[Q] Problem with connection to PC - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My LEO can't connect to PC, even in trasnmitting data mode. The only way to do this is start phone in bootloader mode, and then upload ROMs via cabel. I've tried to upload few ROMs including orginal ROM. What is more when sb's call me automatically is turning on handsfree mode. Active Sync in working via bluetooth. Please help me.

What OS is your PC?
You need Windows Mobile Driver if you use win vista or win 7, if XP, use Active sync. Download it from Microsoft website.
If you already has that driver, try to run in Admin mode (Vista and 7) or else try different USB port, or even change the cable.
Good luck

connetion has worked properly before. I've installed all needed stuff, and I've checked on other cable, other OS and PC. Transmittig data mode ist'n worked too. Connection is working only in BL mode.

Always going to handsfree when call comes in can somwtimes be associated with faulty USB. There's a thread somewhere called "stuck in car kit mode".have a read, see if the symptoms match. In the meantime, try giving the USB port a clean with a (very dry!) Toothbrush.

installing a rom without activesync

I have a cingular wizard with WM6 TNT 1933 (Build 18533.0.7.0) w/ TouchFlo. My battery recently died (thought it was bricked for a while, then tested the battery and bought a new one). My wizard won't connect to activesync through a usb cable(I have the advanced network checked OFF), and I don't have a bluetooth adaptor on this laptop. I have wifi here. First off I want a different OS because this one is too loaded and there isn't enough free memory, a bunch of apps I don't need. Also I'm wondering if a new OS will let me connect to activesync. Is there anyway to load one onto there, or am I just F'd?
is the phone operational now?
im sure that sktools had a repair activesync option then you can flash whatever
Bluetooth
You can use bluetooth to connect with activesync

However ROM flashing must be done by direct USB connection, you didn't read the question carefully.
If you start RUU and plug the USB to your computer, the RUU screen on your wizard should display USB. If this is the case, you can run RUU directly.
If that doesn't work, try it on a different computer.
what about flashing a new rom via bootloader? have u tried that?
Htc fuze (raphael)
I know this is an old thread, but it came up when I searched this problem. I didn't find a lot of info easily, so I just tried a few things.
Problem: Cannot connect to ActiveSync because phone boots into Windows 6.5 beta and is locked at the screen saying the trial is over. When connecting it to the computer, the computer detected a device but ActiveSync could not connect.
Solution: Remove battery from phone and re-insert. Turn on while holding Volume Down button to get into serial mode. When you plug the phone into the computer in this mode, it should switch to USB mode. This allowed me to run RaphaelWrapper and then repeat the Volume Down boot once complete and reconnect to load the RUU for the AT&T stock OS.
If your phone does not switch from Serial Mode to USB Mode when connecting via USB, there is most likely a problem with the phone's USB port or a more serious problem than described above.
I hope this helps someone else! =)

Help! My Atom Pure stuck in 'Update Utility' and not able to sync!

I'm using Vista to flash 'PDAVIET_ROM_WM61_OS20765_ATOM_Sonblack' but I was disconnected from Windows Mobile Device Center. Now my Atom cannot reset, cannot sync and STUCK with message 'Update Utility'!
Please help me to get back my Atom!
Thank you so much!
Use rec + camera + reset button.
In DM mode choose Exit DM.
weird! it works on winXP but not in Vista!
anyone know why?
Lots of things could be causing your problem. Here are some things for you to try:
1. MOST IMPORTANT: Make sure that you plug your device directly into the computer. Do not plug the device into a USB hub or other device. If you are using a laptop, do not plug the device into USB ports in your docking station. More technically, make sure that the port you are using is a Root USB device, not a Generic USB one. This make quite a difference in Vista, because locking your computer or having a UAC prompt while you are connected to a generic USB device seems to interrupt the connection.
2. Make sure that you have "Advanced Network Funcationality" enabled.
2. Make sure that you have the latest version of ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista). If you are using Vista, the current version is 6.1. This version has some updated drivers that seems to help immensely with stability.
3. If you are using Vista, make sure you have all the latest OS updates installed. There was a Windows Update sometime back in November of 2007 that fixed some serious bugs in the USB drivers in Vista.
4. If you have Windows Firewall Client for ISA installed, do a search on the Microsoft website for possible problems with interactions between ActiveSync/WMDC and the firewall client.
Hope this helps.

You must be careful with connection whenever you flash your rom. Never disconnect when the process is still going on.
This is what I think you should do to try to rescue your Atom.
1. Make sure that your Atom can really communicate with your PC. As long as they show that they're connected is ok.
2. Flash that rom again. This time please make sure that there will be no disruption on the connection. Don't disconnect while the process is going on or you'll have a high chance of transforming your Atom into a toy.
You have to follow the instruction and wait until the end of the process. I've flashed many roms without any single problem.
3. You better flash using direct connection. Don't flash from your SD but directly from your PC.
Hope this helps!

[Q] flashing HTC HD2 from TMOUS

Hey everybody,
I'm new to this flashing as well...
I have a Tmobile US HTC HD2...
I installed the HSPL3 after getting the Windows Mobile Device Center...
It was installed successfully, but after that whenever I connect my HTC to my PC, I can hear the ding but my PC is not recognizing my device and there is no connected icon on the HTC as well.
I tried all the USB ports and nothing worked. Without connecting my device to the PC you know you can't flash any roms as well...
Any help please...

Are you trying to do this while your screen has the three colors?
If so....does it say USB at the bottom or serial?
not while bootlegger mode. I used that for installing the hspl3.
my pc didn't discover the connected device and there was no connected symbol (which you get on your hd2 on the top right side, next to 3G n/w symbol).
when I connect, it shows that as a mass storage device on my pc and the safely remove hardware sign shows up.
I hope this explains my problem.
settings menu all settings connections usb to pc tick active sync untick 'faster data' reboot the pc, reboot the phone. Should be fine.
Thanks Sam, it worked. Unticking the 'faster data', did the trick...
Thanks again.

Task29 on a Mac?

Hi everybody, I recently got myself a Mac I love it but there is one problem. No WinMo Device Center. So to work around this I decided to buy Paralells (for MS Office and WinZip as well)... Anyway, after setting up WindowsXP SP3 and ActiveSync in Windows, all seems well. Well when I connect My HD2 to my Mac via USB (select to connect to Windows) it installs proper drivers and I can use ActiveSync normally.
But here's my problem: When I try to flash, it goes to the bootloader, takes a while but installs the drivers to connect to USB in bootloader, and on my HD2 it even says "USB" but whenever I try to continue the CustomRUU past that point I get the connection error. So I restart, this time going to bootloader first, says it's connected to USB on my device again, but again I get the connection error.
I know you may be saying "Why not just flash via SD card?" and that's what I normally do but I haven't found a way to Task29 this way, and I always do Task29 before switching ROMs. So if anyone either has a solution or a workaround, please help a brotha out! Thnx

[Q] ActiveSync doesn't work anymore

Sounds like USB port is broken.
Hi all,
I've read a couple of threads for several days now, but none of the answers worked for me.
Problem is: I can connect from my HD2 to my desktop PC (win 7) initially, but when I try to install a new ROM (3.14.407_2), my HD2 restarts, shows the four colour screen and nothing more happens. After some minutes, my PC tells me that my phone isn't connected anymore.
It worked two months ago for the last ROM flash, but now nothing helps.
Tried:
- rebooting PPC and PC several times
- deleting partnership and setting up a new one
- disabling "faster connect" for usb to PC settings - afterwards, PC doesn't recognize any connection at all
- hard reset on PPC
I have no idea what to try next.. I wanted to install HSPL2 and flash the ROM from my SD card, but can't install HSPL2 ... same problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Infyrana
I also tried several USB ports on my PC
You think the HD2 USB port is broken? But I was able to transfer data when connected as normal device without active sync.
Do I have any chance to check, whether you are right, without having to send my phone to HTC?
maybe running the update in compatibility mode will help?
I thought the microsoft mobile device center (or however it is called) was made for win7, as the actual activeSync tool cannot be used?
So I can't see a benefit from this, but anyway.. I will try.
You could try using BlueTooth with ActiveSync, thats what I do. I have a "micro" bluetooth adaptor for my laptop and it all works fine... just a bit slower.

the compatibility mode for the ROM update file could help becasuse it is a separate application (no guarantee though as I have no way to check it on my PC)
compatibility mode didn't help.
don't have a bluetooth stick ...
no further suggestions?
Just found out, that windows tries to install driver "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" when I connect my HD2 after starting bootloader.
But it just searches and doesn't find anything. I searched by myself, but didn't find the driver anywhere ...
if you are really determined to update ROM, find the thread on ROM 3.14 here on xda forum, I recall seeing guidelines on installing ROM from SD Card
of course it will not solve your sync problem, but still...
Yah ... I wanted to install HSPL2 to be able to do install the ROM from the SD card (at least that's what I understood - that I need that first), but I can't install it, as I already wrote.
I GOT IT!!!
Finally.. in a forum somewhere in a forgotten corner of the internet.. someone gave an advice to uninstall the windows mobile device center and reinstall it.
After uninstalling, I had some trouble to find it again, but finally got it.
And guess what: it works now.
Windows managed to install the quadcomm driver and I could update my ROM.
Never had such a hard challenge with my HD2.
Thanks everyone who tried to help!
