Exact same size, with mini pro being 9 grams heavier but a bigger screen, 3', the site has full specifications.
Both look pretty cute, they have not mentioned the Android version, I dont wish a new dissapointment because of the updates.
RAM and processor are upgraded only slightly. Doesn't this mean they could send an official Gingerbread to us later in the year (Q3 2011) when they release these? I just can't imagine the human-resource, financial or technical difficulties in sending an update to us of 2.3 since these new devices will start on 2.3...(exactly as we should have been on 2.1/2) ...

This is shameful on Sony...
They used us customers of the Mini and Mini Pro as guinea pigs to test their phones, and then simple dumped us several months later for much superior versions they could clearly have done in the first place (with not much of an increase in base price).
Been a loyal customer of SE for around 6 years or so now, but since the release of the PS3 they've gone SO downhill...all just lies, false-claims and betrayals of their loyal customers.
If you were wise, you won't buy this phone either..
My next phone will be a Samsung or HTC for sure...

10x optical zoom? the SD4500 is the thinnest cam I know of with that kind of zoom and it's 0.88" thick. and add to that a 2000 mAh battery?
We might as well just say that it's a hex core processor with an Nvidia fermi. Used by NASA to launch future satellites and 512 gigs of memory.
This is surely a concept phone. I don't think mobile technology has evolved to that extent yet.

since the trend in smartphone development aims at huge screens and extreme processor speeds I was wondering if anybody heard about possible Aria successors, that would be handy phones with decent specs.
I would love to see a new Aria, with a dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, a thinner bezel (like the Galaxy Nexus) but the same or just slightly bigger dimensions as the Aria.
Any rumors?

I loved my Aria. The weight was ideal but I had to have a bigger screen. It seems that the general trend nowadays it to get bigger and better. My example to this would be the Samsung Galaxy Note. The only carrier I know of that still has phones (new phones I might add) is SouthernLinc Wireless. Not to come off as advertisement but we just got a Motorola i867. 3.1" screen. Runs Eclair.
I really do wish that they would have an Aria 2. I agree with you. If they removed most of the bezel it would be a great phone. I still have mine even though I have since had a Captivate and now the Galaxy S II.
I am curious if some nice mid-range phones pop up at MWC next week.
Doubt there will be any successor to the Aria.

The HTC One V still hasn't picked a carrier but it will have a 3.7" screen and single 1ghz processor.

The Sony Xperia Mini (pro) devices both have diminutive 3-inch screens and pack a single-core 1GHz processor. They are interesting enough and quite inexpensive on Amazon.

I keep wondering...why can't there be a high-end phone with smaller dimensions. High-end does not necessarily mean it has to have a huge screen. Or at least mid-end haha. 1GHz is not too much to ask, and why not 1gb ram.

Im leaving Xperia Ray now because I did get a good deal on Xperia U. I have liked to be a part of this awesome community, and I like the roms alot. The reason why I bought a new device is because FXP discontinued Xperia 2011 development, and I wanted a new and fast device.
Im leaving as soon as i find good deal.
Reason is that i dont like this small screen and now i need at least 3.5 inch screen.

Why tipo?
I have a ray 2 month ago, but it was badly damage because it dropped from high place. I bought tipo just use to be temporary phone until I get new real phone. Just use about 1 day and I back to the shop and exchange with mini. Atleast mini get great support than tipo.
Looking forward on htc one x+ btw

Rumor has it that Motorola and Google might release a 5.9in Nexus code name "shamu". I am waiting to see if that is the case. About .5 inches too small IMHO, but might be something to look into if true.

I'm afraid that we have no better choice for the replacement. So for me just hoping that this ultra's battery can last as long as possible and whenever it doesn't hold any more charge, hopefully Sony still have the sparepart. Or you know, xperia z2 with modded 400 ppi would be nice.

I think the lenovo is the only real alternative. Everything else is of lower spec. But having said that the present ultra doesn't really need to be upgraded imo. Specs are plenty good enough to run everything I throw at it and never really feel lags as such. So why waste the money?! But then again even I can't help myself but have a change
