Anyone know of a web clipping widget that works with our tablet?
Try this website, you can create apps for website (similar to widgets).
http://www.appsgeyser.com/
It is being discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056807
Unfortunately, AppsGeyser can only convert existing widgets to apps (so far.)
The "website as app" feature works pretty well, but I have been unable to clip any of the partial pages so far.
Web Clip Widget Trial claims to do this, but I have been unable to get it to work on my VEGAnTab yet. Installs and runs, but displays a blank screen when I try to set one up.
Edit: Mechanixone, I just realized you have already been to that thread. Sorry!

Hi,
This might be a dumb question, but here she goes.
The rooted Color Nook is my first android device, so I don't know much about how the system works. I'm using the the CN 1.1 -->> GMPower autonooter version, which I believe means that I have Android 2.2 (aka Froyo), but I'm not even sure about that. I'm using LauncherPro as a launcher/home page.
I've got quite a few free apps installed, which all seem to be working swimmingly. I've only purchased one app, which was Quickoffice. It seems to work OK, except that I can't get access to the bottom Quickoffice menus. If I tap the NC menu icon in the permanent black bar, I'll see a thin colored line appear just above it (I think that that is the Quickoffice menus trying to show themselves), but I can't actually see any Quickoffice menu selections.
I looked in the Quickoffice app description, and I mentions that it is for phones. If I'm not mistaken, the rooting that we do is taken from a phone environment originally. So I think (and I could be off base) that the problem is that the Quickoffice that I bought is meant for phones, instead of a tablet. I read in a couple of places that Quickoffice HD (which is for tablets??) works on the NC, but I can't find anything other than the normal Quickoffice in the Google market on my NC. It's either that, or I do have the right Quickoffice, but I just can't figure out how to get to those menus.
So, my question is:
Is there a difference between the Quickoffice and Quickoffice HD/Tablet?
If I have Quickoffice for phones, is there a way I can make it work for my NC (since I've already paid)?
If not, where can you get Quickoffice HD, since it's not in the market?
I apologize if that was impossible to follow.
Thanks.

Can't answer most of your questions but you can find QO HD by searching google for QuickOffice HD notionink for nook color. It's actually in XDA forums somewhere.
So, my question is:

If I have Quickoffice for phones, is there a way I can make it work for my NC (since I've already paid)? Once synced properly to Market you can downloan any app previously paid for to any device with your Google Account.
If not, where can you get Quickoffice HD, since it's not in the market? Search xda and web - its out there already.
Thanks
Good luck m8.
QuickOffice Pro
I'm running Quickoffice Pro on the honeycomb ... I have the HC running from an SD card per deeper-blue v4. I bought directly from quickoffice and then opened the email they sent me to load it. I can see and use the menu at the bottom of the screen in both landscape and portrait mode.
google quickoffice for link... I can't post links yet..
Could this be what you are thinking about?

I'm running my GTab using Vegan-Tab 7. Because of the screen size I decided to use the browser for accessing gmail and the other google web apps. However, I have formatting/scrolling issues with them. I've noticed this on a couple random (non-google) web pages as well though I can't remember them atm.
What happens, say for gmail is if I click on the profile dropdown the page will get too wide and I can't see the entire dropdown. The right side will be cut off until I reload the page. If I attempt to view the calendar I can't scroll down at all. If I use google maps I can't type the address in the field.
I believe this occurred in CM7.1 as well and using any browser (stock, dolphin)
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Were you able to tweak something to fix it?
When I have this problem with gmail, I zoom the page. Then I am able to scroll.
Not a solution, but a work-around.
You need to set your browser to view webpages either as android or custom. Right now, you have it set to viewing webpages as desktop.
@wasserkapf - thanks, that helps a lot for scrolling left and right...unfortunatly you still can't scroll up and down.
@goodintentions - ah, I see what that's doing... forces it to the basic html format. I found you can keep it on desktop and change google to standard html... but that doesn't help out with maps. Excellent web site btw... good background summary and nice list of resources. Really helped me out when I was getting started with this tablet.

Wow, a smarty... or should I say a smartass?
Hi,
I am trying out the Galaxy Tab and I find it to be rather nice to use. However, I have encountered an issue that I have not been able to resolve. I have a favorite web site that I go to at least once a day. It displays poorly with the text over writing other text, to the point it is almost unreadable. The default browser offers the option of Mobile or Standard. The site opens in mobile mode and so I selected Standard and the page gives we an error 404, if I remember correctly.
The other issue is, I need to open a link on the site page that displays a PDF document and another link that plays a MP3 audio file, while staying on the web page. The Galaxy Tab will not allow me to have both open. If I have the PDF file open, I can't get to the MP3 file. If I have the MP3 open, I can't open the PDF without closing the MP3.
I wonder if the site needs Java or some other software to make it display and function correctly? Any ideas what I could be doing wrong.
Strangely, My wife's iP#d1 handles this site with ease. Also, my Google Cr-48 handles it just fine. I am at a loss to figure this out. If I can't solve this problem, the Galaxy Tab goes back tomorrow as I am tired of messing with it.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've noticed a few pages the stock browser renders odd, such as quoted text here on xda. Opera mobile works fine, scrolls smoother, and doesn't have text input lag. I'd recommend it.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried Opera, Dolphin HD and Beta 6, Maxthon and of course the default, Chrome. They all produced the same result. So far, only Safari renders and allow the PDF and the audio file to run concurrently.
care to share the two sites hence we can try a work around. try typing the command about:debug in address and hit go. New options will appear in settings, try changing the uid to desktop and rendering normal and disable wide page display. Just for a try!

Thanks for the good tips. Those changes made the browser's display much better. It got rid of the garbled text. Question, will these changes remain after a re-boot or do I need to reset each time?
The other issue of not being able to have multitasking while on the subject site remains. The site that I am trying to fully access is www.torahclass.com. When I select the link to open the audio file and then open the PDF the audio quits. I cannot get back to the web page. If I am on the web page, I can't get back to the PDF.
I just spent one hour at Best Buy and they had five different phone/tablet knowledgeable staff take a turn a making it work. No luck! I asked if it would work on the HP TouchPad and their response was no. However, they claimed the multitasking could be done on the Playbook. We were not able to test their hypothesis due to the fact that the Playbook did not have access to their wi-fi.
So, I am beginning to think that this is an issue with Android and WebOS that remains to be solved by Google and HP. I like the Playbook, but I am concerned about RIM's future. Owners might end up with no support from the mfg.
Anyways, thank you both for your help.
try xiialive app, when clicking on an audio stream in browser choose to play with xiialive and once started press home and continue browsing with the stream playing in background! Issue resolved.
Works. Thank you.
I put some pdfs and an m4v and flv video on the device, organized in folders. I go in acrobat reader and it seems to find the pdfs, but just puts them in a single list, rather than showing the file hierarchy.
I would like to be able to browse the file hierarchy and touch a file and have it open. I have a lot of pdfs to put in the device and they need to be organized, not one big list.
Also would like to search for text in PDFs.
Ideally I am looking for something similar to ipad's Goodreader wher you can organize a hieararchy of mixed file types, PDF and video, and view any of them.
Acrobat reader and Quick Office seem to be a little slow to load. I am wondering if there is an app for this that is quick loading.
Any ideas?
Agree that Acrobat reader is one of the worst PDF readers all across the pad platforms. But unfortunately it seems that's the only choice on webos. Hope this wave of TP can bring some new PDF reader to it.
[Q] How to search through a PDF?
please excuse the question but I tried google a few times and couldn't get anything. Can the default adobe PDF viewer even search documents? If it can how the hell can I find the option? Is there anything 3rd party that allows searching through pdfs?
[Q] PDF Reading and Citrix?
To current owners, how is reading pdfs on the TP? Is it snappy like Ipad 2 and how about large pdfs like 100mb or greater? I dont really care about annotations.
Also does Citrix work? I saw an ad showing Citrix working. Thx
For the pdf file it's very fast and snappy, very usable, but only tested with a couple of 50Mo one, if you have bigger to test give me a link.
About citrix, take a look here:
http://forums.precentral.net/webos-development/190779-request-citrix-app.html
And
http://blogs.citrix.com/2011/02/09/...ake-webos-devices-enterprise-ready-at-launch/
Ok, I couldn't resist the temptation and got a Touchpad to play with. The two hospital pages where I use Citrix to access medical records don't work. The demo on Youtube looks so smooth . Adobe Acrobat on the WebOS is just as horrid as on the Android platform. There is no way, I can sit there read the PDFs in this condition. The letters all look fuzzy, and I don't think this is purely an issue with resolution and display. The software doesn't fully render it.
The good part is that flash works really well from the browser. Very well done. Also the cards arrangement of the overall OS is the best I have seen out of all 3 tablet platforms. It's unfortunate. I think it just take a little more work from HP to make it competitive.
1. A better screen. It's listed as IPS display but no where close to the Ipad.
2. Work out the small bugs in the WebOS
This pad desperately needs Alkido.

Not to the best of my knowledge, I've looked through every option and nothing. I also asked this same question about searching PDFs and never got a response. FYI I have a few 40mb+ pdfs w/ schematic drawings and it has the tendency of chugging along or even worse it loses the menu bar uptop where I can select pages from. I'll get stuck on page 230 out of 500 and will have to close the card down and open it up again to get the number list.
(I first posted this over at Pocketables, but think I should still share it here despite xda does not have a Tablet P sub-forum (why not?) )
Just by accident, I tested an apk from a friend, which was basically a hack to make it show 720p by default, not designed to run on Tablet P. But the strange thing is, it works, and not only that, it displays a split screen design that fits the Tablet P perfectly. I am shocked because both Sony and Google are denying Tablet P to have ANY YouTube app working. I even tried to transfer a standard version and it simply crashes.
Since this is a copyrighted material, I cannot provide info on the source. But the key search is YouTube 4.2.16 (v2b) 720p apk , which is how this apk is labelled.
I tried very hard looking for it, and came across it solely by accident, so I thought I'd share it here. Before this, I had to resort to using browser and Flash Player to get to YouTube.
Ironically, I still see referencing to YouTube on a related Sony web page on this Tablet P. So from the beginning, there has always been an intention to get this out, and not only that, a selling point. I have no idea why it was pulled. I cannot believe with the resources at Google (and Sony), they can't make this work. Many other split screen apps have worked for this model. And now this app works well, automatically comes up in split screen.
Anyone would speculate why there isn't an official one, now since I have found one that works (I have searched around, so I think I have found this, but if it is old news, please let me know.).
