As a Fascinate user, was planning on getting the Bionic as I was at first disapointed with Samsung's lack of support, issues, etc. But the screen, codecs, weight, and such all won me over, and I can't wait to get the SGSII. Hopefully its coming to Verizon with an Exynos processor and Mali GPU.....
How bout everyone else?

I think most of the people who have posted on SII subforum will be getting it.
Though if its delayed some might switch to a phone thats already out or wait and see what the iPhone5 brings to the table (which i will be doing if it doesnt come out this month or early May.
OMG OMG OMG...... so Excited

Hope Holland wil get it soon to, getting annoyed of my touch hd ...
I am still not sure{using N1 for close to 14months now},will decide depending on how well HTC Sensation turns out{announcement might come on 12th April}
LG Optimus 2X{already available here & is surprisingly cheaper than SE Xperia Arc & Xperia Play} vs SGS 2 vs HTC Sensation will be my choices.But right now my first preference will be HTC Sensation{aka HTC Pyramid}
I can upgrade any time I want to, so I can't wait to buy it when it comes out! I was a bit disappointed with the Tegra2, so right now is a good time to see the other dual cores coming out.
Oh, and the fact that Galaxy phones are made in Korea makes me swell with pride, so that's another factor in buying the SGSII.

I was an early adopter for the original SGS and got slightly burnt by the annoying lag with Samsung's official ROM. Luckily there are some great people on XDA and a lot of effort has gone into creating a much better custom ROM.
Although everything about the SGS2 sounds great, I think I'll hang back by a month or two until I've ready the initial reviews and customer experiences (hopefully benefit from a reduced price from the original launch price).
I'm definitely getting one, to replace a rather old Sanyo SCP-8400. I've had the SGS2 on pre-order since March 18...
I've also preordered mine on Amazon.de. I trust the xda devs will come through, as they most often do.
Cant wait to buy SGS2..
I cant stand Slamsung in my home but theres no way i can turn down this phone and buy something else...Samsung is nr 1 2011...No doubt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but HTC Sensation specs aren't better than SGS2, even though it's been announced after SGS2... Where is the NFC, for example ? What's really unique in Sensation? SGS2 has some cool gyroscope functions, for example.
Ill certainly be getting this device WHEN its launched......
The Best Android Phone will be mine on the 22August 2011
I cannot wait to have this super phone.
It seems amazing to me that all these so called reviewers and basically smashing the 3d basically bc those don't like it...it a feature..not the whole phone..don't they realize you don't need to use it ..Sam biddle on gizmodo say "why buy a 3d phone if your not gonna use the 3d?" Seems ignorant to me..I havnt seen anything about gpu performance besides benchmarks..how about how apps are playing and smoothness of games etc...these reviews are solely based on their dislike of the 3d feature with an added.."its really fast" thrown in there..its frustrating...I feel like all these people are so stuck on the gs2 that they can't allow another phone to compete..I'm tired of the 3d being compared to a phone that hasn't been officially announced in the us..its bs...I'm.gonna make a phone company and all I Need is to make sure my phone has the best benchmarks and bright screen and all the fanboys will love it regardless of quality/usability

Now is this the 5" screen version or the 15" tablet that transform into a 5" screen Super AMOLEd Qhd Screen phone when needed? I'm holding out for the transforming tablet myself.
Just because I head the straight phone version only has a 245mp Camera, but with so so sensors. but the tablet has 4 zillion MP camera but no one is sure about the sensors yet. But I'm sure it'll be better because it has more MP's.

Hello,
The majority of Reviews have been completely vapid. What seems so strange to me is that much like 3D HDTVs, where the vast majority of what is displayed and available is in 2D yet AV Reviewers do not bash these TV's based on the 3D experience.
I consider the 3D aspect to simply be a value added feature. With far more horsepower under the hood than the 4G and the same Sense 3.0 that got almost unanimous raves when the Sensation was Reviewed seems to be a complete afterthought to many of these Reviewers.
It is also strange that almost every Review took place in the NYC Metro Area which makes it difficult to gauge how 3G and Cellular Reception is going to be elsewhere.
And finally, whereas the 4G got amazing word of mouth by being given away at a Google Developers Conference, the 3D appears to be just released to the usual cadre of Reviewers many of whom seemed to have an ax to grind.
Cheers,
JJ

Have you had a chance to try this phone for a day or more? If not, why do you think the reviewers have an ax to grind? Why do so many others think that they have an ax to grind? It's not like they all say that every HTC phone is junk. It's not like most of us have even had the phone in hand. I just don't get it....
For now, I'm going to have to go with the reviewers thoughts and check this phone out before I order.... I don't care about the 3D feature, but I've seen more then a reviewer say the call quality isn't there and for me, call quality is the #1 issue on a phone....after all it is a phone. My 2nd issue is the camera and it's not looking good from that aspect either. 3rd is the locked bootloader. If HTC didn't have such good build quality and support, I probably wouldn't want this phone so bad.... Damn you HTC!!!

The announcment is a few weeks away. Nvidia did not even announced Kal-EL officially.
Which means at best i will be able to buy the TF2 next year q1/q2.
That's a pretty bad assumption. They haven't announced it. It will be at least a couple of weeks after an announcement. You can also factor in delays and such. I seriously doubt a release will be this year.
As far as I can tell, no company has even hinted at a Kal-El device for the near future.
And there will be delays... from both Nvidia and Asus. I'd be a bit surprised if they had released something before February.

Why in the world would you believe "some websites"?
The tegra 3 hasn't even been released yet. They've dropped hints here and there to keep their investors. But that is it. And based on history, these kinds of products are due for delays.
And don't expect the price of the TF 1 to drop. The TF2 will be $100 more.
I don't understand why people think the TF2 can come out in a couple weeks. Here's a breakdown of what's going to happen.
Nvidia has to actually release the chip. Asus engineers have to integrate it into their systems. There will undoubtedly be hardware and software bugs. They'll have to stamp out those bugs, or at least enough of the bugs for the system to be stable. Then they'd have to rush these new specs out to production.
You're looking at at least 6 months.
I learn from history. I first heard about a transformer-like device from asus in mid 2010. Just groundless rumors saying asus would "soon" come out with a powerful tablet that is different than any other tablets (keyboard dock hint hint). I waited and waited and waited... Then a year later, the TF finally came out. By that time, I had bought the a500.
So, again, what person in his right mind would think the TF 2 will come out in a couple weeks? I don't get it. Who started this ridiculous rumor?
tegra 3 is already a finished product.

Wait for the 25nm chips thats he next real screamers
Of course... they didn't get the whole "different" tablet thing correct either... Always Innovating had it first. I was going to get that tablet.. but it was so ugly. So glad Asus made it so much better.
Isn't the TF1 still selling really well? What's the rush to cannibalize the success of this tablet? And I very much doubt that the TF2 is really that close to being ready to release. I'm guessing no sooner than early Q2 next year honestly. Really, the hardware of the TF1 isn't really holding it back at this point, it's the lack of a lot of good apps/games/etc IMHO. I just hope that other companies see the success of the true docking keyboard form factor so there will be other choices and a continued segement of the tab market that the TF101 currently holds all to itself. I really don't need a tab without the keyboard - it is MUCH easier to use as my laptop replacment with the tab docked. Also a big advantage to double the battery life with the dock.... anyway, I am digressing.... I call April 2012 for the TF2.
whats with all of this hate?
I would assume the best guess being October seeing as the CEO confirmed the Transformer 2 will NOT be delayed as previous speculation stated. This may push to November with the announcement of ICS being pushed back. We'll have to wait and see. I just purchased a Transformer a week ago and am returning it to wait for this beast.

What are you basing October/November on? Even if the CEO confirmed no delays, you have no idea what its general timeframe of release is. If X = expected release date and Y = delay, X - Y = Z (actual expected release date). You're somehow saying X - 0 = October/November, while providing no info that solves for X. Like I said in my last post, Q1 at the earliest, with April being my personal prediction.

TF1 was first shown in CES January 2011 but was really available in June/July. Wouldn't be suprised if TF2 has same schedule for 2012.
in response yto the OP's original question...no one knows for sure. It's anyones guess. if the history of the Tf1 means anything it will still be a while. Not that I doubt for a minuite they might try to rush some halfassed product out the door in time for Christmas sales. It's a business and that seems to be the norm in the computer and or mobile industry ...correction,,,all industries.

ok here you go buddy. It was a RUMOR that the transformer was to be released in october.
google Transformer 2 coming out in October you'll get dozens of other sites reporting the same thing.
Also, a report came out TODAY saying that the trasnformer 2 was slated for a november 7th release date according to a UK retailer.(READ LINK FROM POST ABOVE)
I cant post links because i need atleast 8 posts to post URLs
How many fingers are going to point to this date? April? I'd put my money on november 7th. Much more logical then to trust some random kid on a forum going "ya i think its april"
Edit: i know that it is a RUMOR that it was supposed to be released in October but think about it. Why would the CEO make claims that the transformer 2 would not be delayed if their wasnt a "general timeframe"
Just my thought, market-wise, Samsung would give it a fair bit of wait until they release the official ISC for SGSII. They would give the market some time to enjoy the ICS on Galaxy Nexus. Because of the fact Galaxy Nexus hasn't got much improvement on hardware, it will loose the advantage on the market over SGSII if SGSII 's got official ICS. Of course Samsung wants to sell more Galaxy Nexus always.
just my thought.
Doesn't seem like Samsung will artificially delay it by much. Here's the official announcement.
http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=8894
Basically, expect it in Q1 2012.

Why would Sammy want to rush out the update when they have newer phones to shift. They're well aware, as are other manufacturers, that a lot of people will buy handsets with the latest firmware.
They've shifted a lot of SGII's but will want to sell more Nexus' and any other new handsets they have planned.
The majority of the members on here, come to root and flash the latest firmware and I'm sure there will some more leaks pretty soon, so I expect to have ICS long before Sammy update.

AGREED. agreed.
What is the fuss about ICS? Do you even know explicitly what it is going to improve? It's hyped up a lot.
Getting back to the original topic...
Let's assume that 31 Mar 2012 is the date that Samsung will release the official ICS ROM for the SGSII.
Isn't that pretty reasonable?
What I'm trying to say is if Samsung is indeed trying to delay the release on purpose to drive up the sales of their newer phones, they would have come up with something like Q2 or later.
ICS source code was released just in November 2011. Those ppl expecting an update by year-end of 2011 are just being unrealistic. The fact that Samsung came out and told us Q1 2012 shows me that they're working to give SGSII owners a timely update.
ics is coming

You know, I didn't think Apple had much to be scared of.. until now. Google is innovating circles around other companies, and is making Android one cohesive experience among multiple devices and breaking consumers' images of fragmentation. This spells huge trouble for Apple which has yet to release an arguably already outdated mobile device. Playing catch-up just got a LOT harder.
As for when we'll see it, who knows. I'd be happy with even a Christmas release but not holding my breath.

I don't know if it's just me, but I had a choice to get either this phone or the galaxy nexus and I chose the EVO lte because from what I saw on the nexus forums and reviews, ICS was a little too powerful for the nexus, which causes ICS to not run as smooth as it could. On our phone, it is more powerful and can easily handle ICS. Am I off on this?

or if it'll have to be a next-generation device that will run it.

I really hope that not even a month and a half into the lifespan of our EVO LTE's that it's still considered a next-gen device!
4.1 seems to be more of an extension of 4.0, not a big jump like it was from 2.3 to 4.0. I would imagine all devices shipping with 4.0 would be able to update to 4.1 without much trouble.
If you remember, the Evo shipped with 2.1, and was updated twice. Once to 2.2, then again to 2.3. So our brand new devices should certainly be updated to at least 4.1, possibly 4.2 whenever the time comes.
What I really wish HTC would do is give us a choice when it comes time for a 4.1 update. A Sense version, or a stock Android version. How great would that be?

Well, the Galaxy Nexus is about 6 months older than the EVO 4G LTE... Specs-wise, the EVO 4G LTE was built to be faster. There should be no reason why we don't get this update. I kid when I say it'll take forever, but in all reality, it's not a full-number version release. This might be something that we see fairly soon. It's like Android 2.2 > Android 2.3.

This will never happen. Sense is HTC's bread & butter. It's the majority factor on the decision of buying the device over other devices. While it's a nice thought to think about (if you're not a Sense fanatic like myself), it's not something that we'll likely see. I myself prefer Sense over stock Android. If I want a taste of what stock Android feels like, I'll probably just buy that Nexus Tablet they announced.
Oh yeah, definitely wishful thinking. In my perfect world that would be a reality though. I'm sure that stock 4.1 will make its way to our device at some point via Cyanogen.

I personally like stock over sense but i just couldn't justify buying last years specs. Im really hoping for a solid android 4.1 stock rom in the next month.
the listing of upgrades for 4.1 aren't anything to get overly excited over, as others mentioned, it's not like going from 2.3 to 4 here, probably won't notice much difference. Just my guess
I don't know ,project butter looks smooth ,the notification stuff is great, the voice stuff .seems pretty substantial.

Project Butter is the part I'm most excited about.
