Can`t download from market anymore - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i am new to this forum, and to the x10, i only have it for a couple of days now and i have the original android 2.1 and i rooted it and installed some apps and then i noticed that i couldn`t download anything from android market. It just says "starting download" but nothing else happens. Any ideas?

format the phone xD

You havent given us enough information.... try downloading over wifi. If that doesnt work you might want to reset your phone settings. If that works, you need to check your APN settings. Did you make a backup of it at first? No? Get it from another friend of yours with the same carrier.

I only use wi fi, i don`t have a data service activated from my provider. What are the apn settings?

Factory reset

No need for drastic measures.
Go to Settings, Applications, Manage Applications. Select Market then Clear Cache and remove update.
Next time you use the market all will be good.

use SEUS to flash your phone to Sony`s stock 2.1 and then try. that should resolve the problem and you ll get your phone to the condition when you bought it.

i did what you told me and now everything works, thanks

I have the same problem.
I flashed my X10 with the Sony 2.1, it worked fine, but as soon as the market application gets updated, the problem returns again. Downloading using WiFi or Data gives me a download bar with "starting download" but never starts. If I cancel the download, it will start again automatically but never download.
Internet connection is working fine from browser or email.
Clearing the market update and cache doesn't solve the problem.
Any Help pls.... it's a nightmare.

[Q] Marketplace App: "My Apps" Won't Load

Hello. When using the Marketplace app, everything works, except when I try to load "My Apps". I get a completely blank page. Nothing there. I have 50+ apps installed through the market that I now cannot update.
I load the marketplace, hit the menu, select my apps, nothing.
I have uninstalled the Market update, and when I try to load my apps on the old version of the market app, it tells me a server error has occurred, and asks me to retry. I can connect and use the market on my PC and on the phone's browser.
I am running stock 2.3.4, rooted only. I have unrooted. I have tried clearing the cache and data, uninstalling the update, I have reset the phone(cleared data), and used RSD to SBF 2.3.4. I have tried switching DNS servers, both wifi and 3G. ANY help or suggestions are welcome.
How can I completely clear the phone and reset to factory new condition?
SBFing is best factory reset but you could SBF back to Froyo then try updating from there. Also make sure you can view your apps in the market using the web interface, it could very well be an issue on their side.
I think it is a problem with a backed up file. I logged in with another Gmail account and I am able to access my apps. SO I guess I am going to try and SBF, then tell Google NOT to restore, as well as the backup assistant. See if that works...
Good idea, don't restore anything just sign in you could very well be on to something. Let me know how it works out. Also if it does work and you want to find out what went wrong try restoring one thing at a time, after each time check to see if you can still see your apps.
Did you try to clear cache for the market app?

The Market works perfectly if I use any other account except the one with my apps. Can I have installed too many apps? I know quite a few are not showing up on the market web site, Titanium for example...
I have the same problem. When i try to look at my apps it says something along the lines of applications and games owed by this account will appear here and it doesn't show any of my apps. I sbf'd from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4, deleted and reinstalled the market, cleared data and cache, all that. But I can access my apps on the website so I think its just a market problem

[Q] Market Problem

I have a terrible Market problem. My Vega loaded with HoneyIce 3.2.7 auto installs Google Play Store which is fine, but when I'm going to click accept on the Terms, it just force-closes. If I'm fast, i can click accept, but it force-closes after that top. When i install an older version of Android Market, it just auto updates and the problem is still the same :S Does anybody know how to fix this?
I'm having the same problem and i think alot of people will since google play just launched , i havent tryed it yet but i think it should work.
Do factory reset over cwm ,
then in terminal emulator:
su -
pm disable com.android.vending.updater
hope this helps , im gonna try this later myself.
It works, thnx You don't need to reset it...

I just assumed it would need reset because it reverts back to android market from google play. But oh well , glad it helped.
Okay, I got Google Play wokring. I don't know what i did, but it works...
Thanks for the fix!
Every time I tried to install/upgrade an app from Market it would say that this app can't be istalled on phone or usb storage. I even tried to install apk files thru manager and it didn't work anymore.
What I did was:
1. Freeze "Market updater" in Titanium Backup (pm disable does the same thing!)
2. Go in Settings-->Applications-->Manage applications-->All-->Google Shop and clear cache+data and then "Uninstall updates".
3. Restart tablet and Market should work once again!
Someone could also post a link to old version (last version before Market was transformed into Google Shop).
I had same force closes, all I did was force stop the app, then cleared its data and now it works fine?

Google Play won´t download any app

Hi, I have one big problem with my X10mini, when I try to install app from Google Play, application doesn´t install never. It is still downloading to infinity... I tryed to reinstall MiniCM9 3.0.4 then downgrade to 3.0.3 then install older MiniCM7 2.2.1. Then I tryed diferent gapps, change account, clear data from google play, and I don´t know what else. So and now I don´t know what to do next. Please try to help my. Thanks.
Sorry about my English...
Do you use any task killer, autostart app manager, droidwall etc?
No I don't use nothing like this. It desn't work when is system freshly installed too.
Did you made any changes to ROM or delete some system apps?
Did you wiped data when changing ROM (and kernels)?
Downloading through wifi or GPRS?
No I didn't delete system apps. Yes I always do "wipe data / factory reset". I tried to format data, system, cache too. It doesn't work when I am downloading via wifi and mobile internet too.
Ok, try to donwload latest version of market and after installation, power off / on your phone and try to connect and download something from market.
Sometimes it happens that system closed some apps supported other apps, like "download manager" without this one you cant download anything, or "bluetooth sharing" which allows you to send files via bt...
I tried and nothing...
So I finally fonud solution of my problem. Problem was in DNS adresses. I changed primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.8.4 in settings of my Wi-Fi router. Now it works very well.
I'm glad you found a solution to your problem!

[Solved] Xperia P Google Play Issue

Hi,
my brother has recently got an Xperia P with Orange SK branding and the phone has issues with Google Play. More precisely the phone can't install or update applications downloaded via Play store - it's initializing download until it throws an error window.
I've tried clearing GPlay cache, delete data in Google Services Framework. Also tried it with uninstalled updates and cleared Dalvik cache.
The rom was originally from Orange Slovakia, but then I unlocked bootloader, rooted it and now it's running probably US version (idk exactly, but it came with Music Unlimited pre-installed and I think that's US only). The possibly US rom was .564, but then I relocked bootloader to update it to the latest version and repaired it via SEUS. But still no luck...
Applications downloaded out of Play Store install nicely and work without problems. I've got over tens of threads and forums, but couldn't find any help. I relocked the bootloader, so that the phone could be taken back to Orange, but it would feel really awkward to come with a problem like that...
Or should I wait for ICS which should be available in next couple of days?
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There's no problem with wifi. I've tried two different wifis, both secured with just WEP, and everything works just fine. Browser works flawlessly and applications have no trouble downloading data as well.
Google Play application is up-to-date (version 3.7.13). Should I try older version?
Try to clear proxy!
Go to setting > Wireless and network > Mobile Network > Acess point name > "select your APN" > Tap proxy and delete all the number
Thanks a lot!

I don't know how or why it works, but it worked even though the phone doesn't have a data plan.
I cleared the proxy as you said, but the problem remained. Fortunately, I turned the phone to Airplane mode and FC'd and wiped cache on Play Store and FC'd and deleted data from Google Services Framework and rebooted. And it worked!
Thank you very much! The absence of Play store was really frustrating and limiting...

[Q] Play Store stopped working

All of a sudden Google Play Store stopped working. When I try to start it up, I get a screen "Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account." and a [Retry] button. When I press the button, I get the same screen again.
I've checked that there's no firewall, my Google Account is working (checked from the PC), I've cleaned the Play Store data, all to no avail. I tried removing the account but that is not allowed, I need to do a factory reset for that -- something that I'm not particularly looking forward to.
Any idea what is going wrong and how I can recover?

When I try this, it asks for confirmation, I press 'Remove account' and then comes a dialog similar to "this account is required by some applications, you can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (...)".

im not sure if u can, but if u installed the market using the froyo gapps installer in a thread from here you should be able to go to settings->applications->manage apps and find play store and click on it and downgrade, a button where uninstall would normally be, also u could tell me ur device and android version and where u installed gpps from, thatd really help me at helping you out

My button reads [Uninstall updates]. After doing so, I get the old Market application again. However, when I start it, I get "Error: Authentication required. Please log into your Google account."
I tried uninstall Market and restore (from TitanumBackup) - no difference.

Actually, I have the feeling that Market (and Play) try to start some authentication service, that fails or is missing.

hmm............try using the program u used to install market again, but first try after uninstalling updates to clear cache and data for google services framework and market, and also try to force stop them, otherwise try to reuse the app u used to install market
I removed the google apps and reinstalled them (several times, several ways). Finally success after reinstall using ArcTools. Now I can start Google Play. I asks me to create an account and it seems to work again.
Thanks for the assistance!
Again, I lost Google Play. Same symptoms: it says I need to sign in or create an account first, but doesn't give me the opportunity to do so.
I removed everything Google related. Re-installed Market (using ArcTools) but Market just doesn't get installed. Similar when trying to install Play using ArcTools: all tools get installed but there's no Play.
When restoring Market or Play from backup I have the same problems decribed in the beginning of the message.
Really puzzling - and frustrating.
