[Q] Make Alarm Clock Default To Loudspeaker - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has worked out how to make the alarm sound come out of the loudspeaker when I have something plugged into the 3.5mm jack.
I often fall asleep with music or a podcast on and the alarm defaults to coming out through the jack instead of the loudspeaker.
If anyone has worked out how to do it or knows of another app that does then I'd be super grateful

yea you're right, I love the idea.
maybe it can be changed with audio app that can seperate the audio, like
app audio: speaker/3,5mm jack
alarm: speaker/3,5mm jack
+
at the "+" you can add a app for your own ;D

Headphones plugged in, but still using speaker for alarm + ringtones

Well, I use my phone as my alarm and this simply will not do. I could live with the ringtone and notifications not playing through the speaker, but the alarm which is an mp3 absolutely must. Is there a way to fix this? Is this ICS or the gs3?

This is annoying as hell when I'm driving in my car plugged into the car's aux input... audio cuts out for a second and then my notification *pop* noise plays through the speaker, then transfers back to the car audio. Meanwhile, all the system noises like the little *bloop* noises it makes when pressing on stuff in the OS get forwarded to the headphones.
Why, Samsung? What is the point of this frivolous change from stock (oh yea... to your "Is this ICS or the gs3" question, it's the gs3) . There's no conceivable reason for it, and it's applied inconsistently.
There are a lot of things I'm liking about TouchWiz, but equally as many annoyances (like this).

Is this something that can be modified at a higher level or is this a lower level feature?

Mono Audio Widget?

What the hell does the "Mono Audio" widget do?
Mono audio is one of the "Accessibility" features that you can enable through the system settings. It allows you to listen through only one earphone.
The widget is just a quick way to enable it.

I have headphones in right now and it's not doing anything when I toggle the widget.
I put the widget on my home screen and plugged my headphones in test it out. The difference was slight, at least with the song I was listening to, but it was there.
Mono puts out a single signal. You're hearing the exact same thing through both sides of your headphones. Therefore, it doesn't matter if you have both in or only one, you'd be hearing the same thing. However, stereo puts out two independent signals. You are not hearing the same thing through both sides. It makes the sound "richer".
As I've been writing this, another song came on that had a significant orchestral background. I flipped the mono off and on with the widget, and the different was quite pronounced, so at least on my phone, with the headphones that came with the phone, it's working.

Ah I see. I thought you were saying that it would make it play out of one earphone. I get it now. Thanks.

external speakers when someone SMS/CALL you

Hi there Im having an another problem,
I notice that when i use my headset 3.5mm stereo headset, when someone texted / call me.. the external speakers play their notification.
Is there a way to stop it?
Afaik you can only mute the notification, not redirect it to the internal speaker.
I recommend Audio Manager app to control the different volumes.
aww... sad to hear.. ill try that app.

[Q] Alarm + External Speakers?

For what ever reason any alarm app I've tried, refuses to play on connected, external speakers... The port works fine... I can play music to the same external speakers via a music app (e.g. play music, playerpro), and watch videos fine. However of all the alarm apps I've tried, (default, alarm clock X, alarm clock pro) all refuse to use the external speakers and play on the phones rear speaker... For clarification, i am refering to speakers connected via the 3.5mm audio port and yes, the connected speakers are externally powered.
I have used these same alarm clock apps before (droidx) and they used external speakers fine... Is there a setting in the phone I am missing somewhere? Does anyone NOT have this problem? If so what alarm app are you using?
I've searched around (ALOT) and found nothing, please forgive me if I missed an already existing thread about this...
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
Bunni-
bump , anyone
Bump, seems its notifications as well... For example, while speakers are plugged in via the 3.5mm jack, sounds like the beep played while adjusting volume (via the volume buttons on the side of the phone) play via the phones speaker and not the attached external speakers....
Anyone have a way to change this functionality?

[Q] Bottom speaker issue

I've had the Note 3 for T-Mobile for several months now, I bought it close to when it was released. I've been loving it so far, but recently the speaker has been having an issue. Sound for alarms, ringtone, and notification either comes out of the ear speaker or don't happen. However, when I put the phone on speaker during a call, the speaker works just fine. What could cause my phone to stop outputting ringtone and notification to the bottom speaker?
It sucks, I've missed classes because of the alarm not going off.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a Bluetooth headset attached? I had that problem when it was set to call and media audio. Unchecking "Media audio" fixed it for me.
