Hope dis helps ya...
Happy recovering..!!!!!!
Hey dont worry,I had the same problem while trying to install custom recovery by the new method mentioned ( using terminal emulator). I just used KDZ to bring up my phone back to life, just follow the instructions mentioned while using KDZ and your problems would be solved. Just use the latest v10E ( In India ) or something.

Guys thanx to all.... i did that atlast ...my phone is unbricked.....some few more doubts....my phone rebooted before KDZ completing the process and phone came stuck in a warning symbol...so i removed the USB and removed the battery ...again turned it ON...now it booted normally...bt with all my previous settings without any change...its wonder that the pattern also remains the same which was i set before bricking.....after 2-3 minutes...KDZ showed some errors and showed its finished...even i didnt connected my phone to computer...so is my flashing is over??? or any problem still pending???
Keep in mind that you should never unplug the usb while updating the firmware using KDZ...Now your phone is back running so enjoy that....Try installing custom recovery using adb..That works flawlessly for everyone...Happy rooting..

Custom recovery is only required if u intend to use Custom ROM on your phone. That is customised OS programmed by the developers other than LG. If u want to know about the next step to do that use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038338
You want b able to flash anything without custom recovery.
If you can wait few days you will be able to install custom cloakwork recovery by mik directly from rom manager app, without doing any shell command stuff.
As kaush is going to support our device soon as said by mik.

I created a faulty boot.img file for partition mtd0 and flashed it. Now I'm stuck on the LG logo screen. I have a backup of the original boot image. But how do I reflash it? I can't access from adb shell obviously... Please help. My phone is an LG Optimus S LS670. I appreciate any help.
Take a look on [ROMS] Original LG Firmware list but instead of P500 for search use link for LS670 (....ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LS670) and continue by next steps. It should works.
Thank you for your timely response. I've done what you said but the links appear to be invalid. I made the links below according to this: csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LS670.
Code:
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LS670/ASPRCQ/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LS670/ASPRPP/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz
Do I have something wrong here? These appear to be the only possible links. I'm also a bit skeptical of this working. I'll try anything of course. But I say that because windows doesn't seem to recognize the USB device without error. I did, however, find the source code for the LS670. You go here: lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource.jsp and search "LGLS670". Is this for the firmware or just Froyo Launcher? I'm also wondering how, after I compile it, I convert it to the kdz filetype (or is it just a matter of changing the extension?).
Take a look on Preferences => Information about phone => version of software. What version is there? Maybe is different like P500 have (V10x).

I can't do that. The phone won't boot up at all. This is all the information I can get because it's on the back of the phone inside the battery casing: model, fcc id, meid dec, meid hex, s/n, and the fact that it was made in Korea (yay?). There is also a little thing in the corner that is labeled V00E. Maybe that's it?
Update: I checked on my brother's phone which is the same as mine.
Code:
Model: LS670
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: LS670MV9_6040
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2
Build Number: FRG83
SW Version: LS670ZV9
OK, PM me S/N, I can find right, last KDZ file for your device by this number. You can find it on back under battery.
S/n: 011kpxv0311258
So, you can dwnl: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=A00000284EEC0A
anyway, now I know, why we weren't be able to download kdz - because it simply doesn't exist and it have absolutely different name.... http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGLS670/ASPRCQ/LS670ZV9_20/LS670ZV9_20.S9_20.P60671.cab
I will take a look, how to use cab's...
//Edit:
Ok, I'm not sure with it, but it should work also with .cab in KDZ_FW_UP. Unfortunately I can't test it....
You need KDZ_FW_UPD_EN. Get the stock ROM for your model and boot it into emergency mode. from KDZ select 3gqct then emergency mode and select the patth to your .kdz file. click Launch software update and let it run its course.

I downloaded the cab file. You have to change the extension to "kdz" and then when you launch KDZ_FW_UP, the mode has to be set to CDMA. It will successfully extract but it doesn't find my phone.

Well, I took it to sprint and they (luckily) gave me a new phone. Well, I bricked this one as well. Except now I have the stock recovery screen. It works if you set the mode to CDMA and DIAG. Just to let people know. Not sure if it'd work without the recovery screen or not. I never tried it ironically, haha. Thank you guys.
No luck
Currently my phone boots to either the LG splash on normal boot or black screen when going into recovery mode.
When I follow the steps from either screen this is what I get:

I didn't buy it new but the local sprint store is letting me replace with a refurb for $35 so I think I'm headed in that direction unless anyone else has any suggestions. Thanks!
Its better to spend 35$ than wasting months on a brick.

You probably just have a bad driver. I would uninstall all the drivers for the phone. In device manager, you'll find them in three sections: adb interface, usb, and modem. Then reinstall them from LG mobile update without your phone plugged in. Hope all goes well.
If it doesn't go well, go to sprint and tell them it messed up when you were accepting an OTA update. Or just pay $35...
help for you
Hi
If you haven't solved yet your problem.
I had the same problem and i tried the same prg like they recommended you but with no luck
so here what you can do:
1. you download the update program from lg's official site, and it will flash your phone with the official firmware
or
2 you reset your phone like this:
- remove battery, put it back
- press home+volume_down+power_off and count slow until ten, its better then actually wait cuz you will let go before 10 sec believe me )
but you loose everything on the phone memory i hope you have a backup.
hy.... i have a big problem.. after flashing my phone whit CyanogenMod beta6.5.8 ...and now its stuck in airplane mode... and i can turn it off :-| ....can some one help me ?
which rom wer u using previously ?
If u flashed cm7 over official GB,u have the wrong baseband version.
If you have flashed CM7 on gingerbread(2.3.3) then go for downgrading baseband to v10
follow : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504

While you wer using lgmdp
Did you back up your nv correctly ?
Check if your imei is visible ?
i`ve come back whit some screenshots..... i`ve try and the 20G baseband.. but no result
now ..a new error ...air plane mode is off but when i whant to search neatwork... an error msg apears "error while searching for networks.. " ....
First of all this is a old baseband rom so ffs don't install the new baseband. If it didn't work u are not doing something right pls refer to proper guides. T works for more than 100users so it had to be u doing something wrong somewhere
i belive its a problem whit the phone...on the sim card i have pin code.. but when i start the phone... it doesn't ask me the code...
I think you messed up with your nv.
Do you have backup of nv ?
If you dont know what is nv..
When you used lgmdp the folder in which lgmdp.exe was there there should be a folder with your imei as folder name, that folder has nv file inside , once check it.
I think you are using mik's rom right then flash v10 baseband .
when i start the update the phone dosen`t start... wass stuck in lg mode and rebooting every 2 sec... i have put the phone in recovery mode and i started the flash whit lgmdp... the folder whas created..but whit the name "NOT_ACTIVE______" .... now i have flash whit the original software 20h... but same... air mode active .. and no sim

Did you backup nv from lgmdp before flashing ?
Do you have any where ".nv2" or filename starting with "NV" file stored ?
Did you check what is there in "NOT_ACTIVE__" folder ?
If you lost your nv file
then download nv file creator : http://www.mediafire.com/?zqmmjvhzayj
Remember you are creating an illegal imei which is a crime in your city using this method, but your gsm will work.
1. Extract it to a folder
2. Now open LG - KS20 NV2 - QCN TOOLS.exe
2. in imei "####..." place type any number "1234.."
3. then make a "branded nv2"
4. Then click "make it"
5. you will find "357323-01-1234...-X-branded.nv2" file created in the same folder.
or
you can also follow guide "DOC_EN.pdf" in extracted folder at page number 5, "How to create a branded or unbranded NV2 or QCN file"
Now to flash this nv file with lgmdp follow guide "DOC_EN.pdf" in extracted folder at page number 8, "Inject a nv2 file".

Your bootload is locked? What is your last firmware version?
If you're on JB, offline flash may not work in S/W update mode. You need to turn on your phone, put it in LG software mode and select DIAG mode instead of EMERGENCY in flash tool.
If your phone cannot boot up, try this 2 options
1. Load lg mobile support tool from lg website and boot your phone to S/W update mode select recover phone then wait about an hour or two. (if this tool cannot recover your phone maybe it hardware problem)

2. Flash ICS x-loader / u-boot with Lelus fastboot at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292828. After that try to flash your phone by offline method again in S/W update mode.

(if this tool cannot recover your phone maybe it hardware problem)
or
2. Flash ICS x-loader / u-boot with Lelus fastboot at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292828. After that try to flash your phone by offline method again in S/W update mode.

I flashed lelus firmware correction and it worked. Then, I flashed the T-Mo V20D_00 to get me back to square 1. The phone is rooted and unlocked, but when I run the fastboot flash, I can't figure out the correct path to the .img saved on the external SD and when I try to use the tool, it tells me there is a communication problem...confused.

Your phone bootloader is lock or unlock? You said that you try to flash V20B to unlock bootloader so I assume that your bootloader is lock. If so you cannot flash recovery in fastboot. You need to use offline flash V20B/V20C kdz and try to unlock bootloader first.
If you flash ICS u-boot / x-loader successfully, you should able to offline flash kdz pass that error.
Gave it a shot
I reinstalled lelu's ICS uboot...ect and tried to offline flash both V20D_DEODEX.kdz and V20B_00.kdz; continue to get the following msg:
Problem with communication between the cell phone and PC
Please disconnect the cable from your cell phonein order and remove and connect the battery.
Power on your cell phone and press the retart button to resume update.

I've tried it in both diag and emergency modes in type 3gqct; usb file transfer recognizes the device but LG sw mode apparently does not.

Got the files on a google search for V20 open europe, and I've flashed the V20F successfully at least once before. Do you know of any reputable links for this download?

kdz filename should be in format V20B_00.kdz, all capital characters. You should download kdz file from LG server or thread in L9 general forum and make sure that it's md5 is matched.
For offline flash DIAG mode is used only when you can turn you phone on. EMERGENCY is used when your phone is in S/W update mode. After you flash ICS x-loader/uboot, your computer still cannot detect your phone in s/w update mode?
If all don't work, I recommend you to use LG mobile support tool to recover your phone.

Nothing has changed with the switch from the desktop to the laptop. Computer still recognizes the device is connected but the R&D Test Tool cannot see it connected; both remote server and Tool running as administrator.Laptop is 32 bit, desktop is 64. Ive even tried the different modes with failure on each. I'm going to attempt to flash V20F_00 again and determine whether it is a software problem with the .kdz or I might possibly have to master reset the device.

Multiple failures with multiple .kdz files which I have used successfully before, a new usb cord, master reset, and on multiple computers, and still the R&D Test tool tells me it has a problem with communication between the phone and the PC. Don't know what to try next?

Just want to make sure that you do recover your phone in S/W update mode. Not LG Software mode.
You can enter S/W update mode by
- Power off your phone
- Remove battery
- Hold down Vol+ while connect usb cable, wait about 5 sec. S/W update screen will show up
