[Q] 50% of installed Apps not showing in Market - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have noticed after I installed the new version of BAMF (and when I did my TiBackup before installing it) that I am missing market links for nearly 50% of my apps. Also these apps aren't showing up in the "My Apps" list in the Market.
It used to be that in my TiBackup all my apps had the "M" icon (which means App+data+market link) but now about half of them are showing a smiley face (which means App+data).
Is there anyway to restore those links? In TiBackup there is an option for market doctor, but that seems to restore links from backups, if I understand it correctly.
I'd like to have the links to make sure I'm running the latest version of all the software.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. The following fixed it for me let me know if it works for you...
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > open all tab > find and open Market > clear data and force stop.
This should take care of it for ya! Hope it helps!

The key was the Force Stop. Clearing Data by itself won't do it.

[Q] Market Issues

So I have had my phone for a few days now and love it, no regrets at all. However, access to the market is horrible. I have limited access in a good 4G reception area. My web browsing is fast, I get over 10 megs on my speed test, but it's like pulling teeth to download from the market. I went back to Verizon and they pulled the battery and replaced the 4G card. The problem continued. They called their tech support people and they were told the problem was with the market itself; that the market wasn't updated for the Rezound yet and until it was there would be market related connectivity issues. Has any one else experienced this and are there any suggestions on how to fix the problem if its just isolated to me. Thanks.
I never knew the market had to be updated to include new devices... Anyway, the market will be updated in the next day or two to add the music download feature. I would assume the Rezound would get market support then.

Thanks for the info on the DNS server, but the l found said root was required to do it for the mobile data settings. Do you know of a way around the root issue and DNS settings?

I was having issues with market. Here's what I did to fix.
Open app drawer > tap menu button > click remove app > click all > find market and click > click clear cache and clear data... Should be good to go

[Q] I can't install any nonmarket apps.

Unknown sources is checked. When I get the black screen that has 2 grey buttons at the bottom, install and cancel, nothing happens when I press the install button. Oh, and I am installing vcast because I need it to update to 2.3.4.
Try a factory reset?

Titanium backup is a good choice. You have the option to backup all apps and system data, although I rarely back up system data because it could be what is causing the problem. Your contacts should be linked to your gmail acct but you can use any number of market apps to backup contacts, SMS messages, and call logs.

Have you tried to install more than one non-market app? The .apk itself may just be bad and not your phone. If a different app works you could try an alternate download of the VCast .apk. Id give that a shot before doing a factory reset.
Which VCast app are you trying to install? Theres a few VCast apps that shows up in the Market for me.

I am trying to reinstall Vcast apps, music, and video. I also need to reinstall city id, blockbuster, and vzw navigator.I'v tried to install many different nonmarket apps (amazon, amazon apps I've downloaded, emulators, etc).

System data is preserved in a factory reset, right? And I would backup to the sd card, remove it, and do a factory reset later, correct?
i had this problem before...two suggestions: 1) if you have screen filter app, disable it before installing the app 2) juicedefender app may be interfering with non-market app downloads, try configuring the settings or disable/unistall the app
1) did the trick for me...i hope this helped!

I'm sorry for rebumping this older thread, but to the OP did you uninstall these apps? I usually freeze them. If you did and want quick resolve just back up your data with Titanium as others have stated and then SBF. SBFing will bring you back to 100% brand new out of the box status. You can find info here in the General section if you uncertain on how to SBF... don't be afraid it's easy

Same problem on my phone cannot press install button, fixed by turning off screen filter app. Thanks for the advice.

I simply cannot express my gratitude enough! For months I'd had the same problem and had tried everything or, so I thought. After some serious googling I came across your suggestion and it surprisingly worked; disabling Screen Filter did the trick. At last I can finally enjoy installing downloaded apps at my leisure! It used to be the market would separate apps that were approved for auto update from those that had disabled auto update set. One could then simply hit the Update All (for the group) button and it would update ONLY the apps that were auto update enabled. Over the past few months Play Store has changed their behavior in that it no longer separates the apps and will only enable auto updates for everything or nothing.
How can I hide or otherwise prevent these few apps that I do not want to update from being in the play store update list? As it is now, I have to selectively update each individual app from the list, skipping the few apps I do not want updated.

Actually yes,... I think. I'd suggest making backups of your apps (TitaniumBU or other).
Open Play Store
Menu: Settings
Enable Auto Updates (Mine is set to when on WIFI only)
Go back to main Play store page.
Menu: My Apps
Under Installed, locate any app that you wish to change and select it, this opens the App Details page.
Menu: Auto-update untick the checkbox.
Still trying to confirm this condition: Seems that if you manually update an app that is not set to auto-update, it will possibly reset the auto-update flag to 'Enabled'

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I am kind of fighting with a similar issue, my problem is,
the apps I don't want to auto update are google apps(Keep/Youtube/Gtalk), which are replaced
by black counterparts from Team Blackout(with exception of Gtalk, I just don't like Hangouts)
and of course there is no "disable auto update" option with google system apps.
As of this date, I can see no valid option for selectively update the installed app catalogue, this
might be a decision from Google's part to push out the obsolete apps by force, which is understandable,
but I think there should be an option to have this feature.
Now at this point I am updating the apps manually app by app, and of course
with about 200 plus apps installed a complete PITA.

I found this thread looking for a way to selectively disable auto-update. I found that by going to the Play Store on my phone (under settings, I already had auto update on wifi only enabled), selecting apps/my apps, then choosing a specific app, then touching the soft menu key brings up a checkbox for auto -update. Uncheck to disable auto-update. This works for Google apps too like Hangouts, GMail (2 apps that I checked), etc.

Up until a day or two ago, I found the same thing - I could hit the soft menu button in the Play Store, and there would be an option to check or uncheck Auto-Update for that specific App. But I just checked again, wanting to take advantage of that, and it didn't come up any more.
Can anybody confirm that this functionality is gone again?
I'm on Verizon, with a Stock 4.2.2 Galaxy Note 3, non-rooted.

ETA: I rebooted my phone, and the ability to check/uncheck auto-update with the soft menu is back. Strange, but at least it's there again.

Hello,
I found this thread - title says it all.
I have Google Maps 7.5.0 installed, therefore it's listed in "Updates" all the time.
I do not have automatic updates activated, but i like to use the "update all" button in the play store.
Is there a way to disable the listing of Google Maps in "Updates"?

I don't think you can disable that display in Google Play. It knows what apps you have and will let you know when there is an update for them, whether you want to know or not! The main thing is that you can generally decide whether you want the update or not. I prefer it that way. It gives me a choice.

Yes, I like that it's reminding me of updates.
But the new version of the app is not working for me and if I hit the updated-all button on accident, I have to reverse the app again. Happens too often. Would be awesome to have a checkbox á la "Don't display updates for this app"

Yes, it did the trick for a while - and the app (Facebook app - the old version which did not have the annoying bugs) I detached from the market vanished from the available updates list. But the very next morning it was back in the same list :crying::crying:
That's right, it only works for a couple of hours. Haven't found another solution

I think I have found the simple answer:
1. In Google Play Store settings enable all applications to update automatically on wi-fi.
2. Next, individually click each of the apps you do not want to update automatically. On each app's update page, there is a menu button on the top right corner. Click it and deselect auto update for that app.
Now all these disabled apps will not auto update along with the other generally permitted apps.

[Q] Help Leadboltads virus on Galaxy S4

Hi All
Since a day I have a sort of leadbolt virus that opens my browser and shows the website like below:
ad.leadboltads.net with Top Apps/Offers of the Day
This happens when I download something from the playstore or when I delete apps.
It Makes crazy and I have tried some things alrdy so fix it without any succes.
- Downloaded and installed virusscannen, no succes
- Downloaded and installed ad detector, found a app with leadbolt, deleted it but didn't solve the problem
Hopefully someone can help me too fix this annoying problem

I'm also having the problem and have not found a solution yet.
The only difference for me is I have adaway installed so the webpage never gets to display. Just opens the browser.
I've tried different ad detector apps from google play, but nothing is fixed this problem. Almost ready to reflash the rom and start from scratch.
UPDATE: I fixed the problem.
When the browser hijacking occurred, it happened after installing or updating a program from any source. Google Play, Amazon or a standalone APK. That meant the virus had control over my installer.
Using Lookout's Ad Detector, I identified some potential culprits (Go Launcher EX being at the top of the list) and uninstalled them. That didn't work.
What actually fixed the problem was resetting the defaults for all the apps. Settings > More > Application Manager. Hit the menu key and choose Reset app preferences.
You don't loose any data. You just get prompted for choosing a default app when you run certain applications. I choose to use Lookout's installer instead of the default android installer when I got prompted to install updates.
Haven't had the issue since. Hope this helps.

Hi everybody. (First sorry for my english but I speak french)
This is a solution but it workn't very good.
After the downloading and installation from a update or a program, Androîd ask me if I want to finish the task with the default browser or Chrome ? So I can't see this f*cking page more but I must always put my choice between the 2 browsers.

Lookout Security & Antivirus found mine in ChargeBar Free Edition,
ChargeBar came embedded in the NottachTrix 2.3.0 ROM.
I installed it (NottachTrix) and it (ChargeBar) didn't update for 3 months, then, BANG.
I've deleted ChargeBar's update, moved it from system apps to apps, deleted it, and the browser pop open 'ad.leadboltads.net' still persists.
Lookout Security & Antivirus can not find the new location of the malware, they do not have a forum.
By the very definition and behaviour, this is malware, and, ChargeBar (Asgard Casino Apps) is involved in the distribution of malware.
Asgard Casino Apps distributes 34 apps that behave this way.
They are using Google to distribute this malware, abet, that app is benign in its origin, its a pipeline, or conduit for malware.
Sneaky F##kers aren`t they.........

Which application is still running?

I'm on ICS 4.0.4. When I used to repeatedly press Task Manager -> RAM -> Clear memory, I would get a notice that read "0 applications closed". Recently, however, it always reads "1 applications closed". How can I tell which application is always running? I have it rooted, but haven't installed any apps in a very long time. Not sure why one application is refusing to close. I have rebooted, taken out the battery, etc. but no luck. Just don't like things running that I don't know about, if you know what I mean.

That shows a whole lot of running apps, but won't tell me which one is the one that "Clear memory" tries to close again and again. Is there some kind of "Superuser" app that may be running to enable root?
