So I have set my power saving mode to come on at 30% and for it to disable everything except wifi. The problem is that after I charge my phone back up, those settings remain disabled even though power saving mode is turned off, so I have to manually enable them each time. Is there a way around this?

What ROM and kernel is on your phone?
If you enable user specified power saving with your customized settings (30% battery => shut down everything accept wifi), and you did not disable this power saving mode, when exactly is the power saving mode disabled?
As soon as you plug in the power cable?
And is it not re-enabled automatically, after pulling the power cable out?
Sorry, but I did not exactly understand your issue.
"those settings remain disabled even though power saving mode is turned off" => Yes, that's correct. If the power saving mode is turned off, all power saving settings should be disabled.
This sounds to me like "normal" behavior.
Maybe I misunderstood something in your description.

I'm on stock 2.3.3 and KG2
And I meant that these settings do not revert themselves after I finish charging the battery. For example, at less than 30%, my power saving mode turns off syncing. But once I finish charging my phone back to 100%, the syncing is remained off, so essentially, my power saving mode never really turns itself off even after charging.
I noticed the same thing - it's very annoying to set my screen timeout to 2 minutes, and when power-save mode comes on, it gets reset to 30 seconds and stays there.
I ended up turning off almost all of the power-saving features, and setting the threshold to 5%. I'm running the stock rooted kernel with NoCIQ, so I already have a pretty substantial battery life (~24-30 hrs with normal usage and wifi at home).

Have a look at MyProfiles app from the Market.
Maybe it can help you to switch between different profiles based on system triggers.
Or use AutomateIt app to define rules when to toggle wifi, bt, gps, etc.
Just worth a try...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I kinda want to get to the root of the problem here as opposed to installing an app to mask it. Does anyone else know what's wrong with my phone?
There's nothing wrong, that's just the way it works, it change your setting when activates but doesn't change them back.
I no longer use it, since I have GPS/wifi/BT disabled unless I use them anyway.
Every time I plug my phone in via USB or place on an inductive charger, the screen turns on. I never want this to happen. Is there any setting or hack to disable? I blame OCD for not wanting to wait for the screen timeout. I tried using Tasker to set the display timeout to the minimum value of 7s only when on any power source, but it still timed out at the system setting. I have a rooted Droid 4 with the stock ROM, but this applies to any Android phone.
This doesn't seem unreasonable. If you set your phone down to charge, doesn't that mean you're done using it for now? This is difficult to search for, because the same search terms lead me to the "stay awake while charging" threads.

I'd like to know if there's a solution to this too. I find now that the only time I ever end up pocket dialing is when I take my phone off my charger, THINK i've pressed the power button to go back to sleep but didn't and thus pocket hilarity ensues
I know what u mean but there is defnetly a function where it may be disabled
ive seen it i may guarantee this
the bad thing is i forgot where...
i searched through my stock rom and found nothing so i guess ive seen this in a cyanogenmod rom :/
have a try
Its funny, because I'm trying to do the opposite. I installed my android tablet [novo 7 elf] into my car, and I used to be on a ROM whereby whenever I turn the engine on it would charge the tablet and therefore the screen would turn on. However now I've got a jellybean port this functionality does not work because of the sleep timer which has a max of 30 mins.
Any ideas on how to disable this functionality?

If you're screen always stays on while charging, then try this:
- goto SETTINGS- Developer options - uncheck "stay awake while charging"
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII

Indeed.
Am looking for the same thing. really hate the fact that when it goes in the charger I continuously have to turn off the device.... not cool.
Hopefully someone comes with a solution.
only thing for now is use Locale and a plugin screen off (.99 cents) which will probably turn off the screen if you plug it in. haven't tried it though.
Maybe the "charging now" notification is what wakes the phone up when it begins charging, and maybe that notification can be removed somehow, but I know nothing of how those are set up in the background.

FYI, I tried this again since upgrading to ICS on my Droid 4, and it totally works. I just set up a Tasker profile: When Power=AC or USB, Display Timeout = 7s. It shuts off in 7s when on my inductive charging pad, and the system setting of 1 minute when off the pad.

Sadly, it's two dollars, but this seems to be what you're looking for.
Option 1:
Install Xposed or other, I don't remember clearly...
Option 2:
With Tasker
-Power: Any AC
-System Lock
why it isn't possible to disable it without xposed?
know this is an old thread but just curious if there is a way to not have the display turn on when it reaches 100% while charging?

Old thread again but in Nougat, it's Settings/Display/Wake on plug, Disable.
Well now this thread is even older :*)
There is a app named "All My..." it contains no wake on charge. It should be a former xposed app that work on most phones so feel free to try.

Option 2 worked for me on current up to date Samsung Note 9. Thank you so much. Tasker is great, I can't wait to see how many other issues I can use to resolve.

2021! Still looking for this.
2022 and it's ongoing. Who would want the screen to turn on when plugged in. On an LG phone you even get an annoying buzz which cannot be disabled even if in silent mode.
From what i know, the max is 10mins?
You're correct, 10 minutes is the maximum. I imagine you could modify a system file in order to hack your way around this, but I'm afraid I don't know which one - also you'd need to be rooted.
You could have smart stay on and keep looking at it, then it wont switch off
No need for root or shady tools.
Install the app 'Keep Screen on' and done
Apps can use the permission to keep your screen on even if they are not in active usage.
I usually set it to "Until I turn it off" so it won't stay on when plugging it into a charger.
Very handy app when keeping it for Skype communications next to the computer.
You can also use Power Widget Lite to create toggles on your homescreen to keep the screen awake.
hi to all!
I would like to modify Android in this way :
1) When i'm in the desktop , must be start a count Y and at the finish of Y there must start lockscreen in automatic.
For example( Y=15) after 15 second that i'm on desktop and i don't touch monitor must be start lockscreen
2) when i'm in any application or menu must be start another counter (X ) (when i don't touch monitor) and when X=0 dysplay must be off.
For use dyplay i want to touch monitor and display must go ON .
If possibile i can use:
-SDK developer
or
-MOD rom
or
-tasker.
Is this possibile? use more more battery if i poweroff only monitor?
Where i can do this?
thx!:good:

This would require an app at the very least, more likely, it would require a complete teardown of the android system, editing the code specific to your device and controlling your hardware. Once the screen goes to sleep the touch input is "off", you may be able to mod the system so touching a key will turn on the screen, but I think thats probably the best you'll get.
Sorry guy.

Ok if i can touch the monitor for turn ON i can use a touchkeys?
Do this:
1) When i'm in the desktop , must be start a count Y and at the finish of Y there must start lockscreen in automatic.

For use diplay i want to touch one key(preset / for example search keytouch)and display must go ON .
it's possibile? ther'is any application do this?
Or i can use tasker for do this?
thx
Touch keys would work if you found an app that supports it, or made the mod. As far as tasker or other apps go, I'm not sure, you can search to see if you find what you're looking for:beer:

I've never used tasker, so I'm unfamiliar with it. If you're looking for an app, try the development forums. If you can already do this with tasker, then go for it. I'm sorry I can't be of more help on this matter, I merely explained why you hadn't gotten responses to your OP.

ok thx for reply.
Then android when ggo into lockscreen turnOff display and other task and go into a mod call DeepSleep. into this mode kill more task and reduce use of memory and cpu .
Also Android when turn off display is not possibile turn ON it touching display but is possibile turn on it touching a touchkeys.
But when i only turn off brightness can i turn ON it only touching display?
thx!

Yes and no, if you set it so your phone never sleeps and set your brightness to zero, your phone isn't really "off", so you'd still be using the cpu and processes, not saving any battery life. But you would be able to essentially "wake" your phone by touching the display and turning the brightness back up. This isn't going to give you the results you're looking for though.
To truly do what you want, you'll need a mod, or like I said originally, some sort of app.

ok then turn only off brightness don't save battery.
But if i know which task android kill and use cpu and ram i can kill it when i turn off brightness whitout disable monitor.
This is difficult but in this mode i can re-use the telephone only touching the screen and i save battery..it's ok?
Otherwise:
1.) i don't save battery when i use telephone and i turn off only brightness when i'm in a menu or app , while i'm on the desktop i save battery and i activate lookscreen.
Where can I find an application or a programmer / modder to help me do this?
I have not yet if i can do this using only an application with root permissions or if I need a MOD in the rom ( or MOD in kernel).
thx

Your best bet to find an app or Dev that will do this is to look in the development forums for your phone and in the q&a forums. Best of luck to you, I hope you get it worked out:beer:

While driving in the car, I'd like the display to always stay on without the need to push any buttons.
Is there some toggle button app that can be used to lock display on?
It does not look like driving mode prevents display from turning off and the biggest screen timeout that one can configure is 10 minutes.

You could do this with an app like Llama, just create two actions - one sets screen timeout to max (I think it's like 4,000 something minutes on my phone), the other sets timeout to your normal setting (I use 30 seconds). You could then create Llama shortcuts on your home screen to access those two commands, or launch them from the program directly if home screen space is at a premium.
I do something similar but configure the two settings to automatically apply when I plug (max timeout) or unplug (normal timeout) my phone. If I put my phone in the mount in my car, I end up plugging it in so it does the trick for me automatically.
Let me know if you need more help and I can write up the actual events and settings I use in Llama if you need.

Cool! I did not know that Llama can do so much. At first glance, I thought that it can only control sound.
On Llama website I do not see any description how to write your own Llama scripts. I guess, people learn by exporting/importing profiles generated using GUI?

Any settings I use I've created through the GUI. I only use a portion of what it's capable of, but a few of the events I have set up:
Turn on wifi when it detects I'm at home, work, parents' house, sister's house, etc. Turn off wifi when I leave any of those areas.
The screen timeout settings I noted previously. Also have it turn up brightness when plugged in. I have additional conditions set so that it doesn't max the brightness automatically during certain times, basically so that if I plug it in after dark in the car or in bed it won't blind me.
Automatically set a quiet profile at night and a vibrate profile when I'm at work.
Have it turn on Wifi hotspot when I'm at a particular hotel I travel to for work where there's no free wifi.
To create the automatic brighness event, create a new event where the condition "charging or unplugged" is set to one of the "charging" options and the action "screen timeout" is set to "never", then create a second event where the condition is "on battery" and the action is "set timeout to xx seconds". You can add additional conditions on time, location, etc., the best thing to do is just sift through the various conditions. Most are self-explanatory but they have a little help icon next to each that gives more info as well.

Seems to be working. I guess, this is a good way to deal with my second problem as well: kill annoying poweramp when bluetooth connects to my car. I tried first to do it without delay but it did not work. Perhaps, introducing 10-15 second delay might help.
