[Q] streak froyo 2.2.2 back to 2.2 - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've upgraded my streak to official froyo 2.2.2 and since I'm not happy with it ,
is there a way to go back to froyo 2.2

Download android 2.2, copy it to SD, rename it to Update.pkg
Then boot on recovery mode and select option 2, Update from SD (something like it).

THANKS. But would you please give me more details , 'cause I feel so stupid and I don't know how to do it. The real reason for wanting to go back to 2.2 is that I don't
know how to root froyo 2.2.2 . It's vital to me because changing the LCD I've damaged the Back and Settings buttons and replaced them with button savior app which needs the streak to be rooted. Now you understand why I am so frustrated with 2.2.2 .

There are many guides telling you what to do. People won't spoon feed you here.

theres an upgrade/downgrade thread in development if you have a look.
Yes actually I have checked it but it was for a att streak (assuming locked version) with diffrent builds than the streak I am using.... And if I am not mistaken I believe that did not have the appropriate recovery\stock 2.2 files needed.

if your rooted and have CWM, I would just flash a 2.2 rom...lots of choices and nero has been replaced by bionix v

Ok.. Thank you so much! This is my first time to upgrade my phone and im scared i might brick it...

I used the SuperOneClickRoot with no issues, just follow the direction to a "T" and you should be fine. It adds everything needed.

R2 Gingerbread Voodoo Issues

Dear XDA World,
I have just recently rooted my phone using the superoneclick root on my 2.2 Froyo Vibrant after a good month of research. Currently, I am running Eugene's R2 Final Gingerbread ROM, and I love it; it is very stable and intricately in tune with the Vibrant's functionality. Now, my problem currently is flashing to a voodoo lag fix (frustrating as hell). Anyway, I have tried the JL4 voodoo. zip, because that is what this ROM is closest to, I believe. When I copied to SD card, and went into clockwork recovery to install, it failed, saying, "installation failed," or something similar to that. I thought that voodoo wasn't working for some reason, so I tried to flash Nero v3's ROM: same outcome. If anyone would take time to help out a new user, I would very much appreciate the help. I wish to put voodoo lag fix on this R2 ROM, to be clear. Please be descriptive.

It might be the verification signature.
Go to clockwork recovery then go to install .zip and the toggle verification. Try now.

I love r2. I don't see the need for voodoo.

[Q] Rooting 2.2

I just recently updated to Froyo 2.2 (KA6) using Kies Mini. I have searched around on how to root the 2.2, but to no avail. I have tried using SuperOneClick v1.7 and it seems to not work when I try it.
Could anyone please refer me to a link on how to successfully root my phone or you can just show me how to do it here? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Just downgrade to 2.1 with odin then use Z4 root then flash rom that is 2.2 and ur good I recommend trigger amazing speed with better battery life then bionix in my opinion

I'm not familiar with Odin. Where can i download it and where to look for instructions for it?
You can use a pc app called super one click, i used it to root my vibrant after updating through kies. You can find it in the vibrant app and themes section.

I've tried using SuperOneClick but every time i run it, it says no space is available when it's trying to copy some files like busybox. Any idea on how to go about with this?
All the info you need is in the Noob Guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
Or you can look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
I've finally got my phone rooted. Thanks for the response guys!
Now on to finding a rom/kernel that has a long battery life, smooth, and gps works. Any recommendations?
Great. Sorry for the late reply but I just saw your pm, anyway glad you got it up and running.
I recommend trigger or the new 2.2.1 Bi-Winning Rom. I've used both of them and TBH the latter is simply the best Rom I've ever ran on my vibrant. Extremely snappy and very smooth.
I never had a problem rooting before but now I cant get super one click to work. I have all drivers installed but when I try to get shell root to get 3e recovery super one click freezes at waiting for device. I rooted using the update.zip format.
SuperOneClick v1.5 worked for me. Froyo 2.2, KA5.

How can i go back

How can i go back to my original stock 2.2.2 rom on my dell streak? I am currently running StreakDroid 1.9.0 and i don't like it. Can someone please tell me how.

Yes. I can tell you.
Do a search and read the other posts that have asked the same question.
Yeah I am a mean unhelpful person. But I search and read

Now that you are pissed at me.
Use the multirecovery tool to load the recovery that matches the rom you want. Put the rom on the sd card.
Now flash the recovery and the reboot into it. Then do the update.

I followed the directions that was on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000455
But im still back to the StreakDroid 1.9.0 rom.
What rom do you have on the SD card?
What recovery are you installing?
