen, when turning the volume up or down, it says "Ringtone volume" when I push the volume buttons... I want those buttons to modify the media volume, or perhaps ALL device volumes (notifications included). Instead, I have had to navigate through all the settings and mess with volume controls in there rather than simply using volume -/+ buttons. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, thanks for everything you guys are doing. I feel like part of a tight group of friends/family just reading posts let alone if I manage to find the time and start contributing as much as possible CHEERS!

Using volume slider for other apps

Hello:
I use my XDAII for reading ebooks with, do we know of any way to be able to use the volume up/down slider on the side for turning pages with??
thanks
You do know that you can use the navigaion pad and press down and/or right to go to the next page and the up and/or left to go to the previous page, right?
Yep I know you can use the nav pad, but having to hold the right thumb over the nav pad makes grip a little uncomfortable.
If the volume slider could be used it makes for a more comfortable and natural grip on the unit whilst reading as your finger is already on top on the volume slider (if you hold it in your right hand)
I would like to be able to use this too. Also for web pages etc. I am used to it after using my P800. I found Settings->Buttons->Up/Down Control where you can set the repeat rate.
It's interesting it's called an "Up/Down Control" and not a volume button, this suggests you should be able to reassign it.
Up / Down Control
Ok I've done a little bit of investigation and found that pressing the control up generates a 0x76 (VK_F7) and down generates a 0x77 (VK_F8).
Doesn't seem to be any documentation on this in eMvc 4.
Haven't really got time to write the hook stuff for this now. But might get round to it sometime if no one else does!

I have to agree with icarusbop. I also read a lot of eBooks and would love to have the ability to use the slider to navigate between pages.
I don't know how to do it but it certain is possible to get the volume control slider to do thing other than control the volume.
Why - if I have an appointment reminder flash up I can use the slider to change the 'snooze' time. I don't know if this is standard within pocket outlook as I use Pocket Informant 5 it could be restricted to this only.
I would guess that someone with a bit of programming knowhow could write a program to enable the slider to change pages, but all I know is that I couldn't easily.
Very interesting observation, mate. Did you contact Alex Kac (CEO of WebIS) about it? He may be ab le to provide a clue how to programmatically access the sliders then...
use this hack to remove default mapping (changing sound volume) of side slider. And then try to map it in desired application (it must be able to handle hardware buttons with 0x75 and 0x76 vkey codes. Shurely works with Haali Reader on F6 & F7 buttons).
Support of mapping in probably any application as well as a mapping slider to launching applications, using default "buttons" control panel applet is in development and will be introduced in next version.

Does this App exist?

Id love to be able to control my android music player without having to switch out of the calendar or browser or whatever im working on. As of right now, to perform this multitasking, I hold the home button down for frequently-used applications, or pull down the notifications bars, and switch completely to the full music player before changing my song/volume and then returning back to what i was doing before. I suppose I could use a widget, but that would require going back to the homescreen.
Is there an implementation similar to the Apple iPhone that allows "pop-up" music controls in android? For those unfamiliar with iPhone OS, double tap the home button and a miniature control window pops up in front of what you are doing, letting you control very basic functions of the music player like volume and forward/reverse/play/pause. I'd love to have this functionality, as I am always listening to music when on my mobile.
Does this app exist? If not, this would be a great idea for the many devs who frequent this forum *wink-wink*
Not be rude, but if you added more into title then Does this app exist, more people would probly help you.
But your question, I wish they had something like that too i dont know of any.
I have always hoped that Android device would provide an extra button or extra gestures for which users would be able to assign arbitrary actions, actions menus or apps.

Couple of themeing questions.

I'm currently using launcher pro plus and while I'm aware that there is no shortcut support (unless you are using froyo) I had read that it was possible to switch the dock functions by first setting their gesture, then opening a different launcher and editing a file with root explorer then rebooting.
Every time I do this, launcher pro still edits the file (located in /data/data/come.fede.launcher/shared_prefs). If anyone knows of a different way to do this, or if I am just missing something I'd like to know.
Also, I have been working on an application for a while that was a hybrid of google gesture search and the gestures in dolphin browser, I finally got the app to be able to map not only application openings but functions like volume up and down and back and menu.
A) is there a way to give this app a perma-soft key similar to the one in dolphin
B) is there a way to make the notification bar disappear when this app is running, so that in all other apps the notification bar is also gone.
C) I'd actually prefer to a softkey a long home press to open it up...maybe...or the option to pick. I cant for the life of me make the nook respond to a long n click...and I dont really wanna remap the volume buttons.
I am considering just mapping a button from soft keys to the app as of now, and then try to make it not so bandaided...but hell doing anything on the autonook is just kinda lame.
There was a suggestion a while back to install launcher pro on an android phone and set it up accordingly. Afterward, back your launcher pro settings. Launcher pro will back up to sd card and you can transfer to the nook

I actually did everything suggested in that thread, and the only thing that came close to working was pulling it from my phone, but even that resets after a reboot...my ONLY thought is that it may have something to do with the kernel I'm running...maybe...maybe?

Capacitive buttons thought

Would it be possible that once community ICS ROMs start getting released like AOKP, and CM9, would the capacitive buttons be able to be disabled and then replaced by on screen buttons? I was having this thought because it doesn't have any physical buttons so it wouldn't be much of a big deal in terms of removing a physical key, it just removes redundancy.
I'm sure it's possible. I know that devs made the option available on Nexus S ICS ROMs, so I'm sure we'll see it on the Note ICS ROMs as well.
OMG...this would make using the S-Pen much more enjoyable. I the gestures...AKA pushing the button.
How hard would it be to implement? Would apps conflict? or is it just a simple deletion of something in system to make the buttons rendered useless? Could we permanently(untill we flash a ROM with them enabled normally) change the function to a notification light bar?
You can enable the on-screen buttons in ICS on the Note. I am not running ICS any longer so I can't remember if you can disable the capacitive ones but you can definitely enable the on-screen ones.

I use my Nook Colors all with Button Savior to simulate hardware buttons that do not exsist and very very rarely run into any issues. There's always the little itty bitty tab on the side that you tap to pop up the needed buttons, but stay out of the way the rest of the time. Link above goes to market (refuse to call it play, so stupid), you will need to have root to use it of course. Give it a whirl if you want on screen buttons. Not sure how to disable the hardware buttons yet, although a google search may reveal someone whos already done it or even an app that will do it for you.

Gestures and Input - sound settings?

Hey guys,
My problem: I have an S7 edge, and the case that I got for it makes it a pain to use the volume buttons.
My solution: Use nova launcher prime to set a gesture to open volume settings.
I cannot find any way to get to the volume settings using the nova launcher. There are A TON activities you can go to, but I can only find "sound and notifications", which is ok for now, but still have to click "volume" afterwards. With so many options, I am sure there is a way to pull this off, curious if any of you lads have had any luck with this sort of thing.
Cheers,
- Patrick

I have a set up where I use this app >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures << and I point it towards a Tasker profile I made.
So basically with one swipe even on lock screen I can change the volume to any predefined level that I have made in Tasker. The beauty of this is I can use it with any launcher even stock and also change volume levels from the lock screen without opening my phone.
More information please
You'r solution sounds great. I have downloaded tasker and the gesture app, but it is definitely not a strait forward system.
Hate to be a bother, but if you could give a bit more detail on how to set up your system I would appreciate it!

Tasker as a bit of a learning curve basically you need to create a task under the Task settings press + sign at bottom of screen and name your task (Example loud or silent) Then press the + sign at the bottom of the screen and select Audio from there you can select many different options ie Ringer volume Notification volume System volume etc.
Once you have created you task save it then use the "All gesture" app to select the Tasker task you made under shortcuts and then assign it to a gesture ie corner of screen etc.You can then set up multiple tasks to different corners of your screen.
Sorry this is only a basic guide Tasker as many more features you can use but as I said its a bit of a learning curve (But worth it)
Thank you

Thank you,
This worked quite nicely.
I set my bottom left and right corners to high volume and mute.
This does the trick for now, would love to figure out a way to have a gesture open the quick volume menu which hovers over the screen, and shows the 4 volumes to adjust.
Thank you again!
Try Swiftly switch
Too much feature compare to your need but you may like it
